Veteran actress has had her say on the whole Liam Neeson race controversy, defending the Taken actor over his polarising remarks.

Goldberg appeared on US talk show The View to speak about the debate, insisting he's not a 'bigot' in the aftermath of his comments about wanting to "kill a black b**tard".

Neeson has been plagued by social media backlash after an interview in The Independent was published where he spoke about seeking revenge after his friend was raped.

He was promoting his new film Cold Pursuit at the time, but received widespread condemnation for his account of the event which happened over 40 years ago during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Goldberg has known the actor for decades, and is adamant that Neeson is “not a bigot” and that people “shouldn’t be surprised he was angry” after learning about the rape of his close friend.

She said: “People walk around sometimes with rage, that’s what happens. Is he a bigot? No. I’ve known him a pretty long time, I think I would have recognised, I’ve been around a lot of real bigots. I can say this man is not one."

Image: Vanity Fair

She continued her defence of the long-standing Irish actor; “You can’t be surprised that somebody whose loved one is attacked is angry and wants to go out and attack.”

The Sister Act star valued how Neeson “realised it was too dark” and went and “got himself help” by power-walking and speaking to a Catholic priest.

Appearing on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Neeson responded to the backlash himself by insisting he was “not racist” and “sought help” after his worrying instincts.

“It hurt me. I did seek help. I went to my priest and had two very good friends I spoke to,” Neeson explained.

Former England footballer John Barnes also praised Neeson for “coming out and telling the truth” urging people to realise Neeson said he was “ashamed and horrified” at himself.

Like it or not, a vital conversation on racism, basic instincts and admitting the truth has begun as a result of his words.

Fashion brand Gucci has been forced to apologise after releasing a balaclava-style jumper which resembles 'blackface', according to the Evening Standard.

The black piece of attire was being sold as part of their Fall/Winter 2018 campaign, and covers the lower half of the face and red mouth cut-out.

The jumper has now been removed from sale, and the brand has issued an apology after facing massive social media backlash for the offensive material.

Their statement was released by a spokesman for the luxury fashion house, saying that they consider diversity a 'fundamental value' of their company and that the incident would be adapted into a 'powerful learning movement';

"Gucci deeply apologises for the offence caused by the wool balaclava jumper. We can confirm that the item has been immediately removed from our online store and all physical stores."

“We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make. We are fully committed to increasing diversity throughout our organisation and turning this incident into a powerful learning moment for the Gucci team and beyond," it concluded.

The description for Gucci's item originally read;

“Inspired by vintage ski masks, multi-coloured knitted balaclavas walked the runway, adding a mysterious feel to this collection. This knit top combines the accessory with the ready-to-wear collection.”

Social media users managed to get screenshots of the $890 jumper before it was pulled, ironically noting that it was Black History Month.

One Twitter user wrote; “Haute Couture Blackface for the millennials?”

Gucci's problems with fashion mishaps is the latest incident in a number of racially-charged mistakes by designer fashion brands.

Prada removed items last month over products which were also concerning for the public.

Arguably Ireland’s favourite West Cork native, Graham Norton has once again joined forces with SuperValu to launch his very own gin, Graham Norton’s Own Irish Gin, which is available exclusively in SuperValu stores nationwide.

Following on from the success of Graham’s award-winning GN Wine range which includes Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Rosé and Prosecco, the renowned TV presenter has launched his own Irish gin which celebrates the beauty and unique flavours of West Cork.

Partnering with an Irish distillery was very important to Graham and an extensive search led to a distillery near Graham’s West Cork home.

West Cork Distillers have worked with Graham and the team to create the great tasting gin.  Distilled and produced using 100 percent Irish grain Graham Norton’s Own Irish Gin draws its flavour from a combination of 12 botanicals including angelica, fuchsia flowers, orris roots, rose hip, basil and liquorice root – all of which contribute to a Gin which is as unique as the man himself.

John Cooney, Off-Licence Trading Manager for SuperValu said: “We’re still seeing a huge demand for gins and gin sales are constantly on the rise so to have one on our shelves, produced by Graham Norton himself is something we’re incredibly excited about.  The Gin market is experiencing strong growth in the take home gin category with a 44.5% increase in sales over the last year and we believe that Graham Norton’s new gin will certainly add to those figures.”

He added: “The gin itself is best served simply with Indian Tonic Water, ice and fresh lime to garnish. This ensures the consumer tastes the real essence of this very fine blend. The bottle shape and design really stand out from other gins and I’m confident that consumers will give it a big – Sláinte!”

Graham Norton’s Own Gin (RRP €39) is available exclusively from SuperValu stores now. See www.supervalu.ie for more information.

Former Friends actor Matthew Perry has been battling addiction for many years, but his fans are worried about his welfare after his latest tweet.

The 49-year-old's weight has hugely fluctuated over the years of his substance abuse, with reports of pancreatitis after his Vicodin addiction and use of methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol.

He entered rehab in 1997, 2001 and 2015, the BBC reported. He also told that publication in 2016 that he barely remembered filming three seasons of Friends.

He tweeted this morning; "I got kicked out of therapy today," leading many fans to worry that he's slipping back into substance abuse.

The post comes only five months after he tweeted in September that he had spent three months in hospital to undergo surgery to repair a ruptured bowel.

He told his followers, "Three months in a hospital bed. Check."

Image: In Touch Weekly

He spoke to ABC News in 2018, saying; "Mostly it was drinking and opiates. I think I was pretty good at hiding it from my Friends co-stars but eventually people are aware."

The actor says he has used his abuse issues to aid fellow addicts, telling The Hollywood Reporter:

"I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life and a lot of wonderful accolades, but the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic comes up to me and says, 'Will you help me stop drinking?' I will say, 'Yes. I know how to do that.'"

We wish him a healthy recovery, and hope that he's taking care of his mental health too.

I think most of us agree that Joe Goldberg's character in Netflix' surprise hit stalker series You is one of the creepiest protagonists EVER.

The wildly popular psycho-thriller show follows Goldberg, a bookstore manager, as he obsesses over Guinevere Beck, a poetry major.

Things grow increasingly insane as he becomes further embroiled with his love for her, and Penn Badgley's acting skills plus the script giving us Joe's inner monologue allows some of his actions to be veiled as justified.

Viewers become so enraptured by what's going on inside Joe's stalker-brain that it's too easy to forget his actions, and get wrapped up in his thoughts instead.

Penn Badgley even had to tweet to the show's fans about the dangers of falling for a man like Joe, who is inherently psychopathic and abusive, yet women are sucked into his mind.

Netflix uploaded a two-minute clip to their official YouTube channel on Tuesday to highlight just how creepy he is without his internal monologue narration and the result is CHILLING AF.

The clips shows an awkward scene between Beck and Joe in bed together, as well as a scene of the couple reading books, in total silence. If Joe was so consumed with his relationship, why was he so damn silent all the time?

The video also shows a minor interaction with Peach Salinger, Becks BFF and the only one who sees Joe for exactly what he is.

You season two will see Joe find a new love interest, Love Quinn (weird name…). The next series is set to premiere on Netflix sometime this autumn, so take some time to get sufficiently repulsed by Silent Joe before then.

This year's season of Dancing On Ice has heavily focused on the relationship between professional figure skater Vanessa Bauer and her skating partner Wes Nelson, following a post made about Vanessa by Wes' girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson, and Megan and Wes' subsequent break up.

The 21-year-old's Instagram is mostly dedicated to her behind the scenes antics, and sharing words of pride about her skating.

However, Vanessa just opened up further about the pressures she felt growing up, and how certain comments, combined with her circumstances, saw her fall prey to a destructive eating disorder.

Sharing a gorgeous picture of herself posing in underwear, she wrote: 'Before I started shows I would have never thought I’d be comfortable in front of the camera in a bikini or much less in underwear!'

'Every day I was told I am too fat (which I wasn’t!) and it did nothing but making my confidence shrink into nothing! At 13, when my skating career started to take off, circumstances, comments and many voices made me fall into a combination of eating disorders.'

'Completely ASHAMED and always wanting to be the best in everything I did, I hid my struggles – for 4 years.' Appearing as the strong Vanessa nobody would have EVER thought of my mental health issues. 4 years later, I could not handle the pressure anymore. I fell into depressions on top of my eating disorders.'

A post shared by Vanessa Bauer (@vanessabauer_skates) on

Vanessa explained that her skating coach did not want to help her, nor was she offered any support:  'My coach found out about my MENTAL HEALTH SITUATION and didn’t want to have anything to do with the girl who ended up in psychological therapy !! It was the most devastating years of my life but I still managed to hide the whole situation from everybody around me,' she continued.

'I CONTINUED TO EXCEL at school and appeared STRONG until nobody was around. I had my therapist to vent and that was it. I thought I FAILED and it was my very own fault that I got these mental health issues.'

I was embarrassed at myself and thought these years were a period I will always have to hide because it shows a WEAK SIDE of me.'

However, the skater concluded that she knew her true love in life was skating, and she needed to be healthy and well to keep that as a part of her life.

She added: 'I have fallen in love with taking care of my body and I'm still working on my mind.'

'If you are struggling SEEK HELP. Admitting, accepting and sharing are the first steps to recovery. You're not alone.'

In case anyone wants to hear more about the sh*t-show that was Fyre Fest, we HIGHLY recommend the Netflix documentary.

The whole thing was insanity, but models and influencers who shared those infamous orange tiles to their Instagrams were paid a huge amount to do so, despite knowing nothing about the actual festival.

Rumour has it that Kendall Jenner was paid a whopping $250,000 for her post marketing the campaign, which is madness, but Hailey Baldwin has revealed that she gave her pay to charity.

The model and wife of Justin Bieber was a guest on James Corden's US talk show game Spill Your Guts, but remained candid on how much the actual amount was… which was probably wise.

While she did refuse to reveal the digits, she replied: "I’m not going to share but it made for a very generous donation to charity." Not one to let things go easily, Corden joked; "You gave the money away after you saw how… great it was."

Hailey had to laugh that one off, saying nervously, "Yes, I did." The chat show host made sure to call the 22-year-old supermodel 'noble' for her efforts. We're glad something good came out of the whole thing.

Baldwin and a group of models were flown out to the Bahamas, including Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, in April 2017 to film a promotional video for the music festival.

The event was created by rapper Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland using fraudulent funding on McFarland's part, who was arrested and sentenced to six years in prison.

He was let out on $300,000 bail but continued to create fraudulent businesses while on probation, awaiting trial.

Image: VICE News

Recent reports now state that Hailey and Bella Hadid, and influencers involved in the festival who are represented by IMG modelling agency would be subpoenaed as part of the criminal investigation into the disastrous event, which was later cancelled.

Billboard claim that the subpoenas aim to discover more about the reported $1.4 million budget that Fyre allegedly had to book artists and talent.

McFarland allegedly spent $10 million on the music festival, despite the chaos of no accommodation, water, food or artists.

Kendall Jenner has opened up to Allure about her self-esteem issues surrounding her acne and skincare routine since she was 14-years-old.

She only revealed to the world last month that she is a long-time sufferer of the skin condition which plagues mainly young teens around the world.

Taking to Instagram back in January, she wrote to her fans; "While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating. It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure."

She continued; "As humans, I don’t think we share our insecurities enough because we live in a time where being “perfect” is the standard. We curate our life online and pick the pretty moments to post. I’d like to show a younger generation that not everything is perfect."

Jenner's goal is to create a conversation surrounding image and insecurity; "I didn’t think I’d see the day where I would feel confident posting a makeup free picture. My goal is to open up a dialogue around skin positivity.

Now, she has stated that the online haters as well as her acne has made her cry for days in the past. We've all had a bit of a sob when a massive spot surfaces on the exact day you have an important event on, it's so cruel.

She revealed more about her young life to Allure;

"I've always struggled with a bit of acne since I was around 14. It killed a lot of self-esteem and I had to really work past that." She is also a person who detests when her pimples are pointed out to her, as we all are.

A break-out at the Golden Globes caused her endless stress, saying, "I was feeling good about myself, and then when people say mean things I'm like, 'I know I have a zit. I know I'm breaking out. You guys don't have to keep pointing it out. I obviously see that, but let me live.'"

Those people are legit the worst. Rude, much?

She admitted;

"I have cried endlessly for days because of things people have said to me, and I've had to become stronger through it. I mean, don't get me wrong: I am not superhuman. I definitely feel, and the things people say online are very hurtful."

We're happy for her that she's found a great skincare routine that works for her, and is starting the conversation. Young women are under such pressure to look picture perfect 24 hours a day.

Chris Brown has gone certified CRAZY at Offset on Instagram over the ICE deportation of rapper 21 Savage.

21 Savage, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is being held by American Immigration and Customs Enforcement for overstaying his visa by 13 years. The rapper is actually a UK citizen, and faces deportation.

Since that news hit the headlines, a series of memes have surfaced across social media. Singer Demi Lovato was forced to delete Twitter after laughing at one meme, which caused uproar, and now Chris Brown and Offset have come to blows.

Brown posted one meme to his Instagram which featured a mash-up of 21 Savage performing while UK rapped Big Shaq's voice is played over the clip instead.

Migos star and Cardi B's husband/baby daddy was less than impressed and commented, 'lame'.  He replied to the Loyal singer, 'Memes ain’t funny,' showing support for the UK performer.

It's safe to say that Chris didn't take this too well, telling Offset to 'fight me' in a huge rant; "F*CK YOU LIL BOY. BETTER WORRY ABOUT WHAT U GOT GOING AND FOCUS ON 'YOU'". Oh dear…

It didn't end there…

"U WANT SOME CLOUT WHEN ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS PULL UP. No camera no flexing and all that!!!!! IF YOU A REAL MAN FIGHT ME. Oh and another thing, SUCK MY D*CK!!!!" If his mother heard that bad language, my God.

"If he don’t get his earth wind and fire pootytang space suits wearing cap ass lil boy da f*ck out my comments and off my d*ck." Their heated exchange follows the news that Beyoncé's hubby and rap God Jay-Z has stepped in to pay for legal help for 21 Savage's case.

21 Savage was supposedly from Atlanta, Georgia, had allegedly applied for a non-immigrant U-Visa in 2017, but the application is still pending.

He claims he is being "intimidated into giving up his fight to remain in the United States". Legally, his team say he's not a flight risk as he has three children who are all US citizens and live in Atlanta.

Chris Brown found himself in his own spot of trouble recently after being accused of rape in Paris a few weeks ago, but he was released without charge.

We wonder if Cardi B will jump in to defend her husband?

According to research from Nielsen, 63 percent of people want to see Ireland's sportswomen honoured as national heroes in the same way as sportsmen.

Irish journalism focused on women in sport is in dire need of improvement, and today Investec has launched it's inaugural 20×20 Media Awards to recognise excellence in this field.

The 20×20 Nielsen Sports Study found that just a shocking three percent of print and four percent of online coverage was dedicated to women’s sport in Ireland: it's time for improvements.

The Federation of Irish Sport presented Investec as a sponsor for 20×20 in order to provide more support for women in sport.

Greater cultural recognition is one way to start; broadcast, print and online journalists are being invited to submit entries on women in sport to it's latest awards competition.

Investec has curated an expert panel of judges for their 2019 Media Awards;

Anna Kessel as chairwoman; Mary O’Connor, CEO of the Federation of Irish Sport; Michael Cullen, CEO of Investec; Sarah Colgan, CEO of  Along Came A Spider and 20×20 co-founder and Gordon D’Arcy, former Irish International rugby player.

Nielsen Sports were commisioned by 20×20 to monitor media coverage of sport, which resulted in quite discouraging statistics.

20×20 has estimated television coverage of women's sport is less than 12 percent, and 59 percent of Irish people believe that the media should do more to promote female sport.

57 percent of people want to see equality in female and male sporting role models in the media, and 63 percent of the public would love to see Irish women being given the same 'national hero' status as men.

Anna Kessel, chairwoman of Investec 20×20 Awards said: “In celebrating women's sports journalism the Investec 20×20 Media Awards are sending out a very powerful message: women's sport is amazing, and of value."

"For every sports editor who's ever wondered if it's worth covering; to every coach who questioned whether girls needed encouraging, and to every sports’ governing body deliberating over how much to invest in their female athletes this year, this initiative makes it clear: women's sport matters."

The objective of 20×20 is to increase the level of coverage of women’s sport across media by 20 percent by the end of 2020, according to its founder, Sarah Colgan.

Gowan girlos, you deserve a medal. Like Katie Taylor-sized medal. Multiple medals, actually…

Shell necklaces had a special place in our hearts in the mid-noughties, slung around the necks of teen movie heart throbs like Jesse Metcalf and Chad Michael Murry.

Boho surfer chick was a lewk, and shell and beach influenced jewellery is a micro-trend to watch while moving into 2019.

However, unlike the surfer strands of the 00s, the 2019 update is luxurious, dipped in gold and more island Goddess than surfboard chic.

Blogger Matilda Djerf teamed up with NAKD to create a collection featuring the on-trend detail, which sold out in hours.

Matilda's bronzed, beachy but business-like aesthetic is exactly what the trend encapsulates.

Rather than the boho-skirted, tie-dye surfer trend of the 00s which saw shell necklaces come into fashion, the new resurgence screams to be teamed with tailored separates and simple 90s cuts.

DesignB London gold cowrie shell drop earrings €11.06, ASOS DESIGN silver shells €8.30, Asymmetric shell and pearl earring €8.30

Pair any of these coastal earrings with a boxy black blazer, crisp white t-shirt and jeans, coupled with a tousled low bun.

For night, add a sleek, jewel toned pair of wide legged trousers to a white crop top, your favourite heels and minimal makeup.

Gold is the most common shade of metallic for this trend, but silver adds an artistic twist.

ASOS Longchain shell necklace €16.59, Liars & Lovers resin shell choker necklace €13.83, Reclaimed Vintage inspired multi coin & shell charm necklace €24.89

As for  necklaces, the 00s shell choker is back, but in brushed lilac and taupe tones on delicate chains.

Chunkier, statement pieces look divine with a tutleneck top and oversized blazer.

Longer shell chains scream off-duty cool gal when teamed with relaxed joggers and a jumper for weekend brunch.

Summer, we hear you calling…
