Just when you thought you knew absolutely everything about Friends, an eagle-eyed fans spots something that stops you right in your tracks.

Whether it's pointing out how much of a d*ck Ross actually is, or highlighting the blink-and-you'll-miss-it filming errors, it seems that fans of the show love to analysis every little detail.

However, the latest fan-theory to come to light actually makes a lot of sense.

According to Metro.co.uk, one Twitter user has come to the conclusion that Monica and Ross HAD to be brother and sister in order for the sitcom to work.

It seems that had the pair not been blood relatives, everyone would have sided with Carol in the divorce, meaning the show's dynamics would have been thrown completely off balance.

While the theory has not yet been confirmed by any of the show's creators, many Twitter users seem to think Emily's hypothesis was bang on the money.

However, many others were quick to jump to Ross' defence, reminding fans of the show how it how Carol who cheated on Ross – not the other way around.

Unless you grew up in the fictional world of a Steve Martin film, chances are your relationship with your family is more complicated than you'd like to admit.

The dynamics within the family unit can be hard to wrap your head around, and while we love them dearly (flaws and all), sometimes it's necessary to take a step back from all the drama.

Well, research from Michigan State University has revealed that close friends may actually bring us more health and happiness than family members.

Researchers conducted a study in which over 300,000 participants were asked how much they value their friendships. Results showed that those who put a higher value on relationships outside the family unit were happier and healthier overall. However, this only works if you actually get on with your mates.

Another study looked at almost 7,500 people ages over 50 and examined the correlation between their friendships and the state of their health and found that those with stressful friendships were at a higher risk of developing diseases like cancer and diabetes.

The author of the study, William Chopik told The Guardian: "With friends you are more likely to do activities – they provide an outlet. You can say things to friends and they are less judgmental. There is a distance there that provides a level of honesty."

The study also concluded that people with strong social bonds of any kind, increased their chances of living longer by an incredible 50 percent.

So, next time your friends tell you they're too busy to hang out, remind them that they're actually gaining precious hours by simply enjoying your company.

Bad news for fledgling relationships – science says that if you're not careful, new love could cost you your closest friendships.

There is nothing better than the first few months of a relationship – the time spent dating, learning more and more about one another and the excitement of a dalliance with a new person in the bedroom.

However, science says that if new lovers aren't careful, they could end up neglecting their friendships and lose some of them all together.

According to research led by Robin Dunbar, head of the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology at Oxford University, for every new relationship a person embarks upon, they lose two close friends. Not ideal.

'If you go into a romantic relationship, it costs you two friends,'  Dunbar told The Guardian

Dunbar's previous research suggested that most people have five very close friends. However, those who get into relationships end up with only four.

'Those who have romantic relationships, instead of having the typical five 'core set' of relationships only have four. And of those, one is the new person who's come into their life.'

Finding new love is exciting, amazing and can be all-consuming, and it's totally understandable that when you get a new partner, you want to spend all your time getting to know them.

However, keeping on top of your current friendships with those who have always been there is vital to avoid losing them to your new girlfriend or boyfriend.

Spending time cultivating a new romantic relationship can leave current strong friendships by the wayside to wither.

A recent poll shows that 92% of people have been ditched by their best friend for a boyfriend, so that's a lot of friendships which have the potential to be ruined by new love.

Jennifer Aniston recently shared a reunion selfie with the entire cast on her Instagram account which left fans wishing for a reboot of the iconic TV series.

However, the actress doesn’t believe that would work.

She told The Ellen Show, “We would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying. We're working on something."

"I don't want to lead people on," she responded when Ellen asked for more detail.

Speaking about getting the gang together again, the actress gushed, “We did that because we miss each other and we all happened to be in the same part of the world."

A project may or may not be in the pipeline but at least we can watch old episodes of Friends on Netflix until the cast get together again.

We are channelling all our girl power energy into our Halloween costumes this year. There’s no better group of people to dress up with than your gals so we’ve conjured up a list of the greatest girl gangs in history.

We’ll feature girl gangs from the 1980s to modern day queens who rule the world.

The Heathers:

The 1989 flick features one of the quirkiest and (meanest) girl gangs in cinema history. Gather up the gang and rock those iconic blazers with padded shoulders, the backcombed hair and don’t forget your scrunchie.

The Original Disney Princesses:

Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel and Belle are the OG Disney gals so why not step into the magical world of Disney this Halloween. Plus, you’ll certainly stand out from the crowd because there’s no doubt everyone will be dressing up as Elsa again this year.

The Barden Bellas:

Pitch Perfect is a movie that celebrates female friendship and supports people who sing ALL the time- we couldn’t love it more if we tried. The perk of dressing up as the Bellas means you can randomly sing all night long because it’s ‘part of the costume’.

The Derry Girls

National heroes. Icons. Irish legends. Who wouldn't want to dress up as Erin, Clare, Michelle, Orla and of course, the wee English fella.

Rachel, Phoebe and Monica:

Embrace that glorious 90s style by dressing up as the Friends gals with your two closest girls. We’ve always dreamed of rading Rachel’s iconic wardrobe and now we can.

Clueless:

The shops are full of plaid EVERYTHING at the moment so putting this outfit together will be simple. Find the most flawless plaid skirt suit and feel free to mutter ‘Ugh, as if’ to anyone who asks who you're supposed to be.

The Pink Ladies:

We're ending with one of the original girl gangs- the Pink Ladies. Go back in time to the 60s and channel your inner Frenchie or Rizzo with this old-school look. And remember, don’t forget your neck scarf.

Friends remains one of the most iconic and easy-to-watch TV shows of all time, despite almost 25 years passing since it first aired.

The sitcom we know and love offers us relatable comedy with lovable characters, what's not to adore? It could have been a very different series, however, without one of the cast in particular.

Author Saul Austerlitz has spilled some of Central Perk's most shocking secrets to celebrate a quarter-century of the programme, including which Friend was almost cut out of the show.

According to Austerlitz's new book, Generation Friends, the one and only Jennifer Aniston herself was nearly written out of the show after a potential filming conflict emerged.

Austerlitz told Entertainment Weekly that Jennifer had already filmed numerous episodes for an upcoming comedy, Muddling Through, which was set to air on rival network CBS.

The scheduling team at NBC allegedly aired a ratings-winning stream of TV films adapted from Danielle Steel novels at the same time as Aniston's other show to avoid ditching Rachel.

Most of Muddling Through's intended target audience switched to NBC for some luxurious fluff, Aniston's career prospects with Muddling Through were annihilated.

Pretty intelligent stuff from NBC, we have to admit. Imagine Friends without Rachel Greene, her hilarious diva idiosyncracies and her 'lobster' love for Ross Gellar?

Friends wouldn't be Friends without Phoebe Buffay, let's get that straight. The iconic, quirky character always saw life through another lens, and had a neverending supply of enviable vintage rings.

But according to the actress who played the hilarious character, Lisa Kudrow, playing the role wasn't easy for her. She even needed her co-star's help to handle the pressure.

The 56-year-old comedian made her comments while hiking with Kevin Nealon for his YouTube web series Hiking With Kevin yesterday.

Kudrow is a graduate of the prestigious Vassar College, where she majored in biology. She later rose to fame with her popular, slightly ditzy role on Friends for 10 series, until 2004.

"I had played dumb girls, sure. But it wasn't really me," Kudrow told Nealon.

"I feel like s**t, I tricked them. At the audition, I was the only one who could cope with the audition process and that's how I got it, I think. So I had to work hard at being Phoebe, you know."

LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani on the show, noticed something was up and gave Kudrow a much-needed pep talk.

Instagram/@__phoebe__buffay

"And then like third season in, I was struggling so much," she said. "And Leblanc was like, 'What's going on with you?' And I said, 'I can't, I don't think I have it, I mean, I don't know what I'm doing.'

"And he went, 'You're her, relax, you got it. You've been doing this f**king character for three years. You're working too hard. That's your problem. You don't need to work this hard. Relax.' He was right."

Kudrow also revealed that she has never actually watched an episode of Friends. "I should," she said. "I hear it's good."

So, while a Friends reunion may be totally off the cards, fans of the sitcom will be delighted to hear that one of the show's creators has shed some light on the future lives of the beloved characters.

Speaking at a comedy show runners panel for The Wrap's Emmy Series, David Crane, answered the question on everyone's lips: Are Ross and Rachel still together?

Much to the delight of many fans, Crane revealed that everything worked out in the end for the infamous on-again, off-again couple.

“Yes. Come on, they worked really hard, ten years,” he said.

He also informed curious fans that Monica and Chandler were doing just fine.

However, it wasn't all good news.Crane quickly dashed all hopes of a possible reunion whe  he quite bluntly stated it would "never happen."

“Never. We did it! It's done,” he continued. “That's why you don't want to see more of it because it's all a happy ending."
