A gorgeous and powerfully vivid collection of essays written by Emilie Pine has won the An Post Book of the Year for 2018.

Notes to Self sees Pine writing on a variety of important moments in her life, including sexual assault, fertility problems, sexism in the academia sector, feminism, depression and addiction.

Published by Tramp Press, the book has been widely read around Ireland since it's publication, and has deeply resonated especially with women nationwide who relate to the stark and emotional work.

Emilie tweeted her joy at hearing the news, writing on Twitter: "Delighted and honoured to win Book of the Year 2018….Thank you to everyone who voted."

She also paid tribute to Tramp Press for commissioning the work, which tugged at the heartstrings of Irish women and men nationwide with it's brutal and visceral honesty.

The An Post Irish Book of the Year 2018 was handpicked by a public vote from a list of category winners which were recently announced at the An Post Irish Book Awards.

The esteemed prize boasts previous winners such as John Crowley's Atlas of the Irish Revolution, written with Donal Ó Drisceoil, Mike Murphy and Dr. John Borgonovo, Solar Bones by Mike McCormack, Academy Street by Mary Costello, The Spinning Heart by Donal Ryan, Belinda McKeon's Solace, Staring at Lakes by Michael Harding and Asking For It by Louise O'Neill.

Chairperson of the An Post Irish Book Awards Maria Dickenson said; “Emilie Pine’s Notes to Self was one of the great stories in Irish bookselling in 2018 and I’m delighted that the voting public has chosen it as the An Post Book of the Year."

"The power and honesty of Emilie’s essays have captivated readers, and it’s truly gratifying both to see her talent rewarded and to see an Irish publisher like Tramp Press receive this well-deserved recognition," she continued.

Readers of the book couldn't put the engrossing work down. David McRedmond, CEO of An Post, commented on Emilie's wonderful win,

“2018 was a huge year for Irish writing and no book illustrates better why An Post is delighted to sponsor the Irish Book Awards: Emilie Pine’s book, a challenging read, is deeply human and Irish, emotional and clever. An Post thanks all the voters for engaging with the Awards in such large numbers.”

The An Post Irish Book Awards celebrate and promote Irish writing to a wide range of readers, bringing together a massive community who are passionate about writing. Readers, authors, booksellers, publishers and librarians unite to recognise Irish talent.

Congratulations to Emilie on her deserved achievement, we can't wait to consume her next piece of beautiful and fearless writing.

Meghan and Harry are not far away from becoming parents for the time.

And as they gear up to welcome their first child, they have been busy getting their home ready in preparation.

The couple is residing at their Cotswold home and Harry's Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace now.

The Palace announced their move to Frogmore Cottage in November, saying that the pair would be there in early 2019.

So what's Frogmore Cottage like?

A gift from the Queen, it boasts 10 bedrooms and renovations are in process.

According to ELLE, ''The hope is the renovation work at Frogmore Cottage will be complete before the baby arrives.''

The plans for the house include two conservatory extensions, extensive landscaping, permission for a bedroom to be built above a studio on the property, and a few new fireplaces.

Playing with their little on in the gardens will be something else for the couple to look forward to, as it is on private property and there will be no intrusion.

Meghan is working with designers Vicky Charles and Julia Corden of Charles and Co.

Charles worked as Soho House brand's head of design and worked previously on Soho Farmhouse's look, which is near Harry and Meghan's Cotswolds home, if you want to get some inspiration as to the look they are going for.

We're sure Frogmore will be a home where the trio makes many happy family memories together.

Harry Styles has an abundant of fans all around the world, each more dedicated than the next. Some send him gifts, some throw their underwear in his face at concerts, and some…get him tattooed on their face?

We're pretty sure that this girl is officially 'Harry's #1 Fan' by default after pulling this stunt. Kelsy Karter has made no secret of her love for the 24-year-old former One Direction singer.

The lad has been blazing a trail since the release of his massively popular debut album, and now Kelsy has decided it's time to show her (permanent) appreciation for Harry. We can only hope this is a hoax.

Kelsy got inked by Los-Angeles based tattoo artist Romeo Lacoste, who's quite the big deal in the celebrity body art scene. She shared the bizarre result on her social media accounts, tweeting the caption;

"Mama, look what I made me do." My mother would excommunicate me from the family if I pulled anything like this, let alone called her out in the caption…

Needless to say, fans had some pretty dramatic reactions. Mainly because the tattoo literally looks NOTHING like Harry Styles, no offence Mr Lacoste, but this isn't your best work in terms of facial twinning.

Hilariously, Frankie Cocozza realised how like the inking his own face looked, as opposed to the solo singer. He tweeted a reply to Kelsy, writing: "I'd love to send you a signed photo thanking you for the support. Get in touch mate x" GAS.

Kelsy's face appears slightly swollen and red, with Romeo posting a photo of her on his Instagram story saying; "I can’t believe Kelsy Karter got Harry Styles tattooed on her face." We can't either.

She recently tweeted: "It’s 2019 and Harry Styles is still the best looking human." Safe to say she'd be over the moon if he noticed her stunt. but the frontman has yet to comment.

Some fans are arguing that the tattoo is fake, but most of the comments are just the general public questioning her sanity. Which is semi-fair, to be honest.

On 18 January she tweeted: "Finally know what I’m getting Harry for his birthday…"

Well, this is one way to get his attention, we hope? Stay tuned to see if the singer ever comments on the matter, or if Kelsy reveals the inauthenticity of the inking. Pray it's fake, just pray.

DC fans have woken up to a MASSIVE treat, thanks to the gift that is Margot Robbie.

The Suicide Squad star has posted the first look at Harley Quinn in the new flick, Birds of Prey. She's sporting the character's icy blonde hair, only shorter with a sharp fringe, with her classic bright red lips.

She uploaded the stunning selfie to her Instagram, cheekily captioning it: "Miss me?" Um, YAS.

We're also drooling over that tassled jacket she's wearing, which is sure to spawn a load of knock-off versions. Knock-off versions that we will obviously be buying…

It's a definite change compared to the pink and blue-haired, baseball bat wielding Harley that we know and love, but we're going to embrace the change.

The 28-year-old actress shared the lewk from the solo film set, which is set to produce the film for a 2020 release.

In the newest flick, Harley Quinn will join forces with Black Canary and Huntress to save the life of Cassandra Cain from Gotham City crime lord, Black Mask.

We're also ADORING the fact that the movie has a female director- Cathy Yan. The look is definitely Japanese-inspired, but we're here for it. Gwen Stefani also has a clear influence, style icon that she is.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing the role of Huntress, and Jurnee Smollett is acting as Black Canary, so it's a female-centred plot THANK GOD. Jared Leto took way too much credit away from Robbie in the last outing.

Harley deserves far more attention, she's an absolute BO$$.

Ireland isn't exactly the hotspot for musical talent to visit during the summer, but recently we've been acquiring some absolutely MAJOR acts from around the world.

Some of us may remember the days of Oxygen (Rest in Pieces), but Electric Picnic has taken over as the biggest and most popular festival in the Irish calendar.

Longitude appears to have become the most 'hip-hop' festival in town overnight, who saw that one coming? All the young ones adore it, hence why artists such as Chance the Rapper, Future and AS$P Rocky are headlining it this year.

Oh, and the queen that is CARDI B (gasp)… this will be us when she emerges on stage like the glorious, ghetto peacock that she is:

ultra music festival dancing GIF

Luckily for you, we've decided to do a round-up of EVERYTHING there is to know of 2019's Irish music festivals.

Strap yourselves in, get your raincoat and wellies ready, it's looking like a muddy ride.

God knows why we all live for summer's music gigs, most of us have had our stuff stolen, our tents destroyed and our dignity abandoned, yet we still come crawling back for more. Must be our dedication to the art, or something?

First up: Castlepalooza: May 3 – May 5 2019

Things have been pretty hush hush this year in Castlepalooza-land. So far, no headline acts have been announced and even the early bird tickets aren't on sale yet.

As far as speculation goes, they normally stick to Irish acts such as AllTvvins and The Rubberbandits, so maybe they'll get Dermot Kennedy or Picture This?

We're assuming it's still taking place in Charleville Castle, Tullamore, but they've changed the dates so who knows. All will be revealed.

Life Festival: May 24 – May 26 2019

For #Life19, some major dance players have been given the green light to DJ, including Giggs, Bicep, MK, Nina Kraviz and CamelPhat. Think District 8 but in the woodlands.

The festival is returning to Belvedere House in County Westmeath for a weekend of phenomenal tunes. There are three days, six stages and a jam-packed line-up.

Chill by the lakeside stage for a more relaxed vibe, or hit the District 8 tent and Main Stage for absolute dance mania.

Vantastival: 31 May – June 2 2019

Known as the last real festival for camper vans and 'legit' music lover families, Vantastival is relatively unknown in some circles but a must-see in others.

Taking place in Drogheda, Co. Louth, the festival boasts comedy shows, craft beer, art installations and a kids' camp for families.

The festival gets some unbelievable talent up to play, and the headline acts this year have already been announced.

King Kong Company, David Keenan, Cry Monster Cry, Just Mustard and I'd Fight Gandhi are all hitting the stages this year, it's gonna be a BIG one for their 10th anniversary.

Forbidden Fruit: June 1 – June 3 2019

Forbidden Fruit has been a steadily growing Irish festival for years, with some well-known as well as emerging talent performing DJ sets in the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham.

Headliners this year are Mura Masa (INCREDIBLE), Skepta, Elbow, First Aid Kit and Danny Brown. They're spreading out the genres this year, bringing in some new and more alternative names.

Tickets went on-sale back in December, but there are still a few left. We recommend grabbing them before they're gone.

Body&Soul: June 21 – June 23 2019

The arts festival takes place in Ballinlough, Co. Westmeath, and it's celebrating it's 10th run this year.

Previous headliners include Nick Cave, but they have yet to tease 2019's fixtures.

It's a cesspit for creative minds, branding itself as the biggest 'independent' festival in Ireland. They're announcing the line-up very soon, so stay tuned. We're guessing perhaps Christine and the Queens?

Sea Sessions: June 21- June 23 2019

Sea Sessions is well on the rise. The festival is specifically for surfers, and takes place in Bundoran, Co. Donegal for those sea lovers every year.

They've got a STELLAR line-up for 2019: Sigrid (I cried when I saw her, not gonna lie), Clean Bandit and Two Door Cinema Club are the star acts who will blaze up that stage.

This one looks set to be an incredible year, especially if the weather holds up. Tickets are on sale now, but it sells out every year so get on it ASAP.

Longitude – July 5 – July 7 2019

They've just announced some massive names to the chart: Cardi B and Anne-Marie are two unreal additions.

The festival is running from Friday July 5 until Sunday July 7 in Marlay Park, and always gets some pure stunning weather (for once).

The line-ups have DRASTICALLY changed even since 2017, when Mumford & Sons took centre stage. It's all about those rap stars nowadays, who would have thought Irish people would crave the genre so much? Maybe it's just the young wans.

Tickets are back on sale this Friday, February 1 at 9am. Get ready for online mayhem, as Cardi B is sure to attract thousands of eager fans.

All Together Now: August 2 – August 4 2019

The festival takes place in Curraghmore House in County Waterford during the August Bank Holiday, so it's always a sure-fire hit.

American indie band The National are the headliners for this year's take; previous performers include Fleet Foxes, Mura Masa, Villagers and First Aid Kit.

Most of the tickets have already sold-out for this year's festival, but there's always DoneDeal? Camper van tickets are also still available, but not much else except the higher priced ones.

Electric Picnic: August 30 – September 1 2019

So E.P. is ALREADY sold-out, as predicted.

The speculation has begun, seeing as nobody is aware of the line-up as of yet, and we're gonna go ahead and pray that our home-girl ARIANA GRANDE hits the Main Stage. Get your rosary beads out.

Last year saw N.E.R.D, Kendrick Lamar and The Prodigy hit the stage as headliners, and Sigrid and Dua Lipa absolutely smashed it during their performances. We'd love to see those gals return with new albums under their belts.

There you are, gals. The ULTIMATE Irish music festival round-up for 2019…so far. We're tingling with excitement already at the thought of sneaking in all those naggins/cans/wine bottles/shoulders/litres/whatever the kids drink nowadays.

Now all we need is the funds to afford any/all of these amazing gigs. Maybe we could sneak in?

The worst thing about Grey’s Anatomy is the never-ending goodbyes we have to say to our favourite characters. We’ve bid farewell to many of our favourite doctors over the years, from McDreamy to Lexie and it looks like we’re set for another major goodbye this season.

Season 15 of the medical drama series has certainly been jam-packed with drama, from Teddy’s surprise pregnancy to Meredith’s complicated love life.

However, one of the most heartbreaking storylines so far has been Catherine Fox’s cancer diagnosis. The powerhouse surgeon has been diagnosed with quite the rare tumour and fans are worried about the doctor’s fate.

The latest trailer for this week’s episode features the major surgery to remove Catherine’s tumour but things don’t go according to plan despite Amelia and Koracick’s thorough preparations for the surgery.

We must admit our hearts stopped when we heard the words: “If we keep going, we cost Catherine her life.”

The clip sees the duo panic as an unexpected complication arises during Catherine’s surgery. This is then followed by a clip of Catherine’s son, Jackson sobbing in the corridor of the hospital.

The last major death on Grey’s Anatomy was Derek Shepherd and we’re still recovering from that loss if we’re honest.

Plus, we have already waved goodbye to two of the show’s most kickass female doctors last season. When Arizona and April were cruelly axed from the show. Surely Grey Sloan can’t lose another empowering female character?

It looks like we’re going to have to sit tight and wait and see what happens to Catherine in the upcoming episode The Winner Takes It All.

McCary looked dapper as f*ck in a black tuxedo alongside his gorgeous and talented date. The 33-year-old has been a segment writer for the hit comedy show for a number of years.

The duo were first rumoured to be dating in October 2017, but the pair were only snapped on a date recently at a basketball game together.

Stone and McCary originally met in December of 2016, after Stone hosted the show and starred in the Wells for Boys sketch that McCary directed.

Page Six then reported that the pair were quietly dating for three months, since JULY 2017. They kept that pretty hush hush didn't they? Minxes.

Stone has kept a low profile in the dating scene since her last high-profile relationship ended. Andrew Garfield and Stone split back in October 2015 after more than three years of dating, after starring in Spiderman together.

The actress and Garfield were still photographed hanging out together in London in 2016, after Stone flew over to visit him. Garfield has been linked to Rita Ora since November, though neither of them have confirmed the rumours.
