Sony Pictures, who own the rights to comic book character Spider-Man, have made a statement about the split with Disney which will see the webslinger no longer involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The company said they were "disappointed" last night by Disney's demand for a greater stake in the Spider-Man films and its proposal to reduce the involvement of Marvel president Kevin Feige in the franchise.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterised recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” said the statement.

“We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.

“We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own," they added.

“Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Negotiations had been underway for numerous months between Sony and Disney over Spider-Man's future, after Disney's purchase of Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion heightened box-office dominance.

Disney had been demanding that future movies be financed evenly between the two studios, with Feige as the consultant producer.

Feige has been aligned with the Avengers series since Iron Man was released in 2008, and has been mostly credited with satisfying the franchise’s hardcore fans alongside Disney’s desire for awards and critical recognition.

Avengers: Endgame overtook Avatar last month as the highest grossing film of all time, and Black Panther became the first superhero film to win a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars last year.

Spider-Man: Far From Home, deposed Skyfall as Sony’s biggest film ever at the global box office only this week, with two more films starring Tom Holland supposedly in the works.

Major character plot holes will no doubt be the result of Sony's split with Disney, after Far From Home set up the next major Avengers storyline. Tom Holland fans are in mourning over the news, with the actor playing arguably the most popular Spidey to date.

You may be familiar with some of Robert Sheehan's earlier work… or you may have just been introduced to him via the thirst trap of Netflix.

The Umbrella Academy has us all binge-watching the show 24/7, but Sheehan's character provides some eye candy for Twitter users of the modern day, who adore Klaus Hargreeves in all his hilarious, flamboyant and substance-abusing glory.

The Irish actor garnered attention back in 2009 when he portrayed lovable trouble-maker Nathan Young in E4's hit show, Misfits. The memes of his character's funniest lines still live on…

A stint on Love/Hate as Darren cemented his rising star status, and he has recently hit America, playing Simon in The Mortal Instruments film.

Now he's catching more than his fair share of eyes in Gerard Way's new dark superhero show; The Umbrella Academy. My Chemical Romance's former frontman has some serious talents.

Klaus' power is that he can hear the dead, which partially explains his insanity. The lad is high or drunk in every scene, and it makes for VERY entertaining content altogether…

We decided to check out what Twitter had to say about our lust-worthy Irish export, and it's fairly hilarious. The thirst trap has caught it's prey, you might say…Here are our fave reactions from the general public. Enjoy…

1. We ADORE that this video found true meaning when related to Klaus' gift:

2. "Don't stan the crazy white boy": A novel.

3.  THE FLAVAH:

4. "I only want happiness for him":

5. THAT scene where he's jamming in his towel and Mary J. Blige rolls in:

6. Klaus and Ben together: the greatest combo of sass we didn't just need but deserved:

7. How oblivious Klaus is at ALL TIMES to any type of danger:

8. Lady Gaga-level of praise:

9. Official 'White Boy of the Month' category winner:

10.  His phone calls to the dead aren't exactly eloquent:

11. Klaus + Ben = Our Heart

12. Some fans would even, dare we say it, DIE for him:

13. His self-care priorities are in order:

14. We're just so thankful to Gerard Way:

15. We CRAVE the crazy:

16.  The scene with his father's ashes had us whEEZING:

17. We just want to show our support:

18. His fear of ghosts is so damn pure:

19.  The resemblance to his old character of Nathan Young in Misfits is uncanny:

20.  Finally, the statement we all know to be true:

Is that all the Klaus Netflix can offer us? We won't rest until we see more of his beautiful face and hilarious quotes.

DC fans have woken up to a MASSIVE treat, thanks to the gift that is Margot Robbie.

The Suicide Squad star has posted the first look at Harley Quinn in the new flick, Birds of Prey. She's sporting the character's icy blonde hair, only shorter with a sharp fringe, with her classic bright red lips.

She uploaded the stunning selfie to her Instagram, cheekily captioning it: "Miss me?" Um, YAS.

We're also drooling over that tassled jacket she's wearing, which is sure to spawn a load of knock-off versions. Knock-off versions that we will obviously be buying…

It's a definite change compared to the pink and blue-haired, baseball bat wielding Harley that we know and love, but we're going to embrace the change.

The 28-year-old actress shared the lewk from the solo film set, which is set to produce the film for a 2020 release.

In the newest flick, Harley Quinn will join forces with Black Canary and Huntress to save the life of Cassandra Cain from Gotham City crime lord, Black Mask.

We're also ADORING the fact that the movie has a female director- Cathy Yan. The look is definitely Japanese-inspired, but we're here for it. Gwen Stefani also has a clear influence, style icon that she is.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing the role of Huntress, and Jurnee Smollett is acting as Black Canary, so it's a female-centred plot THANK GOD. Jared Leto took way too much credit away from Robbie in the last outing.

Harley deserves far more attention, she's an absolute BO$$.

It's been a long week, and it's only Tuesday.

The need for good quality content in our lives is at an all time high if we want to make it to Christmas in one piece.

There's still six days away, and only some seriously gas online material will help us to survive, and some serious self-care.

Luckily for the entire internet, Noah Centineo has delivered once again.

Otherwise known as the boyfriend of the online community, when Noah was a mere sixteen-years-old, we appeared to be already rehearsing for his role as public heart-throb.

Fans have stealthily dug up footage of himself belting out Boyfriend by our old pal Justin Bieber, while dressed as Batman…in a candlelit room…

Yes, we can confirm it's as hilarious as it sounds. Take a look;

We're still laughing that the title of the video is literally 'Boyfriend by Justin Bieber Super Hero Swag', uploaded by Centineo's pal Jack Griffo.

God bless you, Jack Griffo, for gifting us with this glorious content.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.

You may have heard a thing or two about Jason Momoa, the Aquaman star who got his big break after playing the terrifying Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones.

He's infamous for the role, in which he portrays the chieftain of the Dothraki tribe and the husband of the Mother of Dragons, played by Emilia Clarke.

However, the language barrier meant that Momoa had very few lines, and most of his actions were pretty violent, so he wasn't exactly likeable.

I mean, the guy is SCARY.

Momoa visited the Graham Norton show this week to promote his character in the DC universe, Aquaman, and his struggle following his turn in Game of Thrones.

His character was killed off in 2011, and the actor admits that his career took a slight dive after his role ended; "I didn't get much work after that," Momoa says.

Describing the reaction of those who meet him in person, he said;

"I mean, what do you do with that – his character doesn't speak English, he's not funny and he just hurts people. I played that character well so it was a bit challenging afterwards. People would literally say, 'Wow, you speak English!'"

Momoa reprised his starring role in Game of Thrones for a GAS Saturday Night Live sketch, though his time on the fantasy show is over.

The actor told Digital Spy a while back that he's not featured in any scenes for the final season of the HBO phenomenon, saying: "Yeah… he's not coming back. Nine years now, let him go."

Watch the full interview with Jason Momoa on The Graham Norton show tomorrow, Aquaman is out now in the UK.

You may remember the most adorable child on the planet who got to save the world for a day, otherwise known as Batkid.

Back in 2013, the Make a Wish Foundation shut down and transformed the streets of San Francisco for 24 hours in order to allow five-year-old leukemia patient Miles Scott to achieve his dream.

It's safe to say he won the entire world's heart. Anyone who had the privilege of watching him race through Gotham and defeat villains like the Joker and the Penguin as well as rescue citizens witnessed pure joy.

Unsurprisingly, Batkid became a sensation as the mini-superhero, everyone fell in love with the youngster as well as sending him prayers and well wishes for his brave battle with cancer.

It was MAJOR news at the time, even Barack Obama adorably chimed in to thank Miles for his services to the city:

As if this story wasn't heartwarming enough, it has now emotional been revealed that Miles is CANCER FREE. We're not crying, you're crying…

The youngster is now officially in remission, we wonder if his superpowers had anything to do with it?

His story was even mde into a 2015 documentary entitled Batkid Begins, which tells the inspirational story of the little boy as well as how the whole event was organised by Make a Wish Foundation and the San Francisco mayor at the time, Ed Lee.

The charity has said that Miles has returned to normality (in disguise):

"Since his crime fighting day five years ago, Miles has returned to being a typical kid – playing little league, going to school, helping his family farm, and even selling his first market goat in the local fair! Now 10 years old and in fifth grade, Miles loves science and robotics."

Batkid, who is now ten-years-old, featured on the San Francisco Bay Area Make a Wish Foundation Twitter account as a success story, for beating his illness:

We are so delighted for Miles and his family, he is truly an uplifting superhero who inspires us all.

The CW’s Supergirl has just announced it's latest casting addition and it is proving to be a divisive decision already.

Last weekend, during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, producers of the hit show stated that the role of Nia Nal will be played by Nicole Maines, making her television's first ever transgender superhero.

She will join the production for the upcoming fourth season.

The actor, who previously starred in Royal Pains, will play a new member of CatCo’s reporting team.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nicole said of her character, ''she has this ferocious drive to protect people and to fight against discrimination and hatred. She’s the superhero we need right now.”

It was announced back in May that a transgender character would be coming to Supergirl but now that we have the actor in place, it has gotten very real.

Nicole spoke to Variety about how she feels stepping into this role.

“I haven’t really wrapped my head around it. It feels fitting to say with great power, comes great responsibility.''

She continued, ''we can be whoever we want, we can be superheroes, because in many ways we are. We’ve had trans representation in television for a while but it hasn't been the right representation.”

Reactions to the news on social media have been mixed.

Lots of people are happy with the news, with one writing, ''I'm literally crying right now. I never thought I'd see the day where we'd actually see this happen.''

Others hit back at negative comments, with one person saying, ''so many narrow minded people here, I hope someday you'll be brave enough to open your eyes.''

This isn't the first bit of history-making news to come from the CW this week.

It was just announced that a Batwoman series is in the works, which will be the first live-action superhero series with an openly gay lead at its centre.

“It's such an important issue right now in our society and in the world. And so it seems only fitting that we have a trans superhero for trans kids to look up to. I wish there was a trans superhero when I was little,'' Nicole has said of this news.

Supergirl will return to our screens on October 14th on the CW.

Everyday we come across little struggles in life that would be WAY easier to manage if we had superpowers.

Unfortunately for us, we don't live in a comic book or superhero movie – so the odds of us attracting superpowers are zero.

BUT if we could, these are the powers we would love to possess.

Superhuman strength

We've all been there, that moment you want to be a kick-ass independent woman… but you just can't lift that heavy box. All those hours in the gym for nothing.

Invisibility

The amount of conversations you could overhear! And you could totally do your work a lot quicker without anyone bothering you… that's if you're not too busy being nosey.

Flight

Goodbye morning rush hour traffic! Plus if you need some chill time, who's going to bother you on a cloud?!

Time-travel

With this gift you could undo every embarrassing drunken moment… or relive them, the choice is up to you!

Telepathy

This could mean no more time wasted on wondering if that cute guy likes you. If you could read his thoughts, you could find out whether to make a move or just move on.

Paul Rudd isn’t your typical superhero, but then we suppose ‘Ant-Man’ isn’t your typical superhero either. So it kind of fits.

When we first heard of Ant-Man, we imagined a load of ants crawling out of Paul Rudd’s sleeves and the like, but thankfully, he gets his name from his ability to make himself really, really small.

The film won’t be out until 2015, and they only began filming at the beginning of the week, but Marvel Entertainment released a photo of Paul Rudd in his role – and we have to say, he’s lookin’ well! We really like the broody stare!

Other stars that will be appearing in the film include Michael Douglas, who will play Dr. Hank Pym, and John Slattery who will reprise his role of Howard Stark from Iron Man 2.

Our favourite thing about all these comic books being made into movies is the crossover between characters! We can’t wait!

It has been reported that Sony will be making a Spider-Man spin off in 2017 with a female super-hero lead.

The announcement comes just days after the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said that he wants to have a film with a female lead out sooner rather than later:

“I think it comes down to timing, which is what I've sort of always said, and it comes down to us being able to tell the right story.

“I very much believe that it's unfair to say, 'People don't want to see movies with female heroes,' then list five movies that were not very good, therefore, people didn't go to the movies because they weren't good movies, versus [because] they were female leads.

“And they don't mention Hunger Games, Frozen, Divergent. You can go back to Kill Bill or Aliens. These are all female-led movies. It can certainly be done.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

The newest member of The Avengers has been confirmed as Paul Bettany who will take on the role of Vision.

Bettany previously provided the voice for J.A.R.V.I.S, an operating system in the Iron Man movies. The operating system also appeared in the previous Avengers movie so it is not certain how the makers will deal with this interesting turn of events!

Bettany will star in the highly anticipated movie with Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth amongst others.

The talented actor will also make his directorial début with the film Shelter which stars his wife Jennifer Connolly.
