This week, Khloe Kardashian came under fire for promoting a weight-loss shake after saying she didn't believe in crash diets – and Jameela Jamil had quite a lot to say about celebs putting their names to diet detox products.

The actress, who has advocated a positive body image and self-worth through her project I Weigh, took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the prolific manner in which celebrities endorse these teas and shakes on social media.

She mentioned Crdi B in her rant – which got the attention of the rap queen.

'They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense ‘detox’ tea' Jameela wrote.

'GOD I hope all these celebrities all shit their pants in public the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do.'

Cardi had a response for Jameela, saying: 'I will never shit my pants cause there’s public restrooms everywhere… Ooh and bushes.'

Jameela's Twitter thread continued: 'If you want to 'curb your appetite' eat some damn green vegetables or have some nutritious natural vegetable soup. You need fiber! Not something that honestly just makes you have diarrhoea the day you take it and constipates you in the long run…'

'Generally just don’t ever take diet advice from women who know nothing about nutrition/basic advertising ethics.'

She then turned her attention to rapper Iggy Azalea, in a post that some have seen as being 'plastic surgery shaming.'

'When will these women who are covered in plastic surgery stop telling their followers to drink a laxative to look like them? It’s so embarrassing and it’s so encouraging of eating disordered behaviour,' Jameela wrote.

Over on Instagram, Jameela penned an open letter to celebrities like Blac Chyna, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Amber Rose who flog the weight-loss products.

'I am so sick of the lies. I was so riddled with eating disorders when I was young. I listened to irresponsible celebrities and bought all these bad products and followed their TERRIBLE and toxic diet tips for how they maintained the tiny weight they were… and I fucked up my metabolism and digestive system for life.'

'I damaged my fertility, I was consumed and mentally ill.

'I was obsessed and didn’t eat a meal for over three years as a growing teen. I am not going to stop until we teach people to be better allies to women and stop selling this not at all medically sound shit and rhetoric to us.'

She was the child star who successfully broke into more adult acting roles.

We loved watching her after school on Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show, adored her as kooky Penny in Hairspray and She's The Man was our sleepover go-to as teenagers.

And then, just as quick as she became our on-screen BFF, she seemed to go down the typical child-star spiral.

However, the 32-year-old has made her triumphant return – and she is breaking the Internet.

The actor is currently studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in downtown Los Angeles.

She has been enrolled there since 2014 and is getting her Associate's of Art degree in Merchandise Product Development this month before starting a Bachelor's degree in January.

But hold on – acting is still her first passion –  phew.

Acting has been her whole life; she had an agent by the age of seven, went on to a "SNL-with-tweens"-esque sketch show on Nick and then, of course, she had her own show.

She says that "It was a dream come true. It was unbelievable for me."

After three seasons, it was time for Amanda to break into movies – and that she did. Remember her, aged 15, alongside Frankie Muniz in Big Fat Liar?

And What I Like About You on the WB, opposite Jennie Garth, playing two sisters living in New York City.

But then came 2007.

Blame paparazzi culture, snapping young stars as they fell out of nightclubs – not that Amanda liked going out that much, or alcohol for that matter.

But, she says, "I started smoking marijuana when I was 16. Even though everyone thought I was the 'good girl,' I did smoke marijuana from that point on. I wasn't going out and partying or making a fool of myself… yet."

It was after making Easy A, her last movie, that thing started to spiral.

She says candidly, ''I literally couldn't stand my appearance in that movie and I didn't like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it."

She continues, "I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason, it really started to affect me. I don't know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people."

So she retired on Twitter and sank into a dark existence with a seedy crowd.

Now sober for four years, her advice to anyone struggling with substance abuse is ''to be really careful because drugs can really take a hold of your life. The mixture of marijuana and whatever other drugs and sometimes drinking really messed up my brain. It really made me a completely different person. I actually am a nice person. I would never feel, say or do any of the things that I did and said to the people I hurt on Twitter."

Thankfully she is looking super healthy and says, "I have no fear of the future. I've been through the worst and came out the other end and survived it so I just feel like it's only up from here."

Everyone, get ready for the second act of Amanda Bynes-  we have a feeling it's gonna be a great one.

These dark, gloomy evenings are really draining and we have to admit we never have the energy to go out once we clock off from work.

This winter we’ve been making the most of our book collections and have spent many evenings curled up by the fire with nothing but a good book for company.

The list of benefits associated with reading is never-ending, but our favourite one is simple- the escapism.

Distracting your mind for a few chapters where you can escape to different worlds and meet new people all from the comfort of your sofa is so tranquil.

We decided to support our fellow ladies by putting together a list our favourite books by female authors.

We’re sure you’ll love these books just as much as we do.

1: Ritual for Every Day by Nadia Narain and Katia Narain Phillips (Hutchinson)

We all feel that desire a calmer, more spacious way of living, but we’re often unsure exactly how to step off the crazy treadmill of day-to-day routines and responsibilities. Nadia and Katia have learned through years of practice that simple rituals can help you press the pause button on the pace of modern life. In Rituals for Every Day, they share their easy-to-follow advice, step-by-step. Let the riyals bring you back to yourself.

2: Thanks, Penneys! by Valerie Loftus (Mercier)

Have you ever been in Penneys on a Saturday and felt like you were in a scene from The Hunger Games? Have you ever gone in just to get a pair of tights and come out with fake tan, a pair of glittery platforms and some fluffy pyjamas? Have you ever spent hours there trying to root out a pair of knickers that doesn’t have ‘NETFLIX AND CHILL’ written on the bum? If so, then this is the book for you. From the chaos of changing rooms to the questionable delights of the lingerie section. Thanks, Penneys! is a love letter to an Irish institution that is an integral part of all our lives.

3: The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur (Andrew Mcmeel Publishing)

Rupi Kaur’s second book is divided into five sections reflecting the life cycle of a flower, with chapters titled: Wilting, Falling, Rooting, Rising, and Blooming. It focuses on themes of love and loss, trauma and abuse, healing, femininity and the body. Wilting touches on the subject of heartbreak and loss. Falling focuses on depressive feelings following the loss of an important relationship. Rooting explores topics of female infanticide, immigration and borders. Blooming addresses the joy Kaur finally found coming to love and accept her roots, herself, and the world around her. She also comes to realize her mission in this world: equality and love for all genders, races and backgrounds.

4: I Found My Tribe by Ruth Fitzmaurice (Vintage Publishing)

Ruth's tribe are her lively children and her filmmaker husband, Simon, who has Motor Neurone Disease and can only communicate with his eyes. Ruth's other 'tribe' are the friends who gather at the cove in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, and regularly throw themselves into the freezing cold water, just for kicks. 'The Tragic Wives' Swimming Club', as they jokingly call themselves, meet to cope with the extreme challenges life puts in their way, not to mention the monster waves rolling over the horizon. An invocation to all of us to love as hard as we can, and live even harder, I Found My Tribe is an urgent and uplifting letter to a husband, family, friends, the natural world and the brightness of life.

8: The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin (Harper Collins Publishers)

The author of the bestselling 40 Ways to Look at Winston Churchill has produced a work that is "a cross between the Dalai Lama's The Art of Happiness and Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love." The Happiness Project describes one person's year-long attempt to discover what leads to true contentment. Drawing at once on cutting-edge science, classical philosophy, and real-world applicability, Rubin has written an engaging, eminently relatable chronicle of transformation.

9: Normal People by Sally Rooney (Faber and Faber)

They vow to transform us into upbeat, organised souls who go for jogs at 7 am in the morning and always have perfectly ironed clothes, but Marianne realises that maybe the help they’re offering isn’t as beneficial as it may seem.

While many of us are busy saving the pennies for a flight to Thailand, or packing our bags for another city break, we often turn a blind eye to the amazing holiday destination dotted around this little island of ours.

Sure, a drive to Tramore might induce a deep-rooted flashback from that one family trip when it lashed rain for six days straight and you and your brother vowed to never speak to each other again, but hey, it's time to forget about the past and make some new memories.

First stop – Lahinch.

Located on the northwest coast of Clare, the small seaside town has made a name for itself as one of Ireland's top tourist destinations – and here's why. .

1. It's a surfer's paradise

OK, so it's not exactly Bondi Beach, but ask any water-sports type and they'll tell you that the waves off the Clare coast are some of the best in the world.

Whether you're a seasoned surfer, or a complete beginner, there are a plenty of instructors offering lessons and board rental for reasonable prices.

But don't worry if surfing isn't your thing, there are plenty of other ways to experience the Atlantic coast, like kayaking and guided beach tours.

2. It's full of mouth-watering restaurants

While the seaside town is packed of restaurants and cafés offering delectable dishes, there happens to be one particular eatery that's close to our hearts.

Serving a mix of foods from around the world, Randaddy's on Lahinch Beach Front is a firm favourite with local and tourists alike.

The owner, Randy is Canadian and travels the world learning different food styles to bring them back to the restaurant – and with that kind of dedicated, it's no wonder the food is so bloody delicious!

3. The landscape is simply stunning

Load you mates into the Micra, stick on your ultimate 90s playlist, and take a drive along the Atlantic coast.

Soak in the breath-taking ocean views, make your geography teacher proud with a trip to the Burren, or spend an afternoon exploring  the Cliffs of Moher.

Whatever way you choose to spend the day, you can be sure you'll be doing it in some of the most beautiful surroundings the country has to offer.

When the waves curl over and dissolve into foam..

4. It's pretty much the mecca of trad sessions

While you may not qualify as a tourist per se, there's no reason why you can't immerse yourself in the local culture.

There's nothing like a bit of a sing-song to ignite a bit of national pride, and with regular sessions taking place all year round, you'll be surprised at how few drinks it takes you start belting out the chorus of The Auld Triangle

Check out Danny Mac's where the bodhráns are banging every Thursday and Sunday night from 9:30pm.

5. It's got some of the country's most breath-taking walking trails

OK, hear us out – you're not going on a relaxing weekend away to walk the legs off yourself, but maybe this will will change your mind.

Starting in Lahinch, walkers can embark on a coastal trail along a dismantled railway line, leading all the way to Kilrush.

The entire thing is about 45 km long – and while we'd like to think we'd be well able, we've got to think realistically.

Instead, we recommend talking the same trail to Spanish Point – a breezy (and far more achievable) 13 km.

Coca-Cola is bringing back its hugely successful Designated Driver campaign this year in order to encourage the nation to give the 'Gift of a Lift this' December.

The campaign will offer free soft drinks to any drivers who stay sober to bring their loved ones home safely throughout Christmas; what a fab way to motivate us.

The Road Safety Authority and Coca-Cola HBC Ireland are joining forces to keep our roads safe, especially during a time where the pubs are full of people celebrating the season.

Over the last 14 years, over €7 million has been invested by Coca-Cola into the campaign to promote road safety, and have rewarded countless Christmas heroes who helped their friends and families get to where they needed to go.

The role of the Designated Driver can be a tedious one, but it's never worth the alternative. Getting yourself and your close friends and family home is the perfect way to give to them this Christmas.

An Garda Síochána, the Road Safety Authority and Drinkaware are all supporters of the campaign, which has local and national heroes such as GAA stars as its representatives.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross said;

“For many people, December will be a month of celebration; the way to ensure that the season remains festive is to plan ahead…so please, don’t drink and drive, instead travel with a designated driver and ensure you and your loved ones all get to 2019 safely.”

Any Designated Drivers can visit www.DesignatedDriver.ie to download a voucher for two free soft drinks, which can be presented at over 1000 pubs across Ireland. Otherwise they can simply make themselves known to bar staff.

I can think of a good few people who will be wanting the 'Gift of a Lift' this year, that's for sure.

We're particularly fond of the Medium/Deep palette – which includes, like it's Fair sister, an Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighter, Blush and Bronzing Powder with rich, peachy undertones.

Next up is the selection of Party Favours – little quads of cosmetics in jewel-toned sealed cellophane.

These kits host four of MAC's iconic dazzle pigments – and for a mere €24.00.

The iconic brand have also followed down the youngest Kardashian-Jenner's path by combining their bestselling lipsticks and lip liners to create kits.

The Goody Bag Lip Trios come in stunning makeup bags, with a neutral trio and a red trio to choose from.

We all know the feeling of sitting down to get some work done on your laptop, and then before you know it it's hours later and all you've done is watch multiple documentaries on YouTube and put in an ASOS order.

The power of procrastination is strong, and we need all the help we can get when it comes to keeping our minds focused when sitting down to a task.

Here are a few handy hints to keep the procrastination at bay:

7. Stop multitasking

While it may seem like a good idea to spread your attention out over multiple tasks, stopping and starting on a task disrupts the creative flow.

Seeing a project through from start to finish, if possible, before moving on to another is the best way to go.

Image result for multitasking

6. Establish a good to-do list

Having a to-do list is always a good idea. A personal tip of ours is to put one or two things you've already finished on the list for that added sense of accomplishment.

However, don't put every little task on the list, otherwise you may start to feel overwhelmed.

If there are any tasks that can be completed in five minutes or less, such as making a phone call or doing laundry, then do them straight away.

5. Work out efficiently

Rather than doing an hour at the gym at mid-intensity, doing a high-intensity half-hour class will save you time while also getting your workout in.

Classes also give you different exercise options, and the opportunity to try new things.

Image result for work out funny

4. Stop distractions

Honestly, how often do you check your Instagram at work when you should be, you know, working?

Turning off all your social media notifications can minimise distractions from the online universe, and help you get sh*t done.

3. Make the most of commuting

Got a long commute? Use this time to your advantage.

If you're in college, read over your notes or reading materials on the go.

Your commute is also the perfect place to listen to informative podcasts, or learn a new language, although reciting French verbs on the Luas may get you some funny looks.

Try an app like Duolingo where you have the option to tell the app that you are not available to speak, but can still do the other language exercises.

Image result for commuting

2. Maintain a tidy workspace

Keeping your space tidy can help you maintain your focus, as you won't be distracted by things getting in your way.

Keep your pens and notebooks or any other materials you may need in your desk so you don't have to waste any time by getting up and searching for them as you go.

1. Take a break

Taking breaks is really important for productivity levels to give your brain a rest.

Once you finish a big task, don't go straight on to the next one, take some time to have a cup of tea or go for a walk before sitting down to the to-do list once again.

What on earth is a 'sex recession' and why are our generation having less sex?

Kate Julian, writing for the American publication The Atlantic, has carried out research regarding the latest sexual habits of our generation, and it's fair to say her findings were pretty damn surprising.

Despite our culture of sexualisation, Grindr, Tinder dating and normalised pornography, apparently we are having less sex than our parent's generation. Eh, that is NOT COOL.

Cases of HIV are at an all-time low, birth control is far easier to acquire and the internet has a ridiculous amount of information (often inaccurate) about sex, so why are we not engaging in sexual activity as much?

A post shared by The Atlantic (@theatlantic) on

Julian claimed that in American high schools:

"Teens are launching their sex lives later. From 1991 to 2017, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s Youth Risk Behaviour Survey finds, the percentage of high-school students who’d had intercourse dropped from 54 to 40 percent."

Jean M. Twenge, a psychology professor at San Diego State University, has argued that our generation are on course to have fewer sexual partners in our lifetime.

Twenge also found that the average adult went from having sex 62 times a year to 54 times, using data from the General Social Survey. Well, this is alarming.

Helen Fisher, co-director of Match.com’annual Singles in America survey of more than 5,000 'unpartnered' Americans, stated:

"The data is that people are having less sex,” she said, with a hint of mischief, according to Julian. Mischief… not managed?!

A post shared by Chris Kohatsu (@chriskohatsu) on

Julian argues that in America, “about 60 percent of adults under age 35 now live without a spouse or a partner.”

Japan is one of the most fascinating cultures to study sexually, they are one of the world's biggest porn producers and consumers, yet are having a HUGE demographic crisis.

None of them are having sex. Legit, NONE.

In Japan in 2015, 43 percent of young people (ages 18 to 34) were virgins. 47 percent of married couples said it had been more than a month since they had sex.

I have so many questions. One of them being, why are we waiting until later in life to have sex?

According to studies, porn is a prominent factor in terms of the sexual decline. Or rather, the decline in our generation having sex with each other, having a human experience.

Apparently, porn means that men and women are having sex with themselves instead.

Maureen O’Connor recently described the porn preference popularised in Japan, hentai, and how it transmogrifies body parts. It's unrealistic, fantasy and almost hallucinatory.

The supernatural is eroticised, allowing sex to become a total escape, but yet it's not based in the real world.

Debby Herbenick ascertains that young people today are more likely to engage in sexual behaviours which are prevalent in porn, which might be scaring some people off, seeing as porn nowadays is FULL of hugely violent tendencies towards women.

This would easily put people off sex, to be fair, if someone tries a random sex act which they saw in porn, without the partner's consent or enjoyment.

Julian cites a few reasons such as:

Parental pressure

Julian describes the term "helicopter parents,” as parental anxiety regarding their children’s educational and economic prospects. Peer pressure from parents has resulted in a deterrence from romance.

Parents are telling their kids to focus on building their academic credentials instead of investing in romantic relationships

They are also giving their kids less private time, and less alone time for potential sexy-times. No sign of Regina George's "cool mom" vibes here then…

Issues with Dating Apps

Less people are actually going on dates, social skills have drastically decreased (maybe because of… THE INTERNET numbing our brains..)

Kate Julian discovered that Tinder actually tends to be a colossal waste of time. The average person takes more than 60 swipes to get a single match, and most matches don't even result in a conversation.

Matches are not evenly distributed, Julian claims that the "highly photogenic" people (a nice way of saying the Hot People) are the only ones who get proper use from it. Sound.

Maybe just give it a minute, stupid

A post shared by Unspirational (@tindernightmares) on

Today, the company says it logs 1.6 billion swipes a day, and yet only 26 million matches

Julian also feels that Tinder can lead to troubling consequences, where casual conversations or social cues can now come across as creepy.

To be fair, women (and men) statistically are seeing a lot of assault and danger from dating apps, so she could hold her judgement there about us being cautious.

If it is seen as problematic to ask people out by approaching them randomly, or even online, finding opportunities to have sex realistically is going to be a challenge.

get mtv GIF

Body consciousness and inhibition

Women especially are worried about their bodies, and there is a new-found nervousness of nakedness, despite it being all over the media and entertainment industry.

Inhibition is a major factor in the sexual decline, as inhibition prevents orgasm. Without orgasm, and with anxiety, people are drastically turned off sex.

Ian Kerner, the New York sex therapist says that women are rebuffing their sexual partners in terms of oral sex because they hate how their vagina looks:

“I know the stereotype is often that men are the ones who don’t want to perform it, but I find the reverse,” he said.

“A lot of women will say when I’m talking to them privately, ‘I just can’t believe that a guy wants to be down there, likes to do that. It’s the ugliest part of my body.’ ”

Self-consciousness is a mood killer, for sure.

Anxiety levels have surged in recent years, our generation has helped to de-stigmatise mental health, but this means there is an increase of people on anti-depressants; notorious libido killers.

Julian suggests that today’s young adults may struggle more with these issues.

Hook-ups Instead of Romantic Relationships

Hook-up culture is on the rise, which means that people are dating less often and are less likely to have steady relationships.

Kate Julian’s summarised Lisa Wade’s book, American Hookup: The New Culture of Sex on Campus, as follows:

“Roughly one-third were…”abstainers” – they opted out of hook-up culture entirely. A little more than a third were “dabblers” – they hooked up sometimes, but ambivalently."

"Less than a quarter were 'enthusiasts,” who delighted in hooking up. The remainder were in long-term relationships.”

It goes to show, you never really know what's going on with other people's sex lives.

Painful sex

The sex which many young people are having is apparently painful, or just plain bad, because there is no valid communication.

People nowadays are also more willing to say no, to only have sex when they are in the mood, and not just to please others.

Julian writes that young adults are carrying out sex acts popularised by porn, such as anal sex and choking (asphyxiation).

She says that studies show “in the absence of high-quality sex education, teen boys look to porn for help understanding sex.” This is bad, trust me.

Many women, it turns out, are simply not enjoying sex in terms of penetration (anal and vaginal).

In 2012, Julian notes, 30 percent of women experienced pain during vaginal intercourse and a whopping 72 percent said that the anal sex they experienced was painful. Yikes.

In hookup culture, women experiencing orgasm is rare. Julian described, just 31 percent of men and an INSANE low of 11 percent of women were experiencing orgasm in hookups. God help us.

It's hard to deny that #MeToo has possibly put a lot of people off sex, especially hookup culture.

We have to learn how to trust people again, and truly understand consent, so our personal sexuality can grow in a safe manner.

Growth of masturbation: Lovin' Yo'self.

Self-love is on the rise, according to Julian.

This is possibly due to huge range of pornographic content found online, especially in books and erotic fiction for women.

From 1992 to 2014, masturbation doubled for men and more than tripled for women (26 percent! YAS ladies).

As of 2014, 54 percent of men claim that they masturbate every week at least.

An issue with Kate Julian's arguments is that there is an element of blame for single people.

Her sources appeared to be quite anti-casual sex, anti-porn and anti-masturbation, despite the fact that women need masturbation especially to find out what they like.

Also the benefits of being single are huge. Statistics show that married people are not happier than singles, and that divorce rates remain high. Married people aren't even having more sex than single people.

Author and sociologist Bella dePaulo Ph.D. agreed:

"Maybe instead of spending 15 printed magazine pages explaining the decreasing frequency of sex among young adults, most of whom are single, Julian should have instead focused more of her attention on married people."

Her iconic 2004 work Singled Out: How Singles are Stereotyped, Stigmatized, and Ignored, and Still Live Happily Ever After, follows this idea.

Why are rates of sex decreasing for married people?

Instead of judging people for how they live their sexual lives, maybe we should take the pressure off them and leave them alone, hmm?

Especially since asexuality is now recognised as a sexual orientation, rather than a dysfunction.

We are learning so much in recent eras about sex and human nature, but I think the crucial issue is shame. Remove the shame from the equation, and we can communicate our needs and desires, and express ourselves sexually.

Do what you feel comfortable with, find what you like, and always make sure you feel safe and trust who you are with.

Our hearts are breaking.

One Strictly couple, rumoured to be in the throes of a passionate love affair, have poured cold water all over the whispers.

Yes, Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell have addressed rumours that they are an item.

While their amazing chemistry is what's been sparking rumours of a romance, it is something that Joe strongly denies.

Boooo!

The 27-year-old said,  "There's nothing in it – if we were dating everyone would see it.''

He continued, "Rumours like this have gone on throughout the show's history. I understood before signing up that it's something people really get into."

It seems that people speculating about his love life is not something the YouTube vlogger is a big fan of.

He said, ''Obviously it's a bit weird to be drawn into that stuff for me. It's not nice – it's something you can't control."

Dianne was pictured heading to Joe's flat training, which obvs added fuel to the fire.

In a YouTube video that came out later, Joe says, "We're getting the video in early this week, check us out. It's the end of the week and we're already smashing it out. Go team Joanne. As you can see, Dianne and myself. We're in my house."

He joked, "Dianne's around my house, I can't believe it. That can only mean one thing, Dianne's around my house for a YouTube video, it must mean we're going out with each other."

Dianne added, "It must mean that. Hello, boyfriend."

Well, we better not rush out to buy our hats any time soon.

Strictly continues this Saturday on BBC One at 7:05pm.

If there is one thing that can divide a family at the Christmas dinner table, it's Brussels sprouts.

The flavoursome festive vegetable is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it dinner item, but they are a staple part of the festive season.

Now, you're in luck if you love the little green veg, because Walkers have created a Brussels sprout flavoured crisp for Christmas.

Walkers marketing manager, Andrew Hawkswell told Nottinghamshire Live: 'Here at Walkers we know that Christmas isn’t Christmas without sprouts.'

'Whether you grin or grimace at the sight of them, nothing divides the nation more at Christmas than a sprout – so we have created two Christmas Dinner multipacks, one for sprout lovers and one for haters to keep the peace this festive season.'

The ‘sprout lover’ includes three flavours, Brussels Sprouts, Turkey & Stuffing and Pigs in Blankets, while the ‘sprout hater’ comprises of Glazed Ham, Turkey & Stuffing and Cheese & Cranberry.

The weird and wonderful crisps are definitely a festive talking point.
