NASA has released the first image of the spacecraft InSight from the surface of Mars. 

The snap, released via the spacecraft's own Twitter page, shows the probe on the red surface of the planet

Arguably, this could be considered the first ever selfie on Mars, and to be fair, if it took us 7 months to get somewhere, we would be taking a selfie when we arrived too. 

The craft launched  on May 5th of the year and landed yesterday, November 26th 2018. 

The craft landed in an area called the Elysium Planitia, a relatively flay, sandy area on the planet. 

This area, on the planet's equator, was chosen specifically, as the craft would be unable to land and set itself up properly on Mars' rocky, cratered Northern hemisphere. 

'Today, we successfully landed on Mars for the eighth time in human history,' said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. 

'InSight will study the interior of Mars and will teach us valuable science as we prepare to send astronauts to the Moon and later to Mars.'

'This accomplishment represents the ingenuity of America and our international partners, and it serves as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our team.'

'The best of NASA is yet to come, and it is coming soon.'

NASA hopes to have a human land on Mars in the late 2030s.

On this horrible, rainy, windy day, we could all do with a little cheering up, right?

Oprah Winfrey has announced the passing of her beloved mother Vernita Lee.

The talk show host confirmed the devastating news to Today, telling of her mum’s tragic death on Thanksgiving.

She also shared a family photo on her Instagram page in remembrance of Vernita.

“Thank you all for your kind words and condolences regarding my mother Vernita Lee’s passing,” she wrote.

“It gives our family great comfort knowing she lived a good life and is now at Peace.”

Vernita was born on May 2, 1935, and lived until the old age of 83.

Her and Oprah have always been close and they were glad she was able to reunite with the entire family before her passing.

Vernita gave birth to Oprah in Mississippi in 1954 and then moved her family to Milwaukee, where the TV star was raised.

The mum leaves behind her eldest Oprah and her daughter Patricia Amanda Faye.

She also has four grandchildren and a great grandchild, all of whom will miss her dearly.

The funeral has already been held and was open to close family only.

We send our condolences to Oprah and her family during this hard time.

Storm Diana has hit harder than expected with lashing rain and strong winds throughout the day.

And, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to clear up any time soon.

Met Éireann has issued a nationwide yellow warning for Ireland.

High winds are predicted to gust up to 110 km/hour and there as an increased risk of coastal flooding.

In latest news, southwest counties have been upgraded to an orange alert due to dangerous winds and high seas.

Counties Wexford, Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford have been urged to remain on high alert due to weather warnings.

Southwest winds in these areas may reach as high as 130 km/hour.

Met Éireann has urged southwest residents to be prepared for the anticipated conditions and expect things to grow worse later tonight.

In Dublin, rain has almost reached the eight millimetre mark and continues to pour.

Wind warnings have been issued for tomorrow and people are recommended to stay inside on Wednesday.

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue for a few more hours and will most likely cause surface flooding.

Also, heavy traffic delays are in place. Dublin Port, which was forced to close due to strong winds, has reopened. The quays are heavily congested as well.

This week, all eyes were on Love island alum Eyal Booker, when it was rumoured that he has a very famous new girlfriend. 

The reality TV star was connected to pop singer and actress Rita Ora, and fans were all about it.

Disney has released the first trailer for their adaptation of Artemis Fowl.

Written by Eoin Colfer, the iconic, children’s series follows the story of a 12-year-old criminal mastermind.

The anti-hero kidnaps the fairy LEPrecon officer Holly Short for ransom to fund the search for his missing father.

The film has been long in the making due to rights’ issues and production delays, but it is officially underway and in its final stages.

It is directed by Kenneth Branagh (Murder on the Orient Express) and stars big Hollywood names like Judi Dench, Miranda Raison, Josh Gad, and Nonso Anozie.

Artemis is played by newcomer Ferdia Shaw, who seems like the perfect sinister fit in the trailer.

The sneak peek places us in Colfer’s fantastical, underground world where advanced technology reigns supreme.

That is until young Artemis steps on the scene. He begins his master plan to find his missing father by any means necessary, even if it includes taking on the fairies. 

The teaser reveals that the film will be released in August 2019.

This is why it was so surprising to fans when she revealed that she has dabbled in ecstasy in her past – specifically during two major moments. 

On Sunday night's episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she told Kendall Jenner and Scott Disick that she was using the drug when she made her infamous sex tape, and when she got married to her first husband.

I got married on ecstasy the first time,' Kim said, in response to Scott asking about a story of Kim going to an amusement park when she was high.

'I did ecstasy once and I got married.'

Kim married music producer Damon Thomas in 2000 and the couple divorced in 2004.

The 2004 classic teen movie is heavily parodies in the short clip, opening wth YouTube star Colleen Ballinger posing as a pregnant teenager.

Mirroring the cult classic LiLo movie, Collen says, “One time on Twitter, I heard that Ariana was pregnant, so I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time.''

She continues, “Turns out it was just a rumour.”

Jonathan Bennet, who played Lindsay's love interest Aaron, also takes the p*ss out of another line from the movie when he says, “Ariana Grande told me my hair looked sexy pushed back. She’s not wrong.”

As well as all of that, there is even a a not-so-veiled ref to Ariana's engagement to Pete Davidson ending.

The 25-year-old has been teasing us on social media over the last few days, posting amazing pics from behind the scenes, dressed as Regina George and posing with the infamous Burn Book.
