Blogger Louise Cooney is lending her influence in order to raise vital funds for a very worthy cause.
The fashion and lifestyle content creator is encouraging her following to join her as she supports The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s annual Denim Day for Dementia fundraising campaign. The campaign will culminate on Friday, March 8th with a target of raising €25,000 for dementia services.
The Denim Day for Dementia campaign is asking everyone from around Ireland to wear their denims – to crèche, school or to their place of work – on the day and donate just €2 to the cause.
This donation will go towards supporting the 55,000 people living with dementia in Ireland, and their carers.
The ASI must raise over €3 million every year to be able to continue to help those impacted by dementia, and with 4,000 new diagnoses of dementia each year, the pressure on services is growing day by day.
'I’m delighted to be showing my support for the Denim Day for Dementia fundraising campaign which will help thousands of families living with dementia in Ireland,' Louise said of the campaign.
'Dementia is something that is very close to my heart and I want to get younger people talking about the impact of dementia on society; it’s one of the biggest health challenges that we are facing.'
'Each year over 4,000 people develop dementia. That’s at least 11 people every day and anyone can get dementia – even people in their 30s/40s/50s. Please support Denim Day for Dementia and help raise much-needed funds and public awareness for people with dementia around the country.'
'I will be wearing my denims on Friday, March 8th and I encourage everyone to do the same.'
Members of the public can order their Denim Day for Dementia Pack by registering online at www.alzheimer.ie or by contacting our fundraising team on (01) 2073848.
The ASI provides supports and services in local communities around Ireland and provides a range of services including day care, home care, family carer training, social clubs and Alzheimer Cafes. Lifestyle, Travel & Fashion Blogger
Kevin Hart has been forced to defend himself yet again after he sent prayers to Jussie Smollet, the Empire actor who experienced a recent horrific racist and homophobic attack.
The 35-year-old singer and actor was hospitalised after a savage attack in which a noose was put around his neck and bleach was poured on him, with the assailants shouting 'This is MAGA country' in a racially-motivated attack.
The homophobic and racist hate crime sparked anger all over America, with celebrities tweeting their support for the actor. Kevin Hart sent the actor prayers through his social media accounts, with the 39-year-old tweeting;
Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett ….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world???? Why… https://t.co/G6vCnKPEhf
"Sending prayers your way Jussie Smollett ….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world?"
"Why are we falling in love with hate? God damn it people….Choose love…I repeat…Choose love. I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Stand strong brother," he concluded.
The tweet sparked yet more backlash online, following the controversy which lead to him stepping down from hosting the 2019 Oscars. A series of homophobic tweets were uncovered from the past, featuring jokes about beating up a gay son.
One social media user responded: "Do you see why the “jokes” weren’t funny now?”, while another replied with one of Kevin’s polarising past tweets reading:
‘”Yo if my son comes home and tries to play with my daughters doll house I’m going to break it over his head and say 'stop that’s gay.'”
Podcaster and writer Ira Madison quote-tweeted Kevin’s tweet about Jussie and wrote: "Your funniest joke congrats." This was the final straw for Hart, who responded with a tweet of his own.
I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my 10yr past that I have apologized about and moved on from by being a better person. Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do…CHANGE! https://t.co/Ybbo8OYKTt
"I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my ten year past that I have apologised about and moved on from by being a better person. Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do…CHANGE!" he wrote.
Ira replied, saying;
"I 'harp' because my community of black queer people face violence 365 days in America and when we tried to tell you that we weren’t trolling you but wanted to educate how your jokes lead to actions like what happened to Jussie, you went on Ellen to talk about your wheelchair movie."
Fans of Kevin Hart chose to defend him, saying that he has shown remorse for his past actions and praising him for his support of Jussie.
Hart refused to host the Oscars after the controversy, and Ellen DeGeneres gave him a platform to speak about his past homophobic actions.
The Chicago Police Department have just released CCTV images of two persons of interest in the Smollett case. Nine days ago, he was sent a letter in the post to Fox Studios which read: ‘You will die black f*ggot".
He has received negative attention from racist and homophobic people in America as a result of his role in Empire, where he portrays a rising gay, black singer in the music industry.
James Charles. Manny MUA. Jeffree Star. Wayne Goss. Bretman Rock. All men serving iconic lewks with massive followings in the ultra competitive YouTube beauty industry.
Long gone is the stereotype that makeup is just for women – men have been displaying sick skills in makeup application for hundreds of years since the origins of drag, and now men wearing makeup on the daily is celebrated across social media.
Last week, James Charles cause huge waves in Birmingham, when 8,000 of his fans showed up at a shopping centre to watch him open a brand new Morphe store.
Viewers did not appreciate her comment, seeing it as dismissive of the influence and skills possessed by some of the biggest names in digital beauty in their opinion.
Her comment was originally picked up by YouTuber Callum Markie, who tweeted a recording of the segment and said: ‘Says the 50 year old woman on national tv whining about what a 19 year old puts on their face just because their name isn’t Stephanie.'
'I really hope the grand kids are proud.’
James Charles himself replied to the tweet, saying: 'That’s okay, my makeup tips are reserved for the other 14 million people that are excited to learn & express themselves.'
Danish band Lukas Graham have landed in hot water after covering the late rapper XXXTenacion's song SAD!, claiming to have no knowledge of his violent past.
The track was covered as a stripped-down version for the Spotify Singles series, and now the lead singer Lukas Forchammer has stated that the song will be removed from streaming services.
He posted a now-deleted statement to Instagram, writing; “Our cover of ‘SAD!’ will be taken down ASAP. I had no knowledge of his violent history. I’m very sorry for the pain I’ve caused. Again, I’m very sorry.”
The band allegedly had no clue about the deceased rap artist's controversial history with the law.
At the time of his death back in 2016, he was facing trial for a number of charges including false imprisonment and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman.
The band's apology referenced XXX's domestic abuse charges from October 2016, after he was shot and killed in June of that year.
XXXtenacion was charged with false imprisonment, witness tampering, and aggravated battery of a pregnant victim in OCTOBER 2016. Even after all of this he dropped his album on August 25th 2017 and his album still fucking debuted number 2 on the Billboard 200.
The 20-year-old's multi-platinum-selling posthumous album ? has been boosted and featured by a number of famous hip-hop and rap artists.
The rapper confessed to “f*cking up” his ex-girlfriend, in addition to a number of other violent crimes in a secret video which was made public after his death.
Real name Jahseh Onfroy said in an interview with the podcast No Jumper that he nearly killed his gay prison inmate who was staring at him. He laughed throughout the interview, showing no remorse.
"I was going crazy,” he told the interviewer. “I smear his blood on my face, on my hands. I got it, like, in my nails. I got it all over me. I was going f*cking crazy.”
The Fyre Festival has gone down as one of the greatest fails of the modern era; the celebrity endorsed festival was branded as the elite, luxurious partying experience. Think Coachella but on a tropical island.
The intention of the festival was to promote the Fyre music booking app, scheduled to go ahead on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma in April and May of 2017.
Social media influencers and socialites like Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin, Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid were all promoters of the festival, many of whom failed to mention that they were being paid to promote it.
As everyone figured out pretty damn quick, the event was a complete SHAMBLES.
Problems relating to food, security, and accommodation arose, and they also had no artists to play as they couldn't even travel to the island.
Instead of the luxury they branded and were promised, influencers paid thousands of dollars to be housed in FEMA tents, and eat prepackaged sandwiches. All hell broke loose, as you can imagine. Rich folks like to be treated as such…
The organisers are now the subject of at least eight lawsuits, such as defrauding ticket buyers and millions of dollars of damages. CEO of Fyre Media Inc, Billy McFarland, has been charged with wire fraud and in 2018 was sentenced to six years in prison.
Just watched #FyreFestival on Netflix last night and it was mind blowing. A must-watch. The power of social media and influencer marketing can turn anyone into a consumer of a dream. Also I want #BillyMcFarland to stay in jail after ruining so many lives in the Bahamas! pic.twitter.com/NkH6hILh76
Hulu and Netflix have each released documentaries on the failure, Fyre Fraud and Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. The festival and it's employers had a hugely negative impact on people who live on the island itself.
A GoFundMe was set up for one amazing woman living on the island who helped to cater for the festival, but was never given any form of payment.
I have no compassion for the nimrods who paid hundreds of thousands to attend Fyre Festival, but can we please recognize this amazing woman who just wanted to help, do her job, and improve her country’s economy? #hero#maryannrollepic.twitter.com/D4sE5GshOK
The GoFundMe has now SURPASSED it's $123,000 goal, miraculously. Maryann Rolle, who owns the venue, gave $50,000 of her own money into the event to attempt to cover costs and pay the additional staff who were flown in to meet demands.
In the description, she wrote; "As I make this plea it’s hard to believe and embarrassing to admit that I was not paid…I was left in a big hole! My life was changed forever, and my credit was ruined by Fyre Fest."
Luckily, the account raised $128,000 in just one week, so Maryann can get her life back on track. Oh, the follies of rich people, typically tramping on those less fortunate than them. Fulfilling the stereotype never looked so trashy.
Now, some absolute GENIUS has created a mock Fyre Festival to take the absolute PISS out of influencers who paid thousands of cash for trash, and marketed it without mentioning their affiliation to their followers.
An artist has created an INSTALLATION which allows members of the public to pretend they're at the real life Fyre Festival, and it's hilarious.
Infamous creative The Most Famous Artist (Real name Matty Mo) and his company SelfieCircus have created The Fyre Experience, and we are living for this classy humour.
They've got a Bahamas backdrop, cardboard cut-outs of pretentious influencers, pathetic sandwiches to create a realistic portrayal of the shambolic festival.
Remember Andy King and the NSFW experience he was told to perform in order to get Evian water through customs? We wonder have they somehow inserted him into their joke..
Bravo, this is pure gold. Visitors to Mo's installation are promised an ''ultra luxurious" experience and VIP packages, only to meet disappointment.
The recreation of the 'beach front' hot tub full of Evian bottles and a sandy beach background honestly has us cackling, these lads went ALL OUT.
There's an Orange Square selfie spot and fake piggies for all those who want in on the joke. Our personal favourite addition is Billy McFarland in a prison outfit in the background. Gas.
'Ex-influencers' looking for work wielding cardboard signs are also present, naturally. The influencers who were paid to endorse an absolute sham have deservedly been given a slagging.
They're already annoying as hell, but when you market something as elitist as a private island festival for thousands of dollars which almost ruins the lives of those who actually LIVE on the island, be prepared to face some serious consequences.
Yes Bella Hadid, we're looking at you over our cat-eye sunglasses.
The fake private jet also makes a guest reappearance. This was one of Mo's previous installations, and allows people to take those all important selfies and create a glamorous, false illusion for Instagram.
The things we do for the 'gram, honestly. It's slightly depressing. Mo spoke to Insider about the mock festival, saying;
“This is a satire and experience meant to drive offline to online engagement. We call this participatory art. I created the project to ride a cultural wave created by Netflix and Hulu. I hope to show that participatory art is the future of retail.”
Located in Los Angeles, the pop-up 'experience laboratory' is free to attend and celebrities have schedules appearances. We can't wait to see the pics from this, we stan a good slagging.
We. Feckin'. Love. Takeaway. Honestly, there is nothing better than coming home after the longest, toughest day at work, squaring up to the cooker for a few minutes before thinking 'nah, it's a takeout night.'
Then comes the exceptional joy of opening up your delivery app of choice and perusing a world's worth of global cuisines. Bliss.
So when we heard that Kylie Jenner loves takeaway just as much as us – spending $10,000 on one delivery app alone, we were intrigued.
Clearly she's living her best life, selecting snacks and cuisines at will – and lets be real if we had the funds for a ten grand takeaway budget, we would do the same.

Iconic singer Kylie Minogue has been left 'very shaken' after a man refused to leave her London home, and launched 'sustained campaign' of harassment, The Sun reported.
Following a complaint by the singer, the man has been issued with a harassment warning. Police were called to a house in Chelsea and Kensington on January 23, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The mystery man reportedly asked her neighbours where the 50-year-old singer lived, and then pressed the intercom, refusing to leave. Security has since been increased at her West London house as a result.
The man, who is in his 40s, was lurking around her home for days, and her neighbours spotted him a number of times requesting to know where Kylie lives.
A nearby resident in West London said: "It came to a head when the man repeatedly pressed the intercom button to her home for hours on end last week and refused to leave."
The resident continued; "Kylie was quite upset and called in police. They spoke to Kylie, and also the suspect in the street for quite a while." She has taken 'sensible steps' to stop this from happening again.
Another neighbour said: "A weirdo guy was lurking around. He went door to door asking people where Kylie lived." The man repeated the singer's name again and again, in a disturbing manner.
The apparent stalker was described as wearing a raincoat and possessing a European accent.
The star suffered another security issue a few months ago when a man made threats against her before her German performance in November.
She was then guarded by 20 police officers who were armed at her next concert in Belgium. Images of the suspect were plastered around the venue and all male concert-goers were frisked heavily.
Kylie as been seen enjoying her West London neighbourhood with her boyfriend, Paul Solomons. The 43-year-old is the creative director at British GQ and GQ Style magazine, and the pair went public last summer.
The singer was previously engaged to British actor Joshua Sasse, but they parted ways in February 2017. Kylie achieved her sixth UK number one last year when Golden reached the number one spot.
A number of celebrities have been plagued by stalkers and have been forced to hire extra protection or relocate, such as Tom Hardy and his wife Charlotte Riley, Noel Edmonds and Christine Lampard.

Nowadays, when some of us need career and lifestyle guidance, Instagram has taken over as one of the leading platforms to imitate those whose lives we'd love to lead.
However, when it comes to so many of the primary influencers, the image looks pretty far from reality, not to mention relatability.
Luckily for us, BBC broadcaster, style guru and journalist Angela Scanlon is renowned for her Irish charm, her gorgeous style and her affiliation with Irish brands.
From studying business in college to making the big move across the pond and making it as a stylist and broadcaster, we could DEFINITELY use some of her advice.
We stopped by the launch of Aer Lingus and Bank of Ireland's collaborative project; the new Aer Credit Card, to chat with Angela.
Acting as their new brand ambassador, she gives us some travel tips, career path wisdom and self-care supplements. The card itself sounds like an unreal choice; with two free lounge passes, two priority boarding passes and two return flights to Europe once you hit the 5000 euro spending amount as well as travel insurance on offer. The gal chooses her partners wisely, that's for sure.
As well as boosting Irish companies, she splits her time between London and Dublin while taking care of her daughter Ruby Ellen, who turns one this February.
Since her time at Xpose and Off The Rails back in 2008, Angela has gone from strength to strength on her career path. She now works as a BBC presenter for The One Show, Robot Wars and acts as a panellist for big UK names.
How did she go from studying business to practising fashion guru? Picking out stunner styles is a lot harder than it looks, we suspect…
"In a nutshell, I studied business, I then set up a stall in the loft, I started personal shopping in Dundrum and from there I went into TV as a pundit doing fashion news and trends. From there I knew I really liked TV, and I started pitching fashion programme ideas at the time and then Oi, Ginger, which was the first documentary I did. It all kicked off from there," she says.
We're taking notes in our pristine fashion bible for future reference, and are working up the courage to enquire about her haircare routine. (Those auburn locks are just mesmerising)
"It was a slightly zig-zaggy way of doing things, but I think that was an absolute blessing. At the time I thought ‘Oh God, it’s taking me ten years to figure all of this out’, but actually having had that path often gives me a different perspective and different approach, which I think is a good thing.”
‘I always say to people who think they’ve done the wrong thing, having studied the thing that they want to do ultimately, that actually there are ways of turning that into an advantage. It’s never too late," she continues.
" thought, when I got to London that I was too old to get a break there. You had to be 22 and kind of fresh, whereas I was almost 30 at that stage when I went there. It’s never too late to do what you want to do, but start somewhere.”
The presenter has been open towards her social media followers in the past when it comes to feeling burnt out, trying to make it in an alien city.
One Instagram post in particular saw Angela open up about life as an Irish gal abroad, looking to make a name for herself;
"London was so SO alien to me at that point , I was coming over here with a smile on my face knocking on doors and showing up every single day. Meanwhile I was working for myself in Ireland, trying to build a career in both countries and not really believing I deserved one in either. I was so hideously lonely, I couldn’t find my way around the Tube, I felt constantly out of my depth & I was riddled with self-doubt. I was blindly focused and so terrified I would fail that I didn’t have time to do anything on a personal level… my relationship was under strain, my friends had lost me and my family, although supportive, did wonder what the hell I was doing it for," she wrote.
"I was not even 30 and was close to being burnt the f*ck out! I felt like it was too late to build something, too late to “get a break”, too late to make a go of things & I spent a lot of time deeply regretting the lack of focus I had in my twenties. Really it was a lack of confidence, a lack of belief in my own ability."
It's this kind of honesty that draws her followers to look up to her as a type of down-to-earth mentor. She describes her life in London fondly, but stays true to her Irish roots.
"I do a lot of work with the London Irish Centre, which has Kerrygold and Tayto Irish crisps and McCambridge bread and Cadbury’s chocolate which is better here. Most things you can get online, but it’s more the familiarity, the feeling of always bumping into someone you know in Dublin. That small-town-feel that Dublin has is really quite unique. Not just if you’re Irish, that’s how it feels if you come here. One of my girlfriends came over to Dublin for a five-day break and spent the last three days looking for a job here so she could stay.”
Join us to celebrate powerful Irish women for St Brigid's Day this Feb 2nd – hosted by the incredible @angelascanlon
The woman is loyal to the Emerald Isle by the sounds of things. What drove Angela to make the big move?
“There’s loads of work here (in Dublin) but it’s individual to everybody. I chose to move abroad because I was kind of doing Ireland and the UK at the same time, it was never a deliberate move. Different people move for different reasons. I certainly think the pace is very different, but I do miss the familiarity of having your mum or dad up the road. You take for granted that we’re a new generation who have moved to England who have a lot more opportunities than our parents would have had. You kind of forget that there is a massive amount of vulnerability over there. There’s homelessness and addiction problems that many Irish people struggle with over here, but London is a big city and can be very isolating”
How does she follow her rules of self-care now that she's a big name? She claims that bath-time is where she finds her chill;
“It’s kind of about being really disciplined with yourself about giving yourself a little bit of time. t can be a bit of a luxury, but being in that for, whatever, 20 minutes, and using a face mask. That ritual of putting something on and for ten minutes just hitting pause, I think that’s really important. I’ve started running again, which I haven’t done for a long time. Everyone has to start somewhere."
Be it the start, middle or end, Angela's got it covered. Please be our life coach?

Today, the nurses and midwives of Ireland have taken to the picket lines to fight for pay parity with other healthcare professionals.
37,000 members of the INMO stood proudly outside hospitals and HSE facilities from 8 am to show the Government that they’ve been mistreated for far too long.
As I drove past St. James’s Hospital on my bus this morning I was overcome with a sense of both pride and emotion when I spotted the crowds of nurses at the picket line.
The Government may fail to see their value, but any person who has had a loved one or has been in the hospital themselves knows, the nurses are the true heroes.
They may not be the ones who perform life-saving operations, but they are the ones who offer love, care and humanity in a place that can be so unbearably isolating and intimidating.
They reassured my family with kind smiles when my Mam was admitted to the intensive care unit.
They popped into the family room at the end of their shifts to make sure we had something to eat and drink between hours and hours of anxious waiting.
They not only treated my Mam like a patient but most importantly a person. They joked with her about the doctors who had poor bedside manner, they comforted her on nerve-wracking trips to CT scans and never once let her feel lonely when she spent weeks away from her own bed, her home and her family.
They always ensured to be chirpy and optimistic when chatting to us about Mam and her treatments, ailments and fears.
— Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation (@INMO_IRL) January 30, 2019
They were the ones who rushed to her aid in the middle of the night. The ones who made her laugh when she was upset about having to stay another day and another and another.
They were the ones who reassured me and my sisters that this was only temporary and that one day Mam would be back home, listening to Sunshine 106.8 and complaining about the heating being turned off.
They gave us hope during the darkest times.
They offered support during the harrowing moments.
They were the heroes we desperately neede on the terrifying days.
And that is why I stand with the nurses and midwives of Ireland because they have always stood by both their patients and their family’s sides no matter how over-worked, emotionally drained and exhausted they were.
