The BBC has finally confirmed when The Graham Norton Show will be returning to our screens, and it's sooner than you might think.

We've been lost without our weekly dose of the Cork native's dry wit and white wine, as well as his illustrious guests and endless red chair banter.

The BAFTA and TV Choice Award-winning chat show will be back for a new series (number 26) on Friday, September 27 on BBC One at 10:35pm.

Joining Graham on the red couch will be Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren, who will promote her new TV drama Catherine the Great; comedian and actor Jack Whitehall; documentary maker Simon Reeve; and the legendary RuPaul.

The iconic drag queen will be bringing his hit show RuPaul's Drag Race UK to the BBC on October 3, which should prove an instant hit judging by how incredibly successful the US version has been.

The music of the evening will be provided by former Fifth Harmony bandmember NORMANI, who will perform her new single Motivation.

The Graham Norton Show has been on air for over 10 years, if you can believe how fast that time went.

Some of the most hilarious and memorable TV moments and interviews in chat show history have taken place on the host's fluffy red couch.

Irish comedian and Eurovision presenter Graham has been on his summer holidays, and deserves the break, but the show will run from September until February this year and then from April until June.

While we wait for September 27, let's enjoy some of last season's funniest moments and put our feet up;

Kevin Hart has been forced to defend himself yet again after he sent prayers to Jussie Smollet, the Empire actor who experienced a recent horrific racist and homophobic attack.

The 35-year-old singer and actor was hospitalised after a savage attack in which a noose was put around his neck and bleach was poured on him, with the assailants shouting 'This is MAGA country' in a racially-motivated attack.

The homophobic and racist hate crime sparked anger all over America, with celebrities tweeting their support for the actor. Kevin Hart sent the actor prayers through his social media accounts, with the 39-year-old tweeting;

"Sending prayers your way Jussie Smollett ….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world?"

"Why are we falling in love with hate? God damn it people….Choose love…I repeat…Choose love. I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Stand strong brother," he concluded.

The tweet sparked yet more backlash online, following the controversy which lead to him stepping down from hosting the 2019 Oscars. A series of homophobic tweets were uncovered from the past, featuring jokes about beating up a gay son.

One social media user responded: "Do you see why the “jokes” weren’t funny now?”, while another replied with one of Kevin’s polarising past tweets reading:

‘”Yo if my son comes home and tries to play with my daughters doll house I’m going to break it over his head and say 'stop that’s gay.'”

Podcaster and writer Ira Madison quote-tweeted Kevin’s tweet about Jussie and wrote: "Your funniest joke congrats." This was the final straw for Hart, who responded with a tweet of his own.

"I stand with a man in his time of hurt and need by giving him heart felt support and u take the time to harp on my ten year past that I have apologised about and moved on from by being a better person. Do you want change? If so I am an example of what u want people to do…CHANGE!" he wrote.

Ira replied, saying;

"I 'harp' because my community of black queer people face violence 365 days in America and when we tried to tell you that we weren’t trolling you but wanted to educate how your jokes lead to actions like what happened to Jussie, you went on Ellen to talk about your wheelchair movie."

Fans of Kevin Hart chose to defend him, saying that he has shown remorse for his past actions and praising him for his support of Jussie.

Hart refused to host the Oscars after the controversy, and Ellen DeGeneres gave him a platform to speak about his past homophobic actions.

The Chicago Police Department have just released CCTV images of two persons of interest in the Smollett case. Nine days ago, he was sent a letter in the post to Fox Studios which read: ‘You will die black f*ggot".

He has received negative attention from racist and homophobic people in America as a result of his role in Empire, where he portrays a rising gay, black singer in the music industry.

Ellen DeGeneres has generated controversy by throwing her support behind comedian Kevin Hart, who was forced to step down as the host of the 2019 Academy Awards following accusations of homophobia.

Hart appeared on The Ellen Show for a full hour to promote his new film, The Upside, and to defend his decision to step down as the Oscars host following the re-surfacing of years-old tweets and quotes.

Ellen interviewed the comedian and according to Variety, said the producers of the Academy Awards "admitted to possibly mishandling Hart's departure” and would be “emphatic” to see him return.

The popular chat show host, and former host of the awards ceremony herself declared; “We want him to host. Whatever we can do, we want him to host.”

He spoke about the issue uninterrupted for nearly six minutes, a rarity on US television, and told Ellen that the Oscars was; "…one of the highest of highs, simply because there hasn't been a lot of African Americans that have been able to do it."

Saying it was "unreal" to be asked to host the coveted awards ceremony on ABC this February, he described the onslaught of social media backlash which followed his appointment and later led to his stepping down;

"To get the moment, celebrate the moment—'Oh, my God! I can't believe it's happen!'—and then the next morning after a day full of congratulations and celebrations, I'm hit with an onslaught on social media of my past coming back up again."

"Literally, the next morning! Not even a full 24 hours to glow in the glory of 'Kevin Hart Is Hosting This Year's Oscars,'" the comic described.

"When it happened, my first thought is, 'I'm going to ignore it. I'm going to ignore it because it's 10 years old. This is stuff I've addressed. I've talked about this. This isn't new. I've addressed it! I've apologised for it. I'm not going to pay it any mind.'"

His controversial tweets were between 2009 and 2011, and the now deleted post reads; “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay’.”

The interview is broadcasting on today's episode of Ellen, with the host saying she believes in "second chances", and believes he deserves to host.

“It’s all they ever wanted him to do, and he’s doing it in spades. So now he should be able to come back on his own terms."

She has incredible influence in the public eye and within the awards circuit herself, so who knows what could happen?

Pete Davidson has performed his first stand-up comedy show since his troubling social media posts depicting suicidal thoughts.

He opened up about his relationship with pop singer Ariana Grande, his former fiancé. Since their much-publicised split, Pete has been relatively quiet about the singer, aside from his worrying Instagram posts.

The Saturday Night Live star performed a set in Boston on New Year's Eve, and you can bet the Thank, U Next star came up in conversation.

He first made a quip regarding their break-up a few weeks ago, Ari clapped back with; "For somebody who claims to hate relevancy you sure love clinging to it, huh. Thank u. next."

The topic of break-up songs was brought up by Davidson during his show, with the comedian commenting that;

"Here's the thing about the breakup song. Usually breakup songs you know who it's about but you don't really know. That G named all of us," he spoke to the crowd, blatantly referring to the number one song Thank U, Next.

"Bam. She named all of us. And then, tells us, yeah, he has a big dick." He continued.

"So I start playing it. And we're all like, "Ehhh… it's ok." We're like "Okay, it's not that bad for you."

"It made me see how ugly people can get, and how cool people can be," he reportedly said, according to Us Weekly.

The publication claims that Pete carried on with his Ariana conversation, saying that most artists don't actually name their exes in their songs.

He joked;

"Not this wonderful lady. This diabolical genius named all of us." He also said that the smash hit song premiered right before SNL, at which point he told his cast-mates and friends:

"We all have to listen to this song and you all have to look at me, it’s gonna be rough."

Yikes. He later described crying with his mother on the kitchen table after hearing the song.

Well, break-ups rarely end without at least one party feeling heartbroken.

At least Pete admitted that the song is catchy, he's trying to see the brighter side of 2019 by the sound of things…

Kevin Hart has officially confirmed that he will be hosting the esteemed Oscars awards next year, saying that it's time "to rise to the occasion."

The 91st Academy Awards will take place on February 24, with nominations are set for January 22, and the internet has been rife with guesses over who the next host would be.

The Academy and Hart both confirmed on social media that it was time for the comedian to take up the mantle, after he previously said that he would get the gig in due time; "it will happen when it’s supposed to.”

Looks like that time is now, Kevin.

Writing on his Instagram, the comedy veteran wrote;

“For years I have been asked if I would ever host the Oscars and my answer was always the same…I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian…"

He continued; “I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars.”

The Academy were quick to confirm it through their Twitter;

Hart described exactly how much the experience means to him, despite The Hollywood Reporter describing it as the least wanted gig in town;

"I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time … To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced this stage is unbelievable," Hart wrote.

"I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now."

Veteran producer Donna Gigliotti and Hollywood director Glenn Weiss have also been named as co-producers for this year's ceremony on ABC.

Academy president John Bailey and CEO Dawn Hudson along with the new producing team have pledged to shorten the show in the face of dropping ratings.

Hart, as one of the Hollywood’s top comedians and comedic actors, could be important for broadening their reach; especially after the race controversy which has taken hold over the coveted award ceremony.

The Oscars have been hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the last two years, and produced by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd.

One thing is certain, Hart will be putting everything he has to give the audience the best time possible; "I will be sure to make sure this years Oscars are a special one."

Aoife Dooley is a force to be reckoned with.

Comedian, author, illustrator, creator of YourOneNikita, the list is endless as to what she has achieved.

Not to mention the fact that she has had to manage being diagnosed with autism earlier this year and has to put up with online trolls on a pretty much daily basis.

But none of it seems to faze her as we found out when we got to have a chat with her.

The 27-year-old is busy getting ready to launch an animated series of YourOneNikita on RTE as well as helping out Dublin Bus announce the winners of their Children's Art Competition today, but she gave us the goss on what she's been up to and how nervous she is for the RTE series debut next week…

Last day recording for the Your One Nikita tv series

A post shared by Aoife Dooley (@aoife_dooley) on

Her career

There might be many string to her bow, but it all began with illustrating.

She says, ''I always loved drawing even as far back as primary school. I didn't realise it at the time but I just wanted to do something that I enjoyed. Illustrating was really therapeutic for me.''

Aoife mentioned in an interview a while back that when she was floundering a few years ago, all she was sure of was that she ''wanted to be the best''.

And that struck a chord with me because isn't it so relatable to so many of us?

She advises, ''The most important thing is finding something that you're interested in and that brings you joy because then you'll always excel in it. Loads of practice too. I'm not by any means an amazing drawer, but it works for me and I love what I do. If you want to do well, you'll put the time in and make contacts.''

Social media

Speaking of pressure, social media is obviously not only a big part of everyone's life nowadays bit also a big part of Aoife's work – although she has had her fair share of the sh*ttier side of it.

She says, ''I just block people now. If I get mean messages in, I just block them from seeing my story. There was someone there the other day who kept messaging me and commenting on my stuff clearly fake profile so I just blocked them, I could not be arsed. Why would I leave that person on my page?''

She continues, ''The other thing [Bloggers Unveiled] was a bit different because that was going on over long periods of time and you;d get emails so if that happens again I'm aware of it and so are other people so that they can report it.''

Autism

Aoife was diagnosed in April at the age of 26 with autism and finding out has freed her and made life so much easier, although people don't really seem to know much about it.

She says, ''The spectrum is huge, people on it are just as individual as people who aren't autistic. Finding out was mad because I hadn't got a clue about it. I had a very stereotypical view about it and that's down to how it's portrayed in the media. It's always a man or a boy and they always seem to be at the severe end of the spectrum.''

Encouraged by a friend to go and get tested, her confidence has grown as a result.

''I'm a lot more at ease with myself because I know my limits now. I've been watching I'm A Celebrity with Anne Hegerty and she's brilliant, she's articulating it really well. I get really overwhelmed. If I'm really happy I start crying – it's like I don't have great control over my emotions but at least now I know what it is.''

She articulates it perfectly when she says, ''It's liberating know who you are when you haven't for the best part of your life when you thought you did.''

YourOneNikita

Aoife's web series, based on life living on the north side of Dublin and a Dublin girlo we're all familiar with, has achieved huge success.

It has spawned two hilarious books, How To Be Massive and How To Deal With Poxes and now, an animated RTE series is on the way.

The animations were finished in October and it's set to hit our screen on the week of November 26, but she's definitely a bit nervous. ''I hope people watch it and like it. Fingers crossed.''

Dublin Bus Children's Art Competition

Aoife is also involved with Dublin Bus Children's Art Competition, which takes place across 4th and 5th and 6th classes every year and encourages children to respect their bus driver, ''a great initiative'' as she says.

She has worked with Dublin Bus before, doing some animation for their school videos. So why did she decided to get involved with this competition?

''It's a really great idea – going through the entries I realised that a lot of kids had so much respect for their drivers, some even knew their names and I thought that it was lovely that they had that interaction with their bus drivers. ''

Forty-one entries will appear in the children's Dublin Bus art calender for 2019 and 11 images will appear on a Dublin Bus itself.

She continues, ''I wanted to get involved because I used to love entering those competitions when I was younger. So I said I was definitely going to be part of that.''

She's set to announce the winners for their annual competition today and we can reveal that it is Susan O'Reilly, a 4th class student from Canice's Girls School in Finglas. Well done!

Best of luck with everything Aoife – we seriously cannot WAIT to see YourOneNikita on RTE net week – we know it's gonna be massive.

Niall Horan is one of the most famous singers in the world, but he's certainly not going to let anyone take advantage of him and his lads.

Comedian Daniel Walton was trying to promote his own tour and decided to claim he had inside info on One Direction after attending a recording of A League of Their Own, which Niall was speaking at.

Of course, fans of 1D flooded to his Twitter page to try and scoop the gossip, but Niall Horan swooped in and shut the funny man down in a simple but fantastic way.

Niall simply tweeted him, "who are you?" which made fans believe Daniel had zilch on 1D and was just trying to create a stir online .

A mild shut down, yet effective.

Amy Schumer has been accused of stealing jokes made by other female comedians.

The Trainwreck star was blasted on Twitter by Wendy Liebman, Kathleen Madigan and Tammy Pescatelli, who said she robbed them of their lines and used them in her popular TV shows and movie.

The tweets have since been deleted, but not before Refinery 29 caught sight of them.

The women didn't hold back in their tweets, saying, "What has always been amazing to me is that she purports to be a feminist and yet only steals from other female comedians."

Tammy also said that Amy was the opening act for one of her shows, and this is where she got a few of her jokes from.

But, after seeing what a stir the tweets were causing online, Tammy and the other girls deleted their previous tweets and Wendy said, "I never said Amy Schumer stole my joke. I just said it was the same. It's possible we both wrote it. I just wanted you to know I wrote it first."

Ouch ladies, there's some serious beef there.

Josh Ostrovosky is the man behind The Fat Jewish, an Instagram account that is known for its hilariously clever memes and jokes.

With 5.7m followers, The Fat Jewish is one of the most popular comedy accounts out there, with posts regrammed by everyone from Cara Delevingne to Kim Kardashian.

However, the account we all know and love so much has been coming under some serious fire lately with many people claiming that The Fat Jew robbed their jokes.

The Instagram personality recently released his own wine titled 'White Girl Rosé' and also signed a deal with Comedy Central for his own television show.

Once people heard about the comedy deal, they began emerging from the woodwork to claim his jokes as their own, saying he had been plagiarising on a daily basis.T

Now, Josh has apologised for not mentioning the sites where he first got the jokes, saying he will give full credit to everyone he gets material from.

"I should have been providing attribution for all posts. It's always been important to me. The Internet is a vast ocean of stuff, and sometimes it's hard to find the original source of something," he wrote.

"I now realise that if I couldn't find a source for something, I probably shouldn't have posted it in the first place."

They would have been an even weirder couple than they are now! (@defamerican)

Unfortunately his apology came too late for Comedy Central, who have already binned his TV deal.

If you're looking for more hilarity, The Fat Jew also manages an account for his adorable dog Toast. @Toastmeetsworld follows the life of this cute King Charles dog who has a tongue that's a teeny bit long for his mouth.
