Creator of Desperate Housewives has written a letter in defence of Felicity Huffman amid her college admissions scandal case, according to Us Weekly.

Marc Cherry is one of 27 people who have written letters backing up the actress, detailing how one Desperate Housewives star had 'big behavioural problems' and caused tension on-set among the cast.

Cherry’s letter detailed how one actress was obnoxious and rude to cast members but 56-year-old Huffman refused to stoop down to her level.

The hit show also starred Eva Longoria, Terri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan, and ran from 2004 until 2012.

The showrunner wrote about the unnamed actress:

57-year-old Cherry praised the way Huffman handled the actress’ troublesome attitude as a testament to her character.

"Things went from bad to worse. Felicity still insisted on saying “Good morning” to this actress, even though she knew she wouldn’t get a response," he claimed.

"I found out about this and asked Felicity about it. She smiled and said, “Just because that woman’s determined to be rude, doesn’t mean she can keep me from being polite”."

"There was a time I was being bullied at work by a co-worker. I dreaded the days I had to work with that person because it was pure torture. Until one day, Felicity told the bully, “enough” and it all stopped."

She added: "Felicity could feel that I was riddled with anxiety even though I never complained or mentioned the abuse to anyone. ‘I know I would not have survived those 10 years if it wasn’t for the friendship of Felicity."

Huffman pleaded guilty in May to paying $15,000 for someone else to sit her daughter’s university entrance exams, and is now awaiting sentencing.

Felicity Huffman has pleaded guilty to charges of mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in the nationwide US college admissions cheating scheme.

The American actress, known for her role in Desperate Housewives, allegedly paid $15,000 (€13,300) to rig her daughter's SAT score in order to get her into a better college.

The 56-year-old is among 14 parents who have agreed to plead guilty to the accused charges in the widely-publicised case, involving Lori Loughlin among others.

Authorities are referring to it as the biggest college admissions cheating scandal ever prosecuted in the USA. Hollywood stars and business executives have been involved in the proceedings, as well as coaches at Georgetown and Yale.

Huffman apparently paid a consultant, Rick Singer,  $15,000 to have a proctor correct her daughter's SAT answers and also considered carrying out the same plan for her younger son.

Parents are accused of using the admissions consultant to pay off entrance exam administrators to allow a proctor to sit tests for students or correct their mistaken answers.

Huffman has apologised for her crime and claims her daughter was unaware. "I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions," she said.

Prosecutors have stated that they will seek between four and 10 months in prison for Huffman. As she agreed to plead guilty, the recommended sentence will be at the low end of the range, and she may not actually end up in prison.

It has been pointed out that parents on the lower economic scale and especially parents-of-colour in the US have faced far longer prison times for lesser crimes.

Colombian pop star Shakira has been summoned to appear in a Barcelona court following allegations that she illegally avoided €14.5 million in taxes.

Spanish media reports claim the singer and philanthropist has been accused of tax evasion since December of last year.

In Spain, only trials are public, therefore her hearing will take place privately behind closed doors.

Spanish state prosecutors accused the mother-of-two of fraud last year, claiming she had pretended to live abroad and use an existing complex offshore corporate structure to prevent herself meeting tax obligations between 2012 and 2014.

Shakira was previously a tax resident in the Bahamas but only registered in 2015 as a full tax resident. Those who spend over 183 days in a given calendar year in the country are obliged to pay tax as Spanish residents.

Tax inspectors have been following Shakira's finances for years, and she appeared in an investigation carried out by the Guardian in 2017 on offshore corporate finance. The Paradise Papers was carried out by other news organisations alongside the Guardian.

Despite paying the €14.5 million debt settlement, she hasn't been able to stop the case from going to court. Her lawyer insisted she had always fulfilled her tax obligations in accordance with the advice of her financial advisors in every country.

Infamous R&B star R Kelly has left the Chicago jail where he was being held after posting his $100,000 bail, according to a Cook County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The singer has been plagued by allegations of sexual assault, rape, child abuse, child pornography and aggravated criminal sexual abuse for decades.

Yesterday, the 52-year-old pleaded not guilty to 10 charges against four women, three of whom were minors at the time of alleged assault. He did not speak to media as he was escorted from jail by his lawyer.

He has faced claims of sexual abuse for a long time, even appearing on trial in 2008 for child pornography charges but was acquitted. 

Cook County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari confirmed on Monday night that R Kelly had raised the $100,000 bail, which was 10 percent of the $1 million bond set by a judge.

It is suspected that he struggled to raise the $100,000 necessary, and that a female "friend" had to assist him.

His court appearance and plea has arrived only weeks after Surviving R Kelly aired on Lifetime; an explosive documentary series about the allegations of continuous assault from dozens of women, including his former wife.

He is currently being tried for sexual assaults which apparently happened from 1998 onwards. He met one of the four women on her 16th birthday at a restaurant, and another 16-year-old when she asked for his autograph.

Robert Sylvester Kelly was ordered by the court to hand in his passport, and to have zero contact with anyone under the age of 18. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 22.

The well known high-profile women's rights attorney Gloria Allred claimed in a news conference yesterday that she is now representing over six women who allege that the singer abused them.

The former partner of deceased rapper XXXTenacion has given birth to his son, just seven months after his murder.

Jenesis Sanchez and the artist's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, have issued a joint statement saying that they are "thrilled" at the newborn's arrival.

Only days after the death of XXXTenacion, real name Jahseh Onfroy, the pregnancy was revealed in June of last year. The 20-year-old was shot and killed in Florida in his car.

According to the statement, the name Gekyume was “specifically” chosen by the late musician ”for his first born son”.

A posthumous XXXTentacion record was released last year entitled Skins, and featured prominent artists such as Kanye West.

The controversial rapper was facing a shocking 15 felony charges when he died, and was accused of multiple counts of domestic abuse, including an incident of physically assaulting a pregnant woman.

The rapper had been charged with the aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and witness tampering, and was due in court the week after his death.

Kevin Spacey has claimed that the 18-year-old man which accused him of groping told Spacey he was older and welcomed flirting.

The notorious Hollywood actor pleaded NOT guilty to sexually assaulting the young man in 2016.

The incident happened in Nantucket, and Spacey has been ordered to have zero contact with his accuser following the sexual assault charges.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the former House of Cards actor claims the teenager; "said he was a 23-year-old student studying business at Wake Forest University."

In court yesterday, (Spacey also was caught speeding before appearing) the motion claims the teen "welcomed drinks" from the famous actor and allowed him to; "put his arm around around him near the piano while they did sing-a-longs and even left the bar to smoke."

It's alleged that the young man gave his phone number to Spacey, which the motion states suggested "mutual and consensual flirting".

Spacey doesn't actually deny groping the teen, but it does state that the teenager "did not object to the alleged touching, he did not ask Spacey to stop and he did not remove himself from the situation".

The young woman who was in contact with the accuser was never told about the alleged assault, it is purported.

CNN reported yesterday that Spacey gave a nod of acknowledgement following the judge's order for him to refrain from contacting his accuser.

A spokeman lawyer said: "The commonwealth is requesting that Mr Spacey be ordered to stay away and no contact with the named victim and his family."

Judge Thomas Barrett said; "Certainly the court will impose those conditions."

The 59-year-old actor was seen arriving at court surrounded by paparazzi, less than a five-minute walk from the place where the alleged assault took place; Club Car lounge.

Spacey was silent on the claim and refused to comment as he left the courtroom and headed to his car. The next hearing date is March 4, but the actor is not obliged to attend.

It has now emerged that Tay Tay uses special software to detect stalkers at her ground-breaking shows, and that fans who were mesmerised by her May 18 Rose Bowl rehearsal clips were unaware of this detail.

The Rose Bowl is an annual college football event, and used hidden cameras to capture images of guests in order to transfer them to a command post based in Nashville.

These snaps were later cross-referenced with a database of the musician's well-known stalkers, of which there are HUNDREDS.

A man who had broken into Swift's New York townhouse and stopped by for an actual NAP made a plea deal last week and as a result, he will only serve a mere six months in prison.

The stalker, full name Roger Alvarado, gained entry when he  “allegedly climbed up a ladder and smashed a window with his hand”

While Taylor needs to make sure she is safe at all times, whether in concert or in her home, there are clear privacy concerns of the photographs.

Issues of ownership and the length of time for which they can be kept on file are the obvious queries…we wonder if Taylor ever has a sneaky peak at them? 

More and more arenas and stadiums are turning to facial-recognition technology; this year, Ticketmaster invested in a start-up named Blink Identity.

This company claims that its sensors can identify anyone walking past its cameras at full speed in just half a second… whoa.

The veteran ticketing corporation intends to use the technology to help fans pass through the turnstiles faster and in a more practical way.

Ticketmaster’s chief product officer Justin Burleigh commented that: "It holds a lot of promise. We’re just being very careful about where and how we implement it."

We want our snake-obsessed icon to be safe, but does anyone else think it's a tad 1984?

Lana Del Rey has found herself in middle of a messy lawsuit after Radiohead claimed the singer copied parts of their biggest selling hit, Creep.

Thom Yorke and his bandmates believe Lana's track Get Free, which features on her album Lust for Life, was heavily influenced by the 1993 single.

It's been reported that both parties are trying to settle the dispute outside of court.

“Both teams are trying to thrash it out behind the scenes to prevent it from going to court," a source told The Sun Online. 

“It’s understood that Radiohead’s team are hoping for the band to either receive compensation or be credited on the list of songwriters to receive royalties.”

However, with an agreement still not reached, it now looks likely that the artists will let the justice system run its course.

Addressing the dispute in a tweet posted over the weekend, Lana claimed that Radiohead's legal team would only accept a deal for 100 per cent of the song's royalties.

This isn't the first time the band have found themselves at the centre of a lawsuit over the song.

Radiohead were actually sued by The Hollies over Creep's resemblance to their song, The Air That I Breathe.

The Hollies own the legal battle and Radiohead were ordered to hand over a percentage of royalties and credit the writers.

Following an eight-hour manhunt across west Dublin on Monday, Joseph Rafferty was eventually apprehended and arrested by Gardaí at CityWest Shopping Centre on Monday afternoon.

According to 98FM, the 37-year-old, with an address in Russell Place, Russell Square in Tallaght, has appeared before Tallaght District Court this morning.

Rafferty, who was charged with six offences including car-jacking, aggravated burglary and possession of a firearm, made no reply when the charges were put to him yesterday.

It has been established that Raffety's council made no application for bail, and requested his client receive appropriate psychiatric treatment while in custody of the State.

Rafferty will appear before Cloverhill District Court next week.

Reality TV star, Jeremy McConnell will appear in court today charged with assaulting his on-off girlfriend and mother of his child, Stephanie Davis.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant will stand trail at Liverpool Magistrates' Court and this will be the first time the infamous couple have been face-to-face since June this year.

The alleged incident took place at a property in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10.

At a previous court appearance on May 10, Jeremy, 27, pleaded guilty to charges of criminal damage but denied assault by beating.

Originally from Swords, Co Dublin, the Irish model first met the Hollyoaks actress when they both appeared as contestants on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.

Since then, the couple have made headlines for their rocky on-again off-again relationship.

They also welcomed a baby boy, Caben-Albi, in January 2017.

Maha Al-Adheem, the 42-year-old accused of murdering her three-year-old son, was reportedly too unwell to attend court today.

The GP's condition was confirmed by Det Sergeant Brendan O’Halloran who told the court: "She is not going to be produced today, she is sick, judge.”

Maha Al-Adheem, who appeared in court last week, was due to face her second hearing at Dublin District Court.

In Al-Adheem's absence, Judge Walsh adjourned the case and told the court that the accused needs to attend the next scheduled court date.

In her first court appearance in the wake of her son's death, the GP said: "Yes, it was my knife. Yes, it was my hand. It was not me. It was the power."

Omar Omran was murdered in what is believed to have been a frenzied attack in an apartment in the Riverside complex in Poddle Park, Kimmage on July 10.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

We're all partial to a cheeky McDonald's every now and again, but this woman's meal ended up costing her nearly €460 (£400), and a day in court (which took eight months to organise).

Katie Ritchie was going about her business when she decided to get a take-away medium meal from her local Maccy D's.

But, when she was leaving the restaurant, the 31-year-old dumped her paper take-away bag in the alleyway.

According to the Gazette Live, Katie, from Yorkshire in the UK, dumped the bag near her home, and she was only caught because she accidently threw out a piece of paper with her address on it as well.

It was discovered in the alleyway on May 17, 2016, but it took eight months for a court date to be assigned to her.

Katie ended up being a no-show at her hearing at the start of this month, but she was still convicted and fined £220 (€254) for dropping the bag. And on top of that, she had to pay a further £175 (€202) to her council for the trouble caused.

Note: never drop your McDonald's bag. Ever.
