Creator of Desperate Housewives has written a letter in defence of Felicity Huffman amid her college admissions scandal case, according to Us Weekly.

Marc Cherry is one of 27 people who have written letters backing up the actress, detailing how one Desperate Housewives star had 'big behavioural problems' and caused tension on-set among the cast.

We're not entirely sure how pointing out another actress's behavioural issues excuses Huffman's illegal scheme to doctor her daughter's university entrance exams, but whatever…

Cherry’s letter detailed how one actress was obnoxious and rude to cast members but 56-year-old Huffman refused to stoop down to her level.

The hit show also starred Eva Longoria, Terri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan, and ran from 2004 until 2012.

The showrunner wrote about the unnamed actress:

"She was a big star with some big behavioral problems. Everyone tried their hardest to get along with this woman over the course of the show. It was impossible."

57-year-old Cherry praised the way Huffman handled the actress’ troublesome attitude as a testament to her character.

"Things went from bad to worse. Felicity still insisted on saying “Good morning” to this actress, even though she knew she wouldn’t get a response," he claimed.

"I found out about this and asked Felicity about it. She smiled and said, “Just because that woman’s determined to be rude, doesn’t mean she can keep me from being polite”."

Cherry's statement comes after Eva Longoria wrote a letter on Huffman’s behalf claiming she was ‘bullied’ and ‘tortured’ by a colleague on set. (It's rumoured to be Teri Hatcher).

 The John Wick actress wrote:

"There was a time I was being bullied at work by a co-worker. I dreaded the days I had to work with that person because it was pure torture. Until one day, Felicity told the bully, “enough” and it all stopped."

She added: "Felicity could feel that I was riddled with anxiety even though I never complained or mentioned the abuse to anyone. ‘I know I would not have survived those 10 years if it wasn’t for the friendship of Felicity."

Huffman pleaded guilty in May to paying $15,000 for someone else to sit her daughter’s university entrance exams, and is now awaiting sentencing.

Felicity Huffman has pleaded guilty to charges of mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in the nationwide US college admissions cheating scheme.

The American actress, known for her role in Desperate Housewives, allegedly paid $15,000 (€13,300) to rig her daughter's SAT score in order to get her into a better college.

The star entered her plea in a Boston federal court two months after her arrest in the Operation Varsity Blues case, where wealthy parents have been caught paying bribes to aid their children's acceptance into elite colleges.

The 56-year-old is among 14 parents who have agreed to plead guilty to the accused charges in the widely-publicised case, involving Lori Loughlin among others.

Authorities are referring to it as the biggest college admissions cheating scandal ever prosecuted in the USA. Hollywood stars and business executives have been involved in the proceedings, as well as coaches at Georgetown and Yale.

Huffman apparently paid a consultant, Rick Singer,  $15,000 to have a proctor correct her daughter's SAT answers and also considered carrying out the same plan for her younger son.

The actress was tearful in court as she faced consequences of her actions.

Parents are accused of using the admissions consultant to pay off entrance exam administrators to allow a proctor to sit tests for students or correct their mistaken answers.

Huffman has apologised for her crime and claims her daughter was unaware. "I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions," she said.

Prosecutors have stated that they will seek between four and 10 months in prison for Huffman. As she agreed to plead guilty, the recommended sentence will be at the low end of the range, and she may not actually end up in prison.

It has been pointed out that parents on the lower economic scale and especially parents-of-colour in the US have faced far longer prison times for lesser crimes.

Lori Loughlin, star of Full House and the 90210 reboot, is also involved in the cheating scam alongside her husband Mossimo Giannulli.

Mossimo's bond was set at $1 million, secured against the couple’s home.

Felicity and Mossimo are set to appear in court on March 29 and both have surrendered their passports to the court.

Felicity has turned off her Instagram comments while Lori has deleted her social media accounts.

Now I have another life lesson I can teach my daughter and prove it…

“Ivy League graduates are not smarter than you, baby…just RICHER”

Mine EARNED her place in college and works hard to keep it. For that, she will ALWAYS be able to conquer life’s challenges.

There are 46 people charged in the largest university admissions scheme in U.S. history – others include CEOs, investors, and other elite professionals.

While Felicity was arrested, William was not charged although the prosecutor in court stated that he is a witness in the case.

Lori was not at her home and has not yet been arrested although she along with her husband, Felicity and William, faces a single count of mail fraud in connection with the scheme.

Lori and her husband are accused of paying $500,000 to get their two daughters into USC.

The scheme allegedly centered around William “Rick” Singer, a Newport Beach, Calif., admissions consultant, who pleads guilty in the case.

This situation is unprecedented and understandably people are angry as by buying kids places in elite universities, others who deserve it are losing out.

People took to social media and they were RAGING.

One said, ''Ashamed of you. How do you expect your kids to trust that what they've accomplished was due to their own efforts rather than you pulling strings to game them into an unbeatable advantage? I hope you do get charged, tried, convicted and sent to prison for this. #shameful.''

While another wrote, ''I have no clue how I’ll get my kids through college but hey I’m just a middle class vet. Wish I was rich so o could bribe people. You pricks make me sick. No need to worry I’m sure you’ll get probation or some shit.''

What the actual f*ck were they thinking?
