Oprah Winfrey takes everything that happens, even something tragic, as a learning experience.

Even when it comes to her own mothers passing.

She is a successful businesswoman who came from a poor rural American upbringing to build her own brand.

So she's definitely someone we would be happy to take advice from.

Her mother, Vernita Lee, died a month ago and Oprah is opening up about how she is dealing with it.

She told People, ''I said, ‘I don’t know if you’re going to make it. Do you think you’re going to make it?’ She said, ‘I don’t think I am.’ I had a conversation with her about what that felt like, what it felt like to be near the end.''

She continued, ''I started telling all the people who cared about her that, ‘She knows it’s the end, so, if you want to say goodbye, you should come and say goodbye.’”

Oprah says that saying your goodbyes is an extremely special moment.

She said, ''I said to her, ‘What a wonderful thing to be able to say goodbye,’ because she’s completely coherent and perfectly understanding everything.''

However, the 64-year-old did say that she struggled to find the right words to say to her mother – so she played music instead.

She continued, ''What I said was, ‘Thank you, because I know it’s been hard for you. It was hard for you as a young girl having a baby, in Mississippi. No education. No skills. Seventeen, you get pregnant with this baby. Lots of people would have told you to give that baby away. Lots of people would’ve told you to abort that baby. You didn't do that.''

She added, ''I want you to know that no matter what, I know that you always did the best you knew how to do. I would say to anybody – and if you live long enough, everybody goes through it say the things that you need to say while the people are still alive, so that you are not one of those people living with regret about what you would’ve, should’ve, could’ve said,” she explained.

Words of wisdom, thank you, Oprah.

Sunday’s season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians saw Kim open up candidly about her husband Kanye West, following the rapper's turbulent declaration that "slavery was a choice".

Despite admitting that she was "hysterically crying" when she heard her 41-year-old husband say the quote, she claims that he is of sound mind and is even "doing good".

The Kardashian star will always have his back, it seems.

A post shared by Kanye West (@kanyewestt_official) on

She spoke about the controversial hip-hop star's antics very openly;

“When he gets ramped up, he can’t control what he says — he can’t let it go,” she said. “He loves being ramped up."

He’s like, ‘I feel powerful when I’m ramped up. I don’t want to be so suppressed. Yeah, I say crazy s—, but I’ve always said crazy s—. That’s why I’m Kanye.'”

She insists, however, that his intentions are understandable to her as his wife;

“I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re going to write a headline and people are going assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant,” she continued.

“He didn’t say slavery is a choice, he was saying, ‘If you’re going to still be enslaved for another 400 years, then that’s some bulls—.’ That, as a wife, is really frustrating to see the media take everything and run with it.”

The timing was extremely unfortunate; Kris Jenner was set to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show, who commented on the whole debacle.

“I just want to make everything better,” said Jenner, 63. “You know me. I want everybody to get along, I want everybody to be happy, I want everybody to understand one another, communicate.”

“Even thought Kanye went on TMZ this morning and made some controversial comments, my loyalty really lies with Kanye,” Jenner continued.

“It’s really my job to be there to support Kanye and be somebody in his life that offers him love and support and not criticism.”

Once the scandal was settled, Kim flew out to Wyoming to support Kanye at his album launch party.

“I am so excited to be in Wyoming for Kanye’s listening party,” she said. “After TMZ, Kanye changed his whole album. I’m just excited so many people came out to support him. … I’m glad that now we can just have fun, listen to the music and have a good time.”

“I obviously support him and will always, but he likes to speak for himself and I like to speak for myself,” she added. “As his wife, I just have to express how I feel and have those private conversations with him and help him better communicate what he has to say.”

Kim had also been working with the White House to attempt to commute 63-year-old Alice Maria Johnson's life sentence for a first time non-violent drug offence.

“My first phone call was to Ivanka [Trump]. I just felt like as a woman she would really feel for this woman the way that I connected with Alice,” Kim said. “She did and she connected me with her husband Jared Kushner, so I actually have a meeting with the president of the United States next week to discuss Alice Johnson.”

According to Kim, it was a "tricky" situation, as she disagrees with Donald Trump's polarising views.

“I’ve been so straightforward with Jared. I have different views, I was at Hillary Clinton fundraisers. So this might not be a popular opinion, but I’ll talk to whoever I need to talk to to get the job done.”

“I know we have one shot to plead our case. Knowing that someone’s life is in your hand, it’s a really scary feeling,” she added. “We have to just do justice by Alice.”

She then flew to Tennessee to meet Johnson in person, after Trump shockingly commuted her sentence.

“It’s just such a satisfying moment. To know that she’s been behind bars for 22 years and she’s now home — it’s really amazing,” she said. “Just seeing Alice with her huge family, it’s like me and my big family. If I couldn’t be with them for two decades, that would break my soul.”

“That’s what so many people don’t get. This has nothing to do with politics. F— politics,” she added. “I don’t really know anything. This is: Get in front of the person — the only person in the world that can make this decision — and try to change their mind.”

“Every time I think that I’ve had a crazy year, I live the next year and it’s even crazier. … On this journey of getting Alice out, I have learned so much about criminal justice is and really how messed up our system is,” Kim said.

"There’s so much that has to be done … now that that is in me, I can’t stop at Alice. There has to be so much more than I can do.”

I'm sure we've all told our parents how embarrassing we think they are, how they mortify us beyond the valley of shame for merely existing.

Normally most of the things they do genuinely aren't embarrassing, we're just being dramatic.

In this case, however: one Twitter user explained a genuinely unfortunate mishap which happened when her mother was selling a wardrobe… and it's HILARIOUS.

Sophie Eke captioned the image: "Nice one mum", with texts from a buyer who reportedly could see her poor mums' boobs in the mirror of the item up for sale.

The buyer texted Julie saying: "Hi Julie, I don't mean to sound rude but just thought I'd let you know as I noticed straight away… the photo you uploaded of the wardrobes, I'm unsure if its what I think but it seems that there are some boobs in the mirror!"

"Sorry just wanted to let you know xxx"

Thank God, her daughter didn't upload the full X-rated image, but the tweet has since gone viral. It has been retweeted over 28k times and has over 100k likes, our mums would MURDER us for this.

We wonder what Julie thinks of the whole thing?

We hope she finds it funny, otherwise she might be pretty damn mad (understandably) with her daughter for putting the tweet up about her in the first place.

It just goes to show, be careful what you put on the internet gals, and maybe check your photos for any nudity BEFORE you upload them?

Christmas is just around the corner and I am VERY excited about it.

As the eldest sister I feel like there's more pressure on me to buy amazing gifts for my sisters. Finding the perfect gift can be a complete and utter nightmare, but I realised there are so many essential things to buy your sisters; basically everything they steal on you.

My sisters are forever 'borrowing' everything and anything on me, from jeans to deodorant and from my curler to perfume. And tbh I'm fed up with it.

So how do we solve this problem?

Buy them the thing they're ALWAYS robbing on you. This gift guide is here to help my fellow struggling sisters who have had enough of their siblings and the constant case of missing belongings.

The 31-year-old, who starred on the hit E4 show The Inbetweeners for two years as Jay Cartwright has opened up about whether his little ones will ever get to watch their dad ons screen in it.

And it looks like the answer is a firm 'no'.

We absolutely LOVED James as Jay, the teen lad prone to slight exaggerations about his experience with the opposite sex.

While James was hysterical in the role, it probably isn't one he's gonna want his kids to see.

Which is fair enough as the actor is now worlds away from the character, having been married to Scottish former model Claire Meek for six years.

The couple also have two children, seven-year-old Harrison and five-year-old Jude.

On why he won't allow his sons to watch the cult TV show that made him famous, he says that, ''It’s different for me as I’m supposed to be their dad. I don’t want them to see me behaving in that way.''

He continued, ''I already have very little respect from them to begin with and I don’t want to lose it completely.''

The Inbetweeners, which also starred Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas ran for three series from 2008 until 2010, focusing on four teenage boys as the tried to get through school and the minefield that is being 17.

Does he think it could still be as successful if it was on telly today?

James says that, ''Nowadays, it feels very black and white with comedy. There’s no in-between, it’s just, “This person said this on television – isn’t that terrible?” And it’s killing comedy, because you’re not allowed to joke about anything, it seems. There seems to be joke police nowadays.''

He added, ''It seems to be cool at the moment to be offended by stuff, and that’s a shame.''

We agree James – bring back the good aul days of The Inbetweeners.
