The Young Hot Guys want you to sign someone up for Movember
November is here, and that means one thing: the men in your life are about to start growing extremely questionable facial hair in the name of a genuinely great cause. Movember is back for 2026, and this year the campaign has a rallying call worth listening to — especially if there’s a man in your world you actually care about.
The Young Hot Guys — Shane Daniel Byrne, Tony Cantwell and Killian Sundermann — are back as Movember ambassadors, and they’re encouraging everyone to make a Growmitment. That’s a commitment to yourself and the people around you to do something positive for men’s health this month. Grow a moustache, get moving, host something with your mates, or just show up. It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Why it actually matters
The numbers behind Movember are hard to ignore. Research from the charity found that 83% of fundraisers felt more comfortable discussing their own health after taking part, compared with 63% beforehand. Seven in ten said they were more likely to seek professional help afterwards. Three in four said Movember helped them open up conversations about health with the men in their lives.
These aren’t small shifts. We all know how stubborn the men around us can be when it comes to their health — whether that’s a partner who hasn’t seen a GP since 2019 or a brother who deflects every serious conversation with a joke. Tony Cantwell put it brilliantly: “I find it unbelievably hard to be genuine with my lad friends. I did my Leaving Cert 20 years ago, but I still undercut every compliment I give them, every bit of gratitude, every attempt to express how much I actually love them, with a dumb (but guaranteed hilarious) joke.” Movember gives them a way in — without anyone having to say the serious bit out loud.

So, what do you actually do?
You could sign up yourself. Or you could nudge someone you love to register. A Growmitment can be as big or as small as you like — growing a mo, doing a fitness challenge, hosting a fundraiser, or simply getting your group chat organised around something that matters. Shane Daniel Byrne sums it up: “Making a Growmitment doesn’t have to be complicated — it’s all about getting involved, having a bit of craic and raising money for a cause that really matters. Every little effort makes a difference.”
Movember supports men’s health in the areas of mental health and suicide prevention, testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Since 2003, the charity has raised over €30 million in Ireland alone and funded more than 1,300 projects worldwide. That’s what a questionable November moustache is actually paying for.
Forward this to someone who needs it
Sarah Ouellette, Country Director of Movember in Ireland, says it’s not too late to get involved. “Every euro raised will go towards the hard work of our teams across the country working in mental health and suicide prevention, testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Research shows that engaging with fundraising has a positive impact on individuals and it’s often more fun with a friend.”
So text your partner, send it to your brother, drop it in the group chat. It takes about two minutes to register and it could genuinely open up conversations that matter. To sign up and make your Growmitment, visit movember.com/register.
