It seems that Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding could one day return to the Emerald Isle to play for Ireland.

David Nucifora, performance director and senior administrator with the IRFU told The Times that the pair could return to the national team.

When asked by The Times if it could ever happen, he said:

'I don’t think we can make a comment on that. But I don’t think anything is ever forever. Who knows what could happen?'

'For the immediate future, there’s no thought that they will be considered. They are playing overseas so at the moment if you’re playing overseas, you’re not considered.'

Jackson and Olding are currently signed with French teams.

'The players have found new contracts so that’s a positive for them, personally, and everyone just has to move on from that,' Nucifora said.

'It was a tough year for the players, for Ulster and for rugby in general. Hopefully, we don’t go through that ever again.'

Both players were involved in a high-profile rape trial earlier this year, and although they were found not guilty, the IRFU concluded at the time that their actions did not adhere to the game's core values: "Respect, inclusivity and integrity."

Half of Irish girls report money obstacles when needing sanitary products, a survey has indicated.

A further 61 percent of the young women involved in the poll said they experienced embarrassment surrounding their periods.

The survey was undertaken by Plan International Ireland a child rights, especially girl’s rights organisation.

They rolled out a survey on period stigma and affordability to 1,100 Irish girls from the ages of 12 to 19.

Out of those who were polled, 50 percent said they had experienced issues with affording the sanitary products.

Furthermore, 109 girls of those girls said they had to switch to a less suitable product because of the price.

The results revealed that almost two-thirds of the young women said the school lessons they received about their period were not helpful.

Caoimhe Dowling who took part in the survey, according to the Irish Examiner said:

"When I was younger, I felt the need to hide my period from both my family and my friends. I was made to feel shame for this biological fact of life. No person should feel shame for having a period."

“Now, being a student means a lot of saving and scrimping to get by with the little money I get from my job. I am reminded monthly of the large chunk of money that I am forced to spend on the necessities for my period.

I’m still not used to looking at the receipt after buying pads and seeing this huge sum that I need to fork over. Pads and tampons are necessities but are still seen as luxury,” she added.

It also came to light, that another 110 participates replied that they have never had classes in their school to do with their periods.

A large proportion of the girls polled carry shame and embarrassment about their periods.

Over 61 percent said they often feel embarrassment surrounding it and would not feel comfortable disclosing they are on their period to male counterparts in their families.

Education is being impacted by periods as 61 percent missed school due to it and a huge 88 percent feel their concentration is affected.

Meanwhile, misconceptions about periods are still prevalent from the survey,  84 participates said it wasn’t possible to get pregnant during their time of the month.

Another 79 girls thought they could lose their virginity to a tampon.

Plan International Ireland CEO, Paul O Brien said:

“From our research we know girls feel uncomfortable talking about their periods with family members and teachers. Through this survey we hope to start a conversation and end the taboos on menstruation.

"We want girls to know it is ok to talk about their period- especially if half of the girls Plan International Ireland spoke to nationwide cannot afford products for their periods."

Michael Jackson died on the 25th of June nine years ago. The star rose to fame in the 1970s. He was the first black superstar of the post civil-rights era and he was the first breakthrough black performer on MTV.

He was the best-selling American singer, songwriter and dancer. As a child, Jackson became the lead singer of his family's popular Motown group, the Jackson 5. He went on to a successful solo career, delivering Number one hits from the albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad.

He wasn’t just an American popstar, he was a global icon from a black family. He made culture accept a person of colour way before Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama did. Beyonce said that "The incomparable Michael Jackson has made a bigger impact on music than any other artist in the history of music. He was magic. He was what we all strive to be. He will always be the King of Pop!" '

Thriller was released in 1982. It was Jackson’s sixth solo album. It’s the best-selling album in history, with seven Top 10 hits. The album stayed on the charts for 80 weeks, holding the No. 1 spot for 37 weeks.

On the album, the child R&B star matured into a soulman: a singer, dancer and songwriter. He and his producer Quincy Jones created the something-for-everyone album with a firm fusion of dance beats and pop phrases.

The star who inspired artists such as Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Usher made history when he became the first artist to win eight Grammys in one night at the 26th Annual Grammy Awards on the 28th February 1984. He won these awards due to his work which was diverse and original. He won best album of the year. He also earned a Grammy due to his songwriting talents for best rhythm and blues song Billie Jean.

Thriller won best male pop vocal performance and Beat it won best male rock vocal performance. On a 1983 television special honoring Motown, Jackson performed his No. 1 hit Billie Jean and debuted his famous dance move, the Moonwalk.

He created this step himself and choreographed the dance sequences for the video of the album's other No. 1 hit, Beat It. Michael Jackson was a child prodigy, a musical genius and one of the most idolised artists worldwide.

From a gifted child with the Jackson Five to a global pop icon, he was always a source of fascination for his fans and the media.

Although he was the “King of Pop” Jackson was shy, quiet and a gentle spirit person off-stage. He wasn’t comfortable with the media attention he received and seldom gave interviews.

“I'm just like anyone. I cut and I bleed and I embarrass easily.” By the late 1980s, he had created his own fantasy escape called Neverland. This is where he had amusement park rides and exotic pets, such as a chimpanzee named Bubbles.

He also had a hideaway in Ireland located in Westmeath. He was relieved that he had found a place hidden away from the paparazzi which was rich in history, myth and folklore.

The singer pushed the boundaries of pop and R&B. He dominated the 1980s the way Elvis Presley towered the 1950s. He revolutionised the world of music. His dancing, singing, and the way he dressed was unique.

Although he was a naive and vulnerable person in everyday life, when he performed it was powerful, breathtaking and magnificent.

He once said, “Often people just don’t see what I see. They have too much doubt. You can’t be your best when you’re doubting yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?” Michael Jackson presented clarity.

His audience understood what he was about within seconds and then they were treated to an bombardment of over-delivery.

He blended difficulty with simplicity; from his dance moves and stage settings down to the memorable props like the glove and hat for the song Billie Jean. Hours of work went into crafting the perfect performance. He always left a lasting impression.

He put all his efforts and feelings and soul into his song and no matter what the media said about him, it never stopped him from achieving. He never lost sight of the bigger picture – the worldwide stage, including desires for world peace, harmony and unity.

He loved the planet and its people and wanted to make the world a better place. He had high standards, he always aimed to always better himself. Each album, song, concert and video was an opportunity to set a whole new level.

An example of this is the video for the song Thriller. It was more than a pop video; It was a mini film production.

Michael Jackson was a perfectionist; he was one of the greatest performers of all time, who left an immortal legacy.

When he was born into a large family on the 29th of August 1958, no one could have imagined that he would’ve became one of the most influential entertainers on this planet.

The world was captivated by Doria Ragland’s calm disposition as she sat alone during Meghan and Prince Harry’s wedding ceremony. The mum was praised for being so independent and strong, however, the public couldn’t help but feel for her, as she was the only member of Meghan’s family at the wedding.

Her dad Thomas Markle was slated for missing out on his daughter’s big day, but he has since hit back at the haters.

Thomas Markle has opened up about missing that monumental day in an emotional interview with ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

Shortly before Harry and Meghan tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel, it was revealed that her dad would not be attending the wedding.

He admitted that his daughter was heartbroken when he told her he wouldn’t make it to the wedding.

The dad revealed that he shared the news with his 36-year-old daughter in an emotional phone call just days before the wedding.

“They were disappointed. Meghan cried, I’m sure, and they both said ‘Take care of yourself, we are really worried about you’.”

Thomas said that despite the claims he genuinely wanted to be at the wedding, “I absolutely wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle.”

He may not have been there to celebrate with his daughter and now son-in-law Harry, but Thomas got to watch the ceremony on tv.

He stated that it was a joy to see his daughter walk down the aisle, adding that she looked beautiful.

“I was very proud. I was very upset that it wasn’t me [walking her down the aisle] but the whole world was watching my daughter. I was very happy about that,” he expressed.

He added: “The unfortunate thing for me now is I’m a footnote in one of the greatest moments in history rather than the dad walking her down the aisle. That upsets me somewhat.”

The proud dad gushed about his daughter and told the show that her happiness means everything to him.

“As long as they’re happy and they have a great life and have some beautiful children and do good things in the world, I can’t ask for more," he said.

Life doesn't get much better than Bey blasting, a couple of cocktails and soaking up the sun.

However, what you mightn't be aware of is: melanoma is prominent in Irish society.

In fact, the National Cancer Registry Ireland reports that diagnoses of melanoma have more than trebled in Ireland in the last twenty years. (EEK)

To raise awareness of the skin cancer, Boots is giving us a helping hand to still be sun goddess, but take care of our skin too!

Being the absolute lifesavers they are, Boots will be offering a mole scanning service.

To encourage a life-long habit to check your moles, the system will be rolled out in ten stores nationwide.

Boots engineered the check in conjunction with ScreenCancer UK.

The Boots Mole Scanning Service allows anyone aged 18 and over to have their moles or pigmented lesions scanned using a specialist device called a SIAscope.

Your scan will then be assessed by a dermatology specialist, and each person will receive a report based on the specialist assessment.

If any suspicious lesion is detected, the individual will be referred to their doctor or specialist for follow-on treatment.

Although you won’t get a skin cancer diagnosis from the service, it will help to identify any suspicious characteristics that may need more expert attention.

Melanoma has soared in Ireland and 10,000 cases are diagnosed each year.

However, if spotted early, up to 90 percent of cases are curable.

Included in the screening, you will also be provided with guidance on assessing your own moles using the ABCDE guide, and given further advice on staying safe in the sun.

You can use the guide to check yours before a more thorough screening in-store. Be sure to look out for:

  • A – Asymmetry: Irregular shape – the two halves should be symmetrical
  • B – Borders: Unclear, irregular or ragged boundaries against normal skin
  • C – Colour: Changes in colour – especially black, blue or uneven colours
  • D – Diameter: More than 5-6mm in diameter and changes in size
  • E – Evolving: Changes in shape, size and colour, itching or bleeding of existing moles, or a new mole.

As part of the service, people will also be provided with guidance on assessing their own moles using the ABCDE guide, and given further advice on staying safe in the sun.

The Mole Scanning service has been available in Boots pharmacies internationally since 2010.

They have scored in overall satisfaction as “good or higher” with 99 percent of respondents and 95 percent saying they would recommend the service to others.

The Mole Scanning service costs €39 for one mole scanned, and €19 for each additional mole scan, up to a maximum of four moles.

The service will be available in the following Boots stores: St Stephen’s Green, Dublin City Centre, Swords, County Dublin, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Shop Street, Galway city centre, Killarney, Co Kerry, Half Moon St, Cork, Letterkenny Retail Park, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Portlaoise, Co. Laois and Wexford, Co. Wexford.

He to due to tie the knot with his long-term partner, James Coyle.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the historic nuptials the dad said:

"I really wanted to do it for James. He hasn't been married. For me, what's interesting is I don't need to get married because I've been there, done that and have my wonderful children; but I'm pushing it because I think it's important for him. James hasn't had the stable life I have. I want to be able to give you that."

The marriage is expected to take place in the private chapel on Lord Ivar's country estate in Devon, later this summer.

During the ceremony, he will be given away by his ex-wife, Penny.

Lord Ivar has three daughters with his ex-wife.

The dad-of-three opened up to the Daily Mail about his children's reaction to the news:

"When I mentioned it to our eldest daughter, Ella, she said, 'Oh Pap, it's not a big deal. It's so normal nowadays'. Of course that generation, they're completely cool about the concept of this…We'll be pronounced partners in marriage, but the ceremony itself will be very small. It's just for the girls and close family and friends.

Sometimes all you need is a little help from your friends. But when you're struggling with mental illness it can seem impossible to face the world outside your bed, never mind ask a friend for help.

The shame and stigma attached to mental health issues doesn't exactly help either. And it seems to take high profile suicides, such as those of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, for the conversation around depression and anxiety to be pushed into the spotlight.

But there is hope, as writer Sheila O'Malley found out during her darkest days.

Taking to Twitter to share her story, O'Malley recalls the period after the death fo her father, when she was plunges into the depths of depression. Moving to a new department, she found herself unable to unpack her boxes.

Her good friend David sensed that she was struggling and reached out to help.

So on a Thursday evening, 10 of her closest friends barged into her apartment.

Not only did they get to work unpacking her apartment, but there was no judgement for her "inability to do the simplest things".

While she was overwhelmed and embarrassed at first, the sight of her friends turning her apartment into "Santa's workshop" made her feel loved.

While the advice of asking for help might seem simple it's far far harded than you might think. Sometimes its not possible at all, and that's were kind friends come in.

Be that friend. Don't ask for an invitation, it could save a loved one's life, or it could even save your own one day.

As if we didn't love him enough, David Beckham has proven once again, he isn't just a pretty face. The footballer is Unicef's Goodwill ambassador and of course, is an adoring dad to four children. The star has us swooning and sobbing as he pens the realities of being a dad for Unicef's early childhood development campaign, Early Moments Matter.

Here is the heartwarming letter:

"There are many emotions that run through us when we think about our children. But for me and for the many dads and mums I’ve spoken to about parenting over the years, it comes down to two things – love and fear. It is these emotions that push us to achieve more for our children, every day.

I recently travelled to Indonesia with Unicef, to Semarang in the Central Java Province to see the work of my 7 Fund for Unicef, which is helping the most vulnerable children get the best start in life, by empowering them to speak out, providing them with support, and protecting them from violence so they can unlock their incredible potential.

While I was in Semarang I met with a group of dads and their young children. We sat together, discussing the realities of fatherhood. And this notion of love and fear that takes over when we have kids, rang true in every one of them.

A post shared by David Beckham (@davidbeckham) on

This Early Childhood Development centre in the community is run so that parents and their young children have a place to spend time together and have a safe place to read and play together so I joined in one afternoon.

There is one dad in particular that I won’t forget. Imam, a 31-year-old father of a little boy called Vincent. Imam spent the first year of his son’s life working long days to try and make ends meet. He missed many precious early moments – the moments that often stay in our minds forever. His first laugh, his first words, his first steps,

Imam missed all of these to put food on the table. Focusing on being the main breadwinner was a tough ‘decision’ for him to make and one that left him full of fear. In the brief moments they would spend together, his son didn’t want to be near him. Imam feared that he’d missed his chance to build a special bond with Vincent.

He feared his child would grow up thinking his father didn’t love him, when actually his love is what pushed him to do his best to earn enough to give his child all the things he could ever need.

A post shared by David Beckham (@davidbeckham) on

On the day I met this father and son – whose story I imagine resonates with millions of dads across the world – you’d never guess that there was a day where Vincent didn’t want to be near his dad. He was clambering all over him, pulling at his face, laughing in response to the shapes he was making with dad’s cheeks.

Imam made the hard decision to change and to risk the income he really needed to support his family. He managed to get a new job, and as a result he was able to work less hours and spend more time with his son.

Imam now takes on a much bigger role in parenting – preparing his food, picking out his clothes, getting him bathed and dressed. But the biggest change he tells me about is the fact he now has time to play – one of the most important ways of building a child into who they will become.

In the fathers’ group I also met Ary, a father of two girls whose youngest is the same age as my daughter Harper. He told me about how he copes with his daily frustrations and anxiety.

A post shared by David Beckham (@davidbeckham) on

To cope, Ary told me that when he felt stressed, he would go on a fast bike ride to burn off some steam and to focus his thoughts. Even just a short bike ride would mean that when he arrived back home he would be able to be present and in the right state of mind to spend quality time with his kids.

It really helped me to talk to the group of dads in this way, and I’d encourage more dads to talk and share their experiences. Imam and Ary reminded me of when my kids were small; I didn’t want to miss a second, but of course there were times that I couldn’t be there. I feared they would do something for the first time and I wouldn’t be there to see it.

Just like Imam, I knew that spending as much quality time with my kids as I could, especially when they were young, was the most important thing in the world. And like Ary, I also realised pretty quickly, that there are never enough hours in the day to do all the things we want to do with our kids so as long as we make whatever the time available to us quality time, where we are present, as dads we’re winning.

I know through my work with Unicef that the first 1,000 days of life are the most critical time for a baby’s brain development, and their experiences during this time can have lifelong consequences – good and bad.

A post shared by David Beckham (@davidbeckham) on

We as parents all have an incredible opportunity to shape how our children’s brains develop. But without support, parents will continue to struggle to give their babies the play time, good food, and a whole lot of love they need.

All the fathers that I met spoke of their dreams and aspirations for their children. Every generation wants the next to be better, to have more opportunities and achieve their full potential. But we need to start from the very beginning to make this possible.

I’m still learning new things about fatherhood every day. You never stop learning. I was 24 when I had Brooklyn. Four kids now and nearly 20 years of experience as a father, and you never stop learning.
