Aoife Dooley is a force to be reckoned with.

Comedian, author, illustrator, creator of YourOneNikita, the list is endless as to what she has achieved.

Not to mention the fact that she has had to manage being diagnosed with autism earlier this year and has to put up with online trolls on a pretty much daily basis.

But none of it seems to faze her as we found out when we got to have a chat with her.

The 27-year-old is busy getting ready to launch an animated series of YourOneNikita on RTE as well as helping out Dublin Bus announce the winners of their Children's Art Competition today, but she gave us the goss on what she's been up to and how nervous she is for the RTE series debut next week…

Last day recording for the Your One Nikita tv series

A post shared by Aoife Dooley (@aoife_dooley) on

Her career

There might be many string to her bow, but it all began with illustrating.

She says, ''I always loved drawing even as far back as primary school. I didn't realise it at the time but I just wanted to do something that I enjoyed. Illustrating was really therapeutic for me.''

Aoife mentioned in an interview a while back that when she was floundering a few years ago, all she was sure of was that she ''wanted to be the best''.

And that struck a chord with me because isn't it so relatable to so many of us?

She advises, ''The most important thing is finding something that you're interested in and that brings you joy because then you'll always excel in it. Loads of practice too. I'm not by any means an amazing drawer, but it works for me and I love what I do. If you want to do well, you'll put the time in and make contacts.''

Social media

Speaking of pressure, social media is obviously not only a big part of everyone's life nowadays bit also a big part of Aoife's work – although she has had her fair share of the sh*ttier side of it.

She says, ''I just block people now. If I get mean messages in, I just block them from seeing my story. There was someone there the other day who kept messaging me and commenting on my stuff clearly fake profile so I just blocked them, I could not be arsed. Why would I leave that person on my page?''

She continues, ''The other thing [Bloggers Unveiled] was a bit different because that was going on over long periods of time and you;d get emails so if that happens again I'm aware of it and so are other people so that they can report it.''

Autism

Aoife was diagnosed in April at the age of 26 with autism and finding out has freed her and made life so much easier, although people don't really seem to know much about it.

She says, ''The spectrum is huge, people on it are just as individual as people who aren't autistic. Finding out was mad because I hadn't got a clue about it. I had a very stereotypical view about it and that's down to how it's portrayed in the media. It's always a man or a boy and they always seem to be at the severe end of the spectrum.''

Encouraged by a friend to go and get tested, her confidence has grown as a result.

''I'm a lot more at ease with myself because I know my limits now. I've been watching I'm A Celebrity with Anne Hegerty and she's brilliant, she's articulating it really well. I get really overwhelmed. If I'm really happy I start crying – it's like I don't have great control over my emotions but at least now I know what it is.''

She articulates it perfectly when she says, ''It's liberating know who you are when you haven't for the best part of your life when you thought you did.''

YourOneNikita

Aoife's web series, based on life living on the north side of Dublin and a Dublin girlo we're all familiar with, has achieved huge success.

It has spawned two hilarious books, How To Be Massive and How To Deal With Poxes and now, an animated RTE series is on the way.

The animations were finished in October and it's set to hit our screen on the week of November 26, but she's definitely a bit nervous. ''I hope people watch it and like it. Fingers crossed.''

Dublin Bus Children's Art Competition

Aoife is also involved with Dublin Bus Children's Art Competition, which takes place across 4th and 5th and 6th classes every year and encourages children to respect their bus driver, ''a great initiative'' as she says.

She has worked with Dublin Bus before, doing some animation for their school videos. So why did she decided to get involved with this competition?

''It's a really great idea – going through the entries I realised that a lot of kids had so much respect for their drivers, some even knew their names and I thought that it was lovely that they had that interaction with their bus drivers. ''

Forty-one entries will appear in the children's Dublin Bus art calender for 2019 and 11 images will appear on a Dublin Bus itself.

She continues, ''I wanted to get involved because I used to love entering those competitions when I was younger. So I said I was definitely going to be part of that.''

She's set to announce the winners for their annual competition today and we can reveal that it is Susan O'Reilly, a 4th class student from Canice's Girls School in Finglas. Well done!

Best of luck with everything Aoife – we seriously cannot WAIT to see YourOneNikita on RTE net week – we know it's gonna be massive.

Kim Kardashian west is one of the most well-known and easily recognisable names in the world, and while the KUWTK star is rolling in job offers for brand endorsements, TV roles and makeup appearances, us mere mortals have only our CVs and charm to rely on when it comes to securing a job.

However, one person has utilised their online nod of approval from Kim K herself to stand out from the crowd.

Twitter user, blogger and author Chris Sumlin is on the career hunt, and under the accomplishments section of the resume, he added that Kim Kardashian has personally tweeted him to applaud his work.

'Retweeted by Kim Kardashian West for impressive work in graduate school,' the CV reads.

'Y’all I added that @KimKardashian retweeted my graduate school paper on my resume and I’ve already booked THREE job interviews in less than a week' he tweeted.

'This woman’s influence is helping me secure a bag.'

Kim herself saw his tweet – and responded. 'Good luck! I hope you get the jobs!' she wrote.

Chris has already updated his CV once more for potential employers, letting them know that his hunt for the career of his dreams has been given Kim's seal of approval once again.

The Grad Student faced a little bit of criticism for his tweets and association with Kim – with one tweeter asking if the secret to securing employment was to make a sex tape, a dig at Kim's original fame stunt – one which she rode the wave of to become one of the world's most successful and prosperous brands.

In response, Chris said: 'No the secret to scoring a job interview is to leverage social media to create opportunities for yourself not use it to hate and talk mess with a stock photo as an avi.'

Yes queen – lets use these opportunities to build one another up not dismiss one another's achievements.

You know the holidays are coming when McDonalds rolls out their Christmas menu.

Focusing on winter warming ingredients, the fast food fanatics have introduced two new burger concepts bursting with festive flavour.

The distinctive menu features a brand new chicken-based burger, and it's launching across the nation today.

The Chicken Big Tasty, chicken selects, Big Tasty sauce, slivered onions, square cut lettuce, a tomato slice, and Emmental cheese in a square sesame topped bun, is the latest take on the original Big Tasty with beef – which is also making a comeback.

It will be accompanied by a Big Tasty with bacon.

Vegetarians and cheese aficionados will be delighted to hear that Cheese Dippes, served with spicy tomato dip, are back on the menu.

Reindeer Treats (carrot bags!) are also now available from all McDonald’s restaurants, the perfect way to get #ReindeerReady for the big day itself.

However, the famous The Terry's Chocolate Orange McFlurry did not make it back on to the menu, for what would have been it's third appearance.

The Terry's Chocolate Orange McFlurry made a huge splash when it was introduced in 2016 and 2017, as fans of the chocolate treat flocked to get their fix.

However, it has ben replaced this year with a new offering -The Maltesers Reindeer McFlurry: Soft dairy ice cream swirled with mini Malteaser Reindeer shapes, mini Maltesers clusters and a milk chocolate sauce.

Frankly, it sounds just as delicious and we may have ti start incorporating it into our regular dessert rotation.

For coffee fans, the Toffee Latte is returning – a large shot of delicious Arabica bean espresso, with rich toffee syrup and steamed organic milk, topped with a swirl of cream and a toffee drizzle.

However, we're most excited for the new addition – The Millionaire’s Latte.

The delicious new member of the McCafé family comprises of a large shot of espresso blended with steamed milk, a caramel biscuit flavour syrup, topped with a swirl of chocolate cream and a caramel drizzle – we're drooling as we speak.

We all know and adore Chrissy Teigan; gorgeous model, hilarious social media darling, wife of John Legend and just all-round sound lady.

Teigan visited Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show for a chat to discuss her new cookbook, Cravings 2, and the clapback queen discussed the topic of retouching in the modelling industry.

While some take issue with their hips, thighs or facial area, Teigan confessed that she has a major problem with showing her feet. Random…

Chrissy claims that her feet are so ugly that she has written in her legal contract that they must be retouched or hidden in every photoshoot. This is the gospel truth, we swear.

After casually mentioning her hatred of bare feet, she was quick to cover up her toes while sitting in Ellen's infamous chair.

Chrissy laughed and said jokingly, "I have Asian jungle feet, like we're meant to climb trees." (Her mother is from Thailand, her dad is of Norwegian descent)

Of course Ellen tried to get a good look at those notorious toes, but Chrissy slid off the couch and literally sat on her feet so nobody could have a viewing of them. Damn, we're intrigued now.

When asked how she could pull off this contract clause in various shoots, such as swimsuit campaigns, the media personality explained:

"I used to have it in my Sports Illustrated contract: no feet," she said. "I would bury them in the sand."

Now, we have obviously had to google 'Chrissy Teigan feet', because we had to see this. Her feet were, dare we say it, GLOWING.

Teigan admitted that she has to wear open-toed shoes to red carpet events and other major media ceremonies, but we have no clue why she's insecure about her feet. They're prettier than our future.

Keep slayin' Chrissy, your down-to-earth vibe is keeping us alive.

It’s been years since we have had a quality, entertaining and not completely cringeworthy Christmas movie.

And I can happily announce that the wait is over…

Today The Christmas Chronicles is on Netflix and it is everything we hoped for in a feel good holiday film.

Can you believe that it’s been decades since the release of our favourites like The Santa Clause (1994) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)? That really was the golden age of Christmas movies.

The Christmas Chronicles tells a modern holiday story, following the life of a family after they experience a tragic loss.

Struggling with inner turmoil and teen angst, Teddy is on track to a life on the naughty list. But after he helps his younger sister Kate and Santa save Christmas, he discovers the extent of his true potential.

The siblings don't get on how they used to since Teddy became a teenager and are forced to work together to keep the holiday spirit alive, repairing their relationship in the process.

Kate captures the whole night on her family's old camcorder, adding a home video quality that adds to the originality of the film.

But Kurt Russell steals the show as the hearty Saint Nick we know and love with an uplifting spirit and a twinkle in his eye.

The movie has everything a Christmas film should have – an uplifting storyline, a fun-filled adventure, and heartwarming predictability.

The movie has received mixed reviews – some are calling it cheesy and condemning its sub-par cinematography while others have responded that those haters just don’t get the point of the film.

Like The Santa Clause, it exposes an ‘imperfect family’ and shows how their familial bonds can be stronger than ever before.

It’s the kind of film you can put on with your mates while drinking hot cocoa in your footie pyjamas snuggled on the sofa.

So, just embrace the cheesiness and love the film for everything it has promised to be – the embodiment of a feel good Christmas classic.

Oh and did we mention who plays Mrs. Clause? Watch until the end of the film to catch her surprise cameo.

It’s the perfect holiday movie to add to your binge list this December.

G&T's have become one of the most popular drinks on the market, but how is the spirit evolving? It's sophisticated reputation and delicious flavours create the ideal cocktails, as well as becoming the perfect confidence booster BFF:

"You should go to the dancefloor and show off your hip moves, you're such a great dancer" – as said by Hendricks, overheard in Coppers in October 2018. Hendricks was later proven wrong.

There's no doubt about just how much gin has grown in the world of spirits, with Scottish gin especially undergoing a massive revival.

According to the Irish Times, the on-trade gin market in Ireland is now worth at an all-time high of €50 million. It's image has become transformed from a seemingly 'mother's choice' to a millennial's favourite.

We've put together a list of gin trends for 2019, so you can prepare your livers for the changes due to come in next year for the gin world. Get yourselves ready for relentless gin puns throughout, you have been warned.

1. GINcredible flavours

Gin flavours are KILLING the game right now, and they're showing no sign of slowing down.

A post shared by Cocktail Society  (@aboutdrinksandbars) on

Botanical delights such as berry pink gin, plum and cinnamon, pomegranate and rose, lemon drizzle, rhubarb and ginger to passionfruit gin liqueurs, salted caramel flavour and even a bubblegum taste, the flavours of gin available are GINfinite (sorry not sorry).

Copeland Spirits, based in Co. Down, specialises in 37.8% flavoured gins. Aldi Ireland stock its GINSANELY good Rhuberry flavour, naturally infused with local fruit, as well as its new, limited-edition infusion Spiced Apple and Blackcurrant.

Founder of Copeland Spirits, Gareth Irvine has recently spoken about the journey which gin flavours is currently on, saying that a shift in what's popular is incoming:

“Flavours to date have been quite seasonal or trend-led and associated solely to summer, or unicorns, or crazy colours and not veer too much away from berries. Over the coming months, we’ll see the flavour ideas get more adventurous incorporating spices, herbs, exotic fruits.

“Often-times, trend-led flavoured gins are of poor quality and are full of syrups, additives or sugar, rather than real fruit. In addition, the volume is generally around 20% and so a liqueur as opposed to a gin."

Hmmm, this is heart-breaking news. Some of our fave flavah's are legit just sugar and syrup…but this is changing. Thank GOD. We get enough sugar as it is.

Gareth predicts that consumers will start to focus more on quality, just like we saw with unflavoured gin and this will catapult flavoured gin into a category all of its own. Noted, Gareth.

2. GIN-vironmentally friendly

With the introduction of plastic-free consumer goals, especially in terms of straws in bars and restaurants, it's no surprise that gin companies are noticing this important trend. The 'waste not/want not' ideology is spreading fast, with bartenders becoming more aware of the value of not throwing away unneccesary food and drink waste.

A post shared by Oakmade (@oakmadeuk) on

“We’re thinking first and drinking second. We’ve noticed cocktail menus are changing slightly as bartenders consciously look for ways to minimise food waste." according to Gareth.

When it comes to garnishes such as lemon wedges, egg yolks and limes, the amount of fruit that is thrown away or used needlessly purely for the same of appearance is pretty shocking.

Rather than sweeping these used garnishes into to the bin, some bars have making what is becoming known as ‘closed-loop’ cocktails, where excess fruit is used to create natural syrup or saved for pitchers.

Bars becoming conscious about their eco-footprint is imperative, especially since spirit companies rely heavily on the land to create their infused gins.

3. GINcrease in gin brands

Wait, you mean… we're going to see even more gin? YAS.

More brands will be arriving on the scene next year, with supermarket-owned brands such as Aldi helping to increase access to the category.

Gin-lovers in Ireland are a passionate bunch of people, and brands are taking that passion seriously. As more and more brands come on the scene, people will only connect with the ones that have strong values, for example supporting the environment or raising talent through graduate programmes.

Brands will be providing a quality product that is conscious of price and quality. Amen to that.

4. GINnovation

Brands in 2019 hope to focus on some brand new categories, many of our favourite brands which have risen in the last three years didn't exist prior to the gin renaissance. These brands, whose journeys are only really beginning, will be competing to adapt in the long-term industry pool.

Gin and spirit companies will begin experimentation with distilling and flavours which will likely benefit gin, and those who drink it, i.e. us.

We predict that experimentation will lead to some unreal new flavours and tastes, we also volunteer as tribute to test these new tastes. It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

The biggest earning women in the music industry have been announced and we are rather surprised by the top spot.

Katy Perry stole the number one place on the list of the top ten highest-paid women in the industry for 2018.

Forbes released their list and said that the singer made an incredible $83 million this year.

Katy secured her ranking thanks to her highly successful Witness: The Tour.

The singer reportedly made an eye-watering one million dollars a night whilst on tour.

This was coupled with a judging gig for an American Idol reboot, which allegedly saw the 34-year-old walk away with a payslip for a cool $20 million.

Hot on Perry's heels was Taylor Swift, who was our prediction for the top spot.

Clearly, we were wrong as Swift only bagged $80 million this year.

But our guess wasn't entirely inaccurate as Forbes did cite the reason she didn't get first was due to her Reputation Stadium Tour dates were outside of this year's scoring period.

Tay-tay enjoyed a highly successful launch of her album Reputation, which sold two million copies globally in its first week on sale.

Beyonce secured third place, making $60 million.

Despite Bey being busy raising a family, she had some fantastic highlights over the year, such as her powerhouse performance at Coachella.

This was coupled with the release of her album with hubby Jay-Z in June.

Forbes indicated that she would do very well in their 2019 list as most of her earnings from her On The Run II tour will fall into next year's scoring period.

Pink claimed fourth place earning ($52 million) and Lady Gaga was placed in fifth ($50 million).

Followed behind them was Jennifer Lopez ($47 million), Rihanna ($37.5 million) and  Helene Fischer ($32 million).

Celine Dion took ninth ($31 million) and last but by no means last, Britney Spears finished off the list ($30 million).

It's fair to say every woman on the list works incredibly hard.

I have just checked my bank account and can confirm that I have all of 47 cent to my name, so there's no competition here.

You know you're not common folk anymore when you make this type of mistake.

The queen of beauty, Kylie Jenner went on the shopping spree – but it didn't really go to plan.

Picking up some of her products, pretending to be an average person, Kylie forgot one crucial element.

Handing over the basket at the till, she looks excited and stuns in a full pink suit.

However, she quickly realises she has forgotten one important thing, asking: "Does anyone have any cash?"

The moment was caught on video and uploaded to Twitter with the caption: "Kylie went to buy her own product but forgot her money."

That's right, Kylie never thought about bringing money to the store to purchase her own goods.

We imagine that she got them for free anyway – but AWKS.

Kylie launched her new collection earlier this week.

You know you're living the high life when money isn't something you even think about anymore when you leave the house.
