Yearly Archives: 2018

In light of the Tristan and Khloe cheating drama bubbling to the surface once again, it's time to unleash a cheating guide.

Let's face it, no matter how you find out – it's absolutely gut-wrenching.

I'm truly sorry it has happened to you, but here's what you SHOULD and SHOULDN'T do.

DON'T contact the person your partner cheated with.

Even if the other person is the one who has told you about your partner's infidelity, thank them and BLOCK.

The reason why you should block their number and give them a social media blackout is for your own piece of mind.

Before you hit the block button, evaluate the evidence they have sent you – in the VERY rare cases that you need to explain further, you can ask.

But after that, it's time to move away from that source of pain, particularly if they're still actively pursuing your partner.

It's tempting to go after them, slander their name and hold them accountable, but at the end of the day, it's your partner's fault – NOT THEIRS.

DO look at the cheating evidence calmly

This is a hard one; keeping cool in such an emotionally charged situation takes some serious discipline.

However, you need to make sure you have concrete evidence that your partner has actually done the dirty.

This way, when you confront them – they can't lie their way out of it AND you aren't jumping to conclusions without any proof.

Because if you get it wrong – although you can apologise a million times, the damage to the trust within the relationship will be huge.

If you're still uncertain about what you have received, my advice is to sit back and watch your partner's actions.

Are they taking a little more pride in their appearance? Has your sex life died or rocketed? Are they being nicer for no real reason? Take notes and gather the information you need.

Your gut tends to have an intuition about things kind of things, anyway.

DON'T explode when you confront your cheating partner

I wish someone had given me this advice when I found out my partner had cheated on me, because exploding at him didn't help.

The calmer you are, the more likely you are to get answers from your unfaithful bf/gf.

Although it would be wonderful to scream and shout at them about how much you hate them for what they did – that reaction makes you as bad as they are.

You aren't being a walk over by being level-headed and you're keeping your dignity when they've lost theirs – don't stoop.

DO get out the anger in healthy ways.

Punch a pillow and not a wall.

Go and put all the angry energy into a workout or baking. Do something that will give you the release but with a positive outcome – like cookies.

And do cry, howl and scream when you're away from the cheating b*stard whilst screaming your heart out to a tonne of I hate you break up playlists.

Use friends to vent and cry with and just get it all out.

DON'T try to get revenge

Wouldn't you love to make your ex or currently cheating partner feel as bad as you feel when you found out? – If you're nodding yes to this – you may want to reconsider.

If you want to save the relationship, this mindset is a dangerous one.

You'll only create a toxic situation and if you're now single – keep your head held high and don't bother wasting any more energy on the pr*ck.

If you go out seeking to kiss or sleep with someone to get back at your partner – I can guarantee you'll only make everything worse.

The only thing real revenge you can give your ex is being truly happy without them.

DO invest in yourself

It's a ridiculously hard time, the one person you trusted and loved has betrayed you.

So now it's time to invest all the energy you gave the relationship into yourself.

Plan out nice activities, like going to get a facial or a haircut – treat yourself.

After everything you've been through, you deserve some self-care.

DON'T over analyse why your partner cheated

We always question what WE'VE done wrong in the relationship for our partner to wonder to someone else.

Sometimes it comes as a total shock and other times, deep down we knew it was happening.

But the most important thing to know when you're going through this is – you don't hold any answers.

Your partner will be the only one who knows why they strayed and you may never ever get the real truth.

If you do decide to stay with the cheater, I highly recommend going to couple's therapy to help navigate these questions.

DO hold your cheating partner accountable

The old saying: once a cheater, always a cheater is sadly true for most cases.

You can hold your partner accountable for his/her actions – so if this means ending the relationship, do so.

But if you stay, recognise the pain, and take time to heal. Then you have to move forward with your relationship.

This doesn't mean you've let it go completely, but you've got to decide what you want from the relationship moving forward.

What will it take for your partner to gain your trust back?

DON'T go through their phone/invade their privacy

Okay, it's perfectly reasonable to have a look through their phone if you've caught them red handed.

But if you chose to stay, you have to respect your partner's privacy.

So if you're regularly checking their Facebook messages and phone for suspicious messages – it's time to look at your relationship again.

A healthy relationship consists of mutual trust and respect, which includes their right to privacy, even if they've done something really sh*tty.

DO take some time away from that person – you're in no rush

Time is on your side here. You don't have to make any rash decisions about your relationship.

If your partner is truly sorry for their actions, they will allow you space and time to process what has happened.

If they aren't willing to wait – RUN, they've done you a favour and shown you their true colours.

But once you've made a choice either way – live with it.

This means if you've chosen to stay, you can't bring up the cheating in every argument or every time you feel insecure – this only undermines the relationship and it's demise will soon follow.

But if you give it a go and sometime later, you decide that you can't continue – that's perfectly fine too. You need to be honest with yourself about what you're willing to accept.

And lastly, this should be a given, but for your own sake, DO NOT plaster it all over social media. You might regret it and delete it all, but one word  – screenshots.

Now two fantastic men are calling your name – it's called Ben and Jerry's – so indulge and remember, it can only get better from here.

Some say it’s priceless but, today, exhausted women have put a figure on what they believe a good night’s sleep is worth.

According to new research, desperately tired mums, who are arguably the most tired demographic among us, say they’d splash out £123 for a single night’s uninterrupted sleep.

That’s almost £45,000 a year and a quarter of a million pounds over the course of five years.

The survey of 2,000 Brits to celebrate the launch of the world’s first personalised pillow service, nanu, revealed that mums are the most sleep deprived of all and, as such, would give up some of life’s little luxuries, for a bit of shuteye.

Almost one in four would wave goodbye to wine, a third would give up chocolate and the same number admit they’d happily go without sex if it meant they could increase their current five hours’ broken sleep a night to the recommended eight.

Fewer than half that number of men (12 percent) said they’d swap sex for sleep, preferring to give up booze, their phones or chocolate.

The average person survives on just six hours and 24 minutes’ sleep a night, and almost half of adults (46 percent) say they’re lucky if they get one night of uninterrupted sleep every month.

More than seven out of 10 reckon they’re a “bad sleeper” and almost nine out of 10 wake up at least once every night.

Other than kids keeping us awake, we’re worriers with many laying awake thinking about money, family, health and jobs, as well as household chores and even Brexit.

More women (74 percent) say worry keeps them awake than men (56 percent).

Other reasons for our restlessness include old and uncomfortable mattresses and pillows, noisy neighbours and our pets.

Just a tiny handful – seven percent – say they’re lucky enough to enjoy a refreshing snooze every single night.

Ok so it's not even Christmas yet and we're talking about summer 2019.

BUT this is Indiependence and two unreal acts have been announced as the headliners.

And they are *drum roll please*…Biffy Clyro and Bastille.

These two acts are set to perform at Deer Farm in the Mitchelstown festival from August 2 to 4.

This is the second time that Bastille will be taking to the stage there, having  performed in 2013 when their hit Pompeii was topping charts worldwide.

Biffy Clyro are also not strangers to the huge stages, having headlined Reading and Leeds this summer.

The festival, which is in it's tenth year, is one of Ireland’s festival success stories as it has grown from its initial 3,000 capacity into 15,000 people expected in 2019.

Wow.

Ticket prices will not go up like they did in 2017 and 2018.

Weekend camping tickets are on sale now at €139 and will go to €149 on January 1.

Weekend VIP camping tickets are on sale now at €169 and will go to  €189 on January 1.

If this isn't a wake up call to the Irish government, we don't know what will be.

But Ireland's capital city has now earned the depressing title of being the hardest place to find affordable accommodation in the WORLD.

In the survey, we even beat notorious cities for terribly over-priced housing, such as Paris and London.

The research was conducted by InterNationsm who asked 18,000 respondents to rank cities around the globe in a number of areas.

It was in their 'finance and housing' section that Dublin was crowned the worst.

In the Expat City Ranking 2018,  our captial city secure 72nd position out of 72 major cities.

Furthermore, nine out of 10 foreign workers feel that the city's local housing is not affordable.

But it wasn't just forking out for housing that the participates were unhappy about – but the high cost of living in Dublin.

70 percent of expats said it was an issue.

It isn't all doom and gloom, despite their bank accounts screaming – they found a warm welcome and job opportunities here.

Eight in 10 people said that local friendlinesses was ripe in the city and they felt welcomed into their new home.

Considering this and all of the other sub-sections, it led us to a ranking of 66th position in the overall table.

The company’s CEO Malte Zeeck explained our less than perfect performance, saying: “Expats in Dublin are less than satisfied with life in the city, putting the Irish capital in the bottom 10 of the Expat City Ranking."

"The result is mainly due to the city’s poor performance regarding the quality of urban living, as well as finance & housing." – That's no surprise since half of us can't even afford to move out of the family gaff.

“Once again, Dublin performs well in terms of local friendliness, with 78 per cent of expats rating the general friendliness of the city’s residents favourably, whilst just 62 per cent say the same globally," he added.

"This is especially noteworthy when we look at Dublin's UK counterpart, London, where barely half the residents, just 53 per cent, consider the local residents to be friendly.” – BOOM, well done Dublin!

If you're sick of Dublin's crappy housing – Taipei was ranked the number one best city, Singapore came in second and Manama was third.

So you never know, 2019 could be your year to relocate.

He first burst onto the screen on the Late Late Toy Show in 2009 in what is a now iconic piece of Irish telly.

John Joe Brennan warmed the hearts of the nation when he we told host Tubs about his love of clocks.

The eight-year-old announced that he wanted to be a ''horologist'' and stole the show, and our hearts.

But where is the little boy from Roscommon now, you might wonder.

Well, it turns out that he is now 17-years-old and living in Paris – but he still loves clocks just as much as he did almost ten years ago.

John Joe's parents, Neil Gurry and Karen Brennan have said that they still can't believe what a sensation their son became after the show.

Neil said, "We didn't think anything of it. And then the next day, on the Internet, it was, you know, 'I want John Joe to fix my clock'. He had more hits on The Late Late Show site than Tom Cruise.''

John Joe is now studying for his baccalaureat and is also bilingual speaking as fluent in French as English.

Fancy.

While he still is mad about clocks, horology isn't the career he wants anymore – he would rather be an auctioneer.

We're sure that whatever he does, he will be a hit.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning today for five counties, with heavy rain expected to hit the east of the country until Wednesday morning.

The official warning is in place for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath. Motorists have also been urged to take extra care on roads this morning as a result of the wet weather.

Forecaster Pat Clarke said: "The next 24 hours will be the coldest and the wettest."

Clarke continued; "Obviously drivers will have to be careful. There could be some water on the roads and there is the possibility of hail."

A wind-chill factor around coastal areas will contribute to the frosty feel of the weather, with temperatures expected to fall to five degrees.

"There is the possibility of downpours and there may be some thunder mixed in," Mr Clarke said. Dublin Fire Brigade have also issued a road warning:

Unusually, the current inclement conditions have predominantly hit the east coast, Met Éireann says.

The weekend is expected to be far less damp, on Thursday the temperature will rise to 8 degrees and fewer showers will occur.

In terms of traffic, AA Roadwatch has urged motorists to slow down as roads across the country are very slippery this morning:

"Roads are damp or wet in much of the country this morning following overnight rain. It's particularly wet in parts of the midlands and along the east coast."

"When driving on wet roads slow down and leave a safe distance between yourself and the vehicle in front."

West Munster is getting the best of the weather at the moment, but tonight will be cold with further rain and hail showers scattered nationwide.

The 31-year-old, who starred on the hit E4 show The Inbetweeners for two years as Jay Cartwright has opened up about whether his little ones will ever get to watch their dad ons screen in it.

And it looks like the answer is a firm 'no'.

We absolutely LOVED James as Jay, the teen lad prone to slight exaggerations about his experience with the opposite sex.

While James was hysterical in the role, it probably isn't one he's gonna want his kids to see.

Which is fair enough as the actor is now worlds away from the character, having been married to Scottish former model Claire Meek for six years.

The couple also have two children, seven-year-old Harrison and five-year-old Jude.

On why he won't allow his sons to watch the cult TV show that made him famous, he says that, ''It’s different for me as I’m supposed to be their dad. I don’t want them to see me behaving in that way.''

The Inbetweeners, which also starred Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas ran for three series from 2008 until 2010, focusing on four teenage boys as the tried to get through school and the minefield that is being 17.

Does he think it could still be as successful if it was on telly today?

James says that, ''Nowadays, it feels very black and white with comedy. There’s no in-between, it’s just, “This person said this on television – isn’t that terrible?” And it’s killing comedy, because you’re not allowed to joke about anything, it seems. There seems to be joke police nowadays.''

He added, ''It seems to be cool at the moment to be offended by stuff, and that’s a shame.''

We agree James – bring back the good aul days of The Inbetweeners.

Irish actress Evanna Lynch, known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter franchise, lost out in the US Dancing With The Stars final despite receiving a perfect score last night.

Despite missing out on the glitterball trophy, the 7-year-old actress received numerous special good luck messages from her former co-stars.

"Evanna, you are in the final! Can we just say this again? You are in the final. I am so proud of you. We love you. We are rooting for you. Kill it tonight, girl," Emma Watson shared in a video wishing her luck.

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, joked about their differing Hogwarts houses: "Despite all of our differences at Hogwarts, I want to wish you all the very best tonight!"

Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Katie Leung, and Neville Longbottom himself Matthew Lewis all shared good luck messages to Evanna as she headed into the finals of the popular US dance show.

J.K. Rowling also cheered on the actress: “Best of luck, Evanna. Hope you win!” Rowling had been a huge support to Lynch during her adolescence.

Radio personality Bobby Bones was eventually crowned winner, each of the four contestants were tasked with performing two dances: Firstly their most memorable from the season, and then a freestyle performance.

Judge Bruno Tonioli  gave Evanna's dance with partner Keo Motsepe high praise, saying; "It was bright, it was colourful, it was quirky."

The duo received a 30 out of 30 for the dance, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to get Evanna the crown.
