forbes list

The biggest earning women in the music industry have been announced and we are rather surprised by the top spot.

Katy Perry stole the number one place on the list of the top ten highest-paid women in the industry for 2018.

Forbes released their list and said that the singer made an incredible $83 million this year.

Katy secured her ranking thanks to her highly successful Witness: The Tour.

The singer reportedly made an eye-watering one million dollars a night whilst on tour.

This was coupled with a judging gig for an American Idol reboot, which allegedly saw the 34-year-old walk away with a payslip for a cool $20 million.

Hot on Perry's heels was Taylor Swift, who was our prediction for the top spot.

Clearly, we were wrong as Swift only bagged $80 million this year.

But our guess wasn't entirely inaccurate as Forbes did cite the reason she didn't get first was due to her Reputation Stadium Tour dates were outside of this year's scoring period.

Tay-tay enjoyed a highly successful launch of her album Reputation, which sold two million copies globally in its first week on sale.

Beyonce secured third place, making $60 million.

Despite Bey being busy raising a family, she had some fantastic highlights over the year, such as her powerhouse performance at Coachella.

This was coupled with the release of her album with hubby Jay-Z in June.

Forbes indicated that she would do very well in their 2019 list as most of her earnings from her On The Run II tour will fall into next year's scoring period.

Pink claimed fourth place earning ($52 million) and Lady Gaga was placed in fifth ($50 million).

Followed behind them was Jennifer Lopez ($47 million), Rihanna ($37.5 million) and  Helene Fischer ($32 million).

Celine Dion took ninth ($31 million) and last but by no means last, Britney Spears finished off the list ($30 million).

It's fair to say every woman on the list works incredibly hard.

I have just checked my bank account and can confirm that I have all of 47 cent to my name, so there's no competition here.

She’s covered Vogue, been the face of Estée Lauder and has walked the Victoria Secret runway, so by all accounts it has been one busy year for model Kendall Jenner.

As well boosting her CV no end, it has now been revealed that in the last year the 20-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has upped her income by 150 percent, bringing her annual total to a massive $10 million.

Kendall ranked third in Forbes’ yearly list of highest earning models, while lucrative deals with the likes of Chanel and Pantene put Gisele Bündchen in the top spot for the fourteenth year in a row.

Despite having announced her catwalk retirement, the 36-year-old Brazilian supermodel has made $30.5 million since this time last year.

Second place went to Adriana Lima who made only a third of Gisele’s salary with $10.5 million.

Forbes has noted how stars like Kendall and her BFF Gigi Hadid – who tied in fifth place with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for their $9 million incomes – have used their impressive social media followings to land major deals with big brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.

Almost one third of the women on this year’s list have never appeared on it before.  Lily Aldridge, Jasmine Tookes and Taylor Hill have all made their Forbes debuts thanks to their work with Victoria Secrets.

So, where is it we get our wings?

It's been a huge twelve months for Saoirse Ronan, and what a way to top it off.

The Irish actress, who's been tipped for an Oscar thanks to her role in Brooklyn, has just been named on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.

It's a prestigious nod for sure – former entrants on the list include Mark Zuckerberg, Lena Dunham and fellow Irish natives Patrick and John Collison of Stripe.

Forbes noted that Saoirse's performance in Brooklyn had set "critics fluttering," listing her name in the Hollywood & Entertainment category alongside Zendaya, Alicia Vakander, Dakota Johnson and more.

Also honoured on this year's list is Daire Hickey, the co-founder of Web Summit, which this year will move to Lisbon after five hugely successful years in Dublin.

The list mentions Daire's success in "pulling in more that $2 million [€1.8m] in media partnerships for 2015 alone."

Daire started the Web Summit back in 2012 along with Paddy Cosgrave and David Kelly – but this is the first time any of the trio have been recognised on the 30 Under 30 list.

Here's to many more Irish names on the list in years to come.

Kendall Jenner is no doubt celebrating with a few expensive cocktails today.

The KUWTK made her first appearance in a very exclusive grouping – the Forbes list of the world's highest-paid models.

At 19, Kendall is the youngest face on the list, which features 21 beauties who are raking in some serious cash for strutting the catwalks.

Kendall's annual salary of €3.5m after tax earns her spot number 16 on the list, ahead of Hilary Rhoda, Kate Upton and Jourdann Dunn.

The young star signed to Wilhelmina Models five years ago, but had her big break in February 2014 when she walked for Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week.

Dressed in brown and beige neutrals with a razor sharp bobbed wig and pale make-up, the teen looked nothing like the glamour-puss fans were used to seeing on the red carpet.

Since then she's gone on to work for Fendi, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and Balmain among others.

Topping the list by a long shot is Gisele Bundchen who took home an incredible €38.5m last year, beating her nearest competitors, Cara Delevingne and Adriana Lima by €30m.

Other famous faces include Doutzen Kroes (€6.5 million), Miranda Kerr (€5 million), Karlie Kloss (tying at €4m with Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel), and Kate Moss (€3.9m).

What a fierce gang of ladies!

The Forbes list for the World's 100 Most Powerful Women was released today, and it contains some pretty heavy hitters.

Considered the annual benchmark for the females influencing and creating change over the last 12 months, the Forbes list doesn't lie.

This year's rankings are no different, and although German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list for the fifth time in a row, there are some other names in there that we reckon could knock her off the number one spot next time around.

Aged just 25, Taylor Swift is the youngest woman to be included, and while she has a long way to climb, she is doing well for her first entrance in 64th place.

The singer is estimated to have a net worth of around €75 million, and her award-winning album 1989 had the biggest first-week sales of any record in a whopping 12 years.

As well as that, she still has time to chill with her BFFs… and document it all for us on social media.

Further up the list is fellow singer Beyoncé at number 21, this year's highest-ranking entertainer.

Given that Bey and her husband Jay-Z managed to generate an incredible €85 million from just 19 US shows on their On The Run tour last year, we reckon Beyoncé is a pretty powerful female alright.

US Vogue editor Anna Wintour also made it into the top 50, ranking at number 28 this year.

The famously ruthless magazine queen joins other fashion heavyweights Diane Von Furstenberg (75th place) and Miuccia Prada (79th place) on the 2015 list.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara might seem like an unusual inclusion at 57th place, but considering that she is currently the highest paid woman in television, we can see why she deserves a nod.

Sofia reportedly takes home €300K per 25-minute episode of the show, and that's not counting her film roles and endorsement deals.

Coming in just behind Angela Merkel in second and third place this year are US Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, along with philanthropist Melinda Gates, wife of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

Other big names to make the list include Oprah Winfrey (12th place), Ellen DeGeneres (50th place),  Angelina Jolie (54th place) and Shakira (81st place).

That is quite a group of women!
