You don't have to be vegan to buy or support cruelty-free cosmetics.

Every euro you spend sends a powerful message.

That's why supporting brands that don't test on animals like bunnies and puppies is clearly the way to go!

We have 11 products you can buy guilt-free, and that won't compromise you looking fabulous. (You can thank us later).

1. The Prince of Darkness – Lush

Kicking off the list, we are going to the dark side.

Lush has created an activated charcoal face mask called the Prince of Darkness.

The product often sells out and it's easy to understand why. It's infused with lavender oil and fine sea salt to clean the depths of your skin (and possibly your soul). It will have your face feeling soft and refreshed after it works its magic.

They will have to pry it out of my lifeless hand before I stop using it.

2. 'Tattoo Liner' – Kat Von D

This eyeliner is one that just doesn't budge.

Crying your eyes out after being dumped? Don't worry because your eyeliner will still look unreal.

Being attacked by hayfever season? This eyeliner has you covered as your eyes and nose may run, but this ain't going anywhere.

End up in a CAR accident? Once again, the liner comes through to have those cat eyes looking sharp.

The queen of tattooing had us covered when she was designing the product.

3. Yes, Please! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette – ColourPop

Yes, Please! – Just take our money. This eyeshadow palette is stunning, practical and pigmented.

Hitting their best selling list, the shades give you a subtle pop of colour.

Perfect for a night out in town or a dinner date catch up, this cruelty-free palette is an absolute steal.

4.  Soft Neutral Wine Matte Lipstick – Charlotte Tilbury

The matte revolution is a limited edition, so you better act fast if you want to paint the town red with this lippy.

Inspired by our favourite Friday night hobby (WINE), this lipstick is a luscious red that will make your lips stand out from the crowd.

On the slightly dear side of life, the dazzling colour and smooth application makes it worth every penny.

5.  Brazilian Cupacu Scrub-In-Oil – The Body Shop

The secret to why this body scrub is unbelievable is nut oil. When they made oils, they didn't make them equal.

This scrub contains the cupuaçu nut which is responsible for Amazonian's enviously beautiful skin.

It's a tag team as the magical oil is mixed with fine salt crystals.

The combo means the scrub is much more effective at penetrating and exfoliating the skin.

The Body Shop is also massively against animal testing and you will currently receive a fiver off your purchase if you sign their petition in store. It's really a no-brainer.

6. Nail Polish – Catrice

You don't have to lose your sparkle when shopping cruelty-free.

This stunning nail polish is a combination of Shake & Seal Top Coat ‘01 Ocean Drive’ over ICONails Gel Lacquer ‘55 All Roads Lead To The Ocean’.

For those eagle-eyed beauty lovers, you might have already guessed that the range is available in Pennys.

It's the shop that just keeps on giving!

7.  Superdrug Extracts Shampoo & Conditioner – Superdrug

Don't compromise your haircare, these shampoos and conditioners from the Superdrug range will have you in hair heaven.

They're also PERFECT for a student budget.

The creamy conditioner coats your locks to leave them strong and healthy. An added bonus is both the shampoo and conditioner smell incredibly fruity.

You get a lot for your buck here as their haircare line is extensive and affordable.

8. Purifying Body Ritual Travel Set – Urban Veda

Our jobs and plans to travel the world means that we have to make selective choices about the cosmetics we pop into our suitcase.

Whether you're taking a car, plane or train, this travel set will be one you shouldn't leave the house without.

Parabens are banished from this range, so they respect and work gently incoordination with your skin.

If that wasn't enough, it does a solid for the environment by being 100% recyclable!

It's a win-win.

9. Stay Matte & Beautiful Brush Collection, 5 Piece Set – Eco-tools

A sister duo founded Eco-tools with the mission to make us feel beautiful inside and out.

A staple in my makeup bag, this is a brand to get behind.

They're environmentally friendly, high-quality, and affordable too.

The range uses only recycled materials, renewable bamboo and a high standard of manufacturing processes.

Their care and attention are very much reflected in their products.

The brushes are soft, long-lasting with such a smooth application you'll be feeling like a MUA.

10. Instant Lift Brow Pencil – E.L.F

It's hard to imagine the time when big brows weren't in.

We only have our cringe-worthy photos as evidence of the crimes committed against our eyebrows.

This instant lift brow pencil comes in three shades and it's a hot favourite amongst E.L.F lovers.

E.L.F has listened to our cries for good quality makeup at affordable prices.

They're so good that it's almost hard not to get carried away with buying EVERYTHING.

11. Huangjisoo Pure Foaming Cleanser Deep Cleansing (Peppermint) –  The Konjac Sponge Co

To complete our listicle is the Konjac Sponge company.

They know how to look after your skin by taking Korean beauty secrets and applying them to their skincare line.

The deep cleanser combines peppermint, cucumber and chrysanthemum extracts which calms, expels dirt and refines the skin.

You'll be given a healthy gorgeous glow every time you go to take off your makeup, thanks to this incredible product.

It's hypoallergenic and made with 98 percent of natural ingredients, so even those with the most complex and sensitive skin can enjoy this cleanser.

Irish Water have appealed to the public to conserve water as restrictions and outages have been experienced by households nationwide.

As the temperatures continue to soar, the water network is increasing put under pressure.

Irish Water have warned that we could face long-term water restrictions if the dry conditions continue into the autumn.

If necessary, the water network is also looking at plausible legal routes to enforce measures such as hosepipe bans, to preserve the supply.

Commenting on the situation, Corporate Affairs Manager of Irish Water, Kate Gannon, said:

"We have a long way to go. If the drought is prolonged, water restrictions would become unavoidable if demand does not continue to drop. Irish Water are appealing to the public to continue to be mindful of their water usage."

Water restrictions or outages have affected more than 100 supplies all over the country, and particularly in areas such as Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, Kerry and Waterford.

Demands in the greater Dublin area have exceeded the supply Irish Water can safely provide, as the pressure mounts for the resource in both urban and rural areas

“If demand does not decrease we will start to see homes and businesses on the edge of the network in the Greater Dublin Area experience shortages, as happened in Skerries in recent weeks. The longer this continues, the more people will be at risk of shortages and outages,” said Ms Gannon.

Rivers and lakes have significantly dropped in light of the heatwave, as demand for water usage only continues to grow.

Everyone can play their part in the conservation of the resource, as Ms Gannon added:

"This is a very serious situation…every effort the public make to conserve water will benefit them and their community."

Irish Water has rolled out a comprehensive guide on how to efficiently reduce your daily water use.

Summer is the perfect time to drag yourself out of a reading slump. I know how easy it is to give up on the book you’re reading and waste hours away watching Netflix. There have been many times when I’m curled up on my bed, with an episode of Queer Eye playing on my laptop, when all of a sudden I spot the abandoned book at the end of my bed.

I am the biggest bookworm, but I have to admit there have been days where I toss my book aside so I can binge watch a new medical drama or re-watch Gossip Girl for the thousandth time. However, my latest read has dragged me out of that lazy reading slump.

I picked up a copy of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society from my local charity shop for a mere €1. I’ve heard wonderful things about the historical novel, and once I discovered that it was an epistolary novel I knew it was going to be such an enjoyable read.

An epistolary novel is written as a series of documents, most commonly letters, which makes the reading experience that little bit easier as it feels more personal.

The story is set during 1946 where we meet Juliet Ashton, an accomplished writer. In the past, the writer has penned a book full of comedic columns that she wrote during the second world war under the pseudonym, Izzy Bickerstaff.

Juliet realises that it’s time to write a story under her own name and her creativity sparks when she receives a random letter from Dawsey Adams, a member of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which began as a cover for residents who broke curfew during the German occupation of Guernsey.

Juliet realises that this is a story the world needs to know and starts writing to the rest of the society.

After exchanging letters with the society for some time, Juliet decides to head to Guernsey to conduct research for her book, but her life will change drastically when she steps foot on Guernsey.

What you’ll love the most about this book is how the characters feel like old friends. The authors reveal so much about everyone in the novel in a subtle but powerful way.

Plus, the book is packed with information about World War II so history buffs will love it. There are times when details about the occupation of Guernsey can be a tad overwhelming, but they only add to the story.

The characters, the plot and the style of the book are a joy, but what really gets you is the lesson it teaches you.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society teaches us about the importance of standing up for others no matter what.

One character, in particular, Elizabeth McKenna, will show you that loyalty means everything, especially in times of distress. She showed me that you should never let anything or anyone strip you of your character, even in the darkest and most dangerous circumstances.

The top ten most dangerous countries for women in the world has been released, and we're not surprised.

According to a survey commissioned by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, India is currently the worst place in the world for women, followed by war-torn countries Afghanistan and Syria.

The United States also makes the list in tenth place.

The poll was conducted around was conducted experts from Europe, Africa, the Americas, South East Asia, South Asia and the Pacific between March and May of this year. Respondents included aid professionals, academics, healthcare staff, non-government organisation workers, policy-makers, development specialists and social commentators.

The inclusion of the US on the list came as a surprise to some in the wake of the Me Too and Time's Up movements.

"People want to think income means you're protected from misogyny, and sadly that's not the case," said Cindy Southworth, executive vice president of the Washington-based National Network to End Domestic Violence.

"We are going to look back and see this as a very powerful tipping point … We're blowing the lid off and saying '#Metoo and Time's Up'."

India ranked in first place due to the risks that women face from cultural and traditional practices, such as acid attacks, female genital mutilation, physical abuse and child marriage. However, this only seems to be worsening as the rate of reported crimes against women rose by 83 per cent between 2007 and 2016, with a sickening four cases of rape reported every hour.

India has made international headlines this year with a number of high-profile sexual assault cases. Earlier this year, eight men were accused of the gang rape of an eight-year-old girl and in April, a seven-year-old girl was raped and murdered during a wedding.

Protests saw thousands take to the streets in wake of the death of a 16-year-old girl, who was raped and burnt alive in her home.

"India has shown utter disregard and disrespect for women … rape, marital rapes, sexual assault and harassment, female infanticide has gone unabated," Manjunath Gangadhara, an official at the Karnataka state government told Reuters.

"The (world's) fastest growing economy and leader in space and technology is shamed for violence committed against women."

India was also ranked the most dangerous country for women for human trafficking, including sex slavery and domestic servitude, as well as for traditional practices such as forced marriage, stoning and female infanticide.

The list also included Somalia, Saudi Arabia,  Pakistan, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Yemen and Nigeria.

Don't think for a minute that we are going to complain about this heatwave.

The weather is absolutely glorious, we get to wear all the summer clothes we usually only get to put on during our summer holidays (away from Ireland it is) and we are actually starting to get a tan (a real one).

While a cold beer is definitely our beverage of choice at the moment, food wise, all we really want to eat is a tasty ice pop. Good thing is, they are super easy to make, and if you don't go crazy on the sugar, they are usually quite healthy!

Try some of the recipes below, they will make for a delicious frozen snack!

1. Mexican ice pops

2. Blackberry cheesecake popsicles

3. Kiwi lime ice pops

4. Fresh fruit ice pops

5. Golden milk popsicles

6. Banana chocolate ice pops

While the glorious weather is definitely having a positive impact on our moods, the same can not be said for our water levels.

The heatwave and continuous sunshine has caused our reservoir levels to deplete, and Irish Water is urging everyone to conserve water at home.

There are already restrictions in place for around 10,000 homes nationwide, and now the Greater Dublin Area is facing outages as demand exceeds supply.

"Our operational teams are meeting on the ground at the moment, and they are looking at all available options such as reconfiguring the network and looking at different ways to supply people," Kate Gannon from Irish Water said.

"However, with the existing excessive demand, we are looking at a significant increase in the risk of restrictions and outages in the coming days unless things change."

Irish Water took to Twitter to highlight the number of restrictions currently in place.

Describing the situation as "critical",  Irish Water are asking the public for their help on this matter.

Dubbed ''Bardi shower: A Bronx Fairytale'', Cardi B's baby shower took place in serious style last night in Atlanta.

Rather than a demure tea-and-cupcakes affair, the hip-hop star instead chose to celebrate with a full-on late-night bash. And why not?!

Cardi's New York hometown of Bodega was referenced throughout the party, which can be seen in the videos that her husband Offset captured.

Guests gorged on cupcakes as well as a massive floral cake, which can be seen in the Instagram snaps.

The 25 year old hip-hop star, who is expecting a baby girl, is reportedly due to give birth in July.

She had previously told Rolling Stone  what her dream baby shower would be like.

"I want a lit baby shower. My baby shower's not starting at no 5:00," she said.

"My sh*t is going to start at 9 p.m. because that's how I celebrate, that's how Caribbean people celebrate," she said.

"I don't like baby showers that be at 5 p.m. in the backyard, eating, cooking hors d'oeuvres."

Cardi herself stuck to the colour scheme of the shower by choosing a baby pink sleeveless bodycon dress complete with her typical bling – chandelier earrings a huge layered necklace.

There was also a dance floor and a library filled with baby books, according to Harpers Bazaar.

Cardi B recently revealed on Twitter that she had married her boyfriend Offset in September 2017 in their bedroom.

''One morning in September we woke up and decided to get married. We found someone to marry us, and she did, just the two of us and my cousin. I said I do, with no dress no make up and no ring!''

If the secret wedding is anything to go by, they might keep the news of the birth private for a while too. Wishing you all the best, Cardi!
