All women, everywhere are in possession of one – but it seems that a lot of us actually struggle when it comes to saying the word: 'vagina'.

In contrast to male genitalia, of which there are numerous throwaway phrases, women also feel uncomfortable coming up with an 'acceptable' reference for their sex organs.

Even the word 'penis,' somehow seems far more ordinary and everyday.

According to a survey of 1,000 women and released this week by Ovarian Cancer Action, two-thirds of those aged 18 to 24 would be too embarrassed to even use the word vagina at their doctor’s office.

Which is in contrast to older ladies over the age of 65: just one in ten in that age bracket reported the same thing.

More than half of younger women – 57 percent – would also rather just Google their symptoms than visit their GP to talk about vaginas and vulvas.

Ovarian Cancer Action, a British charity, did the survey to encourage younger women to speak up about their gynecological health.

In Ireland, ovarian cancer is the fourth most common strain affecting women: more than 300 new cases are diagnosed annually.

Although relatively rare, some of us carry a genetic mutation that makes us more susceptible to developing the disease.

Angelina Jolie earlier this year revealed that she had undergone preventative surgery – having her ovaries and breasts removed – because she was a high-risk candidate.

Rumours have been circulating for the last two days – but the reality TV star herself has remained tight-lipped on whether she's about to become a parent for the first time.

Not so now – former Towie cast member Sam Faiers has just take to Instagram to confirm the happy news.

Congratulations!

Posting an adorable snap alongside her property developer boyfriend of ten months, Paul Knightley, she kept the caption simple, using a baby emoji alongside a heart.

A source had told The Mirror on Friday that Sam was three months along and had already shared her news with delighted family and friends. She is believed to be due sometime in the early spring.

And while Paul and Ms Faiers haven't been together for all that long, they've already expressed their interest in starting a family.

Speaking about their relationship to OK! magazine recently Paul said: “I’ve never felt this way about a girl before. It’s hit me hard.”

In the same interview Sam added: “We talk about kids more than we do marriage, but as couple we want the whole package.”

Fans were quick to show their support this evening; on her Instagram account one user stated excitedly: "She's pregnant!! Omg." Meanwhile, another said in block-capitals: "CONGRATULATIONSS."

And a third and fourth respectively declared: "They're having a baby Na!!!!!!" and, "Congratulations Sam! You both will be amazing parents."

He, of course, beat Chad Mendes last month in Las Vegas in a nail-biting fight that had millions glued to their screens.

Next up for Conor McGregor is Jose Aldo – in the city's MGM Grand Garden Arena, in December.

And while the Dubliner has a packed training schedule, he's also enjoying a little down time in Sin City, making club appearances that delight his many fans.

Last night, however, was strictly about kicking-back and having fun: he was spotted in Vegas's famed 1 OAK venue, a favourite of celebrities and sports stars.

The club took to Instagram this evening to share news and a snap of Conor: "UFC champ Conor McGregor ended up at 1 OAK last night," it said in an accompanying caption.

It is not known whether his long-term girlfriend, Walkinstown-native Dee Devlin, 28, accompanied the 27-year-old.

Among those to regularly frequent the Las Vegas Boulevard venue are Kim Kardashian, Ciara, Chris Brown, Pitbull, and Katy Perry.

Scott Disick is furthermore a big fan; he's also paid five-figure fees to hang-out at there. Though most recently, he was forced to cancel a much-hyped appearance shortly after his July breakup with Kourtney Kardashian.

Conor also does club appearances in the city: following his win against Mr Mendes, he was signed up to do a pool-party at the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.

However, Crumlin-boy Conor, who spent time on the dole queue before he found fame, says he'll never "forget the struggles".

"I never forget where I came from. I never ever forget the hard times,” he has explained.

“I pinch myself because I am surrounded by luxury. But make no mistake – it’s luxury built on sacrifice.”

He and Dee often celebrate his milestone wins with OTT Las Vegas shopping sprees, and he also recently splashed out on matching  his 'n' hers Audemars Piguet diamond-encrusted watches, each costing between €30,000 to €50,000, for him and his girlfriend.

Speaking to the Guardian after his win over Chad Mendes, he admitted: “We went shopping for ten hours straight yesterday.

"I got us a limo and we stuffed it with shopping bags so it was a great day and then we had a great night."

It's the ultimate household convenience item: in fact, cling film is found in just about every kitchen.

That's because whether you're wrapping up sambos for your lunch, or keeping leftovers in the fridge for the following day – it's pretty much requisite.

And while for years, health-gurus have warned that the plastic wrap can't be good for us – it seems now there's some significant weight to their argument: two major reports have in the last year have linked it to health problems relating to cancers, fertility and foetal development.

Even the globally influential Cancer Research UK, which has so far been sceptical, is warning that cling film should not be allowed to touch the food it is covering during microwaving.

And it's not the only everyday product under scrutiny either.

That's because Bisphenol A (BPA), which is the thing causing so much worry, is widely used in plastics manufacturing. And in the human body, it mimics the effects of female sex hormone, oestrogen.

Such is the concern that as of January 1 of this year, France banned the use of BPA in all food packaging.

Prof Andrea Gore of the University Of Austin in the US, who has studied the effects of chemicals on reproductive function, has warned: "I heat food only in glass or ceramic, and although I use cling film in my fridge to cover cooked food, I remove it before reheating that food in the microwave."

So, what should we be cautious of?

1) Transporting your lunch in Tupperware

Many reusable plastic food containers – including Tupperware – are also made with BPA. So popping your pasta snack into a lunchbox just got somewhat sinister.

Old containers that are showing signs of wear and tear are particularly suspect, as they are the most likely to be unstable and prone to releasing BPA into food.

Your best bet? Replace the lunch-boxes regularly and use cardboard containers or paper bags whenever possible.

2) Reusing plastic bottles

No one likes buying a new bottles every time – and some folk have been known to keep an old bottle of Ballygowen going for weeks, but it's probably best avoided.

Brand new bottles are fine, but as the plastic decays, particles of the BPA can be released into drink or food that touches it.

Switching to glass or lightweight metal sports bottles is a good alternative for those who don't want the waste of buying multiple bottles of water.

3) Heating up cling film

Even Cancer Research UK now says that you shouldn't allow cling wrap to come into direct contact with food when heating it.

That's because heating food covered with plastic can melt the plastic on to the food.

And of particular concern is cling film made from PVC, which contains hormone-disrupting phthalates, a chemical that keeps plastic soft. PVC cling film has been banned in America, but it is still in use in Europe.

A top tip? If you’re heating a plate in the microwave, just cover it with another plate or a chemical-free kitchen roll.

4) Using the dishwasher

Microwaves aren't the only potential source of heat, of course: sticking plastic cutlery, storage containers or bottles into the dishwasher can have the same effect. Heat, from any source, will cause the plastic to become less stable and make particles more likely to leech into food.

Incredibly, one study, published in Environmental Health Perspectives, showed that 95 per cent of plastic products put through a dishwasher proved positive for leaching chemicals that had an oestrogen-like effect on the body.

5) Eating or drinking from polystyrene

Styrene, a component of the likes of polystyrene cups, has been classified as a possible carcinogen by the US’s International Agency For Research On Cancer, and benzene, also used in production, is another suspected carcinogen.

So it's best to avoid it altogether. Opt for wooden disposable cutlery and paper rather than plastic straws too.

6) Having fizzy drinks

Make sure you stick to cans rather than bottles when it comes to soft and fizzy drinks: the latter might be packaged in bottles that contain formaldehyde, a known toxicant.

Indeed, it is potentially a carcinogen.

However, some scientists point out that formaldehyde is also found in low doses in some foods, including apples.

It was the movie franchise that captured our heart, minds – AND nurtured our pre-teen and teen musical aspirations.

But almost ten years after the release of the first High School Musical, the song which was the movie's very cornerstone – Breaking Free – has been largely forgotten by protagonist Zac Efron.

The actor famously played Troy Bolton opposite Vanessa Hudgens – who played Gabriella Montez – in the hugely successful franchise.

But while promoting his latest release, We Are Your Friends, alongside co-star Emily Ratajkowski and director Max Joseph, 27-year-old Zac had an interview with glossy magazine Cosmoploitan.

And during the course of the segment, he found himself at a loss when asked to identify Breaking Free.

"That's High School Musical. Oh wait… the name of the song?" he says lifting his hands to his face in thought. "The pressure's on – Soarin', Flying, is it?"

"No! Come on, Zac," the interviewer cries out in disgust.

"Take A Chance?" the actor next offers, before realising: "Breaking Free!"

Amid much jeering from Emily and Max, Mr Efron protests: "There's a lot – there's three movies of songs!"

Of course, in contrast, every self-respecting Disney fan can remember and recite the entire HSM soundtrack instantly.

We're going to assume this was all a momentary indiscretion, so we'll forgive Zac this one time.

She's know for stunts that demand attention – but reality TV star and teen bride Courtney Stodden really raised eyebrows this weekend.

Posing up in a skimpy bikini – hardly anything new – what the swim-wear was constructed from nevertheless proved to be a talking-point.

Taking a roll of purple duct tape, the model made underwear from the DIY stable – telling her fans that they could even buy signed items on her website for €8.75.

"Tear off a piece of Courtney with this signed roll of her famed purple Duct Tape!" the website reads, adding that fans could try to make their own bikini, or "maybe a dress!"

However, it also comes with a warning: "Please be caution when using Duct Tape to construct your art. This is NOT a toy & NOT for children. Use at your own risk."

She furthermore shared captivating images via her Twitter account.

Ms Stodden made international headlines when, at the age of 16, she married 51-year-old Hollywood actor Doug Hutchison in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas.

Now aged 20 – and still with Doug despite several temporary break-ups along the way – the TV personality has overhauled her appearance.

Indeed, she is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe's style and appearance and often models her look on the screen icon.

Shortly after her marriage, the reality TV contestant denied that she'd had plastic surgery – insisting that she was entirely natural.

However, two years ago at the age of 18 she decided on a breast augmentation to further boost her bust.

Eventually opting for a DD cup – a significant increase given her petite height (she's 5ft 4in) and slight frame – her husband fully supported her decision.

She and Doug actually split after just two years of marriage, with Courtney reporting that she wanted to "experience other men," but they reconciled last year and have said that they plan to renew their vows shortly.

Apparently, she's been inundated with offers of lucrative reality TV slots and highly-paid tell-all interviews

And while there's no word yet on what Christine Ouzounian's next move is, it seems the former nanny of Ben Affleck and 44-year-old Jennifer Garner has a €900,000 pay-cheque in the offing – if she fancies turning to porn.

Yes, the 28-year-old – who is rumoured to have had an affair with 43-year-old Hollywood superstar Ben – has a parody XXX Batwoman role with her name on it.

Mr Affleck, of course, is the next Batman, with his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being released next year.

TMZ says it has exclusively learned that porn parody producer and director Axel Braun is offering Christine $1million (€880,000) to to play the female caped crusader: she'd have to act for two weeks and do three sex scenes.

There is as yet no word on whether Christine is interested in more risque projects, but she's reportedly chasing fame anyway,

According to PageSix, the young woman is certainly hoping her newfound notoriety will make her a household name.

Earlier this month, the same site revealed she's looking for a Hollywood agent and has her sights firmly set on getting a high-profile reality TV show.

The goal is to be cast on The Bachelorette or Dancing With The Stars, it was claimed – and she wants to make sure she secures a six-figure fee at the same time.

They move away straight after their Leaving Cert; embark on an Erasmus year during college, or pursue their career on foreign shores – whatever the reason, it’s likely that at least a few of your closest mates are currently living in a country that isn’t Ireland.

And, as yet, there's no sign of them returning.

Overall, you can cope with keeping up with most of them on Facebook and having a decent catch-up in the pub at Christmas.

However, there is a particular type of heartache and sorrow that comes with the absence of your BFF.

They announce, through tears, that they’re leaving you. Still, it’s only when they’ve actually departed AND given you their new – foreign – mobile number that you finally accept they’re actually gone.

Not that a true friendship has to fizzle out simply because you live in different countries: life-long buddies transcend time-zones, continents and a lack of daily hugs.

Here, SHEmazing! rounds up the eight signs that your long-distance BFF relationship is the real-deal…

1) You still WhatsApp and SnapChat as often as ever:

Obviously, you spend hours on Skype – you nattering away at 1am; her stuffing a bowl of cereal into her mouth before work. But day-to-day, you still WhatsApp and SnapChat every random musing, every annoyance, and every little thing you spot that you know they’ll love.

Same goes for outfit approval before an event or advice on what to do with a guy: if you’re unsure, they’re still your go-to.

2) You’re a time-zone expert:

You know precisely what time it is in San Diego, Moscow, Nairobi, Hong Kong or Perth. You know their timetable pretty much exactly too – and, more importantly, how your schedule fits into it. In fact, you have your respective free-time slots, lunch-breaks, and weekends rostered to tee.

3) They’re your go-to TBT stable:

Your Debs, Sixth Year holiday, graduation ball or simply a great memory created together: when it comes to #tbt, you’d never consider anyone else.

4) You send each other care-packages:

Sure, technology and social media means you’re rarely out of touch – but there’s something so special about receiving a postcard or parcel through the letterbox. That and you never get anything in the post from anyone else.

For birthdays and special occasions, you put together a mean care package too: a haul of vests and accessories from Penneys, Tayto crisps, their favourite fake tan and teabags.

5) You know you shouldn’t, but you kinda hope they lose their job/their visa isn’t renewed:

You’d obviously never say it out loud, but when they’re stressed about securing a visa for another year, or finding work, you secretly hope they’re unsuccessful and they’ll have to come home after all.

6) You still know all each other’s secrets:

They might be thousands of kilometres away and you may not have seen them in months, but you still know everything about them – and you still share everything with them.

7) When you see them, it’s like they never left:

They’re back at Christmas or for their brother’s wedding, and you’ve both spent weeks and weeks counting down to your reunion. You’re nervous and excited at the same time beforehand – and within ten minutes you’re right back at where you left off.

8) As envious you are of their lifestyle, you know they really miss home:

Another day at the beach; another day-trip to somewhere incredible. Not to mention that their weeks off are spent exploring some incredible neighbouring countries and territories.

In fact, on a miserable Irish January evening, it’s easy to think, “I really wish that was me.” However, much as your life can seem a bit mundane by comparison, you know that when they see you tucking into a proper Sunday roast (as made by mammy) and enjoying cheeky afternoon pints with your mates, they’d love to be there too.

"Cloudy today with outbreaks of rain, heavy in bursts, across Leinster, Connacht and Ulster, with accumulations leading to local spot flooding, especially in Ulster…" that's what Met Eireann has to say about today – after a gloriously sunny Friday got everyone's hopes up for a cracker of a weekend.

And most folk will indeed be right now looking out at rainy, cloudy skies.

Met Eireann has already issued a weather warning, which will stay in effect until 6pm.

And forecaster Pat Clarke has warned us to expect thunder and plenty of downpours: "Friday was pretty warm and was around 22C in some places, but that won't be repeated again over the weekend."

He added that a spell of very heavy rain has already moved across the Irish Sea from Britain, and has now spread across the country.

"For a lot of the country, it's a fairly wet day," Pat explained, although he did say that "it might pick up in the north-east of the country" this afternoon.

She’s been on the British throne for more than 60 years – making her one of the world’s most prolific monarchs.

Indeed, Queen Elizabeth II’s extensive reign will shortly overtake that of her great-great grandmother’s, Queen Victoria, as the longest ever completed by a British king or queen.

To mark the historical occasion, a new biography, written by politician Lord Douglas Hurd, has been released. And in the preface for Elizabeth II: The Steadfast, Prince William opens up about his 89-year-old granny.

Saying that she is a “great source of pride and reassurance,” he adds: "Time and again, quietly and modestly, The Queen has shown us all that we can confidently embrace the future without compromising the things that are important.

"From a personal point of view, I am privileged to witness the private side of The Queen, as a grandmother and great-grandmother.”

Wills, who has been married to Duchess Kate for four-and-half years, also reveals that the monarch is funny and loves her family.

“The Queen's kindness and sense of humour, her innate sense of calm and perspective, and her love of family and home are all attributes I experience first-hand."

William goes on to pay tribute to Prince Philip, who is now 94. He and Elizabeth have been married since 1947 and the Duke says his grandfather "devoted his life" to supporting the monarch.

The second-in-line to the British throne adds: "All of us who will inherit the legacy of my grandmother's reign and generation need to do all we can to celebrate and learn from her story."

Earlier this week, it was revealed that despite rumour to the contrary, the Queen is a big fan of the former Kate Middleton, now the Duchess Of Cambridge.

“She thoroughly approves of the Duchess Of Cambridge and doesn’t give a fig for her being from an ordinary, middle-class background,” the author of The Queen's Speech, Ingrid Seward, wrote.

Together, the Cambridges have two children: a toddler son, George, and baby Charlotte.

A teenager fell two-and-a-half metres from a three-storey building in Cork at 2.30am yesterday – and now has suspected serious spinal injuries.

Ciara O’Brien was on a night-out with her friends at the newly-opened The Moorings venue in Kinsale; a beach-themed bash was being held to mark the end of summer.

Following the incident, the 18-year-old was taken to Cork University Hospital, but has now been airlifted to the specialist spinal injuries unit at the Mater in Dublin.

Ciara had only recently celebrated her Debs and sat her Leaving Cert at Kinsale Community School. Friends told the Irish Sun that they and her family are “devastated and shocked” by what happened.

The full extend of her injuries is still being accessed by doctors in Dublin.

Kinsale Cllr Kevin Murphy, who knows the family, also told the Irish Sun: “It’s a terrible shock for all her relatives.

“You don’t expect such a dreadful thing to happen when a young girl is out socialising.

“The family are devastated and are praying she’ll make a full recovery.

“We don’t know the extent of her injuries, we’ll find that out over the coming days.

“They don’t know how bad it is yet.

“She is a gorgeous young girl. Her family are the nicest people you could ever meet — they are salt of the earth.

“It’s very upsetting for the whole Kinsale area. The family are very well-known in the locality and all our thoughts are with them.”

Gardai have now launched an investigation and a garda spokesman has confirmed: “An 18-year-old girl fell from the flat roof of a licenced premises on Market Street in Kinsale early on Saturday.

“She was taken to Cork University Hospital and was subsequently transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.”

The Moorings nightclub only reopened last month under new ownership.

Business continued as normal at the venue last night with the second of their beach-themed bashes taking place as planned.

Declan Ryan of The Moorings last night explained to the Sunday World: “It was simply just a freak accident,” adding: “It was just an accident. She fell about 8 foot [2.5metres] from the side of the building.

"It wasn’t in the club it was beside it.”

He also said that he had met with Gardai and that all the staff at the venue were “hoping and praying she will be OK”.

We’re used to seeing her look SERIOUSLY glam: in fact, millions of fans around the world regularly copy Kylie Jenner’s make-up look and techniques.

But it seems the 18-year-old reality TV star isn’t so eager to pose for the cameras without her slap on.

Sporting a fresh-faced and unusually natural look, she was off on a cinema date with her rapper beau, Tyga, in Calabasas yesterday.

And when a load of cameras turned up to document their afternoon, Kylie was less than pleased.

Wearing Celine sunglasses, her (of course) Yeezy Boosts, Chanel backpack, American Apparel black leggings and an Adidas Originals jacket, the teenager was certainly dressed down and casual.

But it was her lack of makeup that seemingly caused her most distress: upon spotting the lenses, she quickly held her Chanel backpack up to her face in order to hide her barefaced look.

We actually reckon that Ms Jenner looks very pretty – and much younger – with clean skin, but it’s also unlikely that she’ll be embracing more au natural vibes anytime soon.
