Angelina Jolie

It's been a long time coming, but Marvel have finally unleashed the second phase of the MCU and it's diverse AS F*CK. We're in heaven.

One of the best snippets of superhero news we've heard from Comic Con (apart from Natalie Portman as female Thor, that slayed us) is the first openly LGBTQ+ hero arriving to the party.

Fan-fave character Valkyrie, played by the incredible Tessa Thompson, will have an LGBTQ+ storyline in the fourth Thor movie, due out November 2021.

The character is bisexual in the comics, and was portrayed by the actress in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame.

Thor: Love and Thunder will feature Chris Hemsworth as the titular character, Natalie Portman slaying as his female equal and now Tessa as Valkyrie. Wow.

Appearing at Marvel Studios' Comic-Con panel in Hall H over the weekend, Thompson announced to the audience:

"As new king, she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business. She has some ideas. I'll keep you posted."

When asked whether Valkyrie will have an LGBTQ+ storyline, MCU boss Kevin Feige told io9: "The answer is yes.

"How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4."

Feige added to Collider that Marvel fans will also be treated to an LGBTQ+ character in The Eternals as well: Long may it reign.

Marvel has come under fire for its lack of LGBTQ+ representation in recent years, with Feige promising work on developing this hole in the franchise:

"We have both ones you've seen and ones you haven't seen," he said.

A deaf woman-of-colour, Lauren Ridloff, was also cast in The Eternals, alongside Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie.

The next Captain America (Falcon) is now a black man, a woman will play Thor, Mahershala Ali is starring in the Blade reboot and an Asian-Canadian newcomer Simu Liu snagged his role as Shang-Chi by literally annoying Marvel on Twitter.

Black Panther 2 is also in the works, and hilarious actress/comedian Awkwafina will join Simu Liu in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Much diversity, many feels. Thank Goddess they came to their senses and decided to include people, now we need women and people of colour, as well as people with disabilities in the writing room and director's seats.

Many fans are pointing out that the billion-dollar company waited until it was convenient and profitable for them to bring diversity to the table, but we just have to be grateful they finally stepped up.

Avengers: Endgame has just become the best-selling movie of all time, beating out Avatar in the box office.

Brad Pitt has landed himself in hot water after accidentally insinuating that his marriage to Jennifer Aniston was boring. Ouch.

The actor was forced to majorly backtrack after an interview with Parade magazine back in 2011 resurfaced, and used the word 'dull' to describe his life back then.

The 55-year-old Hollywood actor has since retracted his words and clarified his intentions, but it doesn't sound good…We'd be pretty p*ssed off if we were Jen.

He also seemed to imply that his life became far more spontaneous and exciting after meeting the woman he left Aniston for- Angelina Jolie.

"I spent the '90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic."

"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself," he continued.

Now that's all well and good, but then he made a highly polarising comment, and angered Jen's fans in the process;

"I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

Brad even released a statement to defend his words, saying; "It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend."

"It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself, and that, I am responsible for."

The couple dated in the 1990s and wed in 2000. Brad later began a romance with Angelina, after meeting her on the Mr and Mrs Smith set in 2005.

They share six kids and were eventually married in 2014, but their marriage broke down in 2016. Oh Brad.

Holy Moly.

In case any of y'all have been residing under a prominently sized ROCK, you'll be aware of the drama llama surrounding Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's much-publicised divorce.

The pair haven't been seen each other's company since they announced their break-up back in September 2016, but yesterday they were sighted together inside of a Los Angeles office.

Don't bother speculating about if they're reconciling, that ship has long sailed. She's across many oceans by now. The duo were simply hammering out remaining deets of their divorce.

The exes have six gorgeous children together; 17-year-old Pax, 14-year-old Maddox, 13-year-old Zahara, 12-year-old Shiloh and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

How do they keep track of them all? It's a mystery to us. It's reported that the two are still trying to figure out their bitter divorce, but they've reached a final agreement over the custody of their six kids following over two years of negotiations.

Jolie's lawyer, Samantha Bley DeJean, confirmed that the former Hollywood 'It Couple' have signed and closed the lengthy legal battle, which means there won't be a need to go to trial.

Samantha shared a statement to Reuters in December, writing;

"A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge. The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial."

It is assumed that Brad has been given increased access to his children, and will be allowed to see them more frequently, including every other day for four hours on school days and 12 hours on a non-school day.

One publication claims things got a bit heated between the pair, with Brad was reportedly pacing back and forth outside the office, while Angelina looking “visibly upset,” according to The Blast.

Brad and Angelina have struggled to see eye-to-eye since ending their relationship, and for more than a year after the split, Angelina had primary custody of the children.

Last year, a judge ordered Brad to be allowed more time with the children for their benefit.

There were reports of alcohol abuse from the actor but no evidence was provided. The former couple met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005 and were inseparable ever since, until their official split two years ago.

The Sun reported over the weekend something so SCANDALOUS, that we can barely utter the words. Don't worry, we'll manage.

They claimed that Hollywood A-listers Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron were the new power couple of 2019, and people damn near lost their minds;

“They have been casually seeing each other for nearly a month now," a source close to the alleged couple said. "They’ve been friends for some time—ironically through Sean Penn, Theron's ex—but things have developed.”

However, now People and Entertainment Tonight have published reports with new details stating that Theron and Pitt were always just friends, and we're more than a tad disappointed.

According to People;

"The two “did a shoot together six months ago for Breitling watches. They have not been out together recently, and were never dating. Reports of them being involved romantically are false,” the source alleges.

It would be truly spicy if the unnaturally attractive duo became more than just friends, we must admit. But no pressure, of course.

The pair modelled together for the famous watch brand together and sparks were a-FLYIN'…

Entertainment Tonight's source was much more open to the possibility of something romantic happening later down the line, but sadly not for the moment;

"Brad and Charlize have known each other for years and recently became even better friends after working together [on the Breitling watches shoot]," its source said. "They enjoy each other's company and connect on many levels."

"Brad and Charlize have a lot of mutual friends and share their love of acting, but neither of them are ready for a serious relationship right now. They are both very single at the moment so it's no surprise people are talking romance," the insider added.

The rumour mill is swirling about a possible new Cleopatra movie, but the internet has already summoned up the inevitable backlash which comes with casting nowadays.

Cleopatra has featured in over TWENTY movies, tv shows and animations, and has been portrayed previously by Hollywood queen Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh and Claudette Colbert.

Allegedly, a new biopic about the Egyptian ruler is in the works from Sony, with Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie as frontrunners to be considered for the role.

Elizabeth Taylor infamously played the role, and also popularised kohl eyeliner and black wigs in the meantime. Vivien Leigh and Claudette Colbert also had their chance to play her back in the day.

However, there's a serious debate over Cleopatra's ethnicity, with some Twitter users claiming a black or ethnically diverse actress deserves the chance to play the character.

Others argue that Cleopatra was of Greek and Macedonian descent, which technically means she was Caucasian… so Twitter is pretty divided to say the least.

Complex starring roles for women are still far and few between in Hollywood, meaning that this role is the chance of a lifetime for an actress.

Twitter debate about Cleopatra began as a Lady Gaga vs Angelina battle, but it was soon asked whether a white woman should play her at all.

IMDb list the new biopic as in production, with Angelina Jolie being considered since back in 2014, but Lady Gaga's newfound Hollywood fame resulted in her name being suggested.

Social media users are now mentioning women of colour in a bid to give them a deserved chance, including big names such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Priyanka Chopra, Jameela Jamil and Jennifer Lopez.

Hollywood's lengthy history of shutting out actresses and actors of colour from contention has proven problematic, I mean did anyone see Prince of Persia? Jake Gyllenhaal, you should have known better.

According to Vox, in 2009 archaeologists discovered the remains of a woman they're convinced is Princess Arsinoe, who was Cleopatra’s sister. Her remains indicated that her mother was African.

Egyptologist Sally Ann Ashton created a 3D computer animated image of Cleopatra as a brown-skinned woman using forensics.

According to Ashton: “She probably wasn’t just completely European. You’ve got to remember that her family had actually lived in Egypt for 300 years by the time she came to power.”

No one has fully confirmed her ethnicity, with some researchers maintaining that she was pure-blooded Macedonian, and others disagreeing.

Whatever her ethnicity is, maybe at least give diverse actresses an audition? Bit of equality in Hollywood never hurt anyone…

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been disputing custody of their children since their split in 2016.

And now that they have reached a wall, the two have decided that the best decision is to seek the help of the court.

According to documents obtained by E! News, their trial will begin at the start of next month and will hopefully settle the parent’s custody battle once and for all.

Starting on December 4, retired Judge John W. Odenkirk will work alongside them until the end of June 2019 to help them reach an agreement.

The private judge will also help them reach a property settlement, for the couple entered their marriage without a prenup, says TMZ.

The couple share six children together – Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and ten-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

Angelina filed for divorce over two years ago and is requesting full custody of the children.

Brad is requesting joint custody.

Unfortunately for the pair, the past two years have caused massive stress for both parties.

The Tomb Raider star spoke out after leaked legal documents about their divorce made headlines.

A judge encouraged the children to spend more time with their dad over this past summer, saying 'not having a relationship with their father is harmful to them'.

The mum responded saying that this leak misrepresented the situation, painting her in a bad light.

“From the start, Angelina has been focused only on their health and needs, which is why it was so important that this last court hearing be conducted privately,” said the actress’ representative.

Most recently she had to temporarily drop out of her role in the upcoming film Come Away due to the mass amounts of pressure from her divorce.

We hope the couple will be able to reach an agreement soon, finding a solution that makes both of them as well as their kids happy.

A private judge could be the perfect arrangement for the two.

It could allow them to keep their discussions private while heeding advice from an experienced mediator.

The entertainment industry was left reeling when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt parted ways in 2016.

After 12 years together, the press and public wasted no time speculating as to the catalyst for the separation.

Up until recently, both parties kept quiet on the subject, with Angelina only admitting in September that she's struggling in the aftermath of the high-profile divorce.

Indeed, it seems Angelina was doing everything in her power to save her marriage prior to the split, with the actress confirming she sought to work on set with Brad as some form of quick fix.

Referring to 2015's By The Sea, Angelina said she thought their craft would unite them, but it only highlighted their discontent.

"We had met working together and we worked together well," she told The Hollywood Reporter's podcast, Awards Chatter. "I wanted us to do some serious work together."

"I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate," she admitted before adding that in some respects it did help, but not in the ways she anticipated.

"In some ways it was, and in some ways we learned some things," she said. "But there was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on and it wasn't because of the film."

While suggesting that the film signalled the beginning of the end for the couple, Angelina expressed gratitude that they came to some form of realisation together.

"I'm glad we did that film because we did explore something together. Whatever it was maybe it didn't solve certain things, but we did communicate something that needed to be communicated to each other."

Yesterday, news landed that Brad Pitt had reached out to his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, in an effort to make amends for his behaviour during their marriage, and in the lead-up to their highly publicised divorce.

According to publications in the States, the exchange between the former couple was a highly emotive one, with Jennifer struggling to hide her emotion over the distress she felt when Brad called time on their relationship, and began a new one with co-star, Angelina Jolie.

Brad and Jennifer's intimate conversation happened to take place a year on from Brad's split with Angelina, and it doesn't seem like Brad is the only one doing some reflecting this week.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Angelina cast her mind over the last 12 months, and admitted that the outcome of her relationship with Brad was not something she anticipated, nor is single life something that sits easily with her.

The mother-of-six told the newspaper: "I don't enjoy being single. It's not something I wanted."

When news broke that Brad and Angelina had decided to part ways last September, the public focussed their attention on Jennifer Aniston's response to the saga while Angelina made a valiant attempt to fly under the radar.

Acknowledging that the divorce and the publicity that surrounded it made for a difficult period in her life, Angelina added: "There's nothing nice about it. It's just hard."

"Sometimes maybe it appears I am pulling it all together, but really I am just trying to get through my days," she admitted. "Emotionally it's been a very difficult year."

"It's not easy doing press right now. I can't pretend this isn't a tough time in my life, but I'm trying to get through it by just moving forward and knowing it's part of being human," she added.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shocked us all last year when they announced they were getting a divorce.

If you were following the split, then you'll know that things got very messy, very quickly, with claims of child abuse wavering around the media.

And now, the former couple have released a statement which explains why they have both decided to seal the court documents relating to their six children.

"The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.

"The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently in the midst of some pretty bitter divorce proceedings.

The latest development in the proceedings sees Brad slate Angelina for over sharing about the arrangements they have for co-parenting their children.

The Oscar winning actor has accused his soon to be ex wife of releasing sensitive details about their custody agreement to the media.

According to court documents acquired by People, Angelina "appears to be determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children’s best interest.”

Brad claims she “exposed the children by making public the names of their therapists and other mental health professionals.”

Brad has previously requested that court documents about their divorce be sealed and privatised, but his request was rejected.

The couple have six children together, and the publication of documents regarding their custody arrangements could compromise the kids privacy, according to Brad.

The pair reached a temporary custody agreement this month, with Angelina retaining custody and Brad having visitation rights.

Brad Pitt has made his first red carpet appearance since his former partner, Angelina Jolie, shockingly filed for divorce in September.

Yesterday evening, the 52-year-old star signed autographs for fans at the premiere of his new movie, Allied, before telling E! News that he was thankful for the support of his followers.

“It’s really sweet, everyone has been really kind out here,” said Brad.  “It’s really nice to have all the support.”

The actor’s comments came just hours after TMZ reported that he had been cleared of abuse allegations by the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.

Earlier this week, a rep for Brad’s ex, Angelina, confirmed that the former couple have reached a custody agreement for their six children.

The statement clarified that the Maleficent actress is currently the primary caregiver of Shiloh, Maddox, Zahara, Vivienne, Knox and Pax, who are continuing to attend therapeutic visits with their father.
