Conor McGregor has finally spoken out about the infamous pub incident where he punched an elderly man in April, admitting that he was "in the wrong".

The video recently emerged which showed the 31-year-old fighter punch a 50-year-old man in the Marble Arch pub, with the man involved labelling the former UFC two-weight champ a "bully with money".

In his first interview since the public have seen the video, the Dubliner has owned up to his wrongs and vowed to "do better".

"In reality, it doesn't matter what happened there. I was in the wrong," McGregor said in an interview with ESPN's Ariel Helwani. "That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without it having to end the way it did.

"Although, five months ago it was, and I tried to make amends and I made amends back then – it still, that doesn't even matter," he continued.

"I was in the wrong. I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility. I owe it to the people that have been supporting me. I owe it to my mother, my father, my family. I owe it to the people who trained me in martial arts."

"That's not who I am, that's not the reason why I got into martial arts or studying combat sports. The reason why I got into it was to defend against that type of scenario.

"To see that, although (it was) months ago and I have been making steps and continuously making steps to do better and be better – to see it is like a dagger into my heart as a young martial artist," he said.

"I'm just here to own up to that and move on, carry on and face what's coming." The video of the incident went viral, with the victim saying that he's glad McGregor's reputation has been negatively impacted.

The 50-year-old revealed to The Irish Daily Star: "I am sitting on the bar stool just having a quiet pint with my friend then all of a sudden because I refuse his drink I get a punch, you don't need that in life."

The shocking video shows the Crumlin thug holding his own brand of Proper No. Twelve whiskey in Drimnagh, putting glasses down on the bar for everyone.

"I didn't even notice McGregor coming into the pub but seemingly he was throwing shots around.

"He approached me from the left-hand side. I was ready to go. He said, 'will you have one of my whiskeys?' I said 'no'. I don't like whiskey. I'm a Guinness man. I put the glass up on (the counter)."

"He said 'no you will have it with me.' I said 'I don't want it'. I think I put it back up again. He obviously got aggravated that I had disrespected, and that's when he gave me the punch.

"My taxi arrived that I was after ordering. The taxi man came in and said to come outside. I put my jacket on and went outside with the taxi man, popped in the front and the next thing McGregor and his friend, I don't who he was I had never seen the chap before, hopped into the back of it," he added.

"I thought he was cheeky. His friend was just talking to the taxi man. I didn't talk to McGregor."

The man said the punch left its mark for a week with McGregor reportedly set to be charged for the incident.

"Look it, I can take a punch," he said."It was sore for about a week. It wasn't killing me or anything. I just don't want to make sure he doesn't do that to anyone else again, just taking him down a peg.

He added: "I don't like the man. I think he is getting a bad rep. He is a bit of a bully. A bully with money."

A fellow pub punter described the incident in detail, saying that the victim didn't leave his house for days afterwards.

“At the end of the day he doesn’t want an apology or any money, he just wants justice for what happened to him. He wouldn’t have been a fan of McGregor before all this and he most certainly isn’t now."

"The girls have scurvy, they're like vitamin deficient, they need some calcium tablets and some Camaraderie soap. Anyways, I'm back on the Chardonel (wine)." We Celts are just very pale, and can't do much about it unforch.

She enlisted the Notorious Conor McGregor for support, sharing a screenshot of a message, where she wrote; "Conor help they are bullying me".

Banks got into a massive row on Monday morning with a female cabin crew member, after boarding a flight from Gatwick to Dublin airport.

They have released a statement following the incident.

They said: "Aer Lingus can confirm that two guests scheduled to fly on 10:55am flight from London Gatwick to Dublin (EI233) this morning disembarked themselves prior to departure."

The Notorious has broken his silence in the wake of violent and ugly scenes in La Vegas after he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Conor went head to head with the Russian lightweight champion at UFC 229, with Khabib coming out victorious.

However after the fight, Khabib's pals launched an attack on Conor that resulted in violent scenes.

Now Conor has announced that he's set for a rematch, tweeting, ''good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.”

His coach John Kavanagh showed his support by retweeting the message and saying, 'another historical night. Amazing atmosphere, technical fight with excitement all the way thru. Shame about the ending. On to the next one.”

Khabib has offered his apologies for his part in instigating the fight following his defeat of Conor.

He said, ''first of all I want to say sorry to Nevada Athletic Commission and second to Vegas. I know this is not my best side. I’m a human being.''

He continued, ''this is a respectful sport, not a trash-talking sport. I want to change the game, you cannot talk about religion, about nationality.”

After this massive UFC event ended in tears and UFC President  Dana White was just as shocked and appalled by what went down as we were.

He revealed that Khabib's paycheck was being withheld by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and that three potential members of the fighter’s team had been arrested.

Dana would not confirm if Khabib would hold on to his 155lb crown.

He said, ''it's not 100% certain. We’re regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. They’re going to go after Khabib. The governor was here and he ran out of the building.''

Let's all watch this space…

Conor McGregor has had a bit of a rocky history with the press.

However, this time around – Conor's Twitter has blown up for all the right reasons.

The MMA star was a massive legend and helped a sick 5-year-old by donating €10,000.

The Irish boy is Bryan Buckley, known as Bru, received a Sepsis diagnosis last year, and is awaiting life-changing surgery.

Little Bru is unable to eat or walk and has an NG tube up his nose – something no child should experience.

His mum, Grainne worked tirelessly to raise funds for Bru's medical care, so she can "get private care and the help he deserves."

As of yesterday, the GoFundMe had managed to raise a little over €3,000.

However, the MMA fighter quickly changed that by donating the €10,000, which had been their original target.

Conor had given the money anonymously, but mum Grainne made sure to publicly thank the star for his generosity.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “We are forever grateful. I will never forget what you have done for my boy, you truly are a legend.”

Incredibly, their GoFundMe has now reached over €14,000, with donations still flooding in.

We are wishing Bryan the very best of luck with his surgery and we hope he gets better soon.

It seems that despite being a global superstar, Conor hasn't forgotten where he has come from.

Conor McGregor is undoubtedly a national treasure, thanks to his stellar career flying the Irish flag in MMA.

The Notorious one has accumulated 25 million followers on his Instagram thanks to his outlandish personal brand.

While many have a love/hate relationship with McGregor's lavish and balsy persona, brands clearly have no issue with it when it comes to having the MMA master represent their products.

According to Hopper's 2018 Instagram rich list, Conor McGregor comes in at number 8 on the list of most valuable social media sportsmen.

The fighting champ commands up to $125,000 per post on this page.

Hopper compiled the data of the richest social media personalities, and Conor comes in at number 16 on the influential list over all.

However, they did get one detail pretty darn wrong.

The list says that Conor is from the UK – a fake news fact we are sure the patriotic fighter would not be too impressed with.

Kylie Jenner topped the list as the most influential person on Instagram, commanding a cool one million dollars per sponsored post.

Conor McGregor is turning 30 soon, and a Lithuanian artist decided that the only way to mark the fighter's milestone birthday was to create a special sculpture.

And by special we mean a handcrafted, hyperrealistic, life-sized sculpture.

Edgar Askelovic, also known as Aspencrow, spent five months meticulously handcrafting the 100kg sculpture from photographs alone, using top quality platinum silicone and marble powder.

The Birmingham-based artist used eerily realistic, UV- resistant Polyurethane Resin to make the eyes and real hair for McGregor's trademark crop cut and beard.

The life-sized piece titled ATLAS is worth £50,000 and shows the UFC fighter bursting out of a block of marble. It will be gifted to the dad-of-one on his birthday and is part of an edition of three unique variations of the piece.

The two other sculptures will be sold by JD Malat Gallery, where it will be on view to the public as part of their summer exhibition from 14 July until 30 September.

“It is an honour that Conor has accepted this as a gift from me. He is a phenomenon of our time – not just a smart athlete, but also a visionary," Aspencrow said.

“To create the piece, I looked back to antiquity, when athletes were immortalised in sculptures as gods. And I combined some details from a Michelangelo statue with modern day graffiti to capture the present day's warrior sensibilities.

“People of our generation grew up on graffiti and hooliganism, so I’ve displayed part of his tattoos on his back in graffiti.

"I share his belief: 'Talent does not exist. This is hard work and obsession'."

The sculpture will be unveiled at Mayfair’s JD Malat Gallery on 14 July – the UFC legend’s 30th birthday.

“I am pleased to work with such a talented, young sculptor. He works alone and each new piece is a masterpiece, from the plinth to the hyperrealistic eyes," the gallery’s founder, dealer and curator, Jean-David Malat said.

And in fairness, it is pretty incredible!
