Oh yeah, it looked good in the music video, but when paired with a school uniform and boring shoes? Not so cool.

These are kind of coming back into fashion now, and we’re glad. Sure, they’re kind of an acquired taste, but they are just so comfortable. Thanks, MC!
Nirvana, and dirty jumpers
If you wanted to be a true grunger, you needed a jumper that looked like you found it in a grave, and some messy hair. You can thank Nirvana for this one (which, actually, is an ongoing trend among some teens today!)
Christina Aguilera (and every pop star at the time), and belly tops
And if you had a belly top, you needed your belly button pierced. Parents across the globe must have cursed Ms. Aguilera for this trend.
All Saints, and combats
Now THIS is a trend we’re glad we got on board with. In fact, we might just run out and buy a pair of cargo green combats right now, for old time’s sake.
Avril Lavigne, and ties
Wearing a tie over a tank top was THE thing to do back in the day, thanks to Avril Lavigne. We can pin the ‘excessive number of bracelets on one arm’ trend on her too.
Beyoncé, and body suits
This is a more modern trend, but a favourite among many. We hope it dies out soon, so our children never need know the hardship of going to the toilet when you’re wearing a body suit.
Gwen Stefani, and red lips with blonde hair
She may have copied Marilyn Monroe here, but we took our lead from Gwen when she hit our screens as No Doubt’s front woman. If only we could have pulled it off half as well as she did!

J.K. Rowling writes as Dumbledore to tragic teen who lost family
This is just so heartbreaking.
Author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has sent a letter to 15-year-old, Cassidy Stay, in the voice of Dumbledore.
The move comes after the teen’s mum, dad and siblings were all shot dead by her uncle in Texas at the beginning of July.
During a memorial service for her family, the brave girl took to the podium and quoted Dumbledore in her moving and inspirational tribute: “Happiness can be found in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
J.K. Rowling heard of the girl’s words through a social media campaign and sent Cassidy a handwritten letter from Dumbledore, and lots of Harry Potter items such as a wand and a signed book.

Jay-Z’s rumoured mistress releases song: ‘Sorry Mrs. Carter’
This is so, so strange!
Jay-Z’s alleged mistress, Olivia McFallar, has released a bizarre rap song titled Sorry Mrs. Carter that seems to be directed at Beyoncé.
The rapper claimed that she was approached by Jay-Z last year but turned him down, and now she is back with an apology…but for what?
In the description of the video, Olivia says it is an "Open Letter to Mrs. Carter."
Well, we’re guessing it’s just because she is sampling Ms. Jackson by Outkast in the song, so she had no choice really.
Needless to say, the song isn't going down very well on YouTube.

10 signs you are in a toxic friendship
So, you've been friends with this girl for what feels like forever, but lately you're starting to think something just isn't right. The older we get, the less crap we take. Here are some signs your friend is not a friend after all…
1. You’re the Butt End of all her Jokes
You have become the punchline of all her jokes. Look, we all have that one friend that gets way more slagging then the rest but there has to be a limit. She goes out of her way to make sure you know exactly where your place is.
2. They Can Give It But Can’t Take It
Slagging matches are always good fun but if they only go one way then they tire easily. She is in her element when the spotlight is on you but as soon as you turn it back at her, she goes into a huff and tries to make you feel guilty about making fun of her so you, in turn apologise.
3. She Always Points Out Your Faults
She knows what you’re self-conscious of so she uses it to make sure you stay in your place. She’ll start the sentence with, ‘I’m not being a bitch or anything, but…’ Or ‘No Offence, but..’ If there’s a ‘but’ in the sentence you know where it’s going to go.
4. Back Handed Compliments
This is pretty much used in combination with the pointing out of your faults. She compliments you, you say thanks, and then you realise what she said: ‘I love your hair like that, it really takes the attention off your nose’…‘Aw thanks, wait what?’
5. She Disappears and Reappears
When you’re together, she gets really possessive for weeks at a time. She is constantly hanging off you and wanting to spend time with you but then she’ll disappear for another month. Any plans for coffee are rarely fulfilled.
6. She’s Completely Different Around Other People
When you're alone she’s actually grand but when you are with others, she’s a different person. If you’re with people she doesn’t really know, she gets nervous and she immediately falls back on insulting you for giggles.
7. She is Constantly Changing Friend Groups
Are you the only constant friend in her social circle? She goes through friends like it’s going out of fashion. It’s never just an acquaintance. When she makes a new friend, ‘she loves this girl’. It always ends in a fight and it’s ALWAYS the other person’s fault.
8. She is Always ‘One Upping’ You
If you have a sore finger, hers is about to fall off. Have a date with a boy? Some guy just asked for her hand in marriage.
9. She Has No Problem in Ditching You
If something better comes along, she has no problem in not meeting up with you and cancelling at a minutes notice.
10. Her Friendship is Like a Favour to You
You should be honored. Like seriously, even just to be in her presence should be enough.

Well, this makes a change.
Usually, magazines are accused of photoshopping stars to make them appear better and to get rid of any flaws, but not this time!
In Touch magazine have been accused of altering one of Selena Gomez’s Instagram photos to make her look gaunt and tired to match their “Selena Back to Rehab” headline.
The true image is one in which Selena is looking over her shoulder while showing off her new tatto. However, in the new and clearly altered image, Selena is looking straight at the camera.
Black bags and tired eyes have been given to the singer, to make her appear as if she needs to go back to rehab.
It's such a shame, as the original photo is so pretty. We’re sure incidents like this won’t help Selena as she tries to heal herself after a difficult few months.

Actress reveals her real name for the first time!
Actress, Maggie Gyllenhaal, has revealed that Maggie is not her real name!
Maggie, who is the sister of Hollywood hottie, Jake Gyllenhaal, had located her birth cert before her marriage in 2009 and was shocked to find out her real name is Margalit and not Maggie, or even Margaret!
The actress said: “Maggie’s on everything! Maggie’s on my driver’s licence, my passport, everything!”
However, her mother has insisted that Margalit was not the name she gave to her daughter after her birth.
While she says she likes the name Margalit, it isn’t something she associated with herself: “I actually really love that, but it’s not my name.”
Sounds as if we all better double check those birth certificates!

Ten reasons we wish we were going back to school
All those ‘back to school’ signs used to give us the chills – but now? Well, we’re just filled with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Here are ten reasons why we really, really wish we were going back to school in September:
New shoes
Ok, so they were boring, old, clunky black shoes that you wouldn’t be caught dead in now, but we’d be lying if we said that each year we weren’t filled with excitement at the thought of going shoe shopping. And despite the constant disappointment, we always retained a little bit of hope that this year, we would get nice shoes and be the envy of everyone at school.
Empty promises to ourselves
The endless empty promises, how we loved those: “This year I’m going to get up early EVERY morning and look fantastic every day!”, “I’ll keep my copy SO tidy this year. I mean it.”, “I’m going to make salad for lunch every day – no more curry chips!” Now we have to wait all the way till New Year to make promise we know we won’t keep. It’s not fair!
Because if we were going back to school, we’d have had three months off
Instead, we’ve only had one week off! Imagine how much stuff you could get done in THREE months? Why didn’t we become a teacher like our mothers wished we would? WHY?
Stationary
Oh, we love a bit of stationary here at SHEmazing!, we really do. Going back to school was the perfect excuse to invest in new pens, pencils, A4 pads, folders, pencil cases (even though the one from last year is perfectly fine), folder dividers…we could go on forever.
We’d get to see our friends more often
Nowadays we don’t get to see them half as much, and when we do we’re all wrecked from work. We really didn’t know how good we had it in school, did we?
Getting to day-dream all day
Even if you were totally bored by your teacher, at least you could just engage in some good old fashioned day dreaming. If they caught you and asked you to repeat the last thing they said, you’d have a great laugh at lunch about your little mishap. You can’t do that in work!
Not having to think about what to wear
As much as we hated wearing a uniform, we can now appreciate the value of not having to decide on what to wear each morning. Imagine how much time you'd save?
Less of a commute
Well this depends on where you went to school of course, but in general, your commute to school was nothing compared to your commute to work these days. Even if it was a long one, at least someone else was doing the driving, so you could snooze in the back.
Free classes
Whispered rumours that the teacher is sick have been circling all day, but you don’t want to get your hopes up. Then the principal walks into the classroom to tell you all to take out your books and study, as Mrs. McDonald won’t be in today, “but you have enough to be getting on with, I’m sure.” Cue teenage hysteria and a LOT of paper aeroplanes.
The simplicity
At the time, school seemed like a jungle. Now? It seems like a walk in the park compared to real life. Bring us back, please!
