gilmore girls

My love for Gilmore Girls knows no bounds. Once I entered the world of Stars Hollow there was no going back.

The show introduced me to the love of my life Jess Mariano and has engraved the lyrics to Carole King’s Where You Lead in my mind forever.

It also taught me some of the most wonderful life lessons that I will always carry with me.

This too shall pass:

Queen Gilmore herself taught me the most valuable lesson out of all the show’s ladies. During the revival series Emily moved me to tears as she dealt with life without her beloved husband. Throughout the four episodes we see her deal with Richard’s death (which I will never ever get over) and make huge lifestyle changes. Emily showed me that the dark days will make you a better, stronger and truer version of yourself.

Coffee makes everything better:

I am convinced that Gilmore Girls has strengthened my love for coffee. I can’t go a day without drinking a cup of jo. I turn into a little gremlin when I don’t have my daily dose. Lorelai guzzles up mug after mug of coffee, but I don’t think I’ve reached her level just yet. If only my local cafe offered free coffee refills like Luke’s Diner does.

Don’t let anyone stop you from pursuing your dream:

I will never ever be happy with Lane’s ending. She deserved so much better than the disappointing storyline she had in the revival episodes. Mrs Kim and her strict rules terrified me, so I’m not surprised Lane fled the nest when her mum stopped her from following her dreams. I felt so proud of Lane when she moved out of her family home and showed us that nobody should hold you back from doing what you love.

Hep Alein were EVERYTHING

Find your happy place:

Gilmore Girls always makes me feel warm because of the homey feel it gives off. Every character on the show seems to have their own happy place; a spot that makes them feel cosy and safe. For Luke it’s the diner that his dad owned. For Rory it’s the library. For Lane it’s behind the drums. For Suki it’s the kitchen. Gilmore Girls showed me that having that go-to place is essential especially on those dull, dreary days when the world is getting you down.

Your mum is your best friend for life:

Lorelai Gilmore is my spirit animal. I admire her passion, her spirit and her undying love for 80s pop culture (My heart bursts with joy whenever she mentions the Brat Pack.) Lorelai and Rory’s relationship is the thing I loved about the show the most. We all argue with our mums from time to time, whether that’s over forgetting to take the washing in when the rain is pouring down or over harsh words you regret saying in the heat of the moment.

The Gilmore girls certainly went through their fair share of ups and downs, but their bond always remained strong. The show reminded me of just how lucky I am to have a close relationship with my mam.

Oy with the poodles already!

We all need a happiness booster more than ever right now and Netflix has answered our prayers with the new series Sweet Magnolias.

Fans of Gilmore Girls are bound to love this charming, feel-good series. Sweet Magnolias follows three South Carolina women, best friends since childhood, as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the charming small town of Serenity.

Sweet Magnolias stars Joanna Garcia Swisher as Maddie, Heather Headley as Helen and Brooke Elliot as Dana Sue.

Jamie Lynn Spears stars as Noreen, American Pie’s Chris Klein stars as Bill Townsend and Grey’s Anatomy actor Justin Bruening as Cal Maddox.

The Netflix show is based on the books by American writer Sherryl Woods.

I binge-watched all ten episodes of the series in one day and it was everything I needed during these dull and overwhelming days. It is such an easy show to watch and you get completely wrapped up in the small town charm, the everyday drama and the complex relationships. It helps you switch off from the world we're living in right now and I think we could all benefit from doing that at the moment.

Sweet Magnolias is the ultimate source of comfort we need during the lockdown. All ten episodes are available on Netflix now.

Netflix has yet to renew the show for a second season, but given the overwhelmingly positive response, there’s no doubt that Sweet Magnolias will be back for a second instalment.

She wrote: “There are SO many I love, but my absolute fave has to be Nick and Jess. I think about this kiss a lot."

Us too, Jenna. Us too.

Classic couples like Gossip Girl’s Chuck and Blair obviously made the list, alongside Brooklyn Nine Nine’s Jake and Amy

The SHEmazing team decided to share our fave TV kisses from our most beloved TV shows.

'Mine is Bill and Sookie from True Blood!

The early seasons of the show were brilliant and they were also a couple in real life – they got together while filming season one I think which is a nice added detail.'

-Jennifer McShane, Editor

'Jess and Rory's kiss in Gilmore Girls is so hyped-up – the sexual tension fizzes between them for months before it happens.

And you can see that their chemistry is real – they started dating after they met on the show, after all.'

-Aoife Loughnane, Editorial Intern

'When Rachel makes up with Ross. I think this was after the whole 'we were on a break thing'. But all of them sat down to watch an old home video of Rachel and Monica's prom.

Rachel crosses the room and kisses him romantically and we're reminded that nothing could ever come in between Ross and Rachel. I mean, they're Ross and Rachel after all.'

-Shayna Sappington, Editorial Intern

Emily and Paige from Pretty Little Liars, the journey for them both to overcome their fears about being judged for their sexuality is touching.

'My fave on-screen kiss also took place in Stars Hollow. Rory and Logan's naive and intense relationship was just so endearing. The kisses shared on mornings in their apartment always made me turn to mush.'

Nothing marks the holidays like frosty weather and cosy Netflix marathons, especially when we get to watch drama unfold in Stars Hollow.

Gilmore Girls captured the hearts of many as fans adored Lorelai and her daughter Rory’s relationship.

For seven seasons, we watched the two banter back and forth as Rory grew into adulthood.

Bad boys, best friends, and a passion for food filled seven amazing seasons of the legendary show.

Then a four-episode resurrection of the beloved series held us over when it aired two years ago.

And now, we have exciting news for Gilmore Girls fans everywhere as the mother-daughter legend continues…

You can visit the actual set used for the girls' home in Stars Hollow.

Fans can tour the same Gilmore home where Lorelai and Rory snuggled on the couch for movie marathons, ate endless bags of takeout, and argued through the Jess phase.

From December 22 to January 6, fans can visit Warner Bros. Studios in California to see the original set and see the cast’s original costumes.

But it wouldn’t be a true Gilmore Girls experience if there wasn’t food involved, so a festive lunch will be available as well.

The menu will include oven-roast turkey breast with cranberry-shallot sauce, lemon garlic roasted chicken, veggie burgers, fries, macaroni salad, and garlic-buttered corn.

Then, with full bellies, fans can walk to the famous small town gazebo.

The iconic site was the setting for countless town events and is the same spot Lorelai and Luke got married in the show’s revival season.

You can purchase tickets for the studio tour and lunch at Lorelai’s here.

It’s the perfect gift to give a fan this Christmas (or to treat yourself)!

'One taught me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain'

The now iconic lyrics of Ariana Grande's new HELLA SPICY self-love song that has shaken the globe.

The tune features lines about her last four serious ex-boyfriends: Ricky Alvarez, Mac Miller, Big Sean and of course, Pete Davidson.

TBH we all expected her to shrow some (lamp) shade all around, especially seeing as Pete Davidson recently made a far-too-soon joke about their engagement, but Ari took the highest road of all, and said 'Thank you, next' to immaturity.

She's a far bigger person than we are, morally, that's for sure.

We've taken the liberty to dig up the most hilarious 'Thank You, next' memes on the net, and boy have we hit the jackpot of comedy. Buckle up, lads.

1. Shrek is love, Shrek is life. Apparently Ariana Grande fans concur with this statement? Who knew.

2. The twist on the most famous line from Notting Hill, and possibly one of the greatest Hugh Grant rom-com quotes, was tweeted by Ari herself. Though who would shrug off Julia Roberts?

3. Sam Carmichael, Harry Bright and Bill Austin teaching us love, patience and pain… Mamma Mia just had to be included on this list didn't it?

4. The sequel has inspired some of the greatest of all time (GOAT) memes, and it wasn't left out in this occasion either:

 5. Detective Hopper from Stranger Things (DK Harbour) absolutely annihilated the world's fandom feels with a single Instagram post=

NOT. ABLE.

6. This one any gal can relate to:

Pretty much just constant pain though… let's not lie to ourselves.

7. What romantic triple threat could skip the Gilmore Girls? Those boys had our hearts, Jess was always our personal fave but WE LOVED THEM ALL. Who are we kidding?

8. Some gas folks out there decided to create a pun on Ariana's 'ex' and transform it somehow into an X-Men reference…

9. Milk politics was then brought into the equation (yep, really), where the eternal battle between dairy milk, oat milk and almond milk rages on=

10. Let us never forget the three brothers who raised us through the Disney years=

11. Last, but by all means not least, the Harry Potter edition featuring Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley and Harry=

Those boys had us feeling all kinds of emotions, much like Ari's entire new album, Sweetener.

In light of everything Queen Grande been through over the last few years, Ariana makes sure to confirm to her fans that the most important relationship she has is with herself.

She's dead right, we say. As Ru Paul affirms: "If you can't love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love anyone else?"

God is a woman, but these memes need their own religion.

We all loved Lane Kim, Rory's BFF in Gilmore Girls.

And actress Keiko Agena ahs nwo written an amazing book, No Mistakes: A Perfect Workbook for Imperfect Artists, about embracing failure and dealing with anxiety.

Sounds like something we might need.

Keiko told Bustle, "I love books like this, that dive into what we need to do as artists. So, I asked myself 'What do I need?' and 'What am I scared of?' Well, I’m constantly scared that I’m not good enough, or I’m not the right type of something, and that I’m a failure,"

She continued, ''it had come to a point in my career where, even though I had been acting for a while, I was –  and still am to some extent – fearful of speaking out. Even though I’m older now, I always defer. My comfort zone is to defer to other people that know better. But at this age that I’m coming into, it was a question of ‘Well, if I don’t start to feel comfortable speaking for myself and trusting my voice, then when?' If I want to do it, I’d better start now!"

Thr book is divided into ten different chapters, each dealing with different creative lessons including "Failure Is Fodder For Courage" and "Cherish Your Voice.''

Shr has been very open about the fact that writing this book wasn't planned, but rather it stemmed from a form of therapy.

She said, ''I will say that if there is one thing that I do give myself credit for, it’s that I know when there is an opportunity and I will fight hard to live up to the grandness of whatever that opportunity is. So, I think when this did start to happen, I just jumped on it. Even though I’m such a Nervous Nelly that I was like ‘It will never happen’."

We've always had a soft spot for Stars Hollow's resident punk rocker and we'll deffo be seeing what this book is all about.

We can all admit we’ve daydreamed about our dream proposal at some point in our lives. Everyone has their own idea of their perfect proposal whether it’s a simple, subtle proposal whilst strolling along the beach, or an elaborate affair on top of the Eiffel tower in Paris.

One Gilmore Girls fan’s wish came true when her boyfriend popped the question in none other than Stars Hollow.

The quaint fictional town is the sweetest location for a proposal. The small-town charm alone would leave your heart feeling so warm and mushy.

The newly engaged Molly Larimer gushed about the moment her partner Sebastian popped the question.

She posted a video of the special moment on Twitter and her beau picked the greatest spot in all of Stars Hollow to ask Molly to be his wife- the famous gazebo.

Molly opened up about the proposal on Twitter: “So I didn’t even mention it but Gilmore Girls has always been one of my favorite shows and Sebastian planned the perfect proposal and actually proposed in the actual Stars Hollow gazebo!”

She added: “I’m so lucky and so happy to spend forever with him #wbtourhollywood #GilmoreGirls”

There are so many iconic spots in Stars Hollow, like Luke’s Diner, the Dragonfly Inn, Taylor’s Olde Fashion Soda Shoppe and Kim’s Antiques, but there is no better place to ask the love of your life than that famous gazebo.

The gazebo was the place where some of the most heartfelt conversations took place in the show. And let’s not forget Lorelai and Luke’s famous picnic date from season two.

Huge congratulations to Molly and Sebastian. We hope your relationship lasts just as long as Richard and Emily's.

I must admit that I struggle to get through the day without my regular cup of coffee. I need that cup of joy to help wake me up in the morning, especially with a lengthy commute ahead of me.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who turns into an angry little gremlin without my caffeine fix, whether it’s a flat white from my favourite local cafe or a mug of instant coffee at 6 am.

I’m a true coffee addict and pride myself on being just like Lorelai Gilmore. “I need coffee in an IV” has become my new motto since I started working full time.

There are times when I do worry about my daily coffee consumption, but one study has certainly reassured me.

Researchers in Germany have discovered that drinking four cups of coffee a day is actually good for your heart.

The team shared that caffeine helps protect blood vessels.

The study, which was published in PLOS Biology, stated that caffeine boosts the production of the p27 protein that protects and regenerates heart cells.

"Our results indicate a new mode of action for caffeine, one that promotes protection and repair of heart muscle through the action of mitochondrial p27,” said study author, Professor Judith Haendeler.

"These results should lead to better strategies for protecting heart muscle from damage,” he added.

There are numerous other benefits when it comes to drinking a Cup of Joe such as boosting cognitive function and protecting against type 2 diabetes.

Experts recommend drinking two to three cups of coffee each day, or if you’re like me then feel free to channel your inner Lorelai Gilmore and drink all the coffee!

Hands up of you are a die hard fan of Gilmore Girls…

*throws two hands in the air aggressively*

So, we've watched the series, BINGED the new episodes, and yet we still want more.

Well, the delightfully whimsical brand, Urban Tee Farm, have launched their very own collection of Gilmore Girls inspired lip balms, and we're obsessed.

There are three shades, all inspired by our favourite Gilmore moments.

Vicious Trollop (we all remember this) is described as "a beautiful light pink tint", while Spring Break is tinted with organic hibiscus powder, mica and "flavoured with organic peppermint and mango".

No Gilmore Girls related cosmetic would be complete without some form of coffee, and the final lip balm is an ode to this.

Java Junkie is a coffee flavoured lip balm that will re-hydrate and nourish your lips.

If, like us, you can't decide which flavour you want, why not get the full kit (includes all three).

OK, so we have to admit that we're over the excitement surrounding the revival of the Gilmore Girls.

The lead up to the Netflix series was brilliant, and the four episodes were fun to watch.

However, the ending kinda confused everyone, because there were so many unanswered questions.

But, we got over it and moved on.

And so did most of the cast too, with Scott Patterson moving on to create his own coffee, and Alex Bledel becoming a stand-out star in The Handmaid's Tale.

But, it seems like the Gilmore Girl journey isn't over for one actress, as Lauren Graham has opened up about reviving it… again.

While speaking on the TV Line podcast, Lauren revealed that she wants to do a… wait for it… Christmas movie.

“To me, what would be a great next step – whenever it is, five years, ten years – would be a Christmas movie," she told the podcast hosts.

We're not entirely sure how we feel about this, but if it were to happen, we definitely want some answers (like, *spoiler alert* WHO is Rory's baby daddy?!).

With Alex signed up to be a series regular on the second season of The Handmaid's Tale, we'd say it might be a while until any Gilmore Girl talks spark back up again.

Be honest; what do you think when you think Gilmore Girls? Conneticut, community and coffee, right?

The show's characters, who made a long-awaited return to the screen courtesy of Netflix last year, appeared equally, if not more, addicted to caffeine than the entire cast of Friends combined.

But it doesn't sound like the obsession ended with the snap of the director's clapper board as the show's diner-owner, Luke, has revealed he is set to launch his very own coffee brand in real life.

During a recent interview which focussed on his career thus far and plans for the future, Scott Patterson revealed: "I'm developing my own coffee brand. It's going to be called Scotty P's Big Mug Coffee"

In a move which is sure to delight diehard Gilmore Girls fans, he admitted that the endeavour is almost at fruition, saying: "We're almost ready to launch, but we want to have our ducks in a row before we come out with it."

"Quality coffee is something that I am obsessed with," the 58-year-old actor explained. "It's the thing I look forward to every morning and throughout the day and throughout the evening and now throughout the middle of the night."

With the success of Luke's Diner pop-up shops, we're fairly sure there'll be mucho excitement over Scotty P's Big Mug Coffee…

It has been reported that Netflix and the creators of Gilmore Girls are in talks about a new series.

A Year in the Life left us all on a major cliffhanger, and many fans became annoyed because well, we all want to know what happened next.

Those 'final four words' shocked the best of us and they can't just leave us there… right?

According to Associated Press, chief content creator of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, confirmed that talks are taking place, but they're in the "preliminary" stages.

"We obviously loved the success of the show, fans loved how well it was done, it delivered what they hoped.

"The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favourite show to come back and for it to disappoint you, but they sure delivered and people were really excited about more and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that."

Let's hope we'll soon be seeing Rory and Loreli sipping on their coffees (Rory's decaf), discussing those last four words…
