We've all heard about ''going green'' but what about ''going blue''?

While we might take great care to recycle and use sustainable supplies, there are other ways to take being eco-friendly one step further.

This is Project Blue Beauty, which focuses on positively impacting the community, oceans, air and planet at large and essentially, creating a better, bluer planet.

And hey, who doesn't want to protect our beautiful oceans?

So what does Project Blue Beauty do?

Created by founder of Beauty Hereos, Jeannie Jarnot, it came together after a beach clean up in Oahu, Hawaii, which resulted in a collection of a staggering 700lbs of plastic.

Jeannie decided use her pull in the field of beauty to support ocean conservation and move towards zero-waste packaging, or packaging that is almost plastic free.

Many brands are now reducing their packaging to being more transparent with their ingredients.

The beauty industry is growing and changing every day – so what brands should you be aware of that are supporting Project Blue Beauty?

First and foremost, Jeannie Jarnot's own brand, Beauty Heroes.

Their partnership with 5 Gyres inspired them to launch glass straws and eco-luxurious utensil sets in their Beauty Store, and minimise the amount of 100% recyclable packaging their customers receive with their online orders.

Others include Laurel Whole Planet Organics, Honua Skincare, and Kahina Giving Beauty.

These three all work with the farmers who the founders source ingredients from to help sustain them.

Jeannie also recommends brands like Osmia Organics and Osea.

She said, ''Osmia really look at product life cycle all of the way through to the end.”

Plus they also plant a tree for every online order.

Osea does it's bit by working with sustainable seaweed harvesters and giving back to causes that support ocean health.

So there are so many clean beauty brands that you can support, and therefore support going blue.

It is still in the early stages, but we hope Blue Beauty takes off because the beauty products that we use every day have an impact on our planet and it's up to us to do our bit to help.

At that stage, we could pretty much put "gin addict" on our resume.

While G&Ts have become a true passion in our life, they are not the only way to enjoy the spirit.

Take this gin shake for example: it is the perfect choice for when you don't know if you feel like dessert or a cocktail. Good news: it is also really easy to make.

Key lime gin shake

  • 100g vanilla ice-cream
  • 100ml condensed milk
  • 30ml gin
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 40g digestive biscuits, crumbed
  • A handful of ice-cubs

Crush the biscuits, then combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Top with whipped cream, crumbed digestives and lime zest.

When we envision the life of a Victoria's Secret angle, we picture the run up to show as a carousel of gruelling workouts, manic press appearances, skin prep and grumbling stomachs.

While it certainly is a flurry of fittings, VS veteran Romee Strijd, from Amsterdam, has picked up her vlogging camera to document the week ahead of the show.

Uploading the vlog to her self-titled YouTube channel, where she boasts a following of 650,000, the model showcased what the days before the show looked like, and how an angel prepares for her winged moment in the spotlight.

Of course VS models are known for their slim, toned and ab-centric physiques, and while Romee self describes as skinny, she's definitely committed to her fitness ahead of the show. Most days during her vlogging, she hit the gym twice a day for one hour each time to do focused workouts.

She attended her personal training at The Dogpound, one of New York's most renowned gyms for 7am work out sessions each morning.

The Dogpound describe themselves as an 'exclusive yet unpretentious community of influential professionals who lead an innovative, wellness focused lifestyle,' so yeah, not intimidating at all.

'I like to work out before work because after work I am so tired so then at least I have my workout done for the day,' Romee quipped, though she did squeeze in evening resistance training most nights. She also did a session of EMS training – a method where a machine delivers electrical pulses that stimulate muscle contraction during a workout for that extra burn.

We have to admire Romee for her gym commitment – it's a well known fact that VS models train like athletes in the lead up to the show so we can only imagine how tough it must be to remain so disciplined when it comes to fitness.

As for her menu for the week leading up, the model kicked off her metabolism each day with a potion of hot water with lemon and apple cider vinegar.

She then followed this with two breakfasts – first a protein shake or smoothie before her workouts, then second breakfast of oatmeal.

Her regular oatmeal recipe saw the grain topped with blueberries and almonds. The Amsterdam native also imparted the importance of upping her protein while training for the show, and incorporated a swirl of vegan chocolate protein powder and a tablespoon of peanut butter into her oats – and to be fair it looked delicious.

Romee also gave her vlog followers a sneak peek at her weekly grocery shop – she admitted that she loves eating out so meal prepping is her only option to stay on track. She also admitted to eating at least one avocado per day.

The shop consisted of standard healthy fruit and veg including Brussels sprouts, aubergine, lean meats and good-fat-filled salmon.

For snacks, Romee opted for carrots and hummus and salted seaweed packs. Not a crisp or dairy product to be seen. In fact, it looks like the model avoids dairy all together, choosing almond milk for her coffee and oatmeal.

In her meal prep containers, the model devoured a small portion of brown rice, chicken or salmon, and a huge helping of hearty vegetables like carrots, sugarsnap peas and butternut squash.

Romee did admit that she was getting pretty bored of her meal prepped foods, but incorporated some zesty ginger shots mid-week after feeling like she was coming down with a cold.

Ginger has been cited as giving glowing properties to the skin, but Romee's pre-show skincare routine more glitters than glows.

Three days before the show, the angel opted for a Mimi Luzon 24K Pure Gold Treatment in the skincare specialists New York branch.

The treatment is known to lift and plump the skin, even out discolouration and add a glow. If you want in on the action yourself, you can order a one-off 24K Gold Mask from Barneys New York for a cool, €309.91.

As well as rubbing gold leaf into her face, the model and co-angel Jasmine Stokes enjoy the ambiance of a salt room to help keep their skin clear.

This was a completely new concept to us, but apparently natural salt caves have been keeping the skin of Eastern European natives clear since the 1830s. You dont find too many natural salt caves in NYC, so Romee opts for a man made one. All you have to do is sit back and relax for 40 minutes while the salt laden air does it's thing.

According to the Salt Therapy Association: 'The properties of dry salt also absorb impurities and provide anti-bacterial properties that benefit the skin such as acne, psoriasis and eczema as well as regulates the skin's micro-circulation.'

'The smaller particles can reach beneath the skin’s surface and absorb moisture towards the skin. The larger salt particles land on the skin and absorb any bacterial and foreign substances.'The dry salt accelerates cell rejuvenation and improves skin rigidity.'

Romee admits that the skin therapy literally makes you salty – licking her arm to demonstrate.

Dublin has it's very own salt therapy cave in Clontarf if you're interested in giving the process a whirl.

Sleep is our number one bae.

There's nothing better than waking up with knowing you don't actually have to get up (hello, bank holiday weekend!), and so we roll around in our toasty beds and clock in some more zzzs.

Well, now new research has suggested the amount of sleep we should get based on our age.

alarm, bell, clock

We've known for a long time that eight hours is the minimum needed, but how many of us actually get that amount every night?

The National Sleep Foundation created a chart, made up by 18 scientists, and confirmed that "younger adults," should indeed be getting 7-9 hours.

  • Newborns (0-3 months): Sleep range narrowed to 14-17 hours each day

  • Infants (4-11 months): Sleep range widened two hours to 12-15 hours

  • Toddlers (1-2 years): Sleep range widened by one hour to 11-14 hours

  • Preschoolers (3-5): Sleep range widened by one hour to 10-13 hours

  • School age children (6-13): Sleep range widened by one hour to 9-11 hours

  • Teenagers (14-17): Sleep range widened by one hour to 8-10 hours

  • Younger adults (18-25): Sleep range is 7-9 hours (new age category)

  • Adults (26-64): Sleep range is 7-9 hours

  • Older adults (65+): Sleep range is 7-8 hours (new age category)

The NSF stressed that we have to "make sleep a priority," and even though that may be a tad difficult, it's definitely set in our minds now.

The idea that men are from Mars and women are from Venus may seem outdated in today's society, but a recent study has found that there may be some truth behind the old saying – or at least when it comes to how we define cheating.

A survey conducted by relationships charity, Relate, asked over 5,000 men and women a series of questions around the topic and found a number of disparities between the sexes.

It seem that one in five men don't think a passionate kiss counts as cheating, while a massive 91 per cent of women do.

The gap was closed when it came to sexting, with nine out of ten women and eight out of ten men saying they considered the exchange of sexually explicit text/emails as cheating.

Overall, a third of people said they've been cheated on while only a third said they were satisfied with their sex lives.

What's more, according to the report, it seems pornography is having an increased impact on modern relationships.

20 per cent of women said they would consider it unfaithful if their partner watched porn alone compared to just one tenth of men.

The report stated: “47% of counsellors said that they are seeing an increasing number of clients where use of pornography is causing problems in the relationship.”

However it looks like infidelity continues to be the biggest strain on relationships with only 33 per cent of participants saying they thought their relationship could survive an affair.

After prepping her face with primer, she began with the All Covered concealer, sliding the brush beneath her eyes and across her forehead.

She then streaked down her nose, upper lip, and chin – creating a tribal-like design. Adding a thin bronzing line to emphasise her cheekbones, nose and chin, she began blending it all together.

The trick is is to apply the foundation on top with a tapping motion, she said. This not only avoids any streak marks from showing but also prevents creasing.

Inglot’s face foundation is light enough so that when you blot it, it doesn’t look too cakey. It creates a smooth, natural looking finish.

Kendall Jenner is facing a bit of backlash (and has been turned into a meme) after a video of her walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2018 was leaked.

The video shows Kendall's rather lacklustre runway walk as she saunters towards the flashing cameras at the end of the runway.

'I do a better walk than her when I’m walking to my fridge' the cutting tweet reads.

Kendall Jenner was the highest-paid model in 2017, surpassing the legendary supermodel Gisele Bündchen.Kendall reportedly earned a staggering €18.7 million in 2017 thanks to her campaign coups and her social media endorsement deals.

She has appeared on the Victoria's Secret runway previously, with some of her poses being descried as 'awkward' by viewers of the show.

Kendall is clearly a gorgeous woman, with model looks for days, but many of her critics feel that she may have only been as successful as she is based on her surname.

Looks are simply not enough to make it in modelling, with the elusive 'It Factor' being a requirement.

We can't comment on the calibre of Kendall's runway work, but we would LOVE for Miss J. Alexander to weigh in…

Bloggers and influencers invite us into their lives and homes virtually, via the lens of their cameras and the LED screens of our smart phones and laptops.

However, it's not often that we get to experience the thought process behind the decorating and design aspects of our fave beauty and fashion creator's habitats.

Beauty and makeup guru-turned-super mum Faces by Grace, aka Grace Mongey, has decided to create a dedicated online space to document her journey decorating her dream home.

Her new Instagram page delves into the area of interior decorating, as she and fiance Chris Gernon focus on turning their new build into a beautiful home.

The couple bought their home in January of this year, after a pregnant Grace and her partner moved back home to her mum's house to save money to get on the property ladder.

After almost a year and a half, the couple were able to save enough money for their deposit – money that would have otherwise gone on extortionate rent thanks to the current housing crisis.

Grace has opted for a minimal, clean aesthetic – very Instagrammable –  but is determined to make it her own.

'The whole house is painted grey and is very minimalistic and clean, so the plan now is to add pops of colour in every room. I don’t want to have the same colour on the walls for 10 years,' she told The Irish Times.

'The interiors thing is so new for me, but everywhere I look I’m inspired.'

Grace has been true to her word, with her new FBGHome Insta showcasing a grey, muted base palette that's been lifted with quirky accessories.

From her electric blue ottoman that perfectly compliments the blue cushions on her crushed velvet couch, to the smattering of fresh flowers and luxury candles dotted throughout the home, we're loving the insight into Grace's homewear taste.

She has also been sharing her home decorating tips with followers in the comments section, from detailing her use of velcro wall hangings to her penchant for SMEG accessories.

She has also been sharing before and after snaps of the home during the building process – so it's pretty fascinating.

It's the dramz  that just keeps on giving.

Comedian Seann Walshe might have been booted off Strictly Come Dancing a few weeks ago not long after he was pictured kissing married pro dancer partner, Katya Jones.

However, now it seems that the pair are to hit the dance floor together again, at the show's grand finale.

The news has come as quite a blow to Katya's husband Neil, who is also a pro dancer.

Poor aul Neil.

Reportedly, Neil ''will be gutted as when Seann was voted off the show, he was glad to see the back of him.''

The general atmosphere on the show has been happier since the 32-year-old's departure and ''things are back on track in his marriage – so he’ll be gutted when Seann is back on set.''

Seann and Katya's drunken kiss was blamed on too much booze and the Russian dancer made a statement after it hit the media, claiming that it in no way reflected her marriage to Neil.

A Strictly spokesperson has said that, "Every year all of our celebrities are invited back for the grand final at the end of the series. This year is no different and we look forward to reuniting them all once more.”

Meanwhile, Seann's former girlfriend, actor Rebecca Humphries, has spoken out about how she has been rebuilding her life after Seann's cheating was exposed.

She revealed on Instagram that she has penned a piece for Vogue Journal entitled, Rebecca Humphries On How Kindness Has Been Revamped In 2018.

She wrote, “Tales and accounts which have since been splashed throughout the entrance pages by full strangers about essentially the most private, deeply heartfelt side of my life.”

She continued, “However maybe the largest shock (no imply feat), has been of the 1000’s of people that recognised the Marvel Girl behind that assertion was on the similar time standing within the ruins of a shattered actuality – and their rush to supply humour, perspective and life-force to assist rebuild it.''

Strictly continues this Saturday on BBC One at 6:45pm.

We all like to believe that slut-shaming is a thing of the past.

However, an influencer alleged that a Louvre guard shamed her outfit choice and refused her entry into the Parisian landmark.

Influencer, Newsha Syeh was wearing a black, low cut dress.

A post shared by Newsha Syeh (@mewsha) on

On Instagram, she captioned the picture of herself in the black dressed: "Picasso would have loved my outfit."

But she detailed her exchange with a guard on her Instagram stories – and what she alleged is disgusting.

"He made the most disgusting and horrible gestures and facial expressions, swore at me to cover up, with hate-filled eyes stopped me from entering.

"I was heartbroken, because I thought the Louvre enforced this archaic rule. Turns out…it does not," she wrote.

A post shared by Newsha Syeh (@mewsha) on

And Newsha is correct – the Louvre doesn't have a dress code.

The guard felt like it was their responsibility to slut shame her outfit – although it's not in their job description.

Hope wasn't all lost for the influencer's dream of entering the museum – she snapped herself in the Louvre, but this time she was wearing a different outfit.

Now, I have lived and worked in France and I understand that French people usually brand low cut or short items of clothing as "vulgar" – but refusing her entry from the museum is absolutely not on.

You'd think in the fashion capital of the world, you could pull off any type of style – but Newsha's experience proves that archaic restrictions on women's fashion are still alive and well.
