With skin cancer now being the most common cancer in Ireland, La Roche-Posay looked to the US to understand what that means to society.

Shockingly, a study by the American Academy of Dermatology has revealed that using sun protection to prevent skin cancers comes second to people wanting to prevent against premature aging.

According to the research, teenagers felt more compelled to apply sunscreen if they saw a video showing that it could protect their skin from premature aging, than if they saw that it could protect against cancer.

When it comes to protecting yourself against skin cancer, it is important to apply a good suncream that will block both UVA and UVB rays. La Roche-Posay has a dedicated Anthelios sun care range that offers dermatological protection for sensitive and sun allergic skin what has the highest PPD and SPF across their range and a variety of textures to suit all skin types.

Not only does the Anthelios range offer a uniform filter distribution for optimal protection and excellent filter stability for lasting protection, it is also ultra water resistant, even after 4 swims, and is enriched with Thermal Spring Water, to soothe and provide anti-oxidant properties.

Nearly all types of skin cancers are curable if detected early so it is important to be vigilant about monitoring moles, looking for new lumps and growth or changes in existing moles.

Increasing awareness and changing behaviours will save lives.

We’re not actually sure whether to be mildly offended by this or not…

Actor, Josh Hartnett has been spending a lot of time in Dublin recently filming gothic TV series, Penny Dreadful.

In a recent interview, the actor compared the city of Dublin to Las Vegas saying it can, “eat you whole.”

Josh then went on to say that unfortunately, he never got the chance to enjoy any crazy nights in the city because of his work schedule: “Dublin is like Las Vegas. It can eat you whole if you spend too much time going out. We had a job to do so we weren’t able to partake in too many nights out.”

Come on a night out with us, Josh, we promise we won’t eat you whole…

It’s the end of an era at the Today FM studios today as Jenny Kelly announced her departure after 14 years with the station.

Jenny is married to radio presenter Ray D’Arcy, with whom she has presented The Ray D’Arcy Show.

The presenter made the decision to leave the show and spend more time with their two children, Kate (8) and Tom (2), saying: “I came back to work in January and I decided after 14 years working on the show, give or take a baby or two, that I wanted to spend a bit more time with the kids.”

We’ll miss Jenny on the radio but at least she will be doing what she really wants to do.

Good luck, Jenny!

While it may have seemed like the worst thing EVER back in the day, when you look back on it, you were very lucky to have been given to chance to go to the Gaelteacht.

Here are some of the fond memories you no doubt have:

1. Where the hell are we?
When you are on the bus to the Gaeltacht you feel like it takes an eternity to actually get there. It all starts to look the same and you’re so deep into the countryside there are no roads only laneways.

BNJesMP2. Learning absolutely no Irish
Nobody actually learns Irish at the Gaelteacht – more like Engrish. “An bhfuil cead agam dul go  dtí an beach and take a swim?”

You cringe now. Back then you were just glad you got your first shift in Irish college and didn’t have to go to school in September a “frigid.”

4.  Playing Hot Potato during every break
Or else that weird clapping game that all of the cool girls played.

tumblr_lunranbzy41qdm9llo1_5005. Ban an Ti
She is the head of the household and was crazy enough to volunteer to keep a huge bunch of girls in her house for two weeks. She makes your breakfast and dinner washes your clothes if they’re dirty, a real Irish mammy.

mlf56. Ceilis
Any time you hear Irish dancing instructions you shudder at the thought. The Ceili is on every night and you have to learn the steps and try not to look like a fool in front of the Irish college veterans.

ceilimeme-37. No TV and no Internet
Looking back, we were troopers for surviving without a TV or internet or music! Go us!

giphy8. Couples
During your two/three week stay in the Gaeltacht almost of every girl and every guy get together and then before they leave they break up.

Cheryl Cole has revealed her top style crush – Victoria Beckham!

The pop star has been having a ball at the Cannes Film Festival this month and lusting after the stunning designer gowns on the red carpet.

Cheryl said, ”Blake Lively has looked gorgeous this time in Cannes, but if I think of someone who always gets it right every single time, then Victoria Beckham. She looked stunning at the Met Ball with David recently.”

After five years in the Cannes spotlight representing L’OREAL Paris, Cheryl has learnt what works best for her on the red carpet and what really doesn’t!

”A couple of years back, I was having my nails painted while I was getting ready and as I got out of the car to walk the red carpet I smudged my wet burgundy nails on my white gown,” said the X Factor judge.

”I was horrified, but I just smiled and walked and kept my hand over the stain. The next day the newspapers reported that I had a perfect manicure; if only they knew.

”Now, I go for a neutral nail and avoid any rich body lotions before I get dressed – although I do love a tinted skin shimmer if I’m wearing black or a dark dress.,” she said.

Thanks for the style tips Cheryl!

Rumours had been rife for a few months now that Rita and Bey’s husband, Jay-Z, have been having an affair.

However, Rita shut those rumours down during a recent radio session, saying: “Don’t you dare disrespect Beyoncé like that ever again in your entire life. You should know better than that … that’s just straight up disrespect. You can’t even go there.”

Now, she proves her allegiance to her idol even more as she performed Bey’s song on television.
