Christmas is a great opportunity to show our friends and family how much we love them with a thoughtful present. When the gift helps raising money for a charitable cause, it only makes it even more meaningful.

In 2011, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services launched a cook book called The Mixing Bowl, which contained a collection of recipes contributed by the residents and clients of the Extended Care Unit and the Community Reablement Unit in Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6. This was a great success and raised over €95,000.

Six years later, The Mixing Bowl, Second Helpings is finally out, offering a special collection of tried and trusted recipes generously shared by 67 patients, residents, volunteers and staff of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.

Some of the featured recipes include a scrumptious Lemon Butter Cake, a yummy Peach Cobbler, a hearty Boatman’s Stew, as well as a Speedy Banoffee.

The Mixing Bowl, Second Helpings costs €15 and is available in all good books shops, in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services both in Harold’s Cross and Blackrock or online

These days, it seems like every celebrity has their very own cookbook – and now, Kim Kardashian might be hopping on the bandwagon.

If you follow the reality star on Snapchat, then you'll know all about her 'Soul Food Sundays' she snaps about every week.

Yep, the mother-of-two has turned into quite the domestic goddess, and Kanye, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have all given her the seal of approval.

A source told People, that her friends and family love her cooking so much that they want her to write her own cookbook.

"Kim is starting to cook so much more than she has in her entire life.

"She's actually considering a cookbook, and she's pretty serious about it. It all started with Kanye's encouragement as he loves when she cooks him food," said the insider.

The source added that Kim is "testing the waters" at the moment to see if her fans would be interested in a cookbook and has even started posting more foodie pics on social media.

We're not too sure about this one… Would you be able to handle a Kimmy K Kookbook?!

Singer Kelis might be most famous for that eternal single Milkshake, but did you know that she’s also a trained chef.

Of late she has been promoting her new cookbook My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World. The singer, who already has a six-year old song Knight with rapper Nas is also pregnant with her second child.

Speaking to Jezebel the pop star talked about how her cooking career was inspired by an ad she saw for the Le Cordon Bleu School and her mother. Her mom was a caterer and who Kelis credits with helping her find comfort in food.

She also wanted readers to know that her recipes are for everyone, whether they are beginner chefs or not:

“They are made for home cooks, like me, people who are juggling a career, kids, friends, family, and everything else in life, but who still want to put a delicious meal on the table.”

She also added that most of the pleasures she finds in her day are connected to what she’s eating, or what she’s planning to eat.

Kelis pointed out the main difference in her food and her music being that she makes her music for herself: “I make music for myself. I really don’t care what people think about it. And I don’t mean that in some cool rebel way. It’s not for you.”

Food meanwhile is something completely different: “I cook for people. It’s a love thing.”

One ‘food’ trend she is certainly not in support of however are cleanses:

“I did like a raw cleanse for 31 days. I gained weight, so it is a waste of time,” she explained.

While her cookbook includes some tasty sounding snack ideas, there was no confirmation as to whether that famous man-inviting milkshake makes an appearance.

She is determined to have a healthy pregnancy this time around.

Indeed, Kim Kardashian admits now that while pregnant with her daughter in 2013, she piled on the pounds.

It is something which she says contributed to her developing preeclampsia, and to the early arrival of North five weeks before her due-date.

So understandably, the reality TV star, currently expecting her second child, has hired a dietician – replacing her donut habit with plenty of freshly-prepared food.

Still, while promoting her new cookbook In The Kitchen With Kris, momager Kris Jenner revealed that her second eldest daughter is nevertheless indulging in occasional sweet treats.

“She like sweets right now,” Jenner, 59, told ExtraTv.com. “She probably shouldn’t eat too many sweets… but she loves all my desserts.”

The 59-year-old also said that her entire family have their personal favourite when it comes to their mum's home cooking.

“I know that every time Kendall comes home from being away from her modelling – she’ll be gone two to three months at a time – she will literally text me when she lands saying, ‘Can you make me the tomato basil pasta, can you make me this, can you make that?’”

In 2013 Gwyneth Paltrow gave an interview that shocked the world when she seemed to say that she doesn’t feed her children carbs.

Or is that actually what she stated?

The Oscar-winning actress has now explained that she feels the interview was taken out of context:

“I’ve been misquoted a lot around food," she said. "The reason I wrote my last cookbook [It’s All Good] with no overt allergens in it was because of my son’s eczema.

"He should eat gluten-free, based on his allergy tests. I don’t know how that got construed to I don’t feed my kids carbs.”

Like every mum, Gwyneth claims she only wants what’s best for her kids, Apple, 11 and Moses, 9. And this includes their diet.

Gwyneth explained in the same interview with Women’s Health that it's important her kids eat as healthily as possible: “I try to have whole foods, organic when possible.

"And a lot of vegetables – my daughter is vegetarian, so a lot of our meals are plant-based.”

In 2011, the Iron Man star was serving lunch to guests in her London home when she fell ill. She initially feared she was having a stroke, though it later transpired that she had suffered the effects of a severe migraine and a panic attack.

As a result, Gwyneth, who 'consciously uncoupled' from hubby Chris Martin last year, discovered that she was anaemic and had a serious vitamin D deficiency. And the health scare prompted her to get her family tested for allergies; she has since adjusted their diets to suit their needs.

Sounds like a pretty great mum to us!

Is there anything that Kris Jenner can’t turn her hand to?

The world’s most famous momager has revealed that she will soon be sharing her kitchen exploits with the world, announcing last night that she is to bring out her own cookbook.

The 58-year-old took to her social media last night to break the exciting news, writing: “Sooo excited to share my new cookbook with everyone! Pre-order link in bio. Out next Tuesday, October 21st!! See you next week, New York!!!!!”

Sharing a snap of In the Kitchen with Kris, she added: “Can’t even believe I finally did this!”

Kris also gave her followers a sneak peek into what yummy things they can expect from her book, sharing a video of her stirring up the ingredients for the chicken soup that she claims is the Kardashians’ staple “comfort food”.

While Kris is credited with launching the careers of her reality star family, she has proven herself to be quite the entrepreneur.

As well as serving as an executive producer on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris also had a short-lived daytime chat show, Kris. After a six-week trial run on Fox, however, the show was not extended.

We can’t wait to see what Kris serves up in her new book.

Prepare to have your taste buds tingling after reading this post.

Ever found yourself thinking more about a delicious meal served up rather than a serious plot twist in your favourite book?

Well, you’re not alone!

A graphic designer who found herself inspired by the yummy meals from her favourite childhood classics has released a new cookbook, in which she brings these dishes to life.

Dinah Fried first got the idea for new book, Fictitious Dishes, during her final year at Rhode Island School of Design. After being handed an assignment to photograph table tops, Dinah decided to put her fascination with fictitious foods into action.

Fried ran with the idea, compiling 50 amazing recipes inspired by her love of literature into a book – and it looks amazing!

Among the culinary delights Dinah creates in Fictitious Dishes are The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’s famous Turkish delight, Heidi’s bread and melted cheese, and a seafood chowder which draws its inspiration from Moby Dick.

Our tummies are rumbling just looking at these photos. This is definitely one to add to the kitchen bookshelf!
