A heavily pregnant Gigi Hadid just shared the first photos of her baby bump on Instagram and we are in awe.

Gigi has been keeping her pregnancy quiet from the public from the beginning, which is why these gorgeous images came as such a surprise. “Growin an angel :)” the caption under the first post read.

In the images Gigi is wearing white, sheer dresses, showing off her growing baby bump. “Cherishing this time. Appreciate all the love & well wishes. Will never forget creating these special images with my friends @luigiandiango @gabriellak_j @erinparsonsmakeup thank you. I love you!” she wrote under another pregnancy post.

Gigi expressed how she felt about being pregnant during a pandemic, and why she hasn’t been more forthcoming about her pregnancy journey on social media, through an Instagram Live back in July. “Obviously I think a lot of people are confused why I'm not sharing more but like, I'm pregnant through a pandemic, like obviously my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world,” she explained.

“That's a reason that I felt that it's not really something that I need to share apart from with my family and friends. Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus that was in the beginning of quarantine and it’s still happening. And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the BLM [Black Lives Matter] movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that.”

A new study published in the BMJ Evidence Based Medicine journal, suggests that pregnant women and women trying to get pregnant should avoid caffeine entirely.

Prof Jack James, of Reykjavik University in Iceland, conducted a study on 48 women and their baby’s birth outcomes, which led him to believe that drinking coffee while pregnant or while you’re trying to get pregnant can lead to increased risks.

These include miscarriage, stillbirth, lower birth rate and/or small for gestational age, childhood acute leukaemia and childhood overweight and obesity.

This is a blatant contradiction to the current medical advice, which encourages women that it is perfectly safe to consume 200mg or two medium-strength cups of coffee a day. “Consequently, current evidence does not support health advice that assumes ‘moderate’ caffeine consumption during pregnancy is safe,” he said.

The study found that the risk of miscarriage increased by between 32% and 36% among caffeine-consuming pregnant women. “Of nine studies reporting results for small for gestational age (SGA) seven reported caffeine-related increased risk and two reported no association,” according to Prof James.

He also found “maternal caffeine consumption is associated with an increased risk of childhood acute leukaemia”. The study concluded that a high maternal caffeine consumption was associated with a 65% increase in the risk of acute lymphocytic leukaemia and a 58% increased risk of acute myeloid leukaemia, the most common cause of cancer death in children.

However, it’s important to take this advice with a pinch of salt, as experts have described this study as alarmist and extreme. Prof Jack James has admitted that this study is purely observational and provides no legitimate evidence to support his claims that caffeine is dangerous to pregnant women.

The study neglects to show cause-and-effect links between the results, or take into consideration other confounding factors, such as cigarette smoking or wider dietary issues.

Dr Luke Grzeskowiak, a pharmacist at the University of Adelaide, Australia, described the paper as “overly alarmist” when he spoke to the BBC.

“There are so many dos and don'ts associated with pregnancy and the last thing we need is to cause unnecessary anxiety,” said Grzeskowiak. “At the end of the day, women should be reassured that caffeine can be consumed in moderation during pregnancy.”

Congratulations are in order for our Mean Girls star, Rachel McAdams, as she appears to be pregnant with her second child.

The 41-year-old has been spotted coming out of a children’s clothing store, the Reckless Unicorn, in Los Angeles on Wednesday wearing a peach-coloured shirt dress, showing off an apparent baby bump.

The notoriously private actress already has a two-year-old son who she has yet to reveal the name of, with her boyfriend, screenwriter, Jamie Linden.

McAdams not having a social media presence means there’s very few photos or information about her private life. However, Rachel spoke fondly of motherhood in a rare interview with The Sunday Times in 2018.

“It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, hands down," McAdams said. "[People say] your life is not your own anymore, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person.”

She added, "I waited a long time [for motherhood]… It's just how it happened," she said. "And I didn't want to do it before it was the right time."

Most recently, Rachel filmed her latest movie, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, in Iceland and got to take her toddler along with her. “He'll never remember any of it, but I feel like somehow that might stick to his soul and his personality a little bit, so it was great to get to travel,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

She added, “We've been cuddled up for so long together that it was wonderful to go out into the world and get to work at the same time. I felt really lucky to be able to do that.”

It seems congratulations are in order for the former Love Island star, Marcel Somerville, who surprised everyone by dropping to one knee at the gender reveal party for his unborn son.

Marcel and his pregnant girlfriend (now fiancé), Rebecca Vieirra, revealed the gender of their baby boy at a party with close friends and family. In a livestream video with OK! Immediately after the colour of the confetti was revealed, illuding to the sex of their baby, the two embraced, celebrating. This is when Marcel reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a small yellow ring box, dropping to one knee.

As soon as their friends and family who are standing by, watching, catch on to what’s really happening, there’s instantly a screaming chorus of excited “Awws”. Rebecca, who is completely taken by surprise, holds her hands up to her face in shock, before quickly nodding her head and saying “yes”, allowing Marcel to slip the gorgeous ring on her finger.

Chrissy Tiegan and John Legend surprised us all when they revealed that they’re expecting their third baby, last week. However, what they didn’t tell us, was how unexpected this pregnancy was to them too.

Model and celebrity chef, Chrissy Tiegan took to Twitter over the weekend to explain how she found out about her pregnancy, following her breast implant removal surgery which took place in June.

“I did the routine pregnancy test you do before surgery. It said negative. It was not negative… A few weeks after surgery, I took a test. And for many years now, I’ve taken pregnancy tests almost every month, praying to see a positive one day. Just wishful thinking. I never had a positive before.”

After struggling to get pregnant naturally for years, Chrissy believed it wasn’t possible for her. “I promise you, I never ever ever ever ever thought I could,” she tweeted.

I woke up with him and was like ‘Man, I should take my monthly test to be disappointed…’ I was not disappointed. But I was scared shitless. Was pretty positive you shouldn’t get your boobs out while pregnant? Pretty sure.”

“So we prayed to the boob surgery gods that everything would be okay. Went to every appointment terrified. Even without the surgery, I didn’t think I could get pregnant naturally anyway. So the odds just felt… bad.”

“But what they say so often can be true. When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you. In summary, my boobs hurt,” Chrissy concluded.

Giving hope to anyone else struggling with fertility, Chrissy stated, “I hope this gives anyone out there some hope. IVF was an amazing choice for us to be able to make. So hard, but we got two beautiful monsters out of it.”

Since her baby news reveal, Camilla has been keeping busy, promoting her debut book, Not The Type, which is due to be available from August 20. The book is said to be a memoir of an extraordinary life, and a script for living one's life to the full.

Although often an engaging reflection on life, landmines and Love Island, this is also a book about learning to confront one's own anxieties in a world dominated by celebrity culture and social media – and on being a woman in what is still too often a man's world.

Not The Type sounds like an enlightening and empowering must-read, and we can't wait to get our hands on it!

Katy Perry and her fiance, Hollywood actor, Orlando Bloom, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby girl, with Katy’s due date just around the corner. However, motherhood wasn’t always something that Katy looked forward to, she revealed in an interview with People magazine.

“I was really terrified of the idea two or three years ago. It was just like, I don't know how I'm ever gonna do that. That's crazy. I can barely take care of myself!” Katy admitted.

It was during this time that Katy’s mental health was deteriorating, and she was in a deep depression. The 35-year-old explained, “It's been two-and-a-half years of trying to find my footing. It's so easy for me to work, work, work and avoid, but I had to go on a mental and spiritual journey.” To do this, Katy underwent the Hoffman Process. This week-long, personal-development retreat helped Katy to dig into negative behaviours.

“It changed my life, and it's changed Orlando's life and many of my friends' lives. It helped me re-wire how I think about myself and the habits and patterns of why I do something. It's just given me a lot more freedom,” said Katy, who’s no longer afraid to become a mother.

When it came to Katy and Orlando’s parenting techniques though, the pop star was pretty sure who will get to be good-cop and who’s going to be bad-cop. “Orlando's gonna be the good cop and I'm gonna be the bad cop. I already know it! I'm the three F's. I'm fun, firm but fair. That's how I roll,” she conceded.

Katy and Orlando revealed they were expecting a baby girl in April. Perry posted a photo of Bloom's face covered in pink icing to announce the big news. She simply captioned the photo: “It’s a girl.” She also tagged the location as ‘Girls Run The World’.

This is the couple’s first child together. Orlando is already a dad to nine-year-old Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians returned to our screens on Sunday, and the season 17 premiere ended with Kim being informed by her doctor that antibodies associated with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis were found in her blood tests.

The reality star and beauty mogul had originally suspected that she was pregnant due to her symptoms of fatigue and nausea, but a pregnancy test came back as negative.

As she delved further into her symptoms, such as swelling in her hands, she became worried that she had an autoimmune disorder.

"Based on the symptoms, it looks like I have rheumatoid arthritis," Kardashian said. "It's so scary. So I have to go to the doctor and see what’s going on because I can’t live like this."

Her doctor later confirmed her fears. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disorder that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own tissues, more commonly found in older people.

Lupus is a systemic autoimmune disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, where the inflammation can affect multiple organs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

"I unfortunately had to be put on medication to stop the symptoms, I tried everything natural for the longest time and we chose the best route for me so luckily right now everything is under control," Kardashian said

Kim has been honest and open in the past when it came to her health struggles, such as dealing with the skin condition psoriasis, as well as her pregnancy complications.

Has anyone else got a stash of (extremely) dusty condoms from your college days, or just from when you nicked them from random clinics or health stalls in school? Us too.

Condoms have an expiration date on them, in case you weren't already aware, but what exactly happens to condoms if you leave them in the packaging in a darkened drawer for too long?

The last thing you need when you're getting frisky is to realise that your contraceptive is on its last legs…but would an expiry date really dash your hopes of having penetrative sex?

andy samberg flirting GIF

Well, condom materials (latex, polyurethane and lambskin) will degrade and become brittle over time according to Nerys Benfield, DM, MPH.

The renowned gynaecologist from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center spoke to Refinery29 about wearing expired condoms, and we definitely don't think it's worth the risk.

When condoms are less flexible, they break or tear more easily. Using an expired condom leaves you at greater risk of contracting a sexually transmitted infection or getting pregnant, Dr. Benfield says.

Still feelin' horny? We certainly don't.

A post shared by Durex USA (@durex_usa) on

"Despite all the risks, both partners will benefit from using an expired condom versus no condom at all," Dr. Banfield says.

If you store the expired condom in a cool, dry place, it works better than no protection at all. If you can't get any new condoms, the expired one is still your best bet.

Most latex and polyurethane condoms will have an expiration date of about five years past the manufacture date, so they last quite a long time. We hope you can update your stash in five years, though?

Polyisoprene condoms usually have a shorter shelf-life, but are still usable for about three years. Non-latex natural condoms, e.g. made from sheepskin, have a shorter lifespan and won't protect against many STIs.

Be sure to check your condoms in case any holes or tears have damaged them. If there isn't an expiry date on the packaging or you can't read the date, toss it out. Trust us, better safe than sorry.

So many pleasurable sexual activities don't involve penetration; oral sex, digital sex, mutual masturbation, using sex toys, touching, kissing or just good old-fashioned cuddling.

These activities don't need condoms, so don't panic if your dusty ones aren't salvageable. Get creative and expand your horizons.
