For the last 10 years, birthday girl Ellen Pompeo has starred as Meredith Grey in the hit series, Grey's Anatomy.

She's remained a firm fan-favourite and one of the highest-paid TV actresses today.

In honour of her special day we are wishing her all the best on her birthday!

However, it did get us thinking about how close her alter-ego Meredith has come to her last birthday. Multiple times.

Any fans of Grey's will tell you that series creator Shonda Rhimes does not hesitate in putting her fans through emotional on a weekly basis.

What are the chances that any of these outrageous incidents would happen to one single person?

Seriously!?

1. She holds a bomb inside a patient’s body. Which then explodes just after she hands it off to Dillon.

2. She drowns

3. She gets far too close to a distraught gunman.

4. A Seattle resident has a pet lion. And the lion escapes

5. She's in the plane crash!

6. She's exposed to toxic blood, for a very long time.

Happy birthday Meredith Grey, you ridiculous human being.

Knowing something is bad for you doesn't necessarily stop you from doing it, which is why you probably drink fizzy drinks from time to time.

And while you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who'd recommend drinking a can of Diet Coke a day, new research suggests that it's not one can that will put your health at risk, but two or more regular servings a day could really tamper with your health – especially when it comes to your heart.

A Swedish study published in the medical journal, Heart, tracked soda consumption and risk of heart failure among more than 42,000 individuals over 12 years.

The individuals who drank at least two fizzy drink servings a day had a 23 percent greater risk of developing heart failure during the study.

However, what the researchers didn't mention is if there's a difference between sugar-sweetened beverages (like regular Coca-Cola) and artificially sweetened beverages (like Diet Coke), so rather to be safe than sorry, both diet and regular sodas appear to have an equal risk with heart failure.

We think we'll stick to water now…

Ever since the news broke that Noughties boy band Busted would be getting back together, we’ve been feeling seriously nostalgic.

We reminisced about some of our other favourite bands from times past. For example, S Club Juniors- or S Club 8, depending on the era.

Don’t pretend you don’t remember this eight piece band that were nothing short of pop music legends.

Sundown was an absolute choon! The dance moves alone were enough to have us head over heels- never mind the fact that the band members were probably too young to even hear their songs played at teenage discos.

Oh, and let us never forget the Christmas single!

It included puppies, so naturally we were all about that S Club life. Allow us to make you feel every bit your age as we re-introduce you to the band.

Frankie Sandford:

She went on to join The Saturdays, a huge success and she’s married to footballer Wayne Bridges. The pair have two children together.

Rochelle Hume:

Also a member of The Saturdays (currently taking a hiatus), is spending her time off hosting The Xtra Factor with Melvin Odoom. She married former JLS member Marvin Humes in 2012 and the two have a daughter.

Aaron Renfree:

The 28-year-old was an assistant choreographer on various X Factor live shows and is a backing dancer for The Saturdays (gotta love those connections) and most recently Fleur East.

The openly gay star also reached an impressive no. 26 on this year's Attitude Hot 100.

Daisy Evans:

After S Club 8, blonde beauty Daisy attempted another shot at musical fame, joining a girl band called From Above who were eventually signed by Beyoncé's dad Matthew Knowles.

After From Above failed to break into the charts and a failed X Factor attempt, Daisy gave up on chart success.

She married footballer Jonjo Shelvey earlier this year, and has a one-year-old daughter called Lola Fleur.

Calvin Goldspink:

Everyone loved Calvin. He has an amazing surname, and got most of the male solos in the group. *swoon*

Sadly, he is now off the market after marrying Melissa Caballero earlier this year, and lives in Los Angeles. Excuse us while we cry into our S Club duvet (from Argos, don’t pretend you didn’t want one).

Calvin is still pursuing a career in music and has recently released his debut EP, The Lemon Tree.

Stacey McLean:

Stacey made it to the final six girls on the X Factor in 2009.

Dannii eliminated Stacey before the finals in favour of Stacey Solomon, Lucie Jones and Rachel Adedeji. After a romance with Lawson singer Ryan Fletcher, the 26-year-old got engaged this year to Stevenage footballer Fraser Franks.

Jay Perry:

The singer has taken to the theatre since his S Club days. He now boasts a long list of musical theatre credits, including Beautiful: The Carole King Story. He also presents a weekly show on Hoxton Radio.

There is also his Twitter account, on which he enjoys sharing topless selfies, just FYI.

Hannah Richings:

The 24-year-old has disappeared from the showbiz world in favour of motherhood, with her Twitter and Instagram accounts littered with pictures of her three children with boyfriend Phil Blackford.

What a great surprise for one of our favourite stars. Alexis Bledel – a.k.a Rory Gilmore – is reportedly pregnant with her first child.

According to Celebuzz, the actress and her husband Vincent Kartheiser, who plays Pete Campbell in Mad Men, are expecting a baby.

A source told the website that they are "very happy about the news" but "they don't want a lot of people to know."

The couple married in a very private ceremony last year, so it's no surprise they want to keep their news a secret.

"Only close friends and family know about the baby. [Vincent} is trying to keep it quiet," said the source.

The two met over three years when Alexis guest-starred in a few episodes of Mad Men, where she seduced Vincent's character in the show.

If anyone is in love, it's Blake Shelton. The Voice judge couldn't help but gush about his new flame on live TV.

Last night marked the The Voice's first live show since Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton announced they are dating, which gave viewers front row seats to witness the chemistry between the pair.

In the TMZ video below, Blake can't help but support his new girlfriend as her team battled Adam Levine's.

"Team Gwen is whippin' the crap out of Team Adam tonight," Blake said. "It's fun to see Gwen whip the crap out of Adam tonight. It makes me so happy."

The host of the show, Carson Daly, kept things very professional (i.e. boring) and didn't address the news of the new hot couple – but it was clear they are head over heels for each other.

Even though there was no PDA, Blake continued to support Gwen all night as she giggled her way through the show.

Some of us are morning people, and then some of us are NOT. At all.

And for anyone who thinks it's a struggle to get up every morning, then you can probably relate to these too:

1. You cringe every time your alarm clock goes off in the morning.

2. Your first thought when waking up is, 'Noooooo.' Followed by, 'Ugh, I'm hitting snooze.'

3. You genuinely believe it is the worst part of every single day.

4. It doesn't matter what time you go to bed at, you still wake up wanting more sleep every morning.

5. Your alarm clock looks like THIS… and it seriously stresses you out.

6. You've gotten your morning routine down to a science. The faster you can zip through brushing your teeth and getting dressed, the longer you can stay in bed.

7. You know the first ten seconds after getting up are the absolute WORST. The shock of cold air!

8. Getting up early on the weekend is like torture to you.

But when you finally get to sleep in with NO alarm clock on, it is complete bliss.

One Irish comedian has sparked a massive global response with her Twitter antics of late.

Gráinne Maguire took to social media in order to draw attention to Ireland’s abortion laws.

The 35-year old from Navan decide that “since the Irish state thinks my body is their business, I should take it at its word.”

She decided to live tweet her period. Not only that, but she was directly the messages to Enda Kenny directly.

When her tweets gathered massive attention last week on social media, BuzzFeed News spoke to Gráinne about her Twitter activity.

“I just thought since the Irish state thinks my body is their business, I should take it at its word. They get to decide what happens inside it, so they should know the full details,” she explained.

Many other women decided to join in on Twitter and have been using the hashtag #repealthe8th.

“I never thought in a million years so many people would get behind it,” Gráinne added. “I thought it would just be a silly prank I did on my own.”

The eight amendment bans abortions unless continuing with the pregnancy would result in death.

“I think the tide is changing in Ireland. Women are refusing to be silent and ashamed, they want equal rights.”

The Taoiseach's twitter account has yet to respond and a spokesperson added people tweet the Taoiseach all the time on all sorts of issues and are entitled to do so.

Speaking to TodayFm, Gráinne said that if it is possible for her to use comedy to draw attention to the issue at hand, she can handle the criticism she receives.

Do you remember the news that rocked the world of any and all chocolates fans last month?

When Brown Thomas announced that they would be introducing a personalisation service for our favourite chocolate spread, the internet went absolutely wild.

The "ultimate stocking filler" has proven to be a massive success in Brown Thomas Dublin. So much so that Brown Thomas Cork are opening up their own personalisation station too.

Hurrah!

Chocolate lovers (or very good gift-givers) will have the opportunity to personalise a jar of Nutella with up to 9 characters.

Individual personalised jars will be priced at €5.50, there is also the option to purchase a personalised jar in a presentation box for €7.50.

Once again, Caoimhe can finally have her own personalised treat, but those Christophers and Blaithnaids will still be left waiting, unfortunately.

The Nutella Personalisation service is available exclusively at Brown Thomas Cork from Tuesday 17th November.

While most of us try to stick to a diet or exercise regime, we can wander off it from time to time. And that's totally OK, we all need some time off, but it doesn't mean your figure has to suffer.

So, here are five great ways to make your tummy appear flat, without any nagging diets or gruelling workouts:

Perfect your posture

Standing straight and having the correct posture will instantly make you appear slimmer.

"When your posture is good, you're automatically engaging and toning your stomach muscles," trainer Kim Lyons tells Cosmopolitan. So just dot a few Post-It notes around your room so you remember to stand tall.

Down it

Keep the water flowing! "Being dehydrated causes the body to hoard water," says Kim, which can lead you to carry up to FOUR excess pounds around your stomach area.

Now that's something to remember the next time you pass on a glass of H2O.

Give up gum

Chewing gum forces you to swallow more puff-producing air, which can keep you from squeezing into your skinny jeans. If you need to freshen your breath, you're better off buying some mints.

Keep chewing

Rather than devouring our meals (like most of us do), make a point of chewing your food at least ten time before swallowing.

"The body has to work overtime to break down food in the stomach and intestines, which can lead to major gas and indigestion."

Relax

Take 20 minutes a day to relax and de-stress, because worrying too much can actually lead to weight gain.

"Stress amps up the production of cortisol, a 'fight or flight' hormone that sends excess fat directly to your midsection in its attempt to protect your vital organs." … And nobody wants that!

A tint; a half head of highlights; a rinse – when it comes to hair, it's easy to fall into a major colour trap.

You rock the same old tresses year after year, and despite vowing to jazz things up with something a little more adventurous sticking to what you know is ever-tempting.

Which is why here at SHEmazing! we were SERIOUSLY inspired by the looks on offer at the recent Peter Mark Colour Trophy awards.

It's pretty much THE biggest night in the industry – and getting our hands on some snaps from the high-profile event has us pining for new locks.

Yup this is your official hairspiration alert: because if the international judging panel that flew in for the contest (fancy-pants) don't know what's what in the world of hair colour, then the rest of us are a total lost cause.

The Colour Trophy winners

MC’d by the always dapper Darren Kennedy and held at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Dublin 4, an audience of some 700 gathered for the spectacle.

On hand were the expert likes of Frederic Pavard (Alexandre de Paris), Gareth Williams (headmasters), Ian Brady (Cats), Patricia Strachan (L’Oreal) Holly O’Keefe (Peter Mark) and Michael Doyle (Peter Mark).

Young Colourist Of The Year, Sinead Keane

To rapturous applause, the Peter Mark Colour Trophy winners were announced as Lyndsey Corcoran and Danielle Brolly from Peter Mark Killiney. Meanwhile, the Peter Mark Young Colourist Of The Year was Sinead Keane, from Peter Mark Athlone. Finally, the Peter Mark Men’s Styling Award went to Rachel Flanagan, from the Market Cross, Kilkenny salon.

But for us, the high-point was the INCREDIBLE fashion show on the night. If you're in the market for something that's really going to turn heads – definitely take inspiration from the Peter Mark talent that was on offer last Sunday: #hairswoon…

A painting of a nude female that caused quite the scandal nearly a century ago went up on the auction block for the first time this week.

Amedeo Modigliani's Recling Nude was created from 1917 to 1918 and was the highlight of Christie's New York auction sale.

The auction for the 1918 painting blew previous records away as it sold for $170m (€158m), 100m more than previous record prices.

The seller was listed as Laura Mattioli Rossi, the daughter of the Italian art collector Gianni Mattioli. “This is the painting that defines Modigliani,” said Mariolina Bassetti, Christie’s chairman.

The heated bidding race only took half an hour which is good news for Christie's auctions, as the company has a full week of contemporary-art sales ahead of them.

Recling Nude stands atop Modigliani's relatively small collection of paintings. He only managed to produce 350 before he passed away at the age of 35 due to tuberculosis in 1920.
