Underwear as outerwear is not a new concept, but lately, I've noticed a recurring trend on my Insta feed of bloggers stepping out in their pyjamas.

Now, I'm not talking a fuzzy flannel two piece here, instead, a simple leopard print night dress has been repurposed with some creative styling.

Bloggers such as Dublin-based Sarah Hanrahan and Galway girl Ciara Walsh have posted looks featuring the animal skin slip, proving that it's a nationwide trend.

Sarah was the first to utilise the night dress and kick start the trend, which can be picked up for a steal at €10.00 in Penneys.

While most of us wouldn't necessarily think to peruse the pyjama section for our newest dress, as Sarah says 'the only real difference between a dress and ‘nightdress’ is labelling.'

With leopard print being a huge trend at the moment, and slip dresses in the pattern going for an average of €30.00 on sites like ASOS and Motel Rocks, it's a genius way to nail a trend on a budget.

Plus, once you've gotten your cost per wear, it can be transferred from your outerwear wardrobe to your pyjama drawer to fulfil it's original intended purpose.

Sarah added her nightie over a minimalist black long-sleeved top and black boots, keeping the overall effect simple and chic – and with absolutely no notion to the fact that she had stepped out in a slip.

Blogger Freya Broni added a white T-shirt under her version of the look, and opted for a high-low mix with a Gucci belt (a blogger staple) and a perspex bag. Adding an urban edge, she donned some white runners to finish the look.

Ciara Walsh wore the nightie without layers, simply flinging a leather jacket over top, proving that it can be as much a night out look as a night-in-bed look.

With so many sartorially sound Irish influencers lending their name to the trend, I'm quite certain this slip is about to be a sell-out in Penneys.

I'll catch you in the Pjs section where I'll be hunting down my own…

Emma Mhic Mhathúna’s funeral mass took place at Séipéal na Carraige, Baile na nGall yesterday. The family of the late mum honoured her following the service in the most emotional tribute.

Emma’s uncle John Moran delivered a moving speech outside the Kerry church. He spoke on behalf of Emma’s family to the media.

“The people of Ireland have really taken Emma into their hearts and all we want to say is thank you.”

“We loved her. We will miss her,” he continued.

“She was 37. She was the mother of five children. She did everything right.”

John stressed that Emma will forever be remembered in the most positive way. There’s no doubt the country will ever forget her witty sense of humour, her kind heart and passionate nature.

“As a family, we will remember her in the most fond, fond way,” he said.

He vowed to always look after Emma’s five children: “Our job from today is to make sure her five fantastic children are respected and grow to be lovely young adults.”

“The was a fantastic mother. She was a fantastic friend,” the grief-stricken uncle said.

“Today is a very sad day for us. Today is a day for celebration. We say goodbye to Emma and we say thank you to you,” he concluded.

The untimely passing of Emma has broken the hearts of the nation.

Brett Kavanaugh has been the catalyst for a global discussion around sexual assault.

Despite allegations of sexual assault made against him by three separate individuals, Kavaunagh now serves as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Since his first day in office, the website BrettKavanaugh.com has been turned into a resource for survivors of rape and sexual assault.

'The start of Brett Kavanaugh’s tenure on the Supreme Court may look like a victory for one interest group or another. But, more importantly, it is putting a national focus on the issue of sexual assault – and how we as a country can and should do more to prevent it and to support those who have experienced it,' reads the site.

'This past month, thousands of survivors came forward to tell their stories.'

'We applaud your bravery. We believe you. And if you are seeking additional resources, these groups can offer assistance.'

The website gives access to the National Sexual Violence Resource Centre and the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, as well as the End Rape On Campus project.

The site was launched by Fix The Court, a grassroots organisation created to lobby for Supreme Court reforms.

'Three years ago, I bought a handful of URLs that I thought might be useful in any forthcoming Supreme Court confirmation battles. Included were BrettKavanaugh.com, .org and .net,' said Fix The Court executive director Gabe Roth.

'Today I am redirecting those three to a landing page with resources for victims of sexual assault. I believe Dr. Ford. I believe Prof. Hill. I also believe that asking for forgiveness is a sign of maturity and strength, not weakness.'

'Watching last night’s White House event and listening to the President again cast doubt on veracity of Dr. Ford’s claims, while not hearing a word of contrition from the newest justice, was difficult for many Americans who have experienced sexual misconduct firsthand. Fix the Court stands with you. We believe you, and we support you. And if you seek additional resources, you can go to BrettKavanaugh.com.'

With the recent retirement of the original Naked palette from Urban Decay’s beauty arsenal, the next collection launch for the behemoth brand was hotly anticipated.

As consumers mourned the loss of an iconic product (a loss soothed somewhat by the deserved exit the palette was given – if you haven’t seen that funeral departure featuring Nicole Richie then here’s the link, you’re welcome) the well-contoured cogs at Urban Decay were turning, lining up their catwalk-watching with key trends of the moment before finely milling the two into a new capsule collection for the grieving Naked 1 zealots.

I’ll never forget walking into a department store in Limerick and seeing the OG Naked palette on a purple velvet pedestal before emerging with it clasped in my clammy teenaged hands, and with it’s departure, all eyes were on Urban Decay, waiting to see what would be introduced, almost in it’s stead.

The new release had to, like all others, appeal to the non-legacy audience of beauty lovers who were more adjusted to having their faces pressed up against the UD Instagram page rather than the brand’s colourful displays in department store windows of era’s past.

And through these elements, (and a knack for knowing what the beauty community wants before any influencer tells them)  the new Naked Cherry collection was born.

Urban Decay purists will recall the brand’s original values – to be an antidote to 1996’s obsession with washed-out neutrals by redefining the nude and introducing pops of well formulated, rebellious colour, and this is exactly what they have done once again with the Cherry.

The collection is perfectly curated, with the pièce de résistance of course being the Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette, but before we get to that, let’s run through the other additions.

First, we have a triad of lipsticks that can only be described as extra. Extra shimmery, extra pigmented, and extra-vagant. Formulated into their Vice Lipsticks, the shades are as different from one another as could be but work in harmony to create a capsule of totem lippies that would see any makeup-lover worth her Moondust through party season.

The first of the triplets is Juicy – a high shine, high shimmer neutral that would work as a stand-alone lip look, or, when washed onto the lip with a lip brush, work as a lip topper over a darker hue. The second of the trifecta is Devilish, a berry pink lippie with bold body and a shimmer that screams to be paired with an autumnal eyes.

Lastly we have Cherry, a deep berry wine so vampy it turns heads. The perfect remedy to a seemingly endless lip trend of overlined taupe liner, the deep shade is given an added dimension thanks to it’s high-shine finish, and it’s a complete collection stand out.

The collection also includes two new 24/7 Glide-On eyepencils, which Danielle Roberts, global makeup artist at UD, explains are created with their original formula – so soft on the eyes thanks to their buttery consistency that 90-year-olds come in to the Urban Decay stores searching for the soft pencils.

The new shades are Love Drug, a metallic purple, and Black Market – a sister to their pre-existing black best-seller Sabbath thanks to it’s satin finish.

With almost a decade of makeup mastery behind her at Urban Decay, Danielle epitomises the brand’s values of sophistication with an edge. Her personal take on the collection today, when I meet her in the Grafton Street store,  is a dark, berry-bitten but glossy lip (Cherry Vice Lipstick, of course) and a subtly sparkled, powder-puff pink eye.

She explains that her almost decade-long career with the brand stems from her love of the brand’s inclusive mission statement, and, of course, her love of makeup.

‘Sometimes on social media, the makeup that you see is so extravagant that not every woman would want to look like (that) , so we tailor our trends  based on that but also based on what everybody can achieve with our product,’ she says.

She talks me through the final two pieces in the collection – a duo of palettes, one for eyes and one for face.

When faced with the dreaded ‘desert island’ question -Danielle identifies the Highlight and Blush Palette as her essential could she only choose one thing from the collection.

It includes a deceptively white highlighter, which rather than giving the icy highlight anticipated, instead gives a soft pink strobe effect (one that’s still twinkling on the back of my hand as I type this, a good four hours after our chat).

Laying beside this in it’s eclectic cherry-print packaging, is a blush, whose shade can only be described as cresting sunset – it’s warm, slightly earthy, and stunningly pink. Danielle mentions that the shade can be a little frightening to some on first impression, but easily demonstrates how the blush is buildable rather than garish. Lastly, we have another shimmer shade, which Danielle delightfully proclaims to be the ‘hotline bling’ shade – the ultimate peachy, blinding highlight. She maintains that you could do a full face of makeup for any occasion with the palette, and after seeing the swatches in action, I’m inclined to agree.

While Danielle and I are in raptures over the face palette, the focus of the online buzz among beauty influencers has been on the Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette.

The palette’s cherry-printed, rose gold packaging swings open to reveal a full sized mirror, and beneath it, 12 brand new, never before created eyeshadow colours. Drunk Dial and Young Love are the shades everyone from Jamie Genevieve to Jen Morris of Too Dolly Makeup have been raving about. The palette includes a mix of mattes and shimmers, the aforementioned both being shimmer shades, but in a cherry-inspired set of hues.

From the lightest matte neutral to deep, rich purples, the palette is a response to the pink shades seen globally, in high fashion shows, dusting celebrities cheeks, and on budding makeup artists on Insta. The eyeshadows are created using the same pigmentation method as the other Naked palettes, meaning you get some serious pigment payoff for your investment.

The palette is versatile, capable of launching 1000 nights out with unique party looks, but soft glam, muted eyes are also within reach with just a flick of the double-ended brush the palette includes.

The last element to the collection, undoubtedly fun and frivolous in the best way, is the iconic Urban Decay setting spray – but of course, the new edition is cherry scented. The scent doesn’t impact it’s formula, so it’s still perfect for all skin types – and the scent is divine. Setting your makeup with a dramatic spritz at the end of a beautifying session is all the more satisfying when it’s cherry scented.

The Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette will be available from The Urban Decay Boutique, 50 Grafton Street, Dublin 2 and Debenhams Stores nationwide and online at www.debenhams.ie from 15th October 2018. The collection is launching at Arnotts Beauty Hall, Henry Street and online at www.arnotts.ie and House of Fraser at Dundrum Town Centre from 2nd November 2018 – and online.

We were thrown back into nineties nostalgia when Disney announced the upcoming remake of The Lady and the Tramp.

As part of the trending live-action remakes, Disney has already set in motion the re-telling of this beloved tale.

And the magical studio has officially announced the film’s cast.

Creed’s Tessa Thompson will be starring as the voice of Lady alongside Mulholland Drive’s Justin Theroux, who is voicing Tramp.

Ashley Jensen will fittingly play the Scottish Terrier Jackie as well.

But the actress that everyone is talking about is Janelle Monáe, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The singer-songwriter has recently made her claim to fame in films Hidden Figures and Moonlight.

She is also starring in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic Harriet.

The film will be directed by the renowned Charlie Bean, previous director of last year’s Lego Ninjago Movie.

The exact release date has yet to be announced, but what we do know is that the film will be available via Disney’s upcoming home-streaming service (similar to that of Netflix).

The streaming service is reported to debut sometime next year.

And we can’t wait to see all of our Disney favourites return to the screen.

Out of all the Love Island couples from this year, Laura Anderson and Paul Knops kinda had my heart.

Why, you ask? Sure he only came in towards the end and tbh, didn't say a whole lot (like where did the nickname ''Cool Paul'' come from, huh?)

Anyway, Laura was the MVP of the show this year, acting like a dignified mature adult at times when I would have wanted to scream and throw a tantrum.

Which is why I was rooting for her happy ending with Paul, which is what seemed possible after they came second place after Jack and Dani.

Alas, they soon went their separate ways and had us all wondering why?!

A post shared by Paul Knops (@paulknopsie) on

Paul has opened up now about why they broke up, saying that 'he was looking for a wife', and he and Laura weren't compatible.

While they split last month, two months after they left the villa, both have remained silent on the matter..until now.

Paul said that Laura cried when he ended it and that they have not stayed friends. Poor Laura!

The 31-year-old was the one to pull the plug and has waited until now to dish the deets so to give Laura time to move on.

He revealed, ''we weren't compatible for each other. I knew I had to be 100 percent sure about it because you know – the next person you're with could potentially be your wife; you don't want to be unsure about it.''

"Of course she was upset; there were tears. "We aren't friends now – we haven't spoken, it is a sore subject.''

Ouch that doesn't sound like the best of break-ups, does it?

Fans soon started to wonder if Paul just saw Laura as an easy way to win the ITV show, something that he strongly denies.

He said, ''people blamed me of using her. How did I use her? We went on the same reality show. Laura wouldn't have come second without me and vice versa. I'm not that kind of person.''

Laura has remained a lot more tight-lipped on the whole situation, blaming conflicting work schedules and Paul's lack of effort as the reason they split.

She said, ''I was hoping we'd spend more time together and build a proper relationship out of the villa. It didn't happen.''

Laura, we think you're far better off without him – she is the real MVP of Love Island 2018, after all.

Ah, budget day – generally, we wait with bated breath to hear if smokes or alcohol will be slapped with extra tax.

But changes are coming to how you buy these goods – yes, we are talking about your wages.

Here's everything you need to know, as the rate of unemployment hits its lowest level in 10 years.

To kick us off, the minimum wage will be increased to €9.80 per hour.

And for those who are earning under €35,500, you won't pay the higher rate of income tax – happy days.

This has a knock-on effect for the top marginal rate on incomes up to €70,000. – If you're pulling in those digits, your rate will be reduced to 48.5 percent. – So you're buying drinks.

Additionally, the Universal Social Charge (USC) rate of 4.75 percent will fall to 4.5 percent for those on incomes between €19,300 and €70,000.

There's more good news if you're working full time on minimum wage, you'll fall into the second band of USC rates, as it has been raised from €19,372 to €19,874.

And finally, employer's PRSI will rise from €376 to €386.

Now if you're a home carer, your tax credits will increase from €300 to €1,500.

If you're self-employed, there is also a change to your earned income tax credit, as it's going up from €200 to €1,500.

Oh, and by the way, bad news for smokers – a packet of 20 cigarettes will be slapped with an extra 50c.

To cheer you up, we've compiled our favourite reactions from Twitter to budget 2019.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in the most magical May wedding this year. Their love story is like something out of a fairytale and we couldn't be more jealous.

They may be one of the most-loved celebrity couples of the 21st century, but like all of us, former Suits actress Meghan couldn’t help but worry after her first date with the prince.

A close friend of the royal couple set them up on a blind date back in 2016.

Meghan only had one question to ask about her now-husband when her friend recommended going on a date with him.

All she asked was “Is he nice and kind?”

The couple enjoyed an “intoxicating first date” but Meghan was extremely worried about one thing in particular.

According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, the Duchess of Sussex was afraid she came across as too eager after she agreed to a second date with the prince.

"As she relived that fateful evening in her mind, she perhaps wondered if she had been too eager to accept his invitation to meet again the following day.”

We’re sure the Duke of Sussex was thrilled when Meghan agreed to a second date: "They were mesmerised by one another, Harry enthralled by her beauty, sophistication and perceptiveness.”

Now if only we could find a fella like Prince Harry.

It's that time of year again – Budget day is upon us.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe announced the 2019 Budget today in the Dail amidst rumours of new tax cuts and spending increases.

He opened with, ''we will protect the most vulnerable in our society.''

So here are the main points of information from the Budget about how it will affect you.

Taxes

Expenditure on capital next year will be €7.3million with the Minister saying, “I am allocating an additional €1.4 billion for schools, universities, public transport, and other important infrastructure projects in 2019, bringing total expenditure on capital next year to €7.3 billion.”

Its good news for workers as the Universal Social Charge is set to be lowered by 0.25 percent (meaning roughly an extra fiver a week) and threshold which people hit the higher tax band, 40 percent rate of income tax, will rise by €750 from €34,550.

As well as that, the threshold at which people hit the lower 2 percent rate of USC, (incomes between 12,000 and 19,000) will be widened by €500, taking into account the 25 cent increase in the minimum wage. Home carers tax credit is increasing by €300 and the earned income tax credit for the self-employed is up €200.

Health

“I am announcing a further increase of €1.05 billion in Health funding for 2019. This brings the health budget to €17 billion. This is the highest level of Health investment in the history of the State.”

Patients under the Drugs Payments Scheme will be happy to hear that the monthly cut-off charge on medicine is reduced to €130 from the current level of €134.

Prescription drug charges reduction from €2 to €1.50 for medical card holders.

Housing

The housing crisis has also been looked at, with €2.3billion has been allocated to the housing programme in 2019, with an extra €150 million will be allocated for the housing assistance payment. There will be €1.25billion for 10,000 new social homes in 2019.

Thresholds for affordable housing applicants set at €50,000 for single applicants and €75,000 for dual applicants.

Social Life

Cigarettes have gone up an extra 50 cent while booze prices remain the same.

Emma Mhic Mhathúna has taken her final journey as her funeral took place in Kerry today.

The mum-of-five asked for her mass at Séipéal na Carraige, Baile na nGall to be given in Irish. It is understood the mum was deeply passionate about the native language.

Following today’s service, Emma’s remains will be removed to St Mary's Pro-Cathedral in Dublin, where a mass will take place on the morning of Wednesday, October 10.

The mum will then be laid to rest in Maynooth, Co Kildare.

Video journalist Seán an tSíthigh posted a poignant photo of the mum’s coffin on Twitter captioned: “Emma Mhic Mhathúna, 37-year-old mother of five, begins her final journey & leaves the small fishing village of Baile na nGall.”

The untimely passing of the mum-of-five has broken the hearts of the nation, especially after how hard Emma fought for the women affected by the Cervical Check scandal.

Emma was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 after two smear tests showed incorrect results. The mum believed she would have beat the disease if she was diagnosed on time.

She was given a terminal diagnosis this May.

Her family thanked the public for the waves of support since news of Emma’s death broke on Sunday afternoon.

There’s no doubt Emma’s tireless campaigning and determined spirit will forever be remembered. Her family said they are grateful for the legacy she left behind.

“We take some comfort in the knowledge that Emma will be long remembered by the thousands of people who have been inspired by her fight for justice, transparency and improved services."

Emma was a true warrior. Our thoughts are with her children, family and friends during this harrowing time.

Harry Potter was a key part of our childhood.

Fond memories of awaiting the release of the movies or books that would open up a world of magic – gives us those nostalgic feels.

And for one of our all-time favourite characters, Luna Lovegood, played by Evanna Lynch, the series didn't just make her a household name, it changed her life.

The 27-year-old revealed how the franchise and in particular J.K. Rowling helped her through "a really difficult time” as she battled an eating disorder.

While making moves on Monday's Dancing with the Stars episode, the actress opened up about her most memorable year, 2006.

Evanna secured the role of Luna in January 2006 and she revealed that she was "the biggest fan" of Harry Potter.

“It was just my great love at that time. So then suddenly I was in the world, living the dream," she said.

“I just adored the Harry Potter franchise and Luna Lovegood was my favourite character, so it was just like a lot of things to process at once.”

Though the role was a huge deal for Evanna's career, Harry Potter meant so much more to her, as it offered a positive feeling through the darkness of an eating disorder.

“When I was like 11, 12, I was battling an eating disorder. Anyone who’s had an eating disorder knows it completely takes over your life,” she said.

And this is where the author came in to lend a hand, as the books were the only thing that could take Evanna's attention.

“I started writing to J.K. Rowling and she wrote back and we became pen friends after that,” said Lynch. “I was in and out of hospital and I would be getting these letters.”

The interaction with J.K. Rowling began to build up the actress' desire to fight.

The “books and her kindness really made me want to live again.”

“Being in Harry Potter changed my life because it proved to me that I could do something, that I had something to offer the world,” she added.

Now before you start with any speculation, Evanna made it clear that the author had no influence when she secured the role of Luna.

“We were pen pals. We were writing to each other for years, but then when the open audition happened, it happened within two weeks from the audition to getting the part and I didn’t have a chance to tell her,” she explained.

If you or a loved one are suffering from an eating disorder, there's a wealth of information here.

What an incredible story.
