If you're on the pill, then you'll know that there can be some nasty side effects.

You freak out if someone looks at you the wrong way, bloat like a balloon in the space of two minutes and cry at the end of Batman VS Superman (true story).

We have handled these side effects – and many more – for years, and even when people thought we were bizarre, we knew it was just the pill playing tricks on us.

However, now it has been confirmed that oral contraceptives do indeed effect our emotional responsiveness.

In a recent study published in the European Neuropsychopharmacology (try saying that fast), it found that women taking the pill may be less in tune when it comes to emotional situations, and find it more difficult to share empathy with others.

So, that explains why we act like a grade A b*tch sometimes.

The researchers studied 73 women in total. 18 of those didn't use any oral contraceptives, 30 of the women were on the pill and the remainder were on their pill-free week.

They looked at three elements in each woman – emotional recognition, perspective-taking and affective (emotional) responsiveness. With the first two elements, all of the women scored fairly similar, but it was the affective responsiveness that blew up the charts.

The ladies were all asked to read a sentence designed to provoke an emotion in them. They were then asked how they would feel if what was happening in the sentence, happened in real life.

The study showed that "females currently taking the pill showed better performance than those in their pill-free week." So basically, our emotions and empathy go up and down as we go on and off the pill.

The end of the study notes that "little is known about their impact on psychological processes and emotional competencies.

"The current study highlights the need for future research to shed more light on the neuroendocrine alterations accompanying OC [the pill] intake."

Don't worry though, all that crazy gives us a little more charm… right?!

Lateysha Grace is certainly no shrinking violet. but even she had to admit that her appearance on last night's Bit on the Side was one of the more mortifying of her television career.

The Valleys star, who recently made her way into the Big Brother house before being evicted in recent days, appeared alongside Rylan Clark on the spin-off show, and decided to give him a quick lesson in twerking,

Readying herself to perform Miley's favourite move, Lateysha – rocking a skin-tight strapless dress – turned her back to the camera, and went for it.

In a moment which has everyone in SHEmazing! HQ cringing all over themselves this morning, Lateysha fell victim to a wardrobe malfunction of the highest order, and ended up accidentally mooning the viewing public.

Latesyha did what any self-respecting woman would do in that situation – grabbed her arse, shrieked and threw herself backwards onto the couch.

Ladies, prepare yourselves for this one…

Kylie Jenner's pout made her a pop culture phenomenon and she even made big bucks from it with her lip kit.

But now, in an interview with Allure, she's finally admitted that she might have gone a bit overboard with the plump.

"Well, I definitely made my lips a little too big at one point," she said.

"I got excited and felt like I needed to do a lot. And then you guys were like, 'Kylie, you need to chill'.

"And then I had to go back and have it fixed, and it was a crazy process. Thank God I didn't end up on Botched."

No worries now though, as she seems to have toned them down for the Allure cover.

Conor McGregor is a very happy camper this morning.

Last week he was nominated for two ESPY Awards and last night the Irish fighter WON Best Fighter of the Year.

The awards, which are hosted by US TV network ABC, were an extremely glitzy affair last night with the world's most glamorous sports stars stepping out on the red carpet.

He was also nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete but that award went to Jake Arrieta, an American baseball player.

Conor wrote on Instagram to thank his fans: "It is an honour to take 'Best Fighter' at the prestigious ESPY awards!

"I am deep in preparation to come take out everyone that has spoke my name in vain. I will get you all."

Ah, Conor, never change.

It’s only been few hours since Calvin Harris launched a stream of Twitter abuse at his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and already singer Katy Perry has come up with the perfect response to the increasingly complicated situation.

While clarifying that Taylor did play an important part in the creation of This Is What You Came For, Calvin managed to have a sly dig at Hiddleswift and potentially re-ignite Taylor’s feud with Katy Perry.

It’s long been suspected that Roar singer Katy and the controversial Miss Swift don’t see eye to eye, but last year Taylor basically confirmed it when she revealed Bad Blood was inspired by a female artist who had stabbed her in the back.

And now Calvin has added major fuel to that fire by tweeting: “I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it.”

In a pretty smooth move Katy has since posted a caption-free gif which shows presidential candidate Hilary Clinton raising her eyebrows and shrugging her shoulders in what looks like amusement.

And on top of that, the star has retweeted her own tweet from May last year which says: "Time, the ultimate truth teller."

Oh, it is on!

Calvin Harris has taken to Twitter to confirm that his ex Taylor Swift did in fact play a part in the production of This Is What You Came for which he released with Rihanna earlier this year and the superstar DJ even managed to take a tidy shot at Hiddleswift while he was at it.

Today TMZ reported that back when Talvin was a thing the pair came up with the tune and recorded a demo of it on TayTay’s phone but later decided not to release it together, hence why Rihanna eventually appeared on the track.

And while Taylor was originally named as a co-writer in the credits, her name was later changed to Nils Sjoberg which is apparently her pseudonym.

With reports circulating that the song is what came between the couple and eventually propelled Taylor into the arms of Tom Hiddleston, Calvin has stepped up to put the record straight.

In a series of new tweets the Scottish DJ admits Taylor did play a role in the creation of the song and calls her an “amazing lyric writer” (sweet) before calling out Taylor’s team for trying to make him look bad with the story.

He wrote: “She sings on a little bit of it too…Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual.”

“I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though.  And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”

“Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though.”

Things then got real juicy when Calvin attacked the seemingly unbreakable Hiddleswift by tweeting: “I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.”

“I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it.”  Oh, Calvin!

“Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you've earned a great one.”

“God bless everyone have a beautiful day.”

He finished the Twitter tirade with a link to the song in question in which he tagged Rihanna, not Taylor.

We think we need a little lie down after that.

Plain old vanilla might be the default option when it comes to ice cream, but it seems this summer’s coolest treat trend has gone to the dark side for inspiration.

In between the endless stream of melting chocolate balls, icy Frappuccinos and rainbow coloured doughnuts which have come to dominate Instagram’s food porn network, you may have noticed a very unusual looking iced dessert known as black ice cream.

Pictures tagged #blackicecream show scooped and whipped ice creams served in a variety of ways, all of which are black in colour and seem to be popping up around the world.

The Tech Times has reported that Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream shop in New York is one vendor playing its role in the charcoal-coloured trend.

According to the site, Morgenstern’s black ice cream is Black Coconut Ash flavour which combines dark chocolate ice cream, squid-ink based food dye and a new flavour made from the “charred and processed remains of a coconut shell”.

And as if having black ice cream isn’t cool enough, it has been suggested that the activated charcoal in the recipe can help detox the body so you could say black ice cream is actually good for you.

We all know there's no love lost between Piers Morgan and Chrissy Teigen, but it looks like the online feud as finally come to a head after the Sports Illustrated model finally blocked the Good Morning Britain host on Twitter today.

After penning an opinion piece on Jennifer Aniston's recent thought-provoking essay, Piers suggested that despite the fact he has enormous respect for the Friends actress, he can't help but feel she – in some ways – contributes to the unrealistic pressures placed on women in today's society.

"It’s this: female stars like Jennifer Aniston deliberately perpetuate the myth of ‘perfection’ by posing for endless magazine covers which have been airbrushed so much that in some cases the celebrity is virtually unrecognisable," he argued.

And it seems his piece for the Mail Online was the last straw for Chrissy who tweeted: "@piersmorgan saw your piece on Jennifer Aniston. Why do you ALWAYS take the road of being the piece of s**t a**hole?"

"Particularly with women and people of colour. Tell me it's just for clicks? Please tell me you aren't TRULY this vile," she added.

"Morning, Ms Teigen. You didn't actually read it did you…?" Piers responded. "Try doing that before throwing another diva tantrum."

In a break from the norm, it looks like social media users were with Piers on this one, with one Twitter user writing: "I'd usually side with you, but he's right on this one."

"Please don't tell anyone, but I sorta see @piersmorgan 's point on this one," added one while someone else tweeted: "I am a woman and I absolutely agree with @piersmorgan on his new column. How can we preach body positivity & then edit out flaws?"

While debate raged back and forth online, Piers realised Chrissy had taken one very big step, and informed his followers: "And… she's blocked me. Hahaha. It was fun @chrissyteigen – come back when you can handle adult debate."

Ding, ding, ding!

Of the many, many women in Hollywood we fan-girl over on a daily basis, Emma Stone and Maya Rudolph generally tend to come out on top.

Talented, funny and uber-charming, these two actresses have had the press and public eating out of their hands since day one, and we can think of no one else we'd rather have a vino (or 12) with after a long week.

But if we thought we'd seen the best they had to offer, we were oh-so mistaken.

While appearing on Maya and Marty on Tuesday night, the Help actress accompanied the show's host in a stunning rendition of Call Your Girlfriend with the help of two empty butter tubs.

Between their ridiculously sweet vocals and their mesmorising tub-work, these two are our new heroes.

Ladies, this is too good for words.
