Melissa McCarthy is genuinely one of the funniest women on the planet, and we love her even more (how is that possible?) after last night.

The actress and her husband Ben Falcone opted to attend the Vanity Fair party after the ceremony in somewhat unconventional attire; Adidas tracksuits.

The comedic pair were matching in their black outfits with white stripes, choosing comfort for the red carpet; "It's not less glamorous to me guys, I've doubled my diamonds – I feel great," the actress joked to Entertainment Tonight.

McCarthy was nominated for the Best Actress category for her portrayal of Lee Israel in Can You Ever Forgive Me? but ultimately lost out to Olivia Colman, who gave a memorable speech when accepting for her performance as  Queen Anne.

McCarthy admitted that it was her decision to choose the tracksuit, rather than her husband of 14 years; "When I heard it, I was like 'Oh god, yes'" said Falcone

He starred alongside his wife in Can You Ever Forgive Me? as well as Bridesmaids, Identity Thief and Tammy. His unsurprising response to Melissa's suggestio was; "150% yes, let's do this." Absolute heroes.

Despite losing out on the award of Best Actress, she presented the Best Costume design award hilariously impersonating both Margot Robbie's Queen Elizabeth and Olivia Colman's Queen Anne.

The Favourite and Mary, Queen of Scots were a major part of her costume; she even had the numerous rabbits surrounding her, and ginger mess of hair. We're crying. Her and Ben are couple goals for life.

Ruth E. Carter was handed the award for Black Panther and became the first black person to win the coveted prize, deservedly. Those Wakanda costumes will forever be inspiring.

NOW TV has revealed the Irish public's faves for this Sunday's Academy Awards, and some of them just might surprise you.

While many are speculating that Green Book or Bohemian Rhapsody will take the gong, Ireland's top choice for the Best Picture Award is A Star Is Born, featuring Lady Gaga and directed by and starring Bradley Cooper.

Black Panther is also a dark horse in the category, being the first superhero movie to ever be nominated for the coveted prize.

In terms of Irish talent, 44 percent of the nation's participants believe that Saoirse Ronan was robbed of a Best Actress Oscar nod (which would be her FOURTH nomination) for Mary, Queen of Scots.

The starred in the film alongside Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth, and many believe her amazing performance deserved the nomination. Her previous category nods include roles in Brooklyn, Lady Bird and Atonement.

20 percent of survery participants said that they will be following the results and outcome on social media, and we suspect many of us will be gaggin' to see the gorgeous couture being donned.

Timothée Chalamet is another reason to watch…Just saying…

Unsurprisingly, Ireland's choice for Oscar host is the white wine-sipping legend that is Graham Norton. The acerbic wit would be pure gas at the Hollywood event, if his hilarious Eurovision content is anything to go by.

The public voted 64 percent in his favour as host. NOW TV also found that 47 percent of Irish people will be watching the 91st Academy Awards on social media, a highlights reel or the news.

25 percent of Irish people will wait until the next morning to get the Oscars gossip, rather than the 20 percent who plan to keep updated as the ceremony happens.

For any Oscars enthusiasts, watching the Academy Awards is easier than ever. NOW TV also calculated Ireland's favourite or most memorable Oscar moments, and they're still scandalous as ever.

The La La Land Best Picture error in 2017 topped the poll as the most memorable Oscar moment, with more than one-third of respondents recalling the horrendous moment that the film was called out as Best Film by MISTAKE, stealing Moonlight's thunder.

Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded selfie was next in line, taking 22 percent of the Irish public's vote.

In terms of red carpet fashion highlights, 26 percent of participants chose Cher's 1986 bare stomach look with a feathered headpiece as the biggest fashion fail. Bjork's 2001 swan dress with egg laying motion was also a high contender in the faux pas category.

Sacha Baron Cohen appearing as Admiral General Aladeen took 21 percent of the fashion fail vote, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s braless goth look from 2002 had 19 percent of the vote.

Kevin Hart stepped down as Academy Awards host in January after homophobic tweets were revealed and he failed to apologise this year for them, leaving the 2019 Oscars hostless. It's a shame Graham Norton wasn't asked…

Ellen DeGeneres topped the polls as the most favourable Oscar's host, taking 29 percent of the participants' favourite vote, and Whoopi Goldberg came second with 20 percent. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin had 14 percent of the vote as a comedic duo.

31 percent of Irish people want A Star Is Born to sweep the ceremony, and hope for Gaga to win Best Actress (39 percent) and Bradley Cooper as Best Actor (32 percent). They do have outrageously great chemistry… and he should have gotten the Best Director nod too. I stand by that,

Have you ever been to a wedding where you have to endure the speeches BEFORE you were served the starter?

It's a long enough day, and no matter how hard we try to pay attention to the funny stories being told at the top table – our rumbling stomachs completely distract us.

It's pure torture, right? And all your want is to lock your lips around some grub.

We imagine at the Golden Globes something similar goes down – so, here comes Melissa McCarthy to the rescue.

The absolute legend smuggled in 30 sandwiches into the award ceremony and began handing them out.

Celebs got to satisfy their hunger pangs with a good old traditional ham and cheese combo.

Confirming the smuggling of the food items, Melissa told Variety: “I’ve been handing them out to everyone."

And for 2020, Melissa is planning to go bigger: “Next year, I’m bringing hot dogs,” she added – Brilliant.

The food seemed to go down a treat as Olivia Colman even referenced them in her acceptance speech.

Actress Jessica Chastain asked the question everyone wanted to know: "How did she get them in here?” she wondered.

“But it’s a good idea because by the time you get into the ballroom dinner has already been served, and you’re always so hungry,” she added.

Did Melissa tape them to her body? Have a hidden picnic basket smuggled in? – We may never find out.

However, the actress didn't opt for cheap and cheerful sandwiches, as the pic of the item given to Variety shows that it was from Joan's on Third.

The “fromager d’affinois and apricot glazed ham” sandwich will set you back 7.95 US dollars (£6.24/€6.95) a piece – so she's a true friend.

What a hero.

If there’s one group of people who’ve suffered the most at the hands of Twitter, it’s celebrities.

From memes of their faces rehashed to suit any occasion to GIFs preserving the moments they’d rather forget, it really must be tough at the top.

But as Hugh Grant, Kate Hudson, Melissa McCarthy, Ryan Gosling and others prove in this latest clip, sometimes it’s best to take the Internet with a pinch of salt.

Here’s the tenth episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Mean Tweets:

Hollywood has long been criticised for its portrayal of the ‘ideal’ woman and it seems even those inside the movie industry are fed up with this image.

Among those calling for the ‘average’ woman to be represented in film is actress Melissa McCarthy.

The Bridesmaids star recently told the Daily Mail that “for so long, we weren't showing real women” on screen and instead were limiting the female ideal to the picture perfect model.

She said: “We were showing perfect women – they wore the perfect thing, they never got upset.  I don't know any of those women.”

“I know women and men that are every colour and mood and emotion.  Don't be surprised when you see interesting, multi-dimensional women.”

“That's the goal.  We're not supposed to be perfect; we are supposed to be real."

The American comedian explained that she finds “flawed” women to be powerful on-screen because they better mirror the woman we encounter in everyday life.

She said: “I think it's always incredibly powerful when we see, in films and in art, the women that we are surrounded by.  I am surrounded by strong, flawed, funny, heroic, crazy, loving women.”

Melissa’s comments were supported by her Ghostbusters director Paul Feig who told Today online: “I think ladies make really good ghostbusters.  They are able to think on their feet, very nimble out there, able to do the action, able to fight, but also to be smart and use psychology to get around them.”

If you’re excited for the Gilmore Girls revival, then take in a load of this.

The costume designer for the reunion series, Brenda Maben, shared a snap of Melissa McCarthy all dressed up as Sookie St. James, and we are literally brimming with delight.

And also in the snap, is everyone’s beloved grump, Michél.

Most recently, the name for the upcoming show was announced: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and it will be made up of four 90-minute episodes.

However, they’re keeping us on our toes with no premiere date mentioned yet.

We’re hoping it’s super soon though.

Filming for next years Gilmore Girls revival is already underway, but one cast member's presence has yet to be confirmed – Melissa McCarthy.

Although Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke) and a whole host of others are already on board for the four-part reunion, there's been a lot of back-and-forth about Melissa's participation on the show.

Now Melissa has revealed that she most likely won't be reviving her role as Sookie – though she insists there's no bad blood and that it was simply a matter of scheduling.

"I don't think I am [coming back]," she told E! News this week while promoting her new film, The Boss.

"I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."

Though she won't feature in the revival, Melissa promised that she'd be tuning in with the rest of the fans.

"I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them."

With both Ghostbusters and The Boss coming out this year, it's no surprise that Melissa might have less time on her hands than her former co-stars, but we're still holding out hope for a cameo.

But despite Melissa's reservations, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino admitted she'd happily write in a last-minute part if it came down to it.

"Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I'll write her a scene," she said last year.

"Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game."

Fingers crossed.

After Melissa McCarthy tweeted that she wasn't asked back for the Gilmore Girls reboot, it's safe to say that many of us were outraged on her/Sookie's behalf. She was one of our favourites, after all.

But some eagle eyed social media users have noticed a few things popping up in recent days that seem very suspicious.

The actress was seen in a photo of one of the cast members, Yanic Truesdale a.k.a. MICHEL.

Yep, Michel, Lori's longtime grumpy employee that we all loved (because that grumpiness is secretly how we all feel).

Now, here's where it gets tricky. In the caption, Yanic wrote: Scotch, great meal and catching up with my old friend @melissamccarthy, can't ask for more! Don't read anything into it guys."

Note: We KNOW he said don't read anything into it, but come on guys, these two in the same place, at the same time can't be completely innocent.. right?… RIGHT?

Last week, it was confirmed that a reboot of Gilmore Girls will be coming to Netflix really soon. And it's safe to say that just about every fangirl completely freaked out.

And, when we learned that our fave characters were confirmed for the reunion, Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Sean Gunn (Kirk), and Keiko Agena (Lane), we freaked out even more.

But, one fan noticed that someone was missing from the reunion line-up and took to Twitter to ask Melissa McCarthy if she will be gracing the reboot with her presence as the loveable chef, Sookie.

Awkwardly enough, Melissa wrote back to the fan on Twitter and said that she wasn't invited back. Ouch.

"Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow.,” she wrote. “Wish them all the best!!”

At least she doesn't sound bitter about it, but we would have loved to see her come back.

There’s something a bit satisfying about seeing celebrities BEFORE they became famous.

And usually that comes along with a weird hair do or less-than-fashionable clothes. But not this time.

Anne celebrated her People's Choice Awards nomination for Favourite Movie Actress by posting high school yearbook photos of fellow nominees Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansson, Melissa McCarthy, and Sandra Bullock.

Usually, if someone posted an old photo of you, it would be a nightmare but these ladies look just as good then as they do now.

Can we just note how well Meryl Streep has aged?! You go, girl!

Just yesterday funny-woman Jenny McCarty shared a sweet childhood photo of her and her cousin on Instagram.

The 42-year old captioned the image “me, my sis and my cousin Melissa 102 degrees at the zoo, not happy campers. #tbt.”

While Jenny has three sister, we were very interested to find out that this cousin was none other than Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy. The 44-year old actress and her cousin are now both successful Hollywood stars, but it doesn’t look like they were strutting any red carpets as kids.

In the past the relationship between the pair has been thought to be somewhat tense.

A photo posted by Jenny McCarthy (@jennyannmccarthy) on

Last year Jenny was denying any rumours that she had made fun of her cousin’s size in an interview with People magazine. She said that “nothing could be further from the truth”.

Formerly a host on TV series The View, she went on to say: “There is a crazy story going around that I once told my cousin, Melissa, that she would have to lose weight in order to get into show business.”

She explained that was untrue and in fact she actually helped Melissa get her first job in show business so she could “learn the ropes”. She also praised all of Melissa’s success and hard work.

“She has accomplished everything she has accomplished through hard work and her extraordinary talent.”

Jenny further dismissed any claims that she was not inviting Melissa to her wedding to fellow actor Donnie Wahlberg. She said the reports from the National Enquirer were “ridiculous”.

“Donnie and I are planning a very intimate ceremony that will involve a very small group of our closest friends and that's it – not a huge production with hundreds of friends and extended families.”

The wait is finally over for Melissa McCarthy and fashion fans alike as yesterday the star revealed the first images of her Seven7 line.

Photographs published by Vogue show the line has got something for everyone. Melissa said herself that: “I want you to wear it how you want to.”

From black and white printed co-ordinates to sophisticated silk wrap tops and skirts there really is something for everyone, not matter what your mood.

She calls the collection a “basic closet” that she just couldn’t find herself. The designs will be available in U.S sizes 4 to 28 (UK size 8 to 30).

The Bridesmaids actress, 44, said that her inspiration for the line came from wanting a collection that she could comfortably adapt no matter what her mood.

“Some days I want to be prim and proper, and others I want to be in a band.”

We understand the struggle, and we appreciate a designer wanting our wardrobes to be a less stressful place with plenty of options.

She also noted that she aims to keep the line at an affordable price level with no piece going over the price of €130. Melissa says that she doesn’t want shoppers to “have to make a choice about going out to dinner or getting the sweater.”

Fashion was something that Melissa has always dreamed of making a career out of as she explained that comedy and acting were never her end-goal.

“Fashion is always what I thought I would do,” she explained to Vogue. “I went into clothing and textiles in college and moved here with [shoe designer] Brian Atwood. I was going to finish at FIT and he made me do stand-up on the second night.”

We think that this collection is going to have plenty of admirers. It is set to be released in the U.S on September 1 and we’re waiting impatiently for an announcement about this side of the Atlantic.
