As if we weren’t already excited about the Ghostbusters remake. Guess who just joined the already A-list filled cast, only our favourite Hemsworth brother (sorry Liam).

Yes, Chris Hemsworth has been announced as joining the female-led cast in the receptionist’s role.

Originally played by Annie Potts, Chris is taking over the role to star alongside Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Melissa McCarthy.

Confirming the online speculation of whether or not the receptionist role would be included in the remake’s gender-swapping theme, director Paul Feig made the announcement via Twitter.

So now not only do we have the chance to see some of our favourite funny ladies reunited on-screen, there’s going to be bonus hot guys too? Hurrah!

The 2014 world’s sexiest man had reportedly turned down the role earlier in the production process because it wasn’t scripted as a lead role.

Paul and writer Katie Dippold have since, god bless them, made the role more prominent. We applaud his stance; after all, it’s got to be hard to downsize to administrator after previously being demi-god Thor of the Marvel Avengers universe.

And it’s not just Mr Hemsworth that we get to admire in the new Ghostbusters universe. Rumour has it that he may have to share the screen with fellow sexiest man alive alum Channing Tatum. Yes please.

There isn’t an awful lot else known about the reboot, but the director said recently that "I knew I needed four people who were very different and yet would be funny together.”

Nevertheless, the director also faced an awful lot of backlash online since announcing the female-led project. However, as he himself said; “I honestly think it might be the better way to do it. So look, hate me if you will, I don't know what to tell you.”

After casting this Australian heart-throb and with rumours spreading that Mr Channing might join in the fun too, we could never hate you Paul. Never.

Comedy blockbuster Spy had its New York premiere last night and all eyes were on Melissa McCarthy as she hit the red carpet.

The actress looked amazing in a dress of her own design beside co-star Rose Byrne, who also starred alongside her in Bridesmaids.

Melissa's ivory dress showed off her curves to perfection… as well as her noticeably slimmer figure.

The comedy actress recently shed 50 lbs through a high-protein and low-carb diet and you could really see the amazing results as she strutted her stuff last night.

Speaking about her weight loss recently, the actress said she is wary of passing on body image issues to her daughters, five-year-old Vivian and two-year-old Georgette.

"Sometimes I wish I were just magically a size 6 and I never had to give [my weight] a single thought…[but] I don’t beat myself up about it—it wouldn’t help and I don’t want to pass that on to my girls," she explained in a recent interview with Good Housekeeping.

This dress is part of her new line, Melissa McCarthy seven7, which launches online in August of this year.

Through this brand Melissa says she is hoping to empower women as this is a clothing line that is not just plus size, but all sizes. The collection will begin with a casual sportswear line and will then expand to a more contemporary line in 2016.

Melissa, who previously stated that designers refused to dress her, will include sizes four to 28 in her new range.

In the June issue of More the actress said she hopes to change people's perception of beauty. "There is just this weird thing about how we perceive women in this country. I would love to be a part of breaking that down," she admitted.

Spy hits theatres this Friday.

You know those hideous old-school photos we all have that we hope will never see the light of day?

Well luckily for us, making it as far as Facebook is probably as bad as it gets.

So spare a thought for everyone's favourite comedy actress, Melissa McCarthy, who was forced to explain her very dodgy headshots on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show.

In front of millions of viewers and sandwiched between Jude Law and Chris Pratt, the Bridesmaids star haltingly revealed the reason why her professional snaps weren't exactly what you'd expect of a successful Hollywood actress.

As usual, Melissa charms everyone as she reveals why she was wearing a Barbie's cowboy hat and homemade earrings in photos she actually hoped would land her a job,

Well, if anyone could pull it off, it's Melissa, right?!

As if we needed any more reasons to absolutely love Melissa McCarthy, the amazing actress this week revealed how she gave the most epic comeback to a sexist movie critic.

Opening up on the incident in an interview with Entertainment Weekly this week, the Bridesmaids star recalled how the critic had approached her to compliment her on her performance in the movie St. Vincent.

As it turns out, however, this critic was the same one who said that McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone – who directed the movie Tammy – should never be allowed to direct her again, as he made her look ‘too homely’ in her role.

McCarthy took the opportunity to call the critic out for his review, asking him: “Are you the one who wrote I was only a good actor when I looked more attractive, and that my husband should never be allowed to direct me because he allowed me to look so homely?”

When the critic admitted to writing the review, Melissa continued: “When John C. Reilly, or any male actor, is playing a character that is depressed and dejected, would you say, ‘Well, you look terrible’?”

Melissa revealed that she then went on to ask the critic if he had a daughter; when he replied that he did, she added: “Do you tell her she’s only worthwhile or valid when she’s pretty?”

The star, who is herself a mother of two daughters, went on to describe sexism in Hollywood as “an intense sickness”.

We’re delighted that Melissa got to have her say to that critic. We bet her response gave him plenty of food for thought.

When it was announced last year that a third Ghostbusters film was in the pipeline AND that it would have an all-female cast, we just about exploded with excitement

Well, that cast has finally been announced, and it has definitely lived up to expectation.

As predicted, Melissa McCarthy will star in the Paul Feig-directed movie, alongside comedy heavyweight Kristen Wiig and her fellow SNL stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. WIN!

Although the news has not been explicitly confirmed, Paul tweeted this collage of the four actresses yesterday, strongly hinting that they were the chosen stars:

Given that Paul was the mastermind behind Bridesmaids, it's no surprise that he chose to cast Melissa and Kristen together… for their dancing skills if nothing else:

The film is set to be released in July 2016. We can't wait for the first teaser trailer!

Bridesmaids has to go down as one of the funniest chick flicks of recent years, so naturally, we’re all bursting for a sequel.

And while previous interviews with cast and crew made it look like it may never happen, one of the film’s biggest stars has just given us fresh hope.

Melissa McCarthy, who played the hilarious Megan Price in the movie, has said that she would be all for reprising her role in a follow-up instalment.

Use your powers of persuasion, Melissa!

Speaking in a recent radio interview, the award-winning actress said: “I had such a good time doing that movie. Every single day on that movie was ridiculously fun.”

“At some point, if Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo say, ‘You know what, we wrote another one’, I would be tickled pink to do it,” she added.

While the movie cleaned up during awards season, producer Judd Apatow previously admitted that he was reluctant to undertake a sequel unless the script could do justice to the original.

“The key is we have to come up with an idea that is as good, or better than the first one,” he said at the time.

With a cast and crew like that on board, we’re sure they are up to the challenge.

Fingers crossed that Melissa’s enthusiasm sets the wheels in motion!

Director Paul Feig has finally confirmed the news that Ghostbusters 3 is in the pipeline, after years of speculation.

Bill Murray and co won't be reuniting to flight the slime this time around though – Paul also revealed on Twitter that he'll be using an all-female cast:

No-one's been fully confirmed as yet but there are some pretty solid rumours. Bill Murray himself even had a stab recently at guessing who might star, and we like the combo he came up with: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Linda Cardellini and Emma Stone. Sounds about right to us!

As Paul was the brain behind Bridesmaids and Arrested Development, it's likely there'll be some big female comedy names in the cast and we definitely have our fingers crossed for Kristen and Melissa.

His writing partner Katie Dipold also wrote The Heat, the hilarious cop comedy starring Melissa along with Sandra Bullock. All very positive signs!

Sadly, the new movie will not be linked to any plotlines from the previous Ghostbusters instalments – which means no Bill or Dan Aykroyd. Boo!

Still though, we can't wait to see how it'll work with the new cast!

Bill Murray must be sick of being asked if there’s another Ghost Busters on the way, so he was probably delighted when one journalist took a different slant on it and asked him who he’d like to see in an all-female version!

“Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny – God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini (Mad Men) a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”

There sure are, Bill! We love his casting choices – the man has good taste! Melissa McCarthy, who is in a new film called St. Vincent with Bill, added:

“I think that somebody is really trying to do it, but nobody has talked to me about it.

“Listen, if the people I think are doing it are doing it, I must never question them.”

Hmmm… could she mean Paul Feig, the director of Bridesmaids and The Heat?! Fingers crossed!

Melissa McCarthy became a household name thanks to her hit film Bridesmaids, but despite all of her fame and success the actress said she wasn’t always confident about herself in her early years.

“In my 20s I used to cry about why I wasn’t thinner or prettier, but I want to add that I also used to cry about things like: ‘I wish my hair would grow faster. I wish I had different shoes …I was an idiot … It’s a decade of tears.”

Melissa said she’s grown past her insecurities but is still aware of the nasty comments surrounding her acting and weight.

“I’ve never felt like I needed to change. I’ve always thought, ‘If you want somebody different, pick somebody else.’ But sure, criticism can sometimes still get to me. Some things are so malicious, they knock the wind out of you.”

Melissa said it’s thanks to her family and her supportive husband Ben Falcone that she now has more confidence in her abilities.

Actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy has revealed the reason she decided to design a plus-size clothing line.

Melissa was talking to Redbook magazine when she spoke about the difficulty she had in finding a dress for the 2011 Oscars, saying: “Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anyone to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers … Very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people, and they all said no.”

The Bridesmaids star also spoke about the hard time she has when shopping: “When I go shopping, most of the time I’m disappointed.”

Thankfully, Melissa knows exactly what is important in life – and it isn’t fame or the “perfect” body: “Success doesn’t define us [her and her husband], even though we love what we do. The important thing is our family and kids.”

Well, we hope those silly designers are kicking themselves now!
