Congratulations are in order for Glenda Gilson!

She has become a mum and has just given birth to her first child, a beautiful baby boy.

And how adorable is the name? Little Bobby Mac was born last night weighing 7lbs.

The presenter and her husband, Rob Macnaughton, are "over the moon" following baby Bobby's arrival.

"Bobby Mac arrived into the world at 11.16pm weighing 7lbs," Rob announced on Instagram.

"Both mummy and little man doing well & Daddy over the moon."

And it is understood the little one arrived earlier than expected; he was due to be born in early November.

The couple said previously they were ecstatic to meet their new arrival after they had enjoyed married life together.

"Myself and Rob are over the moon. We said we wanted a year to enjoy just being married. That went by so quickly."

"It couldn’t have happened at a better time. We’ve had our fun, we’ve had our nights out, we’ve enjoyed our time together and got ourselves a little dog. We’re just delighted really, really happy,” she said of the pregnancy.

Amy Schumer has announced her pregnancy in the best way.

The actress and known political activist decided to debut her big news while informing people about the ongoing U.S. election.

“Countdown to midterms…plus a baby scoop,” she hinted.

“I’m pregnant – Amy Schumer,” she wrote adding fireworks to Amy’s photoshopped royal picture.

Jessica is a former CNN Chief White House Correspondent and actively advocates Democratic candidates.

So, it is only fitting that Amy is using her big baby news to direct people to a political cause she truly cares about.

The Trainwreck star married chef Chris Fischer in a secret Malibu wedding in February.

She looked gorgeous in her surprise wedding photos that were simply captioned: “Yup.”

Gender bias in the medical industry is becoming increasingly more prominent as a direct result of women sharing their stories and opening up about their experiences with pain and illness.

Just last year, a study carried out by the Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health found that women are less likely to be given CPR. Men were more likely to survive cardiac arrest in a public place by a massive 23%.

This year alone, the CervicalCheck scandal has rightfully caused outrage in Ireland, when it was reported that hundreds of smears were in fact out-of-date, which resulted in the wrongful diagnosis of numerous women who could have survived if they had been given the accurate results in time. Only mere weeks ago, cervical cancer sufferer and campaigner Emma Mhic Mathúna died aged 37, a mother of five.

In tragic and life-altering instances such as these, women deserve compassion and respect in their healthcare journeys, it has since been reported that doctors were told to "use their own judgement" regarding whether or not to tell patients about their misdiagnosis.

The right to information surrounding your own body should be the lowest bar set, it cannot simply be a privilege for the few. Bodily autonomy has never been an equal playing field for men and women.

Vicky Phelan sued the US laboratory who wrongfully interpreted the results and was awarded €2.5 million in compensation by the High Court, after finding out in September 2017 that her 2011 smear test was a false negative.

In 2016, researchers at University College London found that women with dementia receive worse medical treatment than their male counterparts with the same condition. I could go on.

Statistics and cases such as these may seem like aberrations in the system, yet so many women claim to experience sexism in their GP clinics, local hospitals and consultants offices every day.

Gender, race and poverty are undeniable biases in healthcare- none of these should ever be ignored.

Sexism has been a major factor in medicine since time began, from Aristotle’s declaration that the female form is naturally inferior, to the connection of the uterus with apparent female “hysteria” in the middle ages, trying to get a doctor to empathise with female pain can be draining and hugely frustrating.

This is not helped by the fact that the majority of consultants and specialists are male, and are rarely trained to spot female symptoms or female illnesses in the same detail as those of the male body.

It may seem absurd in this day and age that the Victorians confined women to asylums, whether they showed any evidence of mental illness or not, but doubt still leaks into clinics and hospitals when it comes to female pain.

The fact that women have to go through the most difficult time to get a diagnosis of female illnesses such as fibromyalgia and endometriosis speaks volumes into the lack of funding which goes into researching these diseases, which affect thousands of women nationwide.

Fibromyalgia is still suspended in the disbelief of numerous practitioners, despite women pertaining symptoms for years at a time without gaining any appropriate treatment.

Lady Gaga has recently spoken out as a sufferer of this condition, asking for better healthcare to treat this complex disease which causes total body pain.

Women are portrayed as hysterical hypochondriacs, and men are constantly depicted as the silent stoic types, who refuse to show weakness in the form attending a prostate exam that could save their life.

The Girl Who Cried Pain represents a 2001 study by Anita Tarzian and Diane Hoffman which examined pain management and gender. It showed clearly that women were far less likely to be given pain relief or long-term medication for pain (drugs such as Gabapentin, Lyrica and Amitriptylene), and it also revealed that women are less likely to gain the adequate treatment by healthcare providers.

Ask Me About My Uterus by Abby Norman is another fascinating read which describes her torturous experience of trying to get a diagnosis for her endometriosis, a dangerous illness where uterine tissue grows on organs outside of the womb. Often the only treatment is sedatives, or a hysterectomy. Endometriosis UK has claimed that despite the illness affecting 1 in 10 women, it takes an average of nine years to get a diagnosis.

I had to beg my own consultant for a laparoscopy exam after two relentless years of chronic abdominal pain, and he stopped my GP from prescribing me my vital pain medication after claiming that there was “no reason” for my pain. AKA, he didn’t believe me.

I have since been diagnosed in the US after three years with a congenital pain condition where I was born with a vast excess of nerve endings at the base of my spine, which affects over 13% of women, and yet not a single doctor in Ireland or Britain could offer any treatment or advice.

When I went to America, the specialist who has thousands of female patients who travel across America to see him told me that he is refused funding daily for his clinical trials and research into female pain, for the reason that all the funding is instead siphoned into drugs aimed at male pleasure, despite there already being several high-quality treatments.

According to PubMed, there are currently over 2,000 trials focusing on erectile dysfunction, and a grand total of 300 on EVERY TYPE of female pain.

If you don’t believe that stigma and sexism is prevalent in healthcare, maybe question why it’s so easy for a man to walk out of a GP clinic with a prescription for Viagra, yet it takes a woman in excruciating pain nine years to get told she has endometriosis, a life-long illness.

Since 1995, it has been confirmed that women experience stimuli at a more intense level than men.

Women have a proven different experience of pain than men, surely they deserve to be taken as seriously?

Yet society has conditioned women to ignore their pain, to handle it with clenched teeth and no complaints.

If you’re going to focus entirely on male pleasure, don’t ignore female pain, because it won’t be kept silent.

You might remember them as your favourite brother-sister duo on TV: Josh and Megan.

We obsessed over Megan's evil tricks, and laughed at her and Josh's family dynamic all the way throughout our own childhoods.

You also probably still remember Josh’s iconic hushed whisper of “Megan….” whenever she played one of her iconic pranks on his character in the Nickelodeon show Drake and Josh.

This video by Los Angeles vlogger David Dobrik showing the two reuniting will honestly make you explode with nostalgia.

In the video, Dobrik is seen telling Josh Peck that he has a present “from Josh’s sister”, meaning Megan, of course.

After opening the gift from his little sis, Peck’s face was met with a pan full of whipped cream. Clearly, Miranda Cosgrove wasn’t finished playing pranks on her gullible Drake & Josh big bro. Never change, Megan, you evil genius.

When the two meet, it’s clear how delighted they both are to see each other after a whopping four year gap: “This is both of my worlds colliding! You look like a grown-up!” Josh exclaims.

Miranda responds by telling him, “You look good, boob.” Classic Megan.

Josh also jokingly told Miranda that he was “sorry I didn't invite you to my wedding. Thank you for not tweeting about it.”

There was MAJOR wedding-related drama last year regarding Josh not inviting Drake Bell to his nuptials to long-term girlfriend Paige O’Brien.

Bell was upset he didn’t get an invite from his Nickelodeon brother, and tbh so were we.

Apparently the drama has since died down, and the two are now getting along nicely. We hope…

Josh and Miranda marked the occasion with matching Instagram snaps, because if there isn’t photographic evidence these days, did it really happen?

First things first, I learnt far more from the film industry’s female ‘villains’ than I did from the so-called ‘heroines’. The ‘villains’ are simply exaggerated versions of the women some of us are desperate to be, but don’t feel brave enough to cast off the mask.

maleficent GIF

As far as Hollywood is concerned, there are only two types of women- it’s your typical scenario of the femme fatale, a deviant who utilises her wily powers of seduction, or the Virgin Mary.

The angel or the devil, the child-like heroine or the evil queen. It’s limited at best, but there’s something so fascinating about the ‘villains’, they are more anti-hero than purely evil. No hero is all good, and no villain is all bad.

Society has always been suspicious of powerful women, it demonises them to try and create a backlash, to attempt to convince us that their ambition is wrong. It also plays the insanity card WAY too often to disregard them.

harley quinn suicide girls GIF

Think of all your classic Disney villains, most of them are childless. This creates the preconception immediately that they are somehow unnatural, they are barren and cold and ruthless.

Ursula, the Queen of Hearts, the White Witch, Miranda Priestley, Bellatrix Lestrange.

Anything and everything is done to use the audiences’ preconceived idea of the natural to focus your judgements on how inherently wrong it is for a woman to want more than the cards she has been dealt.

After all, the idea of a witch came about from fear of female sexuality in the 15th century, women who were single and childless were assumed to be evil.

charlize theron GIF

We are fixated on these women because they revel in being all the things that we are told we simply cannot be. They allow themselves to get angry, to take action, to get even.

Most of the time they are just portrayed as being obsessed with regaining their youth through whatever means necessary, they use their jealousy to punish young and beautiful female characters. They sneer, they cackle, they are impeccably dressed, and their red lipstick is ALWAYS on point.

Personally I think this is an insult to women everywhere, we are complicated beings and beauty isn’t the pinnacle of our world.

It’s the pinnacle of what our society expects us to be for success and happiness, but women deserve better stories than this. Evil comes in all shapes and sizes, motives can often have substance and a moral grey area.

killbilledit GIF

They define transgression, and cross the imaginary borders into the dark unknown where society has ostracised them. They more than likely live in a lair, with some kind of animal side-kick, and don some luxurious fur coat.

They also always do this while looking flawlessly evil, and are more than likely single. They are portrayed as being loners, as being unwanted, precisely for desiring more than what they are supposed to. The poor men who cross their path are either demolished, disgusted or destroyed.

the little mermaid ursula GIF

Let’s take a look at some of the film industry’s most fabulous villainesses, and we guarantee you that some higher knowledge will be dropped by these fierce females.

Miranda Priestley: Dropping the knowledge bombs left, right and centre.

Based on the Vogue editor-in-chief Anne Wintour, Meryl Streep perfectly embodied the uberboss who terrorised interns day and night, who could make anyone cry over a cerulean blue sweater, and whose soft spoken voice could tear you down brick by brick and leave your self-esteem in tatters.

Meryl Streep Sunglasses GIF by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

A simple “that’s all” and her classic arched eyebrow is all that’s ever needed to destroy everything you thought you knew.

Impossible to please, manipulative, and yet every intern who was unlucky enough to cross her path ended up with the thickest skin imaginable, and this later became their best asset in the cut-throat fashion industry.

A top female executive’s main priority is to teach those who come after her to be the best, because most of the time mediocre men can reach heights that only exceptional women get the opportunity to jump for.

the devil wears prada fashion GIF

Miranda also epitomises the female sacrifice, and society’s obsession with rating women’s worth by their appearances.

The second she has seemingly lost her youth, they replace her with a younger model who is not even close to being as qualified as her.

It’s the only time we ever see a crack in her ice-cold persona, and the audience is given a glimpse into her life, which has revolved around a fashion publication. Her marriage, her family, her career; the impossible juggling balance that every woman is expected to do, like walking tightrope in a circus.

Miranda is fierce as hell, serves blunt reality checks to everyone in sight, and never wastes her time with pretending to be the glowing subservient heroine.

She shows the industry how good she is at her job, without the façade of aiming to please.

Second, is of course, Regina George. The woman who has everyone feeling victimised, second guessing their wardrobe choices and cutting holes in their t-shirts.

mean girls blow kiss GIF by Hollywood Suite

Regina is the constant reminder that appearances and perception go hand-in-hand.

Image is often pivotal to society’s understanding of women, but some of the most famous female characters have twisted this in their favour.

Regina George is queen of the put-downs, every girls wants to be her and every guy wants to get with her. Her power is the shallow angle of popularity, and she uses it to perfection.

Amy Dunne from Gone Girl is another classic example of a beautiful woman using her perceived image to manipulate those around her.

Gone Girl GIF

If you’ve seen the boxcutter scene from the film, you’ll have realised just how evil Amy really is, and how intelligent.

She is easily one of the most dedicated villainesses you’ll see on screen, committing to her plot so much that she writes an entire fake diary to frame her husband of her murder, and writhes around in bucketfuls of blood. Bit much?

Evil in many ways for these characters is constrained by their womanhood; their identity is that of a jealous wife, a vengeful mother, or a scorned partner whose husband has been having an illicit affair.

These stereotypical gender notions limit their depth and complexity which is given to nearly every male villain, they are expected to fit a single mould and heavily penalised if they don’t. These villains push the boundaries, and don’t care about likeability, a rebellious act in today’s world.

101 dalmatians animation GIF

Some of the scariest female villains are those that inflict evil on other women, after all, gals need to stick together. Of the many lessons we can learn from a decent villainess, it’s that women are not the fragile creatures in need of protection that many heroines are conveyed to be.

The most badass female villains twist cultural norms of femininity into something else entirely. We need some more Dark Ladies to get the ideal balance, to show realistic, three-dimensional female characters on screen and on paper.

Power makes poison, but every villainess is a heroine in her own mind.

Longing to get away from the dreary winter weather we're having?

Then this news is bound to put a smile on your face – Ryanair is having a flash seat sale.

Fly to destinations like Paris, Edinburgh, London, Hamburg (and many more) from just €9.99.

Other destinations, including Paris, Berlin, Santander, Amsterdam, Milan, Nice and Athens, come with a ticket price of under twenty quid.

The budget airline tweeted about their sale, and while some were delighted to hear of the cheap seats, others brought up a racism controversy the airline is currently caught up in.

Over the weekend, footage emerged of a male Ryanair flight passenger verbally abusing a fellow passenger.

In the footage, a man in a window seat refused to sit next to an elderly woman of colour seated in an aisle seat.

The man hurled insults at the woman, told her he would push he out of her seat if she did not move seats, and called her an 'ugly black b*stard' before the flight took off.

When the woman spoke to him he responded, 'Don't talk to me in a f*cking foreign language, you stupid, ugly cow.'

When pressed for a statement to the footage, Ryanair tweeted that they had reported the matter to the police.

We are in the midst of royal baby mania; all eyes are on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they continue their tour of Australia, baby bump in tow.

The couple's first child is due in the spring of next year, and naturally, the public is as excited as the parents-to-be themselves. Baby names, royal protocol, it's all currently the subject of intense speculation, but the royal couple is keeping sweetly quiet about it all. Well, almost.

It seems Prince Harry can't contain his enthusiasm about his future son or daughter, and an adorable moment that was captured on video, he can be heard revealing his gender preference for his first child to a fan in Australia.

"I hope it's a girl!" a well-wisher can be heard saying to the Duke of Sussex. "So do I," Harry happily responds.

Meghan, who is reportedly around 14 weeks pregnant, is said to be doing fine with Harry encouraging her to rest and pace herself.
