If you're on Instagram, there's a pretty high chance you follow at least one food-focussed influencer, right?

The vast majority of us take inspiration from their creations, take heed of their gastronomy advice, and positively salivate over their uploads on a daily basis.

And as these influencers help to add more than a splash of colour to the Irish foodie scene, we were only dying to pay tribute to them at our inaugural SHEmazing HP Awards on May 4.

Fighting off competition from Yummy Dublin, Cocu, The Happy Pear and Gastro Gays, Ketty Elisabeth, the face of French Foodie in Dublin, took the crown.

Authentic, passionate and utterly charming, Ketty started her blog in 2012 and has watched it grow in popularity over the past five years.

Celebrating the win, she wrote: "I still can't believe it. It was down to public vote and there were some awesome people in the final, I really didn't think I'd won."

"Mr. FFID and I attended the very glamorous ceremony at the Mansion House and being there was already brilliant but then when Daniella Moyles announced me as winner (after a long pause that seemed endless) I was completely astonished. It all happened thanks to YOU!"

"I'm so glad that even after almost five years, you think I'm still worthy of an award, value my blog and trust my recommendations. I'm very grateful for you taking the time to vote for me, even though most of you have never met me in real life."

"I was very touched by all the lovely comments on Facebook and Instagram from people who have been following for the last few years. I feel very lucky to have you and can't thank you enough."

"I've won awards in the past but this one is probably the most special because it happened during the week of my birthday and at a time when blogging and social media is changing a lot."

"As a foreign person it also means so much and warmed my heart," she added.

Congratulations, Ketty!

Mariah Carey is basically the queen of glam, and has now decided to open a beauty company.

The singer and her manager, Stella Bulochnikov, are planning to open their first beauty parlour in Beverly Hills.

An insider told Page Six: "Mariah and Stella are opening a business together, their own beauty company that they hope will feature their own products of makeup, skin care and fragrances.

The performer and her team were spotted viewing empty retail spaces in Beverly Drive, and knowing Mariah, bigger is most definitely better.

The move comes after she launched a collection with MAC last year, and after its major success, sources believe she wants to launch her own line by the end of this year.

However, her MAC collection wasn't the first venture she had into the beauty and fashion game.

Back in 2007, Elizabeth Arden released her hugely successful fragrance, M, and back in 2006 she released a jewellery and clothing line with Glamorized.

With all of this experience under her belt, it's no wonder she's launching a company of her own!

Following nationwide outrage over the decision to give ownership of the new National Maternity Hospital to the Religious Sisters of Charity, the group have given up ownership of St Vincent’s Healthcare Group.

Further to this, they will have no involvement in the maternity hospital on its campus.

According to emerging reports this morning, the healthcare group confirm that the Religious Sisters of Charity have relinquished their share.

Releasing a statement on the matter, St Vincent's Healthcare Group, said: “The nature of the Sisters' involvement in their healthcare operations has altered significantly in recent decades, from predominantly unsalaried healthcare professionals to the situation today where they have no direct involvement in the provision of healthcare."

"Consequently, the Sisters have for many years been engaged in an on-going strategic review of their healthcare facilities, especially SVHG.

"This has involved finding the way forward that best perpetuates the vision and values of Mary Aikenhead, which are dignity, compassion, justice, quality and advocacy.”

"The outcome of the process is that the Religious Sisters of Charity believe the future continued success of SVHG, and perpetuating the vision and values of Mary Aikenhead, can best be ensured by relinquishing their shareholding in SVHG, and transferring ownership of the group to a newly formed company with charitable status to be called "St. Vincent's."

Confirming the news, the Religious Sisters of Charity explained their stance on the matter.

"We believe that the future continued success of SVHG can best be ensured by our transferring ownership of the group to a newly formed company with charitable status to be called 'St Vincent’s'.”

"We are confident that the board, management and staff of SVHG will continue to maintain a steadfast dedication to providing the best possible acute healthcare to patients and their families in line with the values espoused by Mary Aikenhead.”

Listen, we don't go to Supermac's to get in our five-a-day.

We go to Supermac's, mostly in the early hours of the morning, to chomp on the deliciousness that is their chunky chips.

However, that could all soon be changing.

While speaking to The Capital B, the owner of Supermac's Pat McDonagh, said that the Irish food chain is changing with the times – and that means "healthy" chips.

"Healthy eating has come into the fore and everyone has to adjust, people focused on health food are doing quite well. They're taking up the idea that's come in from the US and ran with it.

"But you'll always have people who want to have a burger, what we've done is gone the fresh route with beef, the fresh route with chicken and we'll be going the fresh route with the chips in the not so distant future".

However, for us Negative Nancies who think there's nothing better than the original, crispy chip, Pat assures us that the side order will, indeed, taste better.

"You can't beat anything that's fresh, that's why the chicken sandwich tastes so good, it's because it's a fresh product. Anything that you freeze loses some of its quality.

"Likewise with the fresh meats, there's a better taste, better flavour, it's better quality across the board, and we know this because we're selling more of them".

We think we'll have to taste them for ourselves, Pat…

Female friendships are pretty complex; there’s the standard friendship and then there’s the BFF friendship.

And as you all know, the closer you are to someone, the more truthful, candid and downright insulting you will be.

While exchanges with friends generally result in the presentation of a sugar-coated version of your life, conversations with best friends are very, very different.

Diluted domestic scenarios are shared between friends while cold hard truths about family members are tossed between best friends.

Compliments flow between friends while insults take flight between best friends.

Women know the drill, but thanks to Hollywood, it’s no surprise that men have a very different understanding of what goes on when two women meet up to catch up.

Thankfully, Emma Doran and Jen Hatton are here to set them straight.

Look familiar?!

Hands up who basically thinks about their lunch the minute they finish their breakfast?!

Many of our days are based around food, but it turns out a lot of thought goes into choosing what we have for lunch.

A group of researchers decided to analyse the thought process behind how we decide what to eat once 1pm rolls around, and a few of the findings were pretty surprising.

Pasta penne with tomato and rucola

The researchers, from Canvas 8, asked 20 men and women from the UK about their lunch time preferences to discover why they chose the food they did.

Three of the biggest factors were convenience (38 per cent), taste (37 per cent) and price (35 per cent), which isn't really all thst surprising.

The next trend, which is a little bit more interesting, was the weather. If it was a sunny day, people generally went for something light, like a salad or a smoothie.

beverages, brunch, cocktail

However, if it was a damp and cold day (hello, Ireland!), then people opted for a heartier meal, like soup or creamy pasta.

But that's not all. Another factor that goes into the decision-making process is what colleagues and friends have for lunch (which includes going to a nice restaurant with your work wives once payday rolls around).

And last but not least, hangovers. Yep, hangovers also come into play, because if you're feeling a bit rotten from the night before, a carbohydrate-packed lunch is exactly what you reach for.

We can relate to that one.

From lifestyle and beauty to fashion and fitness, we have a community of truly devoted bloggers, and with an equally devoted following it's no surprise that focus often falls on each blogger's sense of style and feel for fashion.

Considering this, we thought it apt to pay tribute to influencers who inspire with each and every costume change, and at last week's inaugural SHEmazing HP Awards, that accolade went to the wonderful Rosie Connolly.

And while she may boast an incredible 137,000 followers, Rosie remains incredibly humble over her big win.

We were about to get excited when we heard temperatures would be up to 22 degrees this week, however Met Éireann has warned us to not whip out the shorts and tank tops just yet.

It is predicted that "changeable" weather will continue into the week ahead, however most days will be "breezy and cloudy."

Today, it will be "mostly cloudy at first with patches of rain, drizzle and fog and some heavy pockets of rain over parts of Leinster and Ulster."

However, as the day progresses, we will experience some "bright spells," with maximum temperatures reaching 15 to 19 degrees.

Tomorrow will be cloudy at first, with some rain, but will gradually brighten up with sunny spells developing into the day and highs of 19 degrees.

That's basically how it will be for the rest of the week, and as we reach the weekend, early indications say it will be "relatively cool and fresh with sunny spells and scattered showers."
