After learning that a Chanel bag is a more solid investment than a house, our fashion focused daydreams became that bit more luxurious.

And while it is obvious that designer goods will never come cheap, it seems there is no better place to splurge than on the other side of the Irish Sea.

Thanks to Brexit, the pound has fallen to a six year low against the euro which means the UK has some major deals to offer Irish fashion fans.

According to new research from Deloitte, designer goods now cost less in London – when compared in dollars – than anywhere in the world.

Earlier this month, a Speedy 30 Louis Vuitton handbag cost £645 ($802) in London, €760 ($850) in Paris and $970 in New York.

As reported by the BBC, China was the most expensive place to make the purchase, with the same piece costing 7,450 yuan or $1,115.

The argument for a shopping spree is quickly gaining pace.

At the height of their fame in the mid 1990s, Oasis were asked to contribute a track to an upcoming British movie, and due to a little miscommunication Noel Gallagher ultimately declined.

So basically, as the Britpop era gained momentum and Oasis were widely considered one of the best bands in the world, Danny Boyle approached the lads from Manchester and suggested they write a song for Trainspotting, but unfortunately for Danny, Noel wasn't having it.

And that, ladies, is because Noel failed to ask what the film was about, and assumed from the title it was about actual train spotters – a relatively twee pastime which he clearly felt wouldn't properly represent the Oasis brand.

"Danny is from near Manchester and he was very keen to have Noel Gallagher do something but there was a reason why he didn't do it," producer Andrew Macdonald recently recalled.

"He came to the launch party in Cannes, but I don't know why he didn't do a piece of music," he added, according to the Independent.

Filling in the blanks for the film's producer, costume designer, Rachel Fleming, explained that Noel had recently admitted his mistake.

"I met Noel at a thing the other week and he said to me: 'I would have done something, but honestly I thought it was about train spotters. I didn't know.' That's what he actually said."

Ah, Noel. Imagine Blur, Pulp and Iggy Pop made the same mistake?!

There are few situations as instantly infuriating as discovering a big yellow clamp welded to the wheel of your car.

Clamps leave you stranded, cost a bomb to remove and no one understands that you “genuinely just left the car there for a minute”.

Because of this, it is with great pleasure that we can report there will soon be a cap of €100 on clamp removal fees in Ireland thanks to a new law which is due to be signed in by the Minister for Transport.

According to the Irish Independent, the Vehicle Clamping Act was actually passed 17 months ago, but because a commencement order was not signed at the time, there has been a considerable delay in its introduction.

The decision will now be subject to a Dáil vote.

Remember the last time you managed to exert a little self-control and your period magically did everything you wanted?

No? Yeah, us neither.

And that's because no matter how much women might wish they had more control over their monthly cycle, once it arrives we're all basically along for the ride.

But as far as one lad from Essex is concerned, us women need a lesson or two in self control before we start demanding an end to tampon tax.

In an analogy which boggles the mind, 19-year-old Ryan Williams took to Twitter to compare menstruation to urination, and insists women should 'control their bladders'.

Yeah Ryan, because that makes complete sense.

In a move which suggests Ryan was asleep under the desk during Biology lessons, the helpful youngster suggested he thought they was a connection between a woman's bladder and her ability to control her need for sanitary products.

Unsurprisingly, Ryan has experienced more than a little pushback from men and women alike who were quick to provide him with a few handy anatomy lessons.

Sending Ryan some handy links, one Twitter user wrote: "Some information – I've chosen a version aimed a kids so you'll understand."

However, it looked like Ryan's pontificating may have had the desired effect on one woman, who wrote: "But what if it is how it works? What if we have just been thinking about this all wrong with our girl brains?"

She's right, you know. Damn it Ryan, you may just be onto something.

Having recently been linked to depression, often associated with weight gain and commonly blamed for breakouts, it’s safe to say the contraceptive pill has a bit of a bad rep.

But thankfully for its users, there could be one unusual benefit to taking progesterone only and combined pills – and no it’s not just the prevention of unplanned pregnancies.

Research conducted at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health suggests that the pill could help prevent common illnesses like the flu.

Taking female mice as participants, the study found that animals with higher levels of progesterone in their bodies had better functioning immune systems than those in possession of lower doses of the hormone.

Because progesterone is found in the majority of pills, those who’ve been prescribed the contraceptive could have boosted immune systems and therefore be better able to fight Winter ailments.

While it is still very early days, if the study’s findings are found to be applicable to humans, it would mean that the pill could have real benefits for parts of the body beyond the reproductive system.

Another day, another life-changing wine invention. Alexander Graham Bell who?

Now while we have to admit the name is less than classy, the ‘Guzzle Buddy’ is all about the action.

The wine-guzzling action that is.

Simply put, the Guzzle Buddy is a wine glass you pop on the top of your wine bottle, allowing you to cut out the middle man and go straight to the source.

Convenient eh?

“Plug it and chug it” is the charming instruction emblazoned on the Guzzle Buddy’s box – and while we’re far too responsible to promote excessive alcohol consumption, we’d be inclined to oblige, even for the one glass.

Oh, and as well as this, the invention is apparently a solution to the (not at all fictional) “wine wrist”, so who are we to argue with this totally believable health risk?

Well that's our Christmas pressies sorted.

When it comes to climate change and carbon footprint, Leonardo DiCaprio is a man on a mission.

But long before Leo began promoting environmental awareness, there was only one lad you could call when it came to these matters – and that lad was Captain Planet.

Between Captain Planet and the world's favourite Oscar-dodger, we'd be in safe hands, so it’s no real surprise that the 41-year-old actor has taken up the production reins when it comes to the long-awaited Captain Planet movie.

Only dying to take pollution down to zero, Paramount and Appian Way Productions are bringing the 90s cartoon into the 21st century, and if a quick glance through the cartoon’s archives are anything to go by, it’s in dire need of a modern twist.

We mean, just take a look at the chaos which ensued when the Planeteers took a trip across the pond and wound up in Northern Ireland.

After taking a trip down memory lane with Sean and Stuart, we're fairly sure, you – like us – have a few questions.

Why did Belfast look like an intergalatic wasteland? Why did Sean morph between an Irish and Scottish accent? And why did Captain Planet only care about the 'old people'?!

Unsurprisingly, YouTubers had a hard time wrapping their heads around the cartoon's assessment of the situation in Ulster, with one writing: "Captain Planet will be fondly remembered as the show that united the Irish Catholics and Protestants in cringe."

"I don't know what's more catastrophic. The destruction of his neighbourhood or their attempt at Irish accents," wrote another.

We're with them…

With Zayn penning an autobiography, Harry turning to acting and Niall releasing his first individual single, it was only a matter of time before Liam stepped forward with his post One D plans.

Having just signed a lucrative record deal with American label Republic Records, the 23-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce his excitement.

But as Liam celebrated the launch of his solo career, his fans started celebrating something else altogether.

I miss you!…the things you make me do home soon!

A photo posted by Liam Payne (@liampayne) on

Last night, the X Factor star became a trending topic on Twitter after writing: “Amazing to have signed to @RepublicRecords I am celebrating as I tweet thank you so much for accepting me to your roster of amazing artists.”

Initially fans started the hashtag “CongratsLiam” in response to the news, but as the tag gained momentum those who were a little late to the conversation thought followers were celebrating the confirmation of rumours that Liam is about to become a dad – something which has never been clarified by the star or his partner, Cheryl.

The situation quickly generated Twitter gold as users eventually figured out that “Chiam” had not shared any baby news *sadface*.

Between their new track, Shout Out To My Ex, and Perrie revealing that Zayn did indeed end their engagement by text, Little Mix haven't held back when it comes to Zayn-bashing recently.

But it looks like they may have gone too far if pushback on a recent Instagram post is anything to go by.

In a move which undoubtedly references Zayn's now infamously poor dance audition on The X Factor, Jade is seen being egged on by band mates while recreating Zayn's dodgy dancing.

Unfortunately for the ladies, however, not everyone was impressed by the blatant put-down, with many Instagram users calling the girls out on their 'childish' mudslinging.

"LM needs to grow up," wrote one follower. "I can't believe these chicks are 23 to 25 yr old women but yet act 6. Like it ain't Zayn's fault he's no Justin timberlake or Chris brown, when it comes to dancing."

"Would u like if someone make fun of u for something they thought u didn't do right am sure u won't," added another.

"Instead of LM making fun of Zayn's dance moves from the past, maybe they should learn how to act they age instead of immature, ignorant petty women," raged another.

Well, that went well…

With reactions ranging from, “This is honestly so disgusting”, to “If someone can make something like this, you're an artist”, to our favourite, “If only I was still in my McDonald's phase”, it’s fair to say this McDonald’s nail art is pretty polarising.

In the quite frankly hypnotising video posted on C Channel, a nail artist basically creates an entire McDonald’s Value Meal on the tips of someone’s fingers – and we can’t decide if it’s gross or cute.

And while we wouldn’t walk around with a double cheeseburger hanging off our nails ourselves (because it would probably just make us hungry tbh), we literally can’t look away.

The bit we do love though? The teeny tiny chips. Yes, we LOVE the chips. Mmm chips.

So ladies, what say ye to Maccy D nails?  Are you lovin' it?

Romance which blossoms in the Celebrity Big Brother house rarely stands the test of the time in the outside world, but while some contestants are more than happy to go their separate ways, others take pleasure in a little mud-slinging.

Proving he's a card-carrying member of the latter camp, Geordie Shore's Scotty T recently threw some serious shade at TOWIE's Megan McKenna who he cosied up to in the CBB house earlier this year.

Commenting on the drama currently escalating between Megan and Peter Wicks, Scotty showed little sympathy for Megan who recently learned that Pete had been sending X-rated snaps to former girlfriends.

During his MTV segment, Scotty weighed in on the controversy, saying: "At the end of the day he shouldn't have been doing it, but I don't understand why his ex bird went to the papers."

Sharing a snap of Megan looking pretty distraught, Scotty said: "Obviously she wasn't happy when she found out. I mean, look at this picture of her, man."

"Look at her f*cking face. That is sheer evil there, like." he said of the 24-year-old reality star.

Continuing to pour scorn on Megan, Scotty made reference to their own doomed romance, saying: "I mean I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her, man."

"I remember once on Big Brother she went to me 'If you ever do anything wrong, I'll cut your d*ck off,'" he claimed.

Don't hold back there…
