Your first day of college is kind of like starting at "big school" all over again. New location, new teachers, new pals, new books. It's only natural we'd assume that the new start means we'd automatically become a slick, carefree, stylish superstar who takes to university life like a duck to water.

Of course, it's not always like that, as this "expectations vs reality" video shows! If only all colleges had signs that said "This way to your lecture, Gary," we wouldn't have spent hours of our lives walking around like a lost child looking for our mammy.

As for the impossible-to-eat chicken fillet roll that leaves you covered in iceberg lettuce leaves… yep, that seems fairly accurate too. Oh, college. Best time of our life, is it?!

With a love for cooking, and her own baking book to her name, you may be surprised to hear that food wasn’t always The Great British Bake Off star Ruby Tandoh’s friend.

The 22-year-old, who sailed into the finals of last year’s show, has opened up on her difficult relationship with food, admitting that she once suffered from an eating disorder.

Ruby, who proved extremely popular during her stint on the show, makes the revelation in a new interview with Elle magazine, recalling her obsessive calorie counting and extreme dieting.

“I even went into modelling…to give my illness some justifying purpose. I dashed between castings with masochistic zeal, squeezing myself into sample clothes many sizes too small,” Ruby says.

Tracing the beginning of her problems back to when she started university, Ruby says cooking for others around her was her own special way of dealing with her issues.

Thankfully, Ruby has made it through that testing time of her life, and has gone on to enjoy considerable success since first hitting our screens on Bake Off last year. As well as having her own food column in The Guardian, she also released her own baking book, Crumb, last month.

We did have a soft spot for Ruby. Good on her; we wish her all the best with her career.

New research has found that women who display neurotic behaviour may be more at risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

The study, carried out by Swedish scientists, found that women who showed themselves to be anxious, jealous and moody in middle-age were twice as likely to develop the condition.

The research, carried out on 800 middle-aged women over a span of four decades, found that those who scored highest on tests for neuroticism in middle-age were especially prone to the disease, in direct contrast to their calmer counterparts.

Other factors that were taken into consideration during the test were the women’s levels of stress, and whether they were more of an extroverted or introverted person.

Speaking after the publication of the research report in health journal Neurology this week, its author, researcher Lena Johansson, said: “No other study has shown that [a type of] midlife personality increased the risk of Alzheimer’s disease over a period of nearly 40 years.”

She added that, with previous research indicating that the number of dementia sufferers is due to rise dramatically in the coming years, it is now even more important to be vigilant for its warning signs.

The staple white shirt is a wardrobe classic. Clean, crisp and totally versatile, it is one of those reliable pieces that we can count on to go with everything, and always looks super chic.

As with any go-to basic, it’s always good to have a few tips up your sleeve for updating and up-styling the piece, and these tips will ensure that your classic look never has to look boring.

Brooch

With statement jewellery having a serious moment this season, why not pop on a vintage brooch to really channel that classic vibe? Place the brooch in the spot between your collar tips, right over your top button, to switch things up.

Bow Tie

AW14 is all about retro revival, with sixties shift dresses with pussy-bow neckties popping up everywhere. Put a retro spin on your look by adding on a cute chiffon bow tie to a sophisticated shirt-and-pencil-skirt combo.

Statement Necklace

If this season’s trend forecast is anything to go by, we should all be dripping in jewels – great news for those who want to get extra mileage out of that favourite statement necklace. Our tip is to go for a really dramatic piece, and make it the focal point of your look by keeping the rest of your outfit really simple.

Collar Tips

For those who want to tone down the drama, a set of classic gold collar tips are a great addition to a white shirt. Adding the subtlest quirk to your outfit, they are the perfect accessory to liven up your work wardrobe.

Bibs

Before you get the wrong idea, no, we’re not talking about the baby type! The high street has gone crazy for the oversized fabric collar bib that attached just behind the neck to sit neatly over the top of your shirt. Rock a cute tartan number over your shirt to instantly punk up your look.

Some things are better left unsaid.

1. Your ‘number’
Does anyone tell the truth on this one? We’ll never know. Guys lie, girls lie, it’s really nobody’s business but your own.

2. How good your ex was at pleasing you
Ok, so he might need to improve on some things physically. Pretty much the worst way you can help him is to compare his skills with an ex’s. ‘What my ex used to do was….’ no, no, no, NO!

3. The fact that you cheated on your ex
Howiye trust issues! Your current boyfriend should never know this, it was a mistake, you did it because something was missing in the relationship or you were just hammered and reckless. Whatever the reason, all he’ll hear is ‘I’m an untrustworthy girl’ and he won’t forget it.

4. That you suffer from really heavy periods
Periods are a big part of a woman’s life, 12 a year, around 450 in a life time. It’s a reality that we all have to deal with every month, we got the short end of the stick, the raw deal… but he does not need to suffer as well. No matter how mature a man is, he will feel uncomfortable talking about your period and not only that, he will be in no way helpful. In fact, it’s possible that you will get into an argument because of how painfully unhelpful he is.

5. That one of his friends is hot
Not fair. He will imagine you and him having sex instantly. Nothing good will come of it, he will not get jealous in a cute way and tell you he loves you even more now. He will hate when you’re in a room together and probably accuse you of flirting when you ask him to pass the ice. Imagine it was the other way around – think of how mad you'd be!

6. That you got come on to by 6 different guys last night
When you go out on the piss without him, he’ll know what guys think when they look at you, it’s exactly what he thought when he first saw you. You don’t need to remind him that you’re hot property, it will only make him question how you conduct yourself when you’re out which is unnecessary.

7. That his friends are assholes
His friends might be assholes, but they are his friends. You have no idea what kind of history they have and sometimes the biggest di** can turn out to be the most loyal out of them all. Regardless, grin and bare them, they’re not going anywhere and their opinion of you counts for something so play nice.

8. That you dislike his Mother
Even if he has an old moan about her, under no circumstances can you refer to her as an old wagon. Ever. Boys’ relationships with their mums are sacred…back away.

Stop everything. There is going to be a Baywatch film… finally!

The project has apparently been in the works for years with lots of different writers coming on and off board, but it seems things have finally gotten off the ground.

So will the Hoff and Pamela Anderson be re-joining the crew as Mitch and CJ? We hope so, but for now the only confirmed cast member is Dwayne Johson, a.k.a. The Rock, who will take the lead as a hunky lifeguard captain. A strange choice – though he won't look out of place strutting his stuff in those red shorts!

Although the original Baywatch was officially a "drama," the film will be more of a comedy. We can't wait to see how many criminals, natural disasters, drownings, affairs and orphaned runaways they fit into the plot!

Whatever happens, we'll be happy as long as the movie keeps the EPIC theme tune. All together now, "Some people staaand in the darkness…."

By now, the entire celeb world are aware that once again, Jelena have split.

Justin and Selena, who have had an on-off relationship for the past 175 years (ok, about two) are said to have fallen out in Paris after Justin went for dinner with Kendall Jenner.

Now, video evidence that the couple are NOT on good terms has surfaced, and she is mad as hell!

In the video, Selena can be seen getting out of the white van, walking into the airport and angrily throwing her bag to the ground before Justin also walks in, going in a completely different direction…

Selena is known to have flown home with Kendall’s mum, Kris, and tweeted after: “Random, long flight.” We bet it was…

Cara Delevingne has basically reached supermodel status at this stage and is involved in most, if not all, high end modelling projects.

That doesn’t mean the media don’t talk about her spots though…

An article printed in the Daily Mail with the headline: “Cara Delevingne tries to hide big pimple” has, very unsurprisingly, angered the model who tweeted earlier: “I can’t believe my ‘pimple’ made the news! Journalism at it’s finest.”

We can’t imagine if we had one of our spots splashed all over a national newspaper – but she handled it well and we have no doubt she couldn’t care less what anyone says!

You know what they say… if you’re pimple makes it, you’ve officially made it.

OK, no they don’t say that, but they should!

Chrissy Teigen isn’t too impressed that people are making a big deal over her Instagram “nip slip”.

The model shared an image of herself and husband John Legend but it seems she has had something of a wardrobe malfunction…

However, Chrissy isn’t too impressed by all of the talk surrounding the display, accidental or not (we’re thinking not) and took to Twitter to vent her frustrations, saying: “a nip is a nip is a nip is a nip.”

We agree, Chrissy, free the nip!

It seems as if Instagram have let their notoriously strict nudity rules relax a bit, following complaints from breastfeeding mother that their photos were being removed.

Chrissy isn’t the first famous face to try and “free the nipple” – Cara Delevingne and Scout Willis have been among those campaigning for Instagram to calm down on the nudity rules.

You can be as prepared as you like for a job interview, but sometimes an unexpected question comes out of left field and leaves you stumbling for words.

While we can’t predict exactly what an interviewer is going to ask, having answers prepared for some of the more common things is a great help. You’ll feel confident and more at ease, meaning you’ll be better able to tackle any tricky questions!

Here are five to keep an eye out for…

1. Tell me about yourself.
This is a common first question, and it’s informality can leave us feeling too at ease. The interviewer doesn’t want to know about your hobbies and family life – they just want to know what sets you apart from everyone else. Rather than rambling for five minutes and losing their attention, sell yourself with a short, concise statement that is directly related to your experience and the job you’re applying for.

2. What are your greatest strengths?
Us Irish have serious fear of talking ourselves up – it’s just not our way! But in an interview it has to be done. The key here is to focus on attributes that qualify you for the job and that are directly related to the position you’re applying for. Maybe you’re good at working under pressure or to tight deadlines, maybe you’re a great people person – whatever it is, just make sure it’s relevant!

3. What are your greatest weaknesses?
The dreaded question. The way around this one is to be honest – and strategic. Whatever weakness you mention, follow up by telling the interviewer what steps you are taking to overcome it. That way you’ll not only show yourself to be self-aware but proactive too.

4. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Even if your dream in five years is to be living in a yoga retreat in India, that’s not what the interviewer wants to hear. Refer to the position and the company in your answer, for example if there are opportunities to move up within the business in a year or two, you could bring that into your response. The yoga can wait!

5. Any questions?
This is a toughie – ask the wrong question and you’ll have a black mark against you, but ask none at all and you may seem disinterested. Consider the role of the person who is interviewing you. If they’ll be your direct superior, you could ask about the team you’ll be working on, but if they’re the HR manager, you could ask for general questions about the company ethos. This is your chance to show that this is a role you’re really interested in. Avoid asking about salary – it’s a topic for the interviewer to broach, not you.
