first day of school

Most of us grew up in the age of Harry Potter, but the majority of the books were actually set back some time ago.

The first one is supposed to be set across the years 1991 and 1992, which is around five years before the book was even published.

So if you add it all up, it means that the Battle Of Hogwarts didn't actually take place until 1998 (how mind boggling).

Harry was born on July 31, 1980, making him the fair old age of 35 right now.

He had his first child with Ron's sister,Ginny, in 2004 when he was aged 24 meaning – after ALL the maths is done – Harry's son, James Sirius Potter, is now at the tender age of 11.

And since it's now September and schools are returning, that means James is setting off to London for his first journey on the Hogwarts Express!

How exciting!

Luckily for all us muggles, JK Rowling resorted to Twitter to let us in on the special event.

After she tweeted the message, of course Twitter went into meltdown…

We also couldn't help but look back at Harry's first trip to Hogwarts…

How cute!

Oh my god this is probably one of the cutest/saddest things we have ever seen and we are not dealing well at all.

The first day of school can be difficult enough, without a camera and reporter in your face, as 4-year-old Andrew learned.

This adorable little boy was starting his first day of school when a reporter interviewed him asking "are you gona miss your mom?" to which he replied "No!".

He then began giggling, which turned into crying in a matter of seconds and at this moment our hearts just broke!

Thankfully Andrew's mother was just off camera and saved the day by giving him a big hug following the incident.

Don't worry little guy, we're sure we were the same on our first day of school!

Your first day of college is kind of like starting at "big school" all over again. New location, new teachers, new pals, new books. It's only natural we'd assume that the new start means we'd automatically become a slick, carefree, stylish superstar who takes to university life like a duck to water.

Of course, it's not always like that, as this "expectations vs reality" video shows! If only all colleges had signs that said "This way to your lecture, Gary," we wouldn't have spent hours of our lives walking around like a lost child looking for our mammy.

As for the impossible-to-eat chicken fillet roll that leaves you covered in iceberg lettuce leaves… yep, that seems fairly accurate too. Oh, college. Best time of our life, is it?!
