Yearly Archives: 2019

So a video of Bella Hadid is doing the rounds for her…unusual… New Year's resolution: something the cool kids refer to as 'juuling'.

Are you familiar with the term? 'Cause we ain't.

The model and current girlfriend of The Weeknd announced via her Instagram account today that she's quitting her bad habit of juuling, which is basically just the 2019 version of vaping.

She put up a video of herself juuling and looking a LITTLE too stunning while doing so, taking several drags and creating a smoke flow from her mouth and nostrils.

We'd probably dissolve into a choking, gasping mess if we tried that…but nevertheless…

When it comes to smoking, the supermodel wrote;  "2019 resolution – quit juuling! So far so good!”  The comments were pretty funny, we have to admit.

She finished off the caption with far too many anti-smoking emojis to attempt to look serious about her goal. We see through the emojis though, it ain't hard.

Twitter users have been relentlessly slagging her for it, and it's pretty darn gas.

Mainly because uploading a video of yourself juuling doesn't exactly promote the idea of quitting juuling… if anything, her fans are probably more likely to try it out now. Logic??

The model previously had a cigarette smoking habit, so maybe she transitioned to juuling as a way of breaking free of nicotine addiction, who knows?

The kids these days, they're creating new trends and weird habits left, right and centre.

"What exactly is juuling?" I hear you ask. Great question, we've done some digging. It looks unnervingly like a flashdrive… so if you want to hide it from parents it's darn handy.

Juuls are a popular e-cigarette brand that works by heating cartridges of oils to create vapour which is then inhaled.

According to the company's website, they were created to help smokers move on from their addictions, but somehow they've become MASSIVELY popular among teens; there was a 75 percent increase in use from 2017 to 2018 (Good God).

The FDA announced on Wednesday that "critical" and "historic" efforts are being made to end the habit of teen vaping and juuling, after research is published showing the growing use of e-cigarettes, which the organisation said has reached "epidemic proportions,"

Researchers have indicated that though e-cigarettes are better than traditional options, Women’s Health.claim they're still introducing cancer-causing chemicals into the body.

Hadid came under fire recently for her smoking habits, and was criticised on numerous occasions for glamorising the habit.

FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb claims; "We cannot allow a whole new generation to become addicted to nicotine," said Gottlieb.

Bella, step it up gal. Good luck on your quitting journey, spirit sis.

Lady Gaga may have only taken home one trophy instead of the two she deserved (Hello? Best Actress? Ally from A Star is Born? Hi?), but her fiancé just posted an image of her and it's a FULL MOOD.

The pop idol won the Best Song award for Shallow, alongside Mark Ronson and two other producers, and celebrated in the most down-to-earth way possible.

Gaga ate breakfast in bed at 12:30am, lounging in ultimate comfort while cosying up to her new award.

Her fiancé Christian Carino captioned the picture; "What a rager."

They looked as loved up as ever during the awards show, with Lady Gaga losing out to Glen Close in the Best Actress category, despite being the favourite to win.

The duo didn't walk the red carpet together (sad face) but spent most of the ceremony as a couple, sharing a kiss afterwards and attending an after-party.

Rager is right, she looks like she's living her best life, and deserves it too.

We wonder what exact cereal she's eating…

We're just looking for that perfect breakfast to accompany all of our awards and accolades, you know?

Since the announcement of a sequel, we've been eating up every ounce of news to do with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Now, Lana Condor has us shookth with the idea that a "major new love interest" is coming to the second instalment to shake up some trouble.

It's bound to make excellent watching but the storyline of Peter and Lara's relationship being compromised might not go down well with fans.

And this is exactly what Lana, who plays Lara, is worried about.

Opening up to Elle, the actress spilt some secrets and her fears about the sequel.

"There's going to be a major new love interest," she told the publication.

"The first one was with Josh and Peter (Noah Centineo), but in the second movie it's going to be a major new character that’s going to challenge Peter quite a bit and fight over me, which is not a bad thing."

But the potential backlash from the relationship trouble is something Lana is already concerned about.

"I actually have that fear…I'm scared," confessed the actress.

So when the second movie drops – you've been warned to take it easy on Lana.

If you haven't seen the first movie – GO and watch it.

But it's based off an award-winning novel written by Jenny Han and follows actress Lana Condor as a secondary student Lara Jean.

Instead of confronting the lads she likes, Lara writes love letters to the boys she's been eyeing up and hides them away in a teal box in her wardrobe.

Cue the little brat of a sister snooping in her room and sending the private confessions to the boys they're addressed to.

The Golden Globes opened with some cracking jokes on Sunday night.

The actress was heard apologising as one the jokes got a round of applause from the crowd.

The joke came from Sandra, who praised Crazy Rich Asians for finally representing Asians accurately in Hollywood.

The actress teased: "It is the first studio film with an Asian American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha."

As the words poured from her mouth, you can hear Emma Stone scream: "I'm sorry."

Her apology comes as Ghost in the Shell and Aloha was slammed for white washing.

In Aloha,  Emma took on the role of Allison Ng, whilst Scarlett Johansson starred as the main character in the anime adaption of Ghost in the Shell.

The two women over the years have received serious stick from critics over the white washing that took place in both films.

Emma addressed the issue back in 2015, saying: "I’ve learned on a macro level about the insane history of whitewashing in Hollywood and how prevalent the problem truly is."

"It’s ignited a conversation that’s very important," she added to the Australian news station, New.com.au.

Most of Twitter was behind Emma's apology at the award show, commenting that they accepted it.

It may be many more years before Emma can finally leave her part in Aloha behind.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are notoriously private about their relationship, but a few lucky people got to witness…*gasp* A KISS between them at a Golden Globes after-party.

The duo sadly didn't grace the red carpets as a couple, which would have completed our lives as we know it, but his reaction to her presenting an award possible restarted our hearts.

Her boyfriend is involved in the award season run for his role in The Favourite and Mary, Queen of Scots, with Taylor making appearances by his side at the movie premieres and after-parties.

She's been fast making friends with his co-stars Nicholas Hoult and Emma Stone too, unsurprisingly.;

Joe was asked numerous questions about his girlfriend, despite the fact that he maintains his privacy.

One particular reporter from Entertainment Tonight asked if they would ever act together, to which he replied "It's not planned at the moment but who knows";

Joe's reaction to seeing Taylor present onstage at the Globes was especially heartwarming, with The Favourite co-star Nicholas Hoult giving Joe a pat on the back as he couldn't take his eyes off her.

Sources told Us Weekly that“While Taylor presented, Joe watched the teleprompter near him and smiled and Nicholas Hoult patted him on the back. After Gaga walked on stage, Joe shifted his gaze to the stage near Taylor.”

"She was smiling at him while she walked off the stage. She looked over her shoulder and gave a sassy cute little smile at his table’s direction,” according to the source. Adorbs.

Behold; a series of tweets showing every sibling relationship ever.

Anyone who has a brother or sister knows that, even if they achieve something as magnificent as a Golden Globe nomination, you just HAVE to slag them. You have to.

The roast began with Macaulay Culkin sitting down to watch his brother, Kieran Culkin, at the lucrative awards ceremony last night.

He started off pretty tame, observing his brother's presence and pretending not to know that he was nominated. We'd all do it, let's be honest.

PG enough:

His bro was there as part of the TV drama Succession, which earned him a nomination.

Then he even throws in a compliment, calling his bro 'handsome';

He even spots his brother in the distant crowd, hiding among the celebs;

He then spells his brother's name wrong, which we're assuming was a joke but who even knows?

He tries to use him for Twitter follower purposes, which is relatable content.

If our brother was at a ceremony filled with celebs we'd force him to track them all down for autographs and follower requests:

Then he joked that he never answers his calls, which is why he seemingly had no clue that his brother had been nominated. Bit of a gas, but we hope he's joking…

We're appreciating the comedic content, we really are.

He finished off with a show of support for his brother, despite the fact that he didn't win. Except he also claims to have been supporting another actor…LOL:

We're positive that Kieran is well aware of the fact that he didn't win… but sure look, sure listen.

Typical sibling bonding right there, no apologies ever to be made for the vicious roasting.

There is an anti-abortion protest taking place outside Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth today.

Health Minister Simon Harris has spoken out against this at a press briefing, calling it ''quite sad.''

One of the protesters is Charles Byrne, who unsuccessfully challenged the outcome of the referendum on the Eighth Amendment.

He said that those protesting were a group of concerned citizens protesting because, “I deeply and profoundly care about the right to life of every human being…We are here because we believe hospitals need to be places of care through compassion.”

Minster Harris has also condemned a tweet leaking confidential information about an abortion due to take place today.

In response to a tweet from Economist Professor ray Kinsella, Simon said, ''I find it pretty darn despicable actually that somebody would take to social media – that anyone would take to social media and endeavour to create a public conversation about an individual patient's care.''

He continued, ''Any service that is provided legally here in our country deserves to be treated with absolute respect and the confidentiality of a patient must be to  the fore.''

Easy Tips for Couples to Save Money

Money management issue is one of the biggest problems young couples face today. This is a serious problem for many couples since most of them struggle to come to an agreement while choosing ways to manage money. Since this is a sensitive issue, couples must be honest and straightforward about their individual spending habits. It is also important to devise a plan on how to minimise costs. On the other hand, having a partner is also a blessing when it comes to shouldering the expenses. Couples definitely can bond further over planning how to save money and dividing up the expenses. Being able to save money properly can ensure a long and healthy relationship. Here are a few simple tips to follow that can put you on the right track.

1. Discuss finances beforehand
The best way to start out is to have a free and frank discussion with your partner about your finances. Talk to them about your current financial situation, how many bank accounts you have and how much debt you have accumulated.
It’s important to be clear about how you expect the expenses to be handled. Discuss and set the limits on spending and how much of the expenses you are willing to shoulder. It’s best to get these things out in the open before your relationship gets very serious.

2. Document your goals
Once you have your expenses sorted out, be sure to write them down. Here you need to be clear about each other’s long-term financial goals, such as retiring at a certain age or making big purchases. You can document future expenses such as saving for your kid’s college fees or buying a car or a house. Writing them down and following up on them periodically will make it easier for you to achieve your goals. When plans are written down you are more likely to follow them through.

3. Discuss whether to have a joint bank account
When you trust each other implicitly, you can consider having a joint bank account. Joint bank account makes it easier to share expenses, especially if one partner decides to spend more on the household or other expenses.
This also creates an atmosphere of trust and reliability in the relationship.
On the other hand, you may also decide to keep separate bank accounts if you want to keep your spending information private. Given the high rate of divorce nowadays, many couples may opt for having separate bank accounts to ensure security.
Whichever path you take, make sure to discuss it in-depth with your partner to avoid future discontent.

4. Consider moving in together
Once you are at that stage of your relationship, you can consider moving in together. Sharing the same house can save money in numerous ways. Rent and bills can be shared. Even daily expenses such as food and gas can get cheaper when you share the expense together.

5. Spend less and save more
As a couple when you live together you need to be aware of the spending habits of each other. Make an active effort to cut back on spending that is not bringing back enough rewards.
As a couple, it is easier to identify the others spending habits as one might easily overlook their own personal spending pattern. So cut back on expenses that it not financially viable and invest more in ventures that bring in more rewards as a couple.

6. Cut back on unnecessary expenses
There are many expenses around the household that you can do without as a couple. If both of you have magazine subscriptions then you can cut back just one. Cable bills can be minimised by unsubscribing from channels you no longer view or don’t view together.
These small steps can save money by cutting out on the hidden costs.

7. Make holidays cheaper
Taking vacations is high up on the expenses list for many couples. Although sharing the bills on the vacation can be a great way to save money. You can try to make your own food if you have cooking facilities, instead of ordering or dining out.
Booking cheaper hotels or choosing camping grounds can lessen the expense a great deal. Group coupons are also available for vacations for couples looking to minimise costs.

8. Minimise use of your credit card
Using a credit card is very tempting. It makes you spend money you don’t have. Banks are making it easier nowadays to acquire credit cards for couples with shared incomes.
This encourages unnecessary spending. So, if you are on the lookout to save costs, then refrain from using that piece of plastic as much as you can.

9. Make your dates cheaper
Obviously, couples need to go out for entertainment, but going to expensive restaurants, games or concerts can drain your wallet really fast. So, if you’re focusing on saving money, try going out to restaurants that are budget friendly or just make dinner at home and have it while watching a movie on the TV. Going out for walks in the evening or having drinks or food at stalls by the road can be inexpensive ways of having a fun evening out.

10. Make Use of coupons or reward programs for shopping
You can be on the lookout for coupons online, in magazines or stores tabloids. Using these coupons can prove very useful in supermarkets and many online shops, especially if you are shopping on a budget.
Some media service providers offer free trials which allow you to watch free media content for a limited time. You can take up these free subscriptions whenever you come across one for free entertainment.

11. Go for used furnishings
As a couple, decorating your new house together is exciting. So, if you are planning on furnishing your new place in a cost-effective way, it would be a great idea to buy a few used furnishings.
You can easily find the things you want at local thrift stores, flea markets or the neighbourhood yard sales. Just a touch of paint or varnish can make any furniture as good as new.

Conclusion
Couples can make the best of being in a relationship when it comes to saving money. If your partner is willing to share the expense then it will be better for both if you are aiming to limit your expenses.
Following the easy tips above you can easily ensure to save more money by the end of the month. Happy savings!

Warning: this article may be upsetting for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, assault or harassment.

In case you've missed the drama surrounding R Kelly following the release of a six-hour length Lifetime documentary regarding his sexual predation, the explosive TV episodes have one again brought the dangerous rapper to light.

Horrifying allegations have been made against singer R Kelly for three decades, including an upsetting trial involving 21 counts of child pornography.

The six-part documentary made by Dream Hampton, Surviving R Kelly, retraced reports of the R&B artist's consistent manipulation and abuse of underage girls and sexual misconduct going back 30 years, for which he has never faced any consequences.

Lady Gaga is now being sufficiently ROASTED for declining to appear in the documentary, despite having collaborated with him back in 2013 on the (ironic) track Do What U Want.

Twitter users are calling her out on her debated hypocrisy, as she plays a large role in the #MeToo movement and declared that she has had her own abuser, though won't name him, yet works with known paedophiles.

Her silence in 2019 on the issue has allowed the public to instead retrace a damaging 2013 interview, where the Shallow singer DEFENDS him while in Japan;

"R Kelly and I have sometimes, very untrue things written about us, so in a way this was a bond between us." Whoa, whoa, whoa. This doesn't look good for Gaga, we have to admit.

She is choosing to remain silent for the moment, though more than a dozen victims who claim to have been raped, enslaved and abused while underage by Kelly have spoken out in the documentary.

Gaga was one of many celebrities who declined to participate in the Surviving R Kelly series, as well as Jay-Z (another collaborator), Dave Chapelle and Mary J Blige.

The move has angered many Gaga fans, given her public history of supporting sexual assault victims.

The rage online is palpable, as numerous fans have pointed out that this exact silence is how Kelly has been left to his own enabled devices for years.

In reality, he has had a support system around him who helped him with his predation.

Despite his child pornography trial taking place in 2002, hundreds of high profile celebrities have collaborated with him since, and are potentially only appearing regretful now because it is damaging to their brand.

A conversation has also arisen surrounding the notion of sexual assault victims and race, with many pointing out that if these women had been black, their stories may have ended differently.

Chance the Rapper has apologised for collaborating with the singer, but upset many people by admitting that he didn't care about the women because they were, in fact, black.

"Making a song with R. Kelly was a mistake. I didn't value the accusers' stories because they were black."

His honesty may be important in continuing this important talk, but the words have understandably hurt millions of women of the black community, who face oppression daily in America.

He later apologised for the quotes, saying they were taken out of context and explaining that the focus should be on the fact that those young black victims were never cared for.

Jada Pinkett Smith is among the celebrities who are asking the same imperative question; Do young black women matter?

Dream Hampton, executive producer of the show, told the Detroit Free Press that;

“It was incredibly difficult to get people who had collaborated with Kelly to come forward." Heartbreakingly, even friends such as Questlove declined to appear, despite believing the accusers' words.

John Legend was the only high-profile person who appeared in the film, writing on Twitter that it was an "easy decision":

#MeToo founder Tarana Burke also appeared in the documentary, as well as talk show host Wendy Williams and R. Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Kelly.

R&B legend Ne-Yo has posted his support for the series, saying that music cannot matter more than the lives of young black women.

Separating the man from the art must be examined as problematic; ignoring the actions of one can harm so many others.

R. Kelly has continuously denied the allegations and was acquitted in 2002 of child pornography charges, yet the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming.

The documentary is massively upsetting to watch, with woman after woman telling stories with paralleling patterns of his behaviour.

Families of young women are still claiming that their daughters are being held captive by R. Kelly as 'sex slaves.'

Chicago reporter Jim DeRogatis made a report in July of 2017 in which he asserts that Kelly keeps his victims captive in Chicago and Atlanta, and two victims (Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary) remain in his captivity.

"When u say teenage, how old are we talking" #RKelly #muterkelly #survivingrkelly pic.twitter.com/888SaTEBXx

Human rights organisation BlackWomensBlueprint tweeted,

"The sad truth is survivors still face push-back from naysayers who question their stories or dismiss the crisis of sexual assault- especially against black women and girls. It's a terrible burden to have to endure."

Jerhonda Pace, a survivor of R.Kelly, said, “I felt like a prisoner. I didn’t have anyone to talk to. It was just me. I went into a depression. I was mentally drained, because he would break me down, then build me up, then make me feel like sh*t again, then do it all over again."

"He would really manipulate my mind. The breaking point for me was when Rob slapped me, and he choked me until I blacked out," she concluded.

Let's not forget that when the singer was 27-years-old, he forged then 15-year-old R&B sensation Aaliyah's documents to claim she was 18 in order to marry her.

The Princess of Urban Pop later died in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001 after the unlicensed pilot had cocaine and alcohol in his system.

The documentary's film-maker Dream Hampton claims she hopes "Surviving R. Kelly" serves as a starter tool to "shift culture" and "talk about rape culture and organise against patriarchy, which harms us all."

Non-for-profit advocacy organisation Color of Change tweeted the "strength of black women & girls is determined by how much suffering we can endure. The women in #SurvivingRKelly are our heroes."

Let's hope the conversation will finally spark action and justice for these women.
