Orange is the New Black (OITNB) fans, today is a sad day.

Netflix and the show's cast has confirmed that one of its biggest shows will come to an end after its seventh and final series.  

The forthcoming seventh season of the Jenji Kohan-created prison comedy will be its last, with the final episodes to debut in 2019.

"After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black," Kohan said.

The show, which was hailed for its original and groundbreaking commentary on a variety of women's issues from its airing in 2013, sought to break the mould and fought against stereotyping subjects such as female sexuality. 

In a video on the show's official Twitter account, cast members including Uzo Aduba and Taylor Schilling lamented the show's end, but promised that everyone would come together to make the last season the best one yet.

Rumours that the series was to come to an end first surfaced last year, but now that it has been confirmed, we'll have an OITNB-shaped hole in our lives after 2019.  

Schilling, who plays Piper, told The Hollywood Reporter that the series' end felt surreal. "As an actor getting ready to say goodbye to a role that I’ve lived with for six years, it’s very poignant. It’s a very kind of surreal time. It’s as surreal as it was when the thing came out of the gate and was so powerful those first few seasons. It’s equally as surreal now to be ending it all."

The star kicked off this season’s snake skin trend with her references, and now there are few women walking down the high street sans-snakeskin.

Mega Metallics

Icy! Taylor recently nailed an upcoming Autumn/Winter trend at the AMAs when she rocked up in a disco ball-inspired mini dress.

The new season is all about metallic textures, and there are so many ways to wear them. Unlike Taylor, we don’t have star-studded awards ceremonies to attend, but it’s a simple style element to incorporate into a day to day wardrobe.

Try a silky silver shirt tucked into washed blue denim jeans, or make the jeans the statement with a metallic pair, worn with an over-sized turtleneck jumper and white runners.

Bright baker boy hats 

Black baker boy hats are everywhere, but in a recent 60s style shoot, Taylor rocked lashings of mascara and a cream coloured baker boy.

And thus, a trend was born. Out went the black caps, and a new era of colourful, textured caps was ushered in.

Taylor’s mussed up, choppy fringed hair is the perfect perch for such a cap, but a sleek, straightened do adds another dimension to the vintage vibe.

Over-the-knee boots

Knee-high boots have been revolving on the couture carousel in recent years, but Tay-tay literally took them to new heights.

In her video for Look What You Made Me Do, Taylor cuts a striking figure in over-the-knee Louboutin red boots and an oversized hoodie.

The boots are a serious power play, and with the video displaying Taylor reclaiming her power from her haters, fans and followers clamoured for a slice of the look.

Bardot shirts

In an Instagram snap that broke the Internet, with over 2,000,000 likes, Taylor rocked a very interesting shirt, which had a bardot neckline element.

Draping your jacket bardot style has definitely been a blogger trend this summer, but Taylor encouraged her followers to wear the look in a more structured way.

After her Insta upload, featuring two of her die-hard fans getting engaged, the high street was awash with bardot style shirts and jackets.

Comedian Al Porter was questioned by Gardai yesterday after a new allegation was made against him.

According to The Sun, the comedian was interviewed by detectives in Dublin yesterday.

This time, it is reported that Porter is being interviewed about an incident in which it is alleged the former radio host groped a man at a Dublin event. 

This claim is not related to the allegation that the comedian groped a psychiatric patient in a hospital during a charity visit.

'I have always denied any impropriety at St Patrick's Hospital during my charity radio visit,' he said in a  previous statement. 

 Last November, a number of people came forward alleging that the former Today FM DJ had acted inappropriately towards them.

These claims included statements from other comedians who said that Porter had touched them inappropriately in social or professional settings. 

'While my conduct, which had been in keeping with my flamboyant and outrageous public persona may be regarded as offensive and unacceptable by many people, I at no time intended to upset anyone,' he said previously.

'I sincerely apologise to anyone I may have genuinely offended.'

We must admit we were quite surprised to hear of Georgia Steel’s and Sam Bird’s break-up this morning. The Love Island couple looked as happy as ever as they attended the ITV Palooza last night.

Fans were baffled by their announcement last night, especially because of how aloof the pair were.

Rumour has it Georgia wasn’t loyal to her Love Island beau, which caused the pair to go their seperate ways.

A source close to the couple told OK! Magazine that Sam is heartbroken: “He truly believed that Georgia was the one.”

“After their experience on Love Island, leaving the show to be together and moving in their home – he thought him and Georgia would be together for the long run,” they revealed.

“In his eyes they had a good relationship. However, Sam has recently found out Georgia has not been loyal to him,” the source revealed.

“I will always care about him. However, please understand this is a hard time for both of us, thank you,” Georgia concluded.

Sam and Georgia are the fifth Love Island couple to end their relationship.

It has been reported that Dublin City University’s Accounting and Finance Society (A&F) behaved inappropriately during their EGM.

And the university as well as other students are calling them out for their misconduct.

A&F held an event during which they had a competition to determine who would become the first-year representative. And as there was drink involved, things quickly escalated.

A leaked video showed a first-year stripping down to his boxers before falling over. Then another student removed her top and the two began kissing while the rest of the society cheered them on.

However, this was just one of the many rumoured tasks to have taken place.

According to DCU’s newspaper The College View, students were split into pairs and in the first challenge, they had to pop a balloon between each others’ hips.

Winners were then split into two groups of ‘single’ and ‘taken’. The single group had to shift someone to continue on. And the taken group had to ring partners or family members and reportedly, break up over the phone or falsely admit to cheating.

The final three couples were then made to sing a song in front of those present. And while some stripped their clothes in the footage, it is unclear whether this was asked for or voluntary.

DCU issued the following statement in response to the society’s misconduct:

"This is a matter which Dublin City University takes extremely seriously. Inappropriate behaviour of this nature is not tolerated by the university. The issue was dealt with promptly and decisively by the University’s Society Life Committee (SLC) which is directly responsible for the governance of student societies at DCU.

“The SLC met on October 9th to address the issues that arose and voted unanimously to suspend all of the social activities of the Accounting and Finance Society for the remainder of the semester.  

“Furthermore, it was also decided that the students involved in organising the event in question should undergo a training workshop focusing on the topic of Respect and Dignity at Dublin City University.

“DCU is fully committed to all students and staff abiding by an ethos of dignity, courtesy and respect at all times and to operate to the highest possible standards."  

Many students have commented on the society’s Facebook page, some saying not to 'judge' those who were present and others asking people to 'stop defending what happened'.

However, the biggest response has been from DCU’s Feminist Society, who have started circulating a petition calling for:

“The immediate resignation of the entire A&F Society governing executive committee, who presided over this event, a portion of the budget allocated to A&F Society be appropriated to run more consent classes on campus, and to expand the availability of the program throughout the year."

The society also asked that "A&F society chairs, class representatives and members of DCUSU Executive and Sabbatical teams undergo further consent and respect training and that the appropriate resources and supports to be made available to all the students affected by these events.”

The petition already has almost 400 signatures out of its 500 goal.

While DCU’s statement has confirmed disciplinary actions taken against the society as a whole, the university has yet to announce disciplinary measures for individuals involved.

Georgia Steel and Sam Bird have decided to end their relationships and we must admit their statements have made us feel pretty teary eyed.

It is believed the Love Island pair called it quits last night.

Georgia took to her Instagram stories to comment on the break-up.

“I’m very sad to say me and Sam have split up,” she wrote.

Sam and Georgia are one of many Love Island couples who have called it quits recently. Laura Anderson and Paul Knops ended their love affair last month.

Charlie and Ellie went their separate ways too, as did Samira and Frankie.

It'll come as no surprise to see that Dani and Dyer and Jack Fincham are still going strong. The Love Island winners are going from strength to strength. They’ve even adopted a dog together named Sandy.

Reputation reptile

Take the Look What You Made Me Do theme of snakes to a whole new level. Copy Taylor’s Reputation Tour performance look with a snakeskin, long-sleeved bodysuit (here’s one from Amazon, but you can find them on ASOS and Missguided, or on the highstreet in Zara and H&M) and team it with fishnet tights and knee-high boots.

Once you have your outfit down, do your makeup just like Taylor, complete with red lip and liquid liner, before grabbing another pair of fishnets, stretching them over your face, and using green shimmery eyeshadow to add a snake-scale pattern to your temples, down your cheek bones and chin.

Finish with lots of highlighter and a microphone.

22 (and BOO) 

This is one of those Halloween costumes that you probably have most of the elements of already.

All you need is a black hat, black shorts and a plain white t-shirt. Duct tape on the ‘Not A Lot Going On’ slogan, or write it on the t-shirt with a marker.

You might have to get online to order those red, heart shaped sunglasses, but other that that, this costume is probably already in your wardrobe. Bonus points on this one if you’re actually 22 and just want to go around shouting that all night.

VM-Tay

Taylor Swift has had a serious ascent to stardom, but one incident that will go down in pop culture history has got to be the events of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Kanye West notoriously stormed the stage after Taylor’s win for Best Female Music Video.

Taylor proved that she is graceful to her core after she reacted bravely and with dignity on stage to Kanye’s interruption, as he claimed that Beyonce would have been more deserving of the win in the middle of Taylor’s acceptance speech.

For this costume, a silver sequin sheath draped into a Grecian-style gown will suffice, and you can pick up a length of sequin fabric at your local haberdashery. The most difficult aspect of this to replicate would be the Moonman award, but a sliver spray-painted action figure should suffice – it’s such a notorious moment that the reference won’t be lost on anyone.

OG Junior Jewels Tay

While we may have left this Taylor behind in music video history, Love Story will always be a firm fan fave.

This is arguably one of the easiest Taylor looks to recreate. All you need are flannel PJ bottoms, a white t-shirt, some markers, and plastic hipster glasses.

Copy the pattern on the neck and sleeve hems of Tay’s t-shirt, and then become the life of the Halloween party by getting all of your friends to sign it. In the original video, Taylor’s Junior Jewels t-shirt had lots of different names, but in the video for Look What You Made Me Do, it featured the names of her friends, like Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham and Gigi Hadid.  Bonus points for this costume, as you get to venture out in the comfort of your pyjamas.

The Bad Blood Squad

This is one for you and your girl gang – Taylor’s Bad Blood music video is one of her best, and it cemented the iconic nature of her squad. The video goes a little something like this: Double-crossed by her partner Arsyn, played by Selena Gomez, assassin Catastrophe (Tay-tay) enlists a troupe of fierce females to seek her revenge.

Simply deck yourselves out in different styles of black clothing, from leather skirts to ripped leggings, black crop tops and bralettes and stompy boots.

Then, add as many belts as you can pool together, and some plastic weapons for good measure. Finish off the look with intense cat-eye liner al la Taylor and your bad ass, boss babe squad look is complete.

The Blank Space, baby

One of the most memorable moments from Taylor’s hit Blank Space (other than her smashing up that car with a golf club and dropping her lover’s phone in a fountain) is the very deranged looking Taylor writhing in front of a fireplace.

Taylor’s video pays homage to toxic, damaged relationships, and she epitomises the trope of a crazy girlfriend as she punches the walls in a leopard print dress, black makeup streaming down her face.

Luckily, leopard print is a popular pattern on the high street at the moment, so you should be able to pick up a leopard gúna for a steal. Then, simply add some smudged eyeliner down your cheeks, a red lip, and you’re done.

It's not quite Thursday, but here's a major throwback – and some majorly exciting news. 

Westlife today announce that they will be touring for the first time in seven years next May, June and July of 2019.

The run of live shows will end in Dublin at Croke Park on Friday, 5th July.

The shows will see the iconic boyband perform brand new songs, alongside their greatest hits and all 14 of their UK No.1 hits including Swear It Again, Flying Without Wings, You Raise Me Up and Unbreakable.

Fans that pre-order a copy of the forthcoming new Westlife album from the official store before 12pm on Monday 22nd October will receive an exclusive pre-sale code for early access tickets to the 2019 tour.

Pre-sale starts at 9AM Tuesday 23rd October with general on-sale tickets available from Thursday 25th October at 9am.

There’s no doubt fans were overjoyed to hear that Westlife are back together again. Shane, Kian, Nicky and Mark made the long-awaited announcement on Instagram earlier this month and have been posting photos together ever since.

Their latest post has sent fans into a frenzy. The foursome posted the same black and white selfie to their Instagram accounts.

All four members captioned the snap: “Tonight 8.30pm.”

The world has gone nuts for the royal family this past week. We are, however, choosing to focus on how Meghan Markle gets her skin to glow in that incandescent way – and her favoured skin care products just might have something to do with it.

Irish model Mairead O'Neill tragically passed away Monday night.

The 21-year-old’s death was unexpected, shocking loved ones and fans around the country.

Also known as Mairead Leigha, the young girl had a tough time over the past year, losing her mum just ten months previously to cancer.

Close family friend Julie Rooney said the young model "took her own life" and is "survived by her brother Brendan and sister Bronagh, who both have three beautiful children each."

Julie has set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral costs and is asking for donations to help this family through such a devastating year.

“I know people are struggling financially as it is, but every little [bit] helps these kids,” she said.

“The last thing they need is a funeral bill on top of their doubly painful heartbreak. As their mummy’s friend, I’m hopeless as to what I can do.

“So, I’m hoping that with people’s help we can make it a tiny bit easier on them. [Mairead was] such a beautiful child that just could not get over living without her mother.

Mairead’s former modelling agency boss also spoke fondly of the kind-hearted girl.

“Mairead was a clever, grounded and very smart young lady who was beautiful,” she told Belfast Live.

“She had a lot of support but her heart was broken. It’s so sad to think that she is gone now too.”
