Despite what seemed a whirlwind engagement, singer Ariana Grande and Saturday Night Live host Pete Davidson are very much in love. They have been officially dating since earlier this year and announce their engagement this summer. They are Relationship Goals, as far as celebrity couples go.

They are a sweet pairing; Grande dedicated a song to him on her latest album Sweetener (apt title) and Davidson has repeatedly said in interviews how lucky he is to have Grande as his future-wife. They seem like a (relatively) normal couple in love, despite the fact that they are both subject to intense scrutiny – Davidson is well-known but Grande is a pop megastar.

Grande has opted to step back from the spotlight for a time with the news that her former boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller died from a drug overdose less than a month ago – this is despite the fact that she just released a new album to critical and commercial acclaim.

Davidson is happy enough to open up about his relationship and, we hve to admit, his devotion to Grande is utterly adorable.

In a new interview, he has said that he believes he and his 24-year-old finance are "meant to be together."

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Davidson said: “I just think some people are meant to be together and some people aren’t, even if they are good people or not," he said.

"I'm just lucky and I hope I never wake up!"

“Some people just aren’t good in relationships together. And I just think we’re supposed to be together."

Davidson and Grande started dating earlier this year after both split with their previous partners and he said his and Grande’s relationship was partly down to “timing.”

He added that he was unsure about Grande's choice of himself as a husband, thinking that she might opt for a more One Direction-type candidate in looks department (aw!).

“Before we started dating, I literally like went through a list, I scrolled through a list of really hot guys on the Internet and I was like ‘Wait a minute, are you sure? Like here’s all of One Direction, I was like you sure? I was like this guy? All right. OK cool’.”

It's beginning to look a lot like….

The 2018 Team Hope Shoebox Appeal was officially launched this week.

Today FM’s Alison Curtis has joined forces with Team Hope this year to encourage families, friends, schools, community groups and businesses across Ireland to champion the annual Appeal and donate gift-filled shoeboxes to children from some of the poorest regions in the world by 9th November.

After smashing last year’s target and delivering more than 264,000 shoeboxes, Team Hope wants to exceed all expectations and deliver 280,000 shoeboxes this year. Every single shoebox donated is delivered directly into the hands of a child in need, so every shoebox counts.

Team Hope is asking people to champion the Appeal in their own schools, communities, businesses and among their family and friends.

"By encouraging as many people as possible to take part, even more children will experience the joy of receiving a Shoebox. For most of these children, it is the only present they will receive all year, turning an ordinary day into a day filled with smiles, excitement and laughter," said Peter Heaney, Chief Executive Officer of Team Hope.

How do I get involved?

Getting involved is simple. All you have to do is find an empty shoebox, wrap it in Christmas paper and fill it with gifts for a boy or girl aged between 2 and 14 years old, attach €4 and bring it to a local drop off point before Friday, November 9th.

When considering items that are best to gift, think of the 4W’s:

·      Write – pen, pencil, copybook, paper, colouring book, felt pens, sharpener, eraser, solar calculator (these children have no access to batteries).

·      Wash – toothbrush and toothpaste, soap (wrapped), facecloth, hairbrush, comb.

·      Wear – a hat, scarf, gloves, socks or underwear.

·      Wow – sunglasses, games, small Irish gift, a photo of yourself, sweets (must be in date until at least April 2019), make up, a small musical instrument, toys like a doll, a car, cuddly toy, skipping rope, yo-yo or finger puppet.

There are 400 drop off points nationwide, including all Axa, FastFit/FirstStop branches and Toymaster stores.

Fancy going as a true millennial nightmare this Halloween?

Introducing the Ghosted costume from Party City.

The costume pays homage to one of the most terrifying (and inconsiderate) dating phenomenons of our time – ghosting.

Party City Womens Ghosted Costume $24.99

'If someone's blowing up your phone, ghost them in a Ghosted Costume for women,' reads the costume description.

'The costume is a hooded white dress designed to look like a ghost with a series of unanswered texts on the front.'

'The texts include "???," "R U OK!?," and more. Eager texters will know not to bother you in this Ghosted Costume!'

Party City Womens Ghosted Costume $24.99

The ghost-ee in this costume is clearly being stood up by the ghoster, and frankly there is nothing scarier for our self esteem .

Party City's costume is currently only marketed for women (why tho) and there is no equivalent costume for men, but we think it would suit anyone of any gender who has felt the pain of being ghosted.

How often do you wash your hairbrush?

We wouldn't be surprised if you have to go quite far back in your memory to find the answer.

 Six months? A year? Never?

Well, you're not the only one.

Because let's face it, most of us just pull out a few hairs now and then before putting it back on the table.

But unfortunately for us, this is actually a pretty bad habit. In fact, we should be thoroughly cleaning our hairbrushes at least once a month.

And according to dermatologist Francesca Fusco, we should also be spray cleaning them once a week. Oops.

Francesca tells Allure: 'The less you shampoo, the more you use dry shampoo, the more you have dandruff, the more styling products you use, then the more frequently you should clean your brush.

'Residue, dead skin cells and oil colonise the brush and can become a home for bacteria and yeast which in general is not good and can smell unpleasant.'

Em… ew!

So seeing as a lot of us are total novices, Francesca tells us the most effective way of cleaning a hairbrush?

“The best way to clean it is to simply use a fine-toothed comb and rake it through the brush. It should easily catch all the hair and pull it free.”

“Then, run it under the sink and use your hands to massage the bristles to break up product that may be stuck in it. Then use your blowdryer and dry it up.”

There has been heightened anticipation for the arrival of the final season of Game of Thrones.

Fans have grown obsessed with George R.R. Martin’s fantastical drama series, so when we heard we had to wait nearly two years for the final season, it was heartbreaking.

And what’s not to like?

Dragons, kingdoms, usurpers, powerful queens, wars, sex…and Kit Harington of course.

But to hold us over until we can see his gorgeous face again, the HBO series has announced some exciting news

GOT is currently wrapping up its last season, filming in remote, scenic locations in Northern Ireland and plans to share these iconic sets with the public.

Which means us peasants will be able to visit Winterfell and Westeros, re-enacting some of our favourite moments on the show.

The filming locations will be converted into tourist attractions following the series’ end.  So, not only will we be able to see these legendary sites in person, but we will be able to view them in all their GOT glory.

“Each site will exhibit displays of costumes, props, weapons, set decorations, art files, models, and other production materials.

“The visitor experience will be enhanced by state-of-the-art digital content and interactive materials which will showcase some of the digital wizardry the series is known for”, HBO recently announced.

Does this mean we can fulfil our Khaleesi fantasies and regally ride dragons across the lands? We hope so!

“While fans have seen the stunning landscapes, coastlines and mountains in the series, we are thrilled they will now have the opportunity to fully experience the charm of Northern Ireland and immerse themselves in to the world of Westeros,” said John McGrillen, Chief Executive of Tourism NI.

These confirmed locations include Winterfell, Castle Black, and King’s Landing.

I, for one, would love to re-enact the death of snivelling King Geoffrey or witness Tirian’s hilarious antics before he fled his family’s kingdom.

The current opening date is set for sometime next year. So stay tuned for any updates and start getting your favourite costumes for some amazing GOT insta pics.

Celebrities are often paid to endorse certain products, but the beauty industry is by far their most popular clients. We live in an age of social media dangers where one Instagram photo from an influential person can cause sales of the products which they are advertising to skyrocket.

What also must be noted is the health advice which is passed around the internet perpetuated by celebrities does not necessarily have their followers’ best intentions at heart.

Poor messaging can lead to dangerous consequences, and numerous organisations such as the National Eating Disorder Association have branded the Kardashian family’s representation of weight loss products as ‘triggering’ for those who struggle with eating disorders.

Kristina Saffran, who co-founded Project Heal, stated that “To joke about anorexia in any respect is not only wrong but really harmful and dangerous — especially when Kim has so many followers, and many are young, impressionable girls.”

Kim herself has said in the past that people's criticism of her body is 'like literally giving me body dysmorphia,' on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians

The NEDA has also claimed that the Kardashian family, mainly Kim, shows the classic signs of body dysmorphia: which is characterised by the extreme preoccupation with your own body’s defects and flaws.

Kim Kardashian West has had her fair share of controversy, and attention is always on her and the rest of her family when it comes to their bodies and weight. Their brand has mainly revolved around their image, let’s be honest.

Only a privileged and elite few can keep up with the same type of lifestyle as the Kardashians, yet millions of their fans aspire to be and look exactly like them, including by using their weight loss products.

She came under fire in May for endorsing the use of appetite suppressing lollipops, which literally encouraged people to curb their hunger in order to look slim. Now I’m no dietician, but this has to be one of the most unhealthiest things on earth. Her post was later deleted, but featured her recommending the lollipops to 111 million followers, most of them young women.

She also got into trouble in 2012 for advertising diet pills which were known in the medical world for causing more damage than good for the health of those who used them. All it takes is a quick scan through the websites of brands like Boohoo, Nasty Gal, Missguided, Oh Polly etc to see models who look exactly like the Kardashians, which is no coincidence.

They have huge selling power, and a powerful influence over their followers. Unfortunately, this also includes the Kardashian attitudes towards weight loss.

“How I maximize fat loss” link to cardio workouts

They have the most expensive personal trainers in the world, the best stylists, photographers that follow them around constantly to get the best shots and angles so that they look their best- but it’s not the real world. They are perpetuating a reality that is totally airbrushed and staged, and their endorsement weight loss products simply make money off the unhealthy ways in which women look at their bodies.

Their platform could be used in a much more positive way to help their young fans gain self-confidence as opposed to dramatically changing their appearance to look thinner or curvier in places that literally only plastic surgery could manage.

Kardashian’s original controversial tweet wrote: ”Got cravings? Well girl, tell them to #suckit because our NEW Appetite Suppressant Lollipops are going to keep you in check. Best bit? They're only 35 calories per pop!”

The lollipops brand themselves as containing Satiereal, an appetite suppressant derived from the Crocus Sativus plant. However, the lollipops haven’t reviewed by the FDA, so it's unknown if they're even safe to use, yet they are being endorsed by the most famous family in America.

Kim Kardashian and her sisters Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie have also acted as brand ambassadors for companies selling Sugar Bear Hair gummies, waist trainers and Flat Tummy Tea, to name a few.

Flat Tummy Co. has gained its own share of criticism for the negative messaging which its campaigns emanate: among them claiming that vegetables aren’t a good way to lose weight.

They sell an impossible ideal to women, and yet the most followed people in the world on Instagram endorse their messages.

Actress Jameela Jamil has frequently criticised Kim Kardashian for her social media posts on how to lose weight, as if women need to take up less space in the world to have any worth.

She has described the Kardashian way of social media life as ‘recycling self-hatred’ and ‘selling us self consciousness’.

Sharing the tweet of Kim’s fat loss post, the actress, journalist and activist questioned 'How do we minimize this woman’s bulls***?'

She’s got a point tbh.

It comes after the British actress previously described Kim, 37, as 'terrible and toxic influence' for her weight loss endorsements, which are also false advertising at its finest.

The Kardashians have been accused of perpetuating an eating disorder culture numerous times before, most recently in May when Kim Kardashian was told by her sisters that she looked ‘anorexic’, to which her reply was ‘THANK YOU!!!!’. If that isn’t unsettling, I don’t know what is.

Dr Liam Hackett, activist and CEO of ‘Ditch the Label’ has claimed that over 1.25 million people in the UK are struggling with eating disorders currently.

He spoke about the damage of the Kardashian clan’s endorsements of weight loss products as deeply concerning and reckless:

At the end of the day, it bears meaning to think of women’s worth as being much more than what they weigh on the scales, but do the Kardashians truly believe that themselves? I doubt it.

We all know the drill. With overflowing workloads, deadlines to see to and just general stress, it can be hard to take yourself away from your desk for an hour to eat your lunch.

Combined with cafes either being too expensive or simply not there, it can seem like more of an effort to leave the office.

However, if you actually knew how many extra hours you spent every year not taking a break, we bet you'd feel different about your lunch hour.

Image result for working

According to Workthere.com, the average person only takes 34 minutes a day for their lunch, and that actually racks up a whole lotta hours.

Refinery29 sat down and did the maths, and the numbers are pretty shocking.

So, there are 232 working days this year (minus holidays). 232 multiplied by the amount of time you don't take for lunch equals 100 hours and 53 minutes.

That means you end up working 12 extra days a year.

TWELVE. That's half of your holiday allowance.

Bet you'll think twice when lunch time comes around tomorrow…
