Getting the likes on Instagram is a pretty great feeling.

After going to the trouble of capturing the perfect snap, it's time to edit, and choosing the right filter can have a make or break effect on your likes counter.

Researchers at Canva recently took a look at over one million Instagram posts, to asses which filters are the most popular among likers.

According to Bustle, data collected from US Instagram profiles show that five filters stand out among the rest.

Topping the popularity list is Clarendon, which takes first place as the most liked filter.

Following are Lark, Gingham, Juno and Valencia.

However, there is an exception to the rule.

If you want to get into double (or triple) digits for likes on a selfie the best filter is… no filter at all.

In the selfie category, Normal wins out.

So if you are planning on ruling the world, one Instagram like at a time, it's Clarendon for the win.

One of our favourite hobbies is turning the price up as high as it can go on Airbnb and fake shopping for our perfect holiday home.

As well as indulging our 'apartment goals' hobby, the short-term rental site also provides us with handy, affordable accommodation options that are oftentimes cheaper than a hotel equivalent.

The site is massively popular, but this has attracted scammers to the website who hope to take advantage of eager holiday makers.

One such scam is currently occurring, according to CNN

Some unfortunate wanderlusters are trying to book Airbnbs but actually booking themselves in for a scam. Scammers are posting listings for homes that they don't own, but pretend that they do.

Then when an unwitting renter enquires about the home, the fake host redirects them sneakily to an external site to pay the deposit, but the money actually goes straight in the scammer's pocket.

Then when the time comes, the holiday maker rocks up to a home in another country expecting to be met by their Airbnb host, only to find a perplexed homeowner wondering why a random tourist is at their door.

Airbnb describes this phishing as 'a type of scam in which someone will send an email or link that is made to look like it's from Airbnb or another trusted site.'

'These messages are designed to trick you into providing confidential information such as passwords or other email addresses and may contain malware, which is malicious software that gains access to your computer to gather your personal information, including passwords.'

Or just to take your money, as the latest wave seems to be doing.

'If a host on the Airbnb site asks you to pay off-site, report it to us by flagging the message—just look for the flag icon in your message thread,' says Airbnb.

'If you receive a personal email from anyone (including an automated@airbnb.com or any other username@airbnb.com email address) asking you to pay or accept payment off-site, let us know immediately.'

So if you are planning on getting an Airbnb, make sure you are not redirected to another site, and never give your email or contact details to any hosts who ask for them.

OK, so it's safe to say we're all on WhatsApp, yes?

It's our main point of contact with our BFFs, work buddies, parents and far-off friends, so you know… we like it a lot.

And if you've ever encountered any problems with the app then you'll know that there's no support team in Dublin.

Well, that's about to change because the social app is opening up an office in Dublin.

Speaking to The Irish Times, a spokesperson for the company said that they're looking to start small, and will initially set up the office with only six people.

The spokesperson said: "WhatsApp intends to build a small support team in Dublin to better serve our growing community of users around the world.

So, we're a tad confused about how this movie will turn out!

Ed Sheeran has spoken out about his desire to shoot a biopic based on his life and growing up in his hometown of Ipswich.

Speaking to Q recently, the singer said: "I want to have an 8 Mile moment but 8 Mile meets Notting Hill.

"Not gritty like Detroit but, like, Ipswich. I've got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven't come out so I could make a soundtrack."

But this isn't a new idea as he spoke to The Sun back in March about finding a filmmaker he really loved.

Ed basically told the publication the same thing, but instead used Once as a reference instead of 8 Mile.

"I look at a film like Notting Hill and I think that's like a brilliant benchmark, or Once. So if you were to mix Notting Hill with Once, I would say that would be a good start," he told The Sun.

"I am in talks with one filmmaker that I really love and we are going to slowly but surely put something together.

"I would want to cast all unknowns. I want to have a low-budget, indie, British-made film."

It looks like Ed is pretty serious about this!

The Handmaid's Tale has definitely been one of the most stand-out series of the year so far.

The TV adaptation of the book under the same name blew us away from start to finish, and many believe it relates to issues women face today (the book was first published in 1985).

Well, the author of The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood, recently spoke to The Boston Review, and in between discussing the rise of Donald Trump and speculative fiction, another conversation came about.

If you don't know already, Margaret is from Canada. And while being interviewed with fellow author Junot Díaz, he pointed out that along with Margaret, the other great person to come out of Canada recently is Drake.

Yep, the rapper Drake.

Junot began by saying, "I just think that, Canada– I’ll say this to the whole nation – you are missing a great opportunity to put these two folks together. Have you listened to his music? Do you have any opinions?"

To which Margaret replied, "Wouldn’t it be fun for him to have a cameo in season 2 of The Handmaid’s Tale?"

She continued, "I’ll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that, because of course the show is filmed in Toronto. Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?"

OK, yes! How awesome would it be if Drake popped up and helped the revolution?!

Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews have been all loved up for a while now, and fans of the couple are dying to find out if Vogue will become a regular fixture on her boyfriend's reality show Made in Chelsea.

The TV star began her career on a reality show, RTÉ's Fade Street, so the idea isn't too out of the box.

However, Vogue has now put the rumours to rest, saying that it's not her kind of thing.

When asked about the series and if she'll become a fixture, the model said, "Absolutely not, no! Definitely not my thing."

A post shared by voguewilliams (@voguewilliams) on

Vogue explained that even though her and Spencer are very close, they have different projects going on at the moment, which keeps them apart from time to time.

"I’m on the path I want to be on. I love TV, so the more I get to do that the better, but I’ve got a really packed schedule at the moment.

"It’s going really well. I’m away quite a lot so he’s good enough to come and follow me at the end of my shows and we get a few days together. We’re very busy but we do see each other as much as we can, which is nice.

"He’s been working hard, but it’s nice to have him back now – he’s always really busy but that’s just the nature of what we do," she explained to The Irish Daily Star.

And when asked about having a relationship that is so public, Vogue said that she doesn't really notice the attention anymore.

"It’s fine, we get our private time so it’s not something I really notice anymore. You can put yourself out there as much or as little as you want so we’re quite careful about that as well."

So, there you have it. Vogue won't appear on MIC (but we're secretly hoping for a little cameo appearance in the future!).

Insulin pens are being recalled in Ireland due to a major safety concern.

Diabetics are being warned to be extremely careful with their medication as reports are emerging about cracking in insulin pens.

According to The Irish Sun, batches of NovoPen Echo and NovoPen 5 that have been distributed in Ireland have been affected which sees the pen crack if exposed to chemicals commonly used in cleaning supplies.

Apparently, the breakage in the pen means that diabetics will not inject the correct amount of insulin needed, which could leave the patient at risk.

Novo Nordisk, owner of the company, said: Using a device with a cracked/broken cartridge holder can result in the device delivering a smaller dose of insulin than expected leading to high blood sugar levels.

“The risk of experiencing high blood sugar levels with the use of a device with an affected cartridge holder is evaluated to be less than 0.1 per cent, i.e. less than one in 1000 patients will experience high blood sugar levels due to an affected cartridge holder.”

“The warning symptoms of high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) normally appear gradually and can be flushed, dry skin, feeling sleepy or tired, dry mouth, fruity (acetone) breath, urinating more often, feeling thirsty, losing your appetite, feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting).

“You might not experience any physical signs of high blood sugar, but only notice this in your blood sugar measurements.”

Patients are being urged to contact the brand in order for new pens to be delivered.

Novo is also warning diabetics to not stop treatment and to contact their doctors.

Poke bowls have taken over the Internet, and has proven itself worthy of the title of most fashionable food trend of 2017.

Colourful, healthy and yummy, they tick all the boxes, and many eateries around Dublin now offer their own version of the trendy bowl.

This traditional Hawaiian dish could be basically described as a sushi salad, and just like our beloved sushi rolls, you can make poke bowls with loads of different ingredients.

Rather than splashing the cash on a takeaway poke bowl, you can follow our recipe, which is super easy to make and most importantly, tasty AF.

For 2 servings

Ingredients

  • 200g cooked sushi rice
  • 200g salmon filet, cubed
  • ½ ripe avocado, sliced
  • ¼ cucumber, sliced
  • ¼ fresh mango, cubed
  • 2 tbsp edamame
  • 2 tbsp fresh seaweed
  • 2 radishes, sliced

For the dressing

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • ½ tbsp lime juice
  • ½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ½ tbsp green onion, thinly sliced
  • Black and white sesame seeds, to taste

1. In a small mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, ginger, sesame oil, spring onions and lime juice.

2. Toss salmon and marinate for one hour.

2016 was a year of glory for the likes of avocado, turmeric and unicorn-hued food.

In 2017, some of these trends are still on the menu, but they have been joined by a few new interesting (and really tasty) emerging trends.

So long kale, right now, we are all about the following foodie flavours:

Poke bowls

This Hawaiian dish, made of rice, fresh fish and various vegetables and fruits is having a mega moment on Instagram and has taken Dublin by storm.

Trendy eateries like Cocu and Klaw poke now serve this tasty and healthy dish that we are all getting quite addicted to in the SHEmazing HQ…

Aperol Spritz

Watch out G&T, a new drink is currently taking over as our beverage of choice.

Perfect for the summer, Aperol Spritz is a traditional Italian cocktail already ubiquitous in Europe and we can see it popping up in trendy bars in Ireland.

A combination of Prosecco, Aperol and soda water, this bitter-sweet drink is served in a wine glass and we can't wait to jump into the bandwaggon and sip on these all summer.

 Pickled vegetables

We have heard a lot about fermented food for the past two years and it remains on trend this summer, particularly pickled vegetables.

In Dublin, numerous cafes and restaurants use them to pimp their salads or breakfast dishes and we can’t get enough of these tasty and colourful veggies.

Edible flowers

Flower power!

As a cake decoration or a pretty addition to colourful salad, edible flowers are making our plates a piece of art.

The easiest way to find them is actually to grow them yourself as only a few stockists offer edible flowers.

It's a well known thing that many Irish people enjoy their steak 'well done'.

It basically has to be black and crispy in order for us to enjoy it.

Well, apparently more than half of us are eating undercooked burgers, and we're kinda surprised.

According to a study carried out by Safefood, 51 per cent of us are eating burgers in restaurants that aren't fully cooked.

Food on Plates on Table

However, consumers want the burgers to be uncooked – for a number of reasons.

Factors range from taste to confidence in the food preparation, so it's safe to say we've officially moved on from burnt-to-a-crisp food.

Saying that, 65 per cent of the respondents said that they would reconsider their choice if they knew there was a risk of food poisoning.

Dr Gary Kearney of Safefood said: "The only way to ensure that any bacteria in the middle of the burger is killed off is to ensure that the burger is cooked well done.”

Safefood is currently campaigning to educate people on the dangers of contracting serious illnesses from undercooked meat.

Burger Served on White Fabric Textile

The biggest worry is a type of E. coli called VTEC.

"About 1 in 10 people who get VTEC will develop severe complications affecting the blood and kidneys. The biggest risk is to children and older people.

"If there is VTEC in the middle of your burger, only proper cooking will kill it.

"If your burger is not well cooked in the middle you are taking a big risk,” Dr Gary added.

So, be careful next time you chomp down on a juicy burger!

We all love our work wives, the gal (or gals) who keeps you sane when the workload is all too much and knows your Starbucks order off by heart.

Having work besties is a complete blessing, and according to jobs website Totaljobs, 17 per cent of people have a work wife, and a further 48 per cent have close bonds with multiple colleagues.

'Work spouse relationships are formed between two people who bond intensely over workplace frustrations and stresses as well as triumphs and fun,' say Totaljobs, who have compiled quite a bit of data on the subject.

One of their most startling discoveries was the fact that 27 per cent of employees would consider leaving their jobs if their work wife left.

With almost a quarter of people saying they would choose to follow their work spouse out the door, that's some serious commitment.

A further 7 per cent said they would actually feel bereavement if their work wife left them for another company.

'This is potentially a huge loss to any business,' says Totaljobs.

'To foster retention companies would do well to promote strong employee bonds, whilst hiring for job and culture fit.'

'This can promote employee well-being, and more importantly keep those work spouses together.'

There is no denying the importance of establishing supportive, friendly relationships at work.

Whether it's a quick WhatsApp message to ask how that meeting went, or a full-on lunchtime venting session, having work spouses who know the exact culture of your work environment provides people with the comfort of discussing their shared experiences.

According to the study, this can make employees more motivated in their daily work life.
