Have you ever realised that you have no wine for the Easter weekend and have to dash to the shop, only to remember that it's Good Friday so you're stranded, wine-less for 24 hours?

Well, this Easter predicament will soon come to an end.

The Government is making moves to abolish the 90-year-old ban which prevents Irish stores from selling alcohol on Good Friday.

The Irish Times is reporting that the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald is expected not to oppose the bill.

Unfortunately, the change is likely to come into effect for Good Friday 2018, so we're still banned from buying a beverage this Easter Friday.

The lift is being welcomed by most Irish folk.

"Finally, no more forcing businesses and citizens to adhere to religious practice against their will," tweeted one.

"Abolishing the Good Friday ban is such a significant step towards separation of church and state. Brilliant news," said another.

Talks aimed at resolving the dispute at Bus Éireann are continuing at the Workplace Relations Commission this morning.

Talks were adjourned early yesterday morning without agreement.

Bus Éireann has now been striking for over two weeks, and thousands of commuters across Ireland have been impacted.

No services, other than school bus services, have been in operation since March 14.

Last Friday there was uproar across the country as Dublin Bus, Irish Rail and Dart Services all engaged in secondary strike action in solidarity with Bus Éireann, essentially bringing the country to a stand still.

However, the core issues of the Bus Éireann dispute still have not been resolved.

Police have confirmed that one man has been arrested and two suspects have been taken in for questioning regarding the crime which shook Sweden yesterday.

A truck drove into the Åhléns department store on Drottningsgatan in the Swedish capital, killing four people and injuring 15.

The man arrested was likely the driver of the hijacked vehicle.

"Yes, it is correct, it is likely him," police spokesman Lars Bystrom told The Associated Press.

The suspect is  a 39-year-old from Uzbekistan, according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Swedish media outlets are suggesting that the incident may be terrorist-motivated.

"If it is a terrorist attack, and regardless of whether it was carried out by an organisation or a lone perpetrator, the aim of terrorism is to undermine democracy, to sow discord between people so that more people will begin to hate and distrust one another," said Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven.

"But those kinds of acts will never succeed in Sweden. We know that our enemy is this kind of vile murderer – not one another. We will use all of Sweden's strength to track you down."

Emojis have integrated themselves into our day-to-day text speak, and have almost become a language of their own.

For this reason, we weren't too surprised when we discovered that emoji sheet masks were in existence, but they do look a little startling.

Social media savvy fans of the masks have been uploading their emoji selfies to Instagram, and the look is pretty out there.

From the crying cat emoji, to the angry face and the laughing with tears of joy emoji, all of the classics are covered.

The masks are by a brand called Petite Amie, and the Emoji Series of sheet masks are proving very popular.

The brand offers six emoji sheet masks, each of which are $10.00, or €9.42.

Each mask has a different, specific skin function based on the emojis themselves.

For example, the red angry face mask is said to calm redness and irritation.

The Korean beauty inspired masks are flying off the virtual shelves, and we're dying to get our hands on a set.

After all, what face mask could be more Instagram-worthy than an emoji-themed one?

There's bitter, and then there's Twitter user, Picasso.

After sharing a screenshot of messages he has been sending his ex girlfriend for more than three years, he's faced serious backlash from the Twitopshere who wasted no time suggesting he get himself a life.

Every day at 07.45, this guy says he takes a moment out of his life to troll his former girlfriend by texting various versions of 'I hate you' to her.

And while equally bitter Twitter users have lauded this lad, the more reasonable among them have intimated that the messages say more about Picasso than they he realises.

"I have never seen something so pathetic in my life. bro, go outside," wrote one while another added: "Ok? This is harassment?"

"So basically, she's on your mind every single day because you actually love her. Let go dude. How lame," opined another.

"Imagine being this desperate for ur ex's attention three years later," wrote someone else. (sic)

We're with them on that one.

There is nothing worse than nursing a killer hangover, and while the headache and dry mouth are bad enough, the hangover shakes are torture.

Shakiness is one of the ultimate giveaways that you've been hitting the G&Ts the night before, and truly gives life to the phrase: "I'm shook."

While we know we can put our banging headache down to dehydration and our sore muscles down to thinking we can twerk after a few beverages, we've often wondered: What actually causes shakiness during a hangover?

"The tremors and the sweats come from an overactive sympathetic nervous system; they’re withdrawal symptoms," Dr Alastair O'Brien from The London Clinic told Cosmo.

This is why the hair of the dog works so well, because you are essentially giving the body what it is craving.

"The hair of the dog will temporarily make you feel a bit better because some of the symptoms you are experiencing are a direct withdrawal effect," explained the doctor.

"After the first drink you feel like Superwoman; you feel brilliant, your sweats and shakes go away."

"After the second drink you’re back down where you were before. Your body is feeling bad for a reason, so listen to it!"

Your body is essentially "coming down" from all of the alcohol that you pumped into it the night before.

So, pints of water all around?

MTV’s annual Movie and TV Awards are undergoing a major revamp.

The ceremony will debut its new format on May 7, with a host of new categories and rule changes.

One of the biggest changes sees the introduction of ‘non-gendered’ awards.

This year, the traditional separation of the male and female categories has been dropped by the network and Hollywood's leading lads and lassies will instead compete in the same category, regardless of gender.

So, for the first time ever, Emma Watson will take on Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy in Best Actor in a movie while The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan will go head to head with Millie Bobby Brown and Emilia Clarke for best actor in a series.

The move is a huge step forward for gender equality in the industry, and many are hoping other award ceremonies will follow suit.

This year also marks the first time in the ceremony’s history that series on streaming services and television networks can receive nominations.

Leading the nominations is Get Out, directed by Jordan Peele. The horror will compete in for the top prize of Movie of the Year and the film's leading man, Daniel Kaluuya, also received a nod for Best Actor in a movie.

Disney’s Beauty and The Beast and Netflix’s Stranger Things also earned four nominations each.

You can catch the full list this year's nominees here.

According to emerging reports, three people have been killed after a truck crashed into crowds of people on a street in central Stockholm.

Several others have been injured.

It is understood that the vehicle crashed into the Åhléns department store on Drottningsgatan in the Swedish capital.

Swedish media outlets are suggesting that the incident may be terrorist-motivated, but details have yet to be confirmed.

"I went to the main street when a big truck came out of nowhere," one witness told Swedish publication Aftonbladet

"I could not see if anyone was driving it but it got out of control. I saw at least two being run over. I ran as fast as I could from there.

It has also been reported that shots have been fired in the area.

Twitter is currently awash with posts offering their support to the people of Stockholm.

If a woeful night's sleep results in a whopper binge, you're not alone.

Nothing brings on those pesky sugar cravings quite like a bad night’s sleep, and it’s a habit we could all afford to lose.

And, as usual, science is here to give us a helping hand.

A recent study published by The Feinbery School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago investigated the relationship between sleep deprivation and the brain’s sensitivity to food smells – and the results were interesting.

According to Science News, the sleep-deprived participants underwent MRI scans while being exposed to some unhealthy (but delicious) food smells such as chips and cinnamon rolls as well as non-food smells like fir trees.

Several weeks later, the experiment was repeated, however this time the participants had had a full eight hours of sleep.

So, here’s the science bit.

Study co-author Sarabhi Bhutani explains that when the participants were operating on just four hours of sleep, food smells prompted greater activity in the piriform cortex and the orbitofrontal cortex (the parts of the brain that recognise smells) than when they had a restful night’s sleep.

This difference in brain activity was not noted in response to non-food smells, leading researchers to believe there is a direct link between over-tiredness and excessive consumption.

So basically, get your beauty sleep and you’ll eat better too, it’s win-win!

A series of six short films produced by David Schwimmer have been met with considerable praise this week.

Part of a campaign entitled #ThatsHarassment, the former Friends star sought to highlight various incidents of sexual harassment perpetrated by men against women.

The ActorThe Co-workerThe DoctorThe BossThe Politician and The Photographer are a lesson in the sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious acts of harassment endured by women in everyday settings on a regular basis.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, the 50-year-old actor and director explained his motivation behind the campaign.

"The whole purpose of this is to encourage people and to give them the courage to speak out if they’re a victim themselves of harassment, or if they witness or are aware of sexual harassment," he said.

"Every woman in my family, in my life, has been harassed, constantly told that you aren't worth the same as men or what you look like comes first – it makes a lot more sense to me that a lot of women don't even recognise when they’re being harassed."

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and Emmy Rossum of Shameless fame also appear in the campaign.
