So what if all your friends are off having the time of their lives without you? Having a weekend to yourself is actually something to look forward to. A little down time never did anyone any harm, and there are PLENTY of things that need doing in the house….

Organise your bits and pieces
If you’ve got a busy lifestyle and aren’t meticulously tide 24 hours a day, chances are things have gotten a little bit messy. Now is the perfect time to file away your receipts, tidy your wardrobe, change your bed sheets, clean out your make up bag – all those things you always say you’re going to do but never seem to get the chance.

Catch up on your reading
Nothing beats curling up in a pair of clean pyjamas with a good book and a mug of tea. If you find you’re too tired after work to concentrate on a book, a weekend to yourself is the perfect opportunity to give your library card a work out.

Practice your cooking
It can be risky trying a new dish on a week night – you don’t have time for mistakes and probably just want something without too much fuss. At the weekend though you can try your hand at just about anything, and if it doesn’t work out? Well, that’s a lesson learned. Call the Chinese instead. Win, win.

Watch a film by yourself
Contrary to popular belief, watching a film by yourself does not make you a loser. If you don’t like crying in front of people but want to flush out those emotions, it’s the perfect time to watch Marley and Me, or if you’re not really a dog person, The Notebook should do the trick.

Get crafty
Remember that tea cosy you made in primary school? That was pretty good, right? Pick up those knitting needles, sewing kit or set of paints you have hidden at the back of the closet and let the creativity flow! Make personalized creations for home decor or customized gift for any occasion. And don’t forget to add printed labels for that final and unique touch.

Wowsa Kim Kardashian!

The reality star was seen out and about with her daughter Nori recently, looking every bit the glam mummy!

Kim’s daughter turned one on Sunday and she was seen sporting some diamond earrings, just like her mum loves.

Kim went for the shock factor in her recent outfit and we absolutely love her hair and make-up, which is very Brigitte Bardot inspired.

The rest of the outfit, a black pantsuit with a black blazer and low cut top, didn’t quite do Kim the justice she deserves.

It’s very dark for a daytime look and she doesn’t look particularly comfortable in it!

Although she’s had some serious fashion fails in the past, she has been seen in some amazing outfits as she geared up for her wedding last month.

Three Men and a Baby is a classic – how could you not love watching a young Tom Selleck coo over a tiny little baby after all?!

Well that baby, or babies to be specific (they used twins for the film) are all grown up! They were on the Today show talking about how their early acting careers affected their lives. Luckily enough, it didn’t send them down the same path as it did Lindsay Lohan.

The twins, Lisa Blair and Michelle Blair Ontonovich, decided to quit while they were ahead in their acting career. Michelle now works in insurance, and her sister has a career in customer service.

Michelle, who now has a five month old baby herself, explained how it wasn’t until they were teenagers that they started getting attention for their role in the film.

The twins’ mum Geriann Blair said that the girls getting cast in the film was “a bit of a fluke”.

“I was just bored at home on [maternity] leave and I heard about this casting call, thought it was just a scene in a movie, I had no idea it was a big major motion production.”

Ah, we love a good blast from the past!

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – Ireland’s week of summer is finally here! Apparently, we are experiencing something of a ‘heatwave’ this week.

If you think that today is hot, hot, hot, just wait until tomorrow with temperatures expected to soar up to 25 degrees.

Danielle Lowe, meteorologist with Met Eireann, spoke about tomorrow’s glorious weather expectations, saying: “Wednesday will probably be the warmest day. I predict the hottest temperatures will be around 25 degrees and it will probably be hottest in the west and mid-west.”

Time to dig the Sun Shimmer out, ladies, you’re going to need it tomorrow by the sounds of it!

Make sure to wear the SPF to protect yourself against sunburn and harmful UV rays.

Whether your big day is coming up or not, it’s hard not to be impressed by these amazing wedding dress creations.

Cheap-chic-weddings created a unique designer competition – where women had to create their own haute couture wedding gowns using nothing, but toilet paper.

The competition sponsored by Charmin (no surprises there) is in its tenth year and the dresses this year were so amazing, that you could easily imagined them being worn for someone’s special day.

Susan Brennan (bottom image) was crowned the winner and won the grand prize of $10,000. While we are in awe of these gorgeous dresses, we have to admit, they are probably not the most practical attire for our Irish weather.

You’ll never want to go the bakery again thanks to this easy and delicious chocolate caramel shortbread recipe.

What you’ll need:

  • 170g plain flour
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 120g butter
  • 397g tin condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 120g butter
  • 100g bar milk chocolate, melted

What you’ll need to do:

  1. Preheat your oven to 170 °C. Lightly grease your baking tin with butter.
  2. Sieve the flour and sugar into a large bowl. With clean hands, rub the butter into the mixture until it comes together in dough. Press it into the bottom of the cake tin, spread evenly and prick with a fork all over. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. While the shortbread is baking, pour the condensed milk, syrup, sugar and butter into a saucepan. Cook over a low heat, stirring all the time. Watch it closely, and when it turns a deep caramel colour, pour it over the baked shortbread.
  4. Allow the caramel mixture to cool for 30 minutes
  5. Then melt the chocolate in a microwave by checking and stirring every 10 seconds.
  6. When chocolate is melted pour over the caramel covered biscuits.
  7. Place the chocolate squares in the fridge for another 30 minutes to set.
  8. Then slice shortbread into squares, these delicious biscuits should keep for five days if stored in an airtight tin or the fridge.

Zayn Malik seems to have taken on the bad boy role in boy band One Direction, from drug scandals to posting suggestive selfies to his fans on Instagram.

The singer attracted over 100,000 likes and numerous complimentary comments after posting a topless selfie on Sunday evening. He captioned the photo ‘Lazy Sunday’ as he showed off his numerous tattoos and facial hair.

He obviously enjoyed the attention as he posted another sultry black and white shot the next day captioned “Beard getting long”.

We wonder how his fiancé Perri Edwards feels about her hubby-to-be reaching out for so much female attention, especially after all the rumours of his cheating?

While we can’t imagine life without our girls, many of our friends can get a little overexcited upon discovering that you’ve finally got a new man in your life. Here are some of the things that we probably don’t need to hear, but do anyway:

Oh My God! That’s great! Good for you!
A common reaction and while it’s a good sign that your friends are happy for you, they probably don’t need to shout their reaction from the roof tops either.

Is it serious?!
Your friends suddenly need to know everything – from where you are right now in the relationship to your future plans. Even if you say you’re just seeing how things go for now, they still need to know something about your current relationship status.

Will it get serious?
Again its early days and you don’t need to start planning for the future just yet.

You looked up his ex?
We all do a bit of Facebook creeping, but it’s never good idea to over think every his past relationships with your friends. Some things are best left in the past or just as a conversation between you and your boyfriend.

Why haven’t I met him yet?
The question all girls will ask and often the most difficult to answer. Meeting each other’s friends is a big deal and while your friends may want to meet him as soon as possible – this is probably something that should be only done, when both you and your boyfriend are ready.

Irish TV personality, columnist and author Amanda Brunker has lashed out at Irish model Tiffany Stanley after she posed for a photo with Chris Brown and said he was a gentleman.

Brunker said that Tiffany was letting the “peroxide go to her head” if she thought the rapper was a gentleman, adding:

“Chris Brown is of course the lad who beat up Rihanna and committed many a violent crime, but sure in Tiff ‘s eyes, we seem to have all misunderstood Chris.

“I say that because the blonde bombshell also declared that the punching popstar was, ‘a gentleman’ when she met him. Quite!”

Amanda later revealed that the reason she got so angry was because she has been abused herself:

“Apologies, having been a victim of domestic violence I kinda despise Chris Brown. I wish Tiff well…”

Tiffany did not lay back and take the criticism easily though, saying:

“I really could not care less about begrudging writers who need to fill column inches with unkindness.

“Posting a picture with Max Clifford might also be considered ‘fame hungry’ by many.”

Ouch, this looks like it could get very nasty.

Now that the summer is in full swing, it is time to bare our beautiful pins. Unfortunately, after being hidden from all forms of light for so long, they may not be in the best condition.

Here are five ways to ensure perfect pins for the summer:

Shave ‘em
If possible, book yourself an appointment with a beautician to have those legs waxed. But, if your budget doesn’t stretch that far shaving is your best option.

Exfoliate
Make sure you exfoliate your legs well before letting anyone see them – flaky legs are not a good look.

Fake it ’til you make it
Fake tan is great for making your legs look defined and flawless. Use a waterproof one – you know what the weather is like in Ireland – and don’t go overboard.

Moisturise
When your tan is dry, rub a little moisturiser down the centre of your shin. This will reflect the light, giving them a nice sheen. Why not go for one with a little added shimmer for added effect?

Exercise
Nobody wants wobbly thighs, so make sure you fit in a few lunges, a run or some dancing to have perfectly toned legs.

There were rumours circulating in the US last week about Beyoncé being pregnant with her second child – but now people are speculating the exact opposite.

Apparently, Queen Bey is refusing to have another baby with Jay-Z because of all the rumours about his cheating.

Since the elevator incident, Beyoncé is said to have been forced into seriously listening to these rumours of infidelity, and a source has said that as soon as the couple’s tour wraps up on August 6th a split will be inevitable.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are such experts in keeping up appearances at this stage, it’s impossible to know what to believe!
