footwear

Well, just when we thought we'd seen it all, something else comes along and knocks us off our feet.

Speaking of feet, an absolute fashion atrocity has been committed, and someone needs to call the police before this crime to humanity gets out of hand.

An Etsy shop owner is now selling custom Crocs for your special wedding day, which are covered in sparkling sequins and come in a range of colours. We feel attacked.

The company renowned for their comfortable, but controversially ugly shoes tried to change its footwear up with fanny packs and individual designer's 'Goth Crocs'.

This latest attempt to modernise their audience and cater for brides who don't want to be hobbling down the aisle in painful shoes may actually be successful, but they're fairly expensive.

Bridal Crocs are currently about €91 if bought online, minus shipping, due to the fact that they are custom made for the wedding day.

If the exorbitant price doesn't bother you, and you're seeking unbeatable comfort and sparkles for your special day, grab yourself a pair online now.

Maybe prepare yourself for the legions of people who will undoubtedly slag you all day though, just sayin'.

Common sense would suggest that in order to prolong the life of our footwear, we should make a point of giving them regular rest days.

In an ideal world, we would wear a different pair of (fabulous) shoes every single day to work, but let's be honest, the vast majority of us don't.

While we may have a wardrobe heaving under the weight of our shoe obsession, a shocking number of them rarely get more than a monthly outing, while others are rarely off our feet.

With a commute to consider and weather to battle against, many of us opt for our old reliables, which is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a surefire way to reduce their lifespan.

Whether it's a pair of practical trainers, handy ankle boots or comfy pumps, we tend to play favourites with our footwear, but if you want to get the most out of them, it's time to mix it up.

Getting the best out of your purchases on the shoe front means you need to take the advice of Jim Kass of American shoe empire Allen Edmonds.

"The best way to extend the life of your shoes is to rotate them and use quality shoe trees after each wear,” he told Business Insider.

“As you wear your shoes, the leather soaks up the perspiration your feet give off. If you wear the same pair everyday, your shoes don’t have ample time to dry and they won’t maintain their shape."

So, if your new boots are the light of your life and you want them to remain that way, you're going to have to cut the cord and accept that a couple of outings a week are all you guys will enjoy together.

Summer is fast approaching and that means so are our summer adventures.

But one thing that always comes between us and our adventures is those dreaded blisters and cuts from wearing the wrong shoes.

It happens year after year, holiday after holiday, and we still haven't learned to buy the right footwear.

Fashion over comfort doesn't always work so well, huh?

But now, FitFlop has launched its new SS17 flipflop, and all of our prayers have been answered.

Not only do they look super slick, but they have iQushion technology, which is lightweight and also contours into the shape of your foot.

FitFlop uses biomechanics in its footwear; a science that applies mechanical principals to the human body.

But is putting so much science into a pair of flipflops really worth it?

Hell yeah, if you don't want to have burning, sore, blistered feet at the end of the day.

The mechanics of this shoe pays attention to the pressure points and pressure lines of your foot, which means you get all day comfort.

Well, that's us sold.

Oh, and while we have you; don't forget to have your say in the inaugural SHEmazing Awards this May! It's time to vote, and you can do it right here!

Buying new shoes can be one of those expenses that cost a little bit more than one would like.

Luckily, Penneys new season shoes are absolutely amazing, and the high street bargain brand is nailing multiple trends with their perfectly designed footwear.

And being Penneys finest, they are all completely affordable.

Ballerina pumps with silver hardware, €13.00

Luckily, we're coming out of winter, and these strappy pumps are the perfect way to transition from boots to sandals without freezing your feet off.

The perfect way to add edge to any outfit, we're slightly obsessed with these buckled beauties.

Loafers €13.00

2017 was the year everyone became besotted with Gucci loafers, and Penneys is offering a designer look for a bargain price tag.

These loafers are ideal for work, paired with jeans and a white shirt.

Luckily, they can also be dressed up heading into summer, with a mini skirt and faux fur gillet.

Ballerina flats €9.00

A nod to last seasons Miu Miu ballerina flats, these ribbon-tie shoes are completely adorable.

Pair with a dreamy dress for a girly outfit, or try them with mom jeans and a ruffed jumper for off-duty model style.

Pink satin runners €15.00

Comfort is always high on our agendas when it comes to footwear, so these runners caught our eye immediately.

The pink satin finish is extremely cute, and the baby pink laces match perfectly.

Peep toe boots, €25.00

Want something a little more daring?

These over-the-knee, peep-to boots are extremely cool, and would look stylish when paired with a ruffled dress, or even over jeans teamed with a bardot top.

Can Penneys do no wrong?

Flip flops and gladiator sandals are all well and good, but come Autumn/Winter there’s nothing quite like a new pair of boots.

And while we are loving this year’s backless loafer trend, with plenty of rain guaranteed for the coming months, we think a decent pair of boots would fare the Irish fashionista that bit better.

On that note, here are three of our favourite boot trends for Autumn/Winter.

The Sock Boot: Sock boots are everywhere this season and with every colour, texture and heel height to choose from, there’s bound to be a pair to suit all tastes.

The Trophy Boot: Why not let your feet do the talking with a pair of on point trophy boots?  From soft floral embroidery to stand-out animal prints, the trophy boot is one of A/W16’s best trends.

The Over-The-Knee Boot: This style was everywhere last winter and with The Guardian dubbing it the “footwear [trend] of the decade” we don’t think it’s going anywhere fast.  Whether worn with a short suede skirt or over a pair of jeans, the over-the-knee boot will have you Autumn/Winter ready.

Fashion lovers, rejoice! Storm Keating has announced that she is launching a new boot range, and they actually look quite slick.

The Aussie beauty took to Insatgram to share the news, telling her followers that she is partnering up with luxury bootmaker Stivaleria Cavallin.

"Proud to announce the launch of my new range if boots. A collaboration with #StivaleriaCavallin – not only the masters of luxury footwear but also a @positiveluxury brand #Brands YouCanTrust," she captioned the snap.

The TV producer is wearing her new boots in the picture – navy, suede and leather thigh high boots – and we want them already.

She also let her fans know that more details are coming soon, and we can't wait to see the styles in store.

Every Christmas season there's a key festive fashion stable that seems to take over.

And this year – we're particularly taken with the red fringe shoes that are on a whole load of seriously stylish feet right now.

Better still: two killer versions are available in two of our favourite stores – River Island AND Penneys.

This version from River Island is now reduced to €45

Previously, the former pair were priced at a cool €75, but it's now come to our attention that riversland.com (as well as stores nationwide) has marked them down to just €45.

Thank you, wardrobe gods!

But here's the spanner in the works: Penneys is selling its red fringe shoes for just €19. And other than a little tassel detail on the ankle, they are remarkable similar.

The offering from Penneys is priced at just €19

So what's a gal to do?!

Well, we'd only be delira with either offering: indeed, a quick reconnaissance mission to Penneys and River Island – along with a bank balance evaluation – should help us along our way.

Furthermore, we've been reminded that there plenty more footwear gems lurking about in both stores.

Here's what caught our eye in particular (and can you guess which is which?):

left River Island, €60
right Penneys, €18

left Penneys, €20
right River Island, €45 (reduced from €80)

Winter is the best time of the year to invest in some great footwear so we were delighted to hear our fave Irish comic queen has returned with another shoe collection for us to drool over.

The ever stylish Hubes posted a pic to her instagram yesterday from her latest campaign with Bourbon footwear. Her fifth collection with the footwear retailer features a wide range of styles and colours from metallic pointed heels to suede charcoal grey boots.

Speaking to Xpose, Amy picks the delectable ‘Forever Young’ grey suede high heeled boot as her favourite from the collection, calling it her ultimate “dressy shoe boot.” Available from just €119.99, these boots are perfect to get you through the party season.

Amy has revealed that her different shoe types are named after some of her favourite films. For example, the Bullitt is named after a 1968 film by Steve McQueen. Cute! There is also the ‘Atonement’ (a peep-toe heel), the ‘Fame’ (a sparkly ankle boot) and the ‘Grease’ (a biker boot of course!).

The 'Sixteen Candles' in Blush €99.99
The 'Grease' Biker Boot in Noir €129.99,
The 'Singing in the Rain' boot in Couch €129.99
The 'Working Girl' Flat in Pewter €99.99

Lucky for us all the collection is already available to peruse online, but make sure you are quick because certain styles are already selling out.

We are counting down the days to payday!

While we enjoy sandals and summer fashion as much as the next girl, there is something about winter boots that we kind of love.

To be fair, kicking around piles of crunchy leaves doesn't have quite the same appeal if you're going to end up with soggy foliage stuck between your toes.

This is why we get very excited when seriously stylish winter boots appear in the shops. We don't love the possibility of blisters or sore ankles however. To avoid any unnecessary aches we put together some clever footwear hacks to keep your toes comfy.

Deodorant FTW:

That Achilles' heel gash is not pretty. To prevent your shoes from digging into your skin, take a stick of clear deodorant and rub over any problem areas. The deodorant provides a barrier between you and the shoe.

Time for tea:

And if, despite your best efforts, you still find yourself home with painful blister-covered feet, rest assured, there is a cure: Fill a pot with cooled green tea and soak your swollen feet. Its anti-inflammatory properties will work wonders on tender areas that are achy and inflamed.

Sand your shoes:

Those new Mary Janes are adorable, but sliding down a flight of stairs is…not. Grab a piece of fine-grit sandpaper and gently scuff up the bottoms before wearing them in public.

Invest in insoles:

Sometimes even flat boots can hurt us.  A pair of slim cushions won’t take up room but will work wonders on that stiff pair of flats or heels.

Heel caps:

For the times when you just can’t make it to the cobbler, this genius invention is all you really need. Pop a cap on the end of worn-down heels and no more rolled ankles, or embarrassing stumbles.

Tape your toes:

Tape your third and fourth toes together with medical tape. There’s a nerve located directly between these two toes and wrapping them helps minimize any strain. Extreme, but if you're set on wearing your favourite new shoes despite the agony they cause, maybe you will give it a go.

We've waited a while for this!

Almost a year ago, Rihanna was named as the Creative Director of Puma. Her new role was to "create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio."

Seems simple enough, but as the months went by, there was no sign of anything Rihanna-based coming from the footwear brand.

Yesterday, pictures were uploaded to Instagram which gave a sneak peak into the new shoe box and footwear which might mean the singers designs are coming soon!

Although the box looks a bit bruised and battered, we're looking forward to this release since Ri-Ri has been wearing one-of-a-kind Puma runners for months now! They will be hitting stores late September and will have multiple colourway options.

We're ready for them!

It seems like Moschino designer Jeremy Scott isn't the only one to embrace their inner Barbie girl.

All-around amazing footwear fanatic Sophia Webster has taken a page from the book of pop-culture in her latest capsule shoe collection.

The range is inspired by the iconic doll herself – the very one who has always boasted a wardrobe to make Anna Wintour jealous.

It features a range of heels, sandals, pumps and flats (because Barbie can wear flat shoes now). And it is certainly everything you would expect it to be.

Collaborating with Mattel's Barbie doll, the footwear dons all the girlish adornments, shine, sparkle and shades of pink that are her signature colour.

Sophia is obviously a Barbie fan as she seems very excited about her new footwear collection.

"Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting and deeply personal."

"I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality".

This really is a match made in Barbie Dreamhouse heaven as the whimsical, girly and imaginative designs are perfectly girly.

This summer is bringing with it some serious fashion trends. Whether its mermaid hair for men, or the crop tops with staying power, there’s something for everyone.

Fashionistas everywhere were cheering when it was unearthed that their feet were no longer going to be aching in the name of fashion.

Pencil thin stiletto heels and those clunky smelly festival wellies can take a back seat, this summer your trusty trainers are making a big comeback. Kanye West managed to have Dublin’s BT2 sell out of his new design in less than a day.

You can wear them at almost every occasion this season, such is the variety.

At a festival

A solid coloured crop and your favourite denim cut offs make the perfect match for your favourite retro style runners. Less fuss than strappy sandals and guaranteed to keep your toes a touch warmer.

Soaking up the sun poolside

Heading on holidays? Throw some light weight trainers in your luggage to add some colour to your life. Seeing as everyone loves to customise their footwear so much these days, you could even have yours match your bikini if you really want to dedicate yourself to the feet on fleek aesthetic.

Weekend BBQ

If you did manage to get yourself a pair of Kanye’s Yeezy boost 350s, then this would be the time so show them off. They would also make for a great conversation piece. Just because Kanye. Casual, yet chic, trainers paired with a sweet jumpsuit (sans wild prints) make for the most comfortable style.
