As Kendall Jenner is firing down the runway for the Victoria Secret 2018 Fashion show, things aren't so hot for Kim Kardashian.

In an Instagram story, the 38-year-old revealed that she has been forced to flee her Calabasas' home.

California wildfires have been tearing through the celebrity-filled valley.

"Just landed back home and had one hour to pack up and evacuate our home," she said.

The Kardashian sister also praised the hard work of the emergency departments.

She wrote: "Firefighters are arriving. Thank you for all that you do for us!!!"

Kim asked fans to pray for the LA city as she snapped a haunting picture of the valley engulfed in flames.

Thousands have been evacuated in the Northern California area as wildfires have been causing havoc.

According to reports, authorities have said there have been a number of unconfirmed casualties.

And as Kim said, we hope everyone is safe.

She embodied a peacock that had fallen from the Christmas heavens in her glam bedazzled top and black, lacy lingerie.

Her sexy, plaid skirt and bra channelled her inner school girl gone wild.

There are on average 70,000 internships in the UK and 40 per cent of these are unpaid.

Applying for a job straight out of college can be a terrifying experience. When I was job searching, it was an all day, every day effort.

I would be scouring Job.ie, Indeed, Glassdoor – basically creating any type of job alert there was. There is a short window and tremendous financial pressure to take the first thing you can find in a limited market.

The majority of jobs require ample work experience in a particular field, leaving us with the limited choice of finding a fitting internship. Unfortunately, many of the internships I found were unpaid, particularly in more creative fields (film, journalism, media, etc.)

As living with my family was not an option, this opportunity simply wasn’t a possibility for me, but paid internships (with no required work experience) are a rare occurrence indeed in Ireland.

But with the rent prices at an all time high in Dublin, young people cannot afford to take a long-term, full-time unpaid job.

This is why stricter laws need to be enforced on these exploitative internships that take advantage of desperate entry-level workers, basically using them for free labour.

What are the current laws regarding unpaid internships?

Since the popular JobBridge scheme (disbanded in 2016), struggling and small companies in particular have heavily advertised these positions because they do not have the resources to properly pay an employee.

The Minimum Wage Act of 2000 guarantees that all employees must be paid minimum wage, however there are a few loopholes companies can use to slide their way around this ‘requirement’.

The first of these is by not hiring an ‘employee’. Instead, they are very careful to specify their need for an ‘intern’. And as solicitors point out, there is no legal definition of an intern under Irish law.

The second loophole is that there are no laws specifically restricting advertising unpaid work. So, companies can place a posting for these positions even if they're technically not allowed to hire someone on that basis.

Also, a Government Intern and/or a Work Experience scheme are exempt from minimum wage laws and allow for different rights. And please stay away from anything labelled as a mentorship for this can be fancy lingo for no intern or employee rights.

Basically, it is up to the employee to follow up with the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) if they feel they are being taken advantage of at their internship.

The government's reasoning behind supporting these internships is for the sole purpose of education, not free labour.

According to The Irish Times, an unpaid internship is supposed to be a simple shadowing experience, where you follow an employee and observe his or her day-to-day tasks but do NOT do any work.

If you are asked to do work equivalent to that of the rest of the workforce and what you do is valued by the company, this gives you the right to file a complaint with the WRC and get the wages you deserve.

For example, if you are asked to do admin work (take phone calls, make appointments, etc.) you are essentially replacing a secretary and are doing work for free. However, if you are just following a salesperson around the office who is educating you on the job’s requirements, then that can be called an unpaid internship (educational learning).

And companies are fully aware of these laws. In fact, the Dublin InQuirer emailed companies who had postings for unpaid internships, asking for comments and the companies immediately removed their postings.

Many post these jobs in informal ways (social media and third-party sites) to avoid the spotlight and any legal follow-ups.

But what if your dream internship is unpaid and you think it will give you an in with the company?

Forbes recently published a shocking report showing that the hiring rates for those who have done unpaid internships is almost the exact same as those who did no internship at all.

Those who took unpaid internships also accepted lower salaries at entry-level jobs when compared to their peers, proving that there are no benefits to sacrificing your time, energy, and skills for an unpaid job.

In conclusion, unpaid internships do not benefit young people whatsoever. They also discriminate against those from lower class families. They cannot afford the luxury of working for free for the average six to nine-month long position.

This leaves some stuck in a disadvantaged cycle and forces many Irish graduates to emigrate abroad in search for paid work.

These types of internships should be limited to a maximum of four weeks, be publicly advertised (holding them legally accountable), and be integrated more into higher level education.

Bodies.

They come in all shapes and sizes, right?

Curvy, slender, tall, short etc. etc. – but all gorge none the less.

So why, when it comes to something oh-so-normal like a hip dip, do people feel like they can't show it off in all its glory?

Are unrealistic and increasingly difficult-to-reach standards set by social media to blame?

Ok so first up, what is a hip dip?

They are an inward curve on each side of your body, just below the hip bone. Some women have quite prominent ones, some don't – pretty standard and deffo nothing to be ashamed of…because it's your body and it's normal.

That's all well and good until social media begins to poke its nose in and declare something natural like a hip dip is something worthy of being banished.

Ads boasting titles like ''how to lose those hips dips'' began to appear on Insta and women were beginning to ask why…and worryingly, question if their hip dips were something they should be tryna lose.

Many took to Twitter to hit out at these dangerous ads and to say that they're happy with their bodies as they are, thank you v much.

One hit the nail on the head when she tweeted, ''sorry, but it’s 2018. We’re out here loving all women and ourselves, time to stop conforming to Instagram beauty standards.''

Amen, sister.

So what effect is this having on us and our view of our bodies?

If the influencers that we follow are editing their bodies so much that they're actually morphing into a version of themselves that isn't real, what kind of false impression does that give us about our body image?

Carys Gray is an influencer who has been quite vocal about this – and she is v v pro-hip dip.

She wrote that, ''if anyone else has these cute ass hip dips then you should rock them…For 20 years I've picked at areas of my body I hate but not once did I pick up on these! A few years ago I would have  felt insecure and wanted to change them. Now I don't care what other people think looks good on women or not. I think they're cool.''

However, some women are not as positive about them and are even going so far as to get filler injected in their hips to create a curvier shape.

this is known as a ''hip job.'' (what next?!)

Dr Ross Perry, GP Dermatologist explains the procedure: ''firstly, create a pocket between the skin and muscle to put an actual "implant" in, that is specifically shaped for this area. Secondly, use fat from your body that is harvested and are injected into this area.''

Wtf?!

According to New York plastic surgeon Arthur W. Perry, most people have a bit of fat over their hips and then a depression or a ''hip dip'' and then fat over the outer thigh and it is NOTHING to do with being overweight so procedures like a hip job are crazily unnecessary.

So lads, if you're part of the hip dip gang, show them off loud and proud and don't edit them out of your social images.

Embrace and love your body because it is perf as it is.

Cats and dogs have been, for a long time, man’s companions, pets, a part of your family. But with the new technology wave spreading nowadays, the digital era brings a new type of invention, a new type of ‘pets’: robot pets.

Robot pets – What are they.

An artificial intelligence, AI for short, inside a machine, a robot pet is, as the name implies, a robot designed in the shape and size of a common pet: dog, cat or even bird. Made to be similar in attitude and behaviour with a real animal, robot pets are used to help elderly people that, for various reasons, cannot keep a pet.

The robots are supposed to help with dark emotions, like depression, to keep the elderly active, maintaining their wish to live, fresh. But with the creation of such robot pets, comes the question everyone asks at the end. Can robot pets really replace real dogs and cats? The answer is simple: it depends on the individual.

There are numerous benefits when it comes to owning a robot pet:

Helps with several mental illnesses

Several mental illnesses, like depression or dementia, are, in the long run, hard to cure. By using robotic pets, there has been an increase in relaxation and lack of stress in the elderly people diagnosed with such illnesses.

They not only respond better to the caretakers, but they also are more active, more sociable, engaging in discussions and interaction with other fellow patients. The pets provide the necessary emotional support for the patient to take a step forward in a positive way.

Does not bring additional costs aside its acquisition

Once you buy the robotic pet, there are no other future costs. It will not require medicine, treatment, food or water to survive. With several types of robotic pets already on display, there are sure to be some affordable robot dogs or cats you can ‘adopt’ and bring into your family.

Is ideal for those who suffer from allergies, as it does not shed

Allergies are not something you can control fully. Some people are born that way; some acquire allergies in their lifetime.

Those who are allergic to animal fur, but still wish to have a pet, can now have their dream come true. They do not need to compromise anymore, as the robotic pets do not shed and have no real fur.

According to what model of robot you choose, they might have a synthetic coat over their mechanical body that imitates the way real fur looks like, on the one hand. On the other hand, if you prefer a more mechanical look to it, you can choose one that will satisfy your taste.

Does not need cleaning

As they do not eat and drink, they do not defecate. So you do not have to take them outside for them to do their business, nor do you need to clean after them while indoors.

They will not misbehave

Everyone who owns a real pet, be it dog or cat, has come face to face with the situation in which the pet misbehaved.

A friend came to visit you and your dog jumped up and down, barked and tried to bite your friend? Did your cat act aggressively, trying to scratch the one who wanted to pet it?

With the robot pets such misbehaviour does not exist. They are programmed to recognise you as their owner no matter what, their expressions and actions already installed in their memory. Or, if you are good at computers, you can also download and instal several other tricks for your robotic friend to perform.

In contrast to the benefits a robotic pet can have, there are a series of downsides that, for many, are just a deal breaker.

However, there are also undeniably drawbacks in terms of owning a robot pet:

It only has a limited set of actions and cannot respond to you directly

They already have programmed in their memory what type of actions trigger what effect. For example, a cat will only purr if you pet it on the back, while a dog will wag its tail only if you pet it on the head. If you do any other type of action and expect the robots to either purr or wag their tail, you are going be disappointed as they will not do anything.

It may break down unexpectedly

You never know when it might break down. Some products do need to recharge their ‘energy’, but others may use a more advanced and complex system that does not require batteries or recharging. If one of such products breaks down, the only way to repair it might be to send it back to its producer and have it replaced with a new one.

No walk

Robot pets do not need to be taken out for a walk. And while this might seem attractive at first, on the long run it is a major drawback. Walking your dog is highly beneficial to both yours and your dog’s health. You get to exercise, you have a way to meet new people, and you relax and avoid over-stressing while the dog gets his energy level down a notch while doing its ‘doggy business’. But with robotic pets, your healthy lifestyle might suffer.

Does not provide the emotional achievement of training or interacting with a real pet

Pets, no matter what type, have their own way to show their affection, to communicate and interact with you. Moreover, when you finally manage to train your dog or you receive your cat’s affection, you get a feeling of fulfilment, of serenity, of achievement.

When robot pets are concerned, there is no such feeling. They are already programmed to do certain things and to offer you their ‘unconditional love’. But at the end of the day, robots do not have feelings, and they cannot compensate for yours.

No emotions

A pet will feel sad when you leave it alone for too long and will be a cute, furry joy-ball when it sees you. There is no dog that will not wag its tail as soon as it sees its owner. It will do anything in its power to grab your attention in order to receive a few affectionate words or a pat on the head.

A robot pet, however, is another story. If left alone it will enter a standby state, in which it will try to imitate ‘sleep’. It might fall under the ‘cute’ category at first, but as the time passes, you might feel the need to be ‘asked’ for attention by your pet.

A robot is not capable of doing so while putting feelings and emotions into the act itself. Sure, it might emit certain sounds and noises to get your attention because its battery is running out, but it will never behave like a true, real, animal.

In conclusion, despite being a new trend, and despite having their own benefits, robot pets still have a very long road ahead before there is any chance for them to replace a breathing, loving cat or dog.

Fans are calling Yvonne Connolly an “amazingly brave, strong woman” for her words on RTÉ’s Cutting Edge.

The stylish mum opened up about her ex-husband Ronan Keating’s affair with a dancer named Francine.

Her and Ronan share three children together and had been married 17 years before they split in 2015.

She initially found out that Ronan was cheating by seeing his constant calls in their shared phone bill and decided to meet up with the dancer herself to see if her story matched her husband’s.

“I did get in touch with the girl involved, and I arranged to meet her in a hotel — my hotel, which she did,” the former model said.

"I just needed answers. I just needed the truth, and I needed to make sure stories collaborated. It was very hard to figure out who you can trust.

“So this was the answer to it — I was going to meet this girl, a quick 20-minute conversation, and we’d be done and dusted.

"And in fairness to her, she came and met me. But the 20-minute conversation turned into a couple of bottles of wine and hours later.”

“After a few hours I realised she needed it as much as I did and I know it sounds very dramatic, but she was as much as a victim as I was. I think we both got something from it.”

When the two parted ways, they both gave each other a hug and wished each other well.

And fans have reached out on Twitter commending Yvonne for the “grace” she had in handling the heartbreaking situation.

“In awe of how classy Yvonne Connolly is on Cutting Edge. She’s a million times better than Ronan Cheating will ever be,” said one comment.

“You were a silent woman in your marriage,” said another. “You are an amazing woman and mother and have come to be yourself after your separation from Ronan. Well done for your honesty.”

“You were excellent tonight, Yvonne. Very inspirational with regard to betrayal. You’ve moved on faster than I can but you gave me hope, so thank you”.

One man dubbed the stunning mum “engaging, honest, and lovely as ever”.

Yvonne went on to say that her divorce was actually good for her. “When my marriage broke up, I regained my identity and confidence."

Fair play to Yvonne for conducting her reaction to a terrible situation with the utmost class.

Her honesty has inspired so many others in similar circumstances to remain strong.

This week, a barrage of bloggers and influencers were driven around Dublin city it what can only described as one of the most eclectic vehicles in the county.

The Vintage Tea Tour Bus hit the road to celebrate the launch of a brand new venture by esteemed Irish makeup artist, Aimee Connolly.

The bus, hosting the likes of Holly Carpenter, Niamh Cullen, Faces by Grace and James Patrice, looped around Dublin's south inner city, as it's patrons enjoyed the opportunity to catch up, snack on afternoon tea, and get up to speed on a product Aimee has been working on that is set to solve one of our main makeup problems.

Aimee, know for her distinctively pared-back, softly contoured makeup style at a time when 'more is more' is the makeup mantra of many, has created the remedy to an issue many women face when shopping for a face palette.

Generally, face palettes are built to cater to numerous demographics, and so can include a wildly varying shade range to appeal to many.

This can often lead to a couple of shades in the palette being used, while one or two are left undisturbed by your beauty blender.

We have all seen this in action – in our very own makeup bags.

That deep bronze in your contour palette you simply cannot use thanks to it's dark undertones remains untouched as all the rest of your pans empty, or that icy pink highlight in your strobing set is too light and washes our your rich colouring, so it gets tossed when the rest of the palette is used up.

We often end up buying palettes based on our fondness for most of the shades, accepting that some wont work for us, but purchase anyway as a means to access the colours we do like.

'The reason why I went for the face products initially is because I used to love how simple it was to make someone look amazing,' Aimee told SHEmazing previously.

'People I think used to think that there was a lot more layers to contouring then there actually was.'

'I thought how good it would be to have a handy kit that’s more towards the easy approach to contouring and not the full cream contour.'

Her original palettes, The Sculpted Palette and The Sculpted Rose Gold Edition Set, have been helping Irish men and women achieve a heavenly glow and carved cheekbones since their launch, but Aimee wanted to hone her offering to makeup lovers further by making her palette a personal experience for each person.

And so, The Custom Edition was conceived, and as it's name suggests, the new palette is completely and totally customisable for the person who seeks it out.

The four pan Revolutionary Refillable Palette comes empty (a steal at €9.00), and makeup lovers than have the opportunity to build their own, completely bespoke, face palette from a selection of 12 options.

The looks Aimee has created, Royal Rose, Golden Girl and Bronzed Bombshell, each have four elements, a cream base, a bronzer, a highlighter and a blush (Aimee is all about EVERYONE wearing blush to create a natural glow).

Each of these 12 pans can then be slotted into the palette in any way you see fit – you could take the blush and base from Royal Rose, the bronzer from Golden Girl and the highlight from Bronzed Bombshell, or any other combination that takes your fancy.

Or, if you're just after highlights, you could choose two cream bases and two highlights to create your own bespoke strobing palette, complete with one set for a day-to-day look, and one for a tanned, glam night look. The possibilities are pretty much endless.

The individual pans are a steal at just €8.00, and The Custom Edition launches in stores today and tomorrow.

You can nab them at various pharmacies nationwide, including Cara Pharmacies, and Sam McCauley Chemists and Meagher's Pharmacies.

They're also already online, from Cloud 10 Beauty and AimeeConnolly.com.

Men and women deal with break-ups in different ways.

Some sign themselves up for three solid months of gorging on Ben & Jerry's and not changing out of their pjs and others, well, they get right back in the saddle.

When it comes to having sex again after a relationship comes to an end, the figures are kinda surprising.

A new study says that 44% of men and 23% of women admit to feeling good after hooking up, post-split. .

And how long do most men wait before jumping into bed with someone new?

Three months, while the research showed that women tended to wait five months.

How do these people meet their next hook-up?

It seems that through mutual friends is the most common way, with dating apps like Tinder and Bumble coming  second and at a bar coming in third.

The study also found some pretty interesting facts and figures about dating.

When it comes to lying, men and women were least truthful about the number of people they’ve slept with, followed by income for men and weight for women.
