Former Love/Hate star Johnny Ward has been confirmed as the eighth contestant for RTÉ One's Dancing With The Stars.

Known for his bad boy roles, the actor is choosing to take on his most challenging performance yet- on the dancefloor.

The actor is known for playing the character of Pauley in Love/Hate, and played Gino in Coppers the Musical this year.

He made the announcement on RTÉ One's Today with Maura and Dáithí, saying that his sights are most definitely set on winning the coveted glitter ball trophy.

Speaking about taking part in the hit show, Johnny commented;

"For once I get to be a gentleman rather than a psychotic gangster, kidnapper or clamper! I’m really looking forward to joining the show and leaning a new skill. The nerves are there but I’m up for the challenge and loving every minute of the experience.”

Johnny will now join Clelia Murphy, Mairead Ronan, Eilish O’Carroll, Denis Bastick, Darren Kennedy, Fred Cooke and Holly Carpenter on series three of the show.

Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne are joining forces this year to present the new series of Dancing with the Stars. Each week, 11 celebrities will pair up with professional dance partners and compete to stay in the competition.

The show will start on RTÉ One on Sunday January 6, and is running for 12 weeks. The expert panel of judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson will be deciding the dancers' fates, as well as the viewing public.

Can’t Stop Dancing, the preview show for Dancing with the Stars hosted by Bláthnaid Treacy will be back on Friday, January 4 on RTÉ One.

Get ready for the glitz and glamour of the fight for the glitter ball trophy, luckily the first two weeks have no eliminations.

Most of us will most likely remember the absolute legend that is Natalie Portman going totally off-script at the 2018 Golden Globe awards.

She made a point of saying; "And here are the all-male nominees" for the Best Director award, which Guillermo del Toro took home the statue for.

Her blatant criticism of the lack of female directors nominated during award season was entirely fair, considering only ONE WOMAN has ever won the Best Director award, and only FOUR have ever been nominated.

Ron Howard GIF by Golden Globes

The 76th Golden Globes nominations were unveiled today, and the Foreign Press Association followed their pattern of honouring zero female directors.

Bradley Cooper for A Star is Born received a Best Director nomination, as did Peter Farrelly for Green Book, Spike Lee for BlacKkKlansman, Adam McKay for Vice and Roma film-maker Alfonso Cuaron.

Of course, each of those film-makers are masters of their craft, but the act of continuously excluding women is setting a precedent of inequality and lack of representation.

Barbara Streisand remains the sole woman to have ever won the best director award; she was the first director to be nominated for her film Yentl in 1984. She was nominated again in 1992 her iconic piece The Prince of Tides.

In the category itself, only four women have been nominated overall after Streisand. Jane Campion was nominated for The Piano in 1994, Sofia Coppola scored a nomination in 2004 for the amazing Lost in Translation, Kathryn Bigelow was recognised in 2010 for The Hurt Locker in 2010 and in 2013 for Zero Dark Thirty.

Ava DuVernay became the first black woman to receive a nomination in 2015 for Selma.

The Academy Awards show the exact same sequence of events, with a historic lack of diversity in the category time and time again.

Kathryn Bigalow is the only woman to have ever won the best director Oscar for The Hurt Locker, with Campion, Lina Wurtmuller and Sofia Ford Coppola being the only other women to have been nominated.

Prognosticators thought a number of female directors could be recognised this year, including Elizabeth Chomko, Karyn Kusama, Marielle Heller, Lynne Ramsay, Tamara Jenkins and Josie Rourke.

We need to see different perspectives, different points of view, different voices being heard; it is always a troubling blueprint of our society when only one story is relentlessly being told.

Let's hope 2019 brings some change to the industry, for everyone's sake.

Our relationship with food is always evolving and we always look forward to locking our lips around something new.

The good people at Deliveroo have assembled to predict five food trends that will dominate our plates for 2019.

Based on their food expertise – the future of food looks vegan, low-waste and drool worthy.

1. Healthy Frozen Savouries

A post shared by Carolin Strothe (@frauherzblut) on

Clearly the lovely people of Ireland have ignored any advice of avoiding avocado in order to afford a house, as the food platform has seen a massive demand for the tasty fruit and of course, the food God that is hummus.

But for next year, it looks like we will be tucking into savoury and healthy ice creams, but it'll be vegan and veggie variations that we will be obsessing over.

2. Root to Tip Cooking

The sense of urgency to reduce our food waste is a prominent problem on our minds this year and the conscious eco-effort is being brought into the new year.

Root to Tip Cooking, involving the use of the full vegetable is a method of days gone by but will return and bring cooking back to basics.

Deliveroo predicts that restaurant partners on the platform will introduce innovative ways to reduce daily waste, by using the likes of root vegetable leaves to make tasty and flavoursome pestos to accompany dishes – big high five for this one.

3. Fermented Food and Drink

They're good for your gut and they've been popping up all over the place in the last 12 months.

Their popularity has been seen by the food delivery service with the rise of pickles and sauerkraut.

Breaking through the fermentation process for 2019 will be more orders and variety of kombucha – AKA the holy drink for the ole gut.

4. Flexitarianism

The vegans are coming and nothing is stopping their rise. Vegan-friendly options have exploded on Deliveroo, increasing by 100 percent.

73 percent more vegan orders were placed on the platform in 2018.

And it looks like it isn't slowing down any time soon, as Deliveroo predicts an increase in Flexitarianism, where customers will dip in and out of meat dishes in favour of #MeatlessMonday and #GreenSunday.

5. Sea Snacks

According to global trend forecasters, sea vegetables and greens will become a regular addition to diets next year.

Get ready to tuck into kelp noodles to puffed savoury snacks made with algae.

And it doesn't come as a huge surprise as they've already seen an increase of 59 percent in seafood orders.

We've always wanted to get on the property ladder – but owning a private Island just sounds so much better.

And if you have a cool €2 million lying around, this Mermaid Isle in Ireland could be your new home.

Now if that doesn't sound very realistic, don't worry.

You could always grab your mates, band your money together as there is PLENTY of room on this Isle.

Located in this Kenmare Bay, the main residences on the 25 acres boasts a kitchen / dining area pitch-pine kitchen island, library, fitness room, laundry, studio, offices, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

But that's not all, you'll also have a one-bedroom cottage.

The residence also includes a kitchen custom counters, conservatory sun room with dining and sitting areas, bathroom electric shower, washer and dryer – not too shabby at all.

Of course, every good isle comes with a place to moor our large yacht that we have laying around the place.

But it just keeps getting better, the mermaid paradise comes with seal rookery and crystal clear protected ocean water for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving – you know, just in case the parents come to visit.

It has a garden / waterfront sitting areas, a mature garden, extensive tide pools and ancient ruins on both mainland and island, two boat launching areas and moorings and three acres of turbary rights.

Now I've just looked at my bank account and have 49c to my name, so it's probably time to start looking for a sugar daddy.

This place is just too good to pass up.

Glastonbury headliners are always a MAJOR deal, it's Coachella's British, more down-to-earth cousin, and the festival has attracted some of the music industry's biggest names since it began.

2018 saw the Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve headline the world class event, and now Mel B has let slip some possibly high-profile secrets regarding The Spice Girls and the infamous festival.

After selling out all nine of their stadium shows for their 2019 reunion tour, Scary Spice has now divulged that their sights are set on a huge career marker for the four-piece act, which is missing Posh Spice (sob).

Mel B let slip that "talks" are being carried out with bosses Michael and Emily Eavis, but she admits it would be a bit gas to bring their cheesy pop vibes to the edgy music festival stage.

"Glastonbury? It’s been talked about," she told The Sun on Thursday. "But we’re so pop and it’s so cool — that’ll be funny to me."

"I think Mel C would really appreciate us doing that — she’s the cool one. She’s the cool indie chick."

Victoria Beckham is bowing out of their reunion, which disappointed fans who wanted the clique back to their best.

So far, only Stormzy has been announced as Glastonbury's next headliner, who will perform on the Pyramid Stage in June 2019.

Emma Bunton has said that it would be 'nice' (don't gush, Emma, it's only Glasto…) and Mel C has expressed an interest in the headliner slot since May.

During their six-year pop reign, The Spice Girls never performed on a single music festival stage. The band became a hit back in 1994 but split when Geri Horner left the group in 2000.

Glastonbury returns to Worthy Farm in Somerset on June 26 2019 after taking a break.

Thank U, Next has been on everyone's lips and we ADORE the self-empowering message Ari is belting out.

And then Ariana dropped that iconic video and it's all anyone has been talking about.

But we may have just found a parody of the music video that might rival the masterpiece.

Everyone welcome to the stage: James Corden's Thank u, Jeff.

In a segment for The Late Late Show with James Corden, the host takes on the smash hit.

Trolling the pop song, James is rocking some silk pjs, with a burn book of his own dedicated to Jeff Goldblum.

The lyrics are genius and Jeff takes over the role that Kris Jenner stole in Ariana's version.

James also includes the bend and snap, a sexy piano sequence and a pillow fight.

I'm not sure if we will ever get the image of James humping his bedroom carpet out of our head – but the video is pure brilliance.

Even Ariana loved the parody and asked for the Thank U, Jeff book.

Replying to the video on Twitter, the singer wrote: "Omg…may I please…Please for Christmas have the Thank U, Jeff book? It's for a friend, promise."

I've re-watched the video more times than I care to admit – just amazing.

Jael Strauss, who was a contestant in season eight of America's Next Top Model, sadly passed away on December 4th of this year.

The 34-year-old model lost her battle to breast cancer, only two months after she was initially diagnosed.

'The one blessing was that we were able to show her how loved she was before she passed,' her family said in a statement to TMZ.

Tyra Banks, who iconically hosted the ANTM show, was criticised on Twitter for not posting or releasing a statement about Jael's death.

However, the talk show host has since posted on Twitter to reflect her sadness on Jael's passing:

'Top Model has lost a beautiful soul,' she wrote.

'We will all remember Jael and her fun-loving spirit and beautiful soul.'

Jael was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in October of this year. Taking to Facebook, the model wrote:

'I was gonna write some long thing but some of you guys deserve to know, On October 2nd I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. It has aggressively spread throughout my body and is incurable.'

'With treatment it may prolong my life longer than the ‘few months’ doctors said I could make it. I don’t want to die. I need another one of those miracles that I got back in 2013.'

In 2013, Jael received treatment for substance abuse and addiction, after appearing on the Dr Phil show. In August of this year, Jael celebrated five years on sobriety – an amazing achievement.

Our thoughts are with Jael's family at this time.

A 20-year-old model who claims to be Offsets' mistress has taken to Instagram to address the cheating rumours.

It comes after Cardi B announced she had split from her husband Offset, after cheating allegations began to spread.

The model, who goes by the name of Summer has apologised to Cardi for "not respecting [her] marriage."

A post shared by Summer  (@thesummerbunni) on

In an Instagram post, she wrote: "Good Morning, a quick letter to the fans, followers and social media outlets. During this last 48 hours, I haven't enjoyed the social media frenzy. Not only is it draining but humbling. I will always be woman enough to admit when I'm wrong, and in this situation I was. Seeing another woman's pain does not bring me any joy, nor do I think it's funny," she said.

"I've always been for women supporting each other but in this situation, not only myself but others have failed. I separated myself from certain situations and people for a reason. This is not a letter for sympathy but acknowledgement to everyone whom has questions. Going into 2019 focused and dedicated to becoming a better me. Thank y'all – Summer."

However, the confession didn't stop there, taking to her Instagram stories, Summer posted a number of snaps detailing her feelings about the situation.

A post shared by Summer (@thesummerbunni) on

One, in particular, was addressed to Cardi B, as Summer wrote: "And again to Cardi B, I'm extremely sorry this has happened. I hope you can keep being real and happy. I'm ashamed and embarrassed. But I'm truly sorry for forgetting my worth and not respecting your marriage."

Our advice to Summer is to stop publicly addressing it, as Cardi B is probably coming for you and she is one baby momma we wouldn't want to mess with.

That being said, Offset has remained very quiet on social media about the scandal, and after all, if Summer is telling the truth – he was the one in a committed marriage, not her.

For now, it looks as if Cardi B is solely focused on her four-month-old daughter Kulture.

The artist uploaded a picture of her baby girl to social media and simply commented "My heart".

We imagine this is a very difficult time for Cardi B.
