A controversial billboard erected by a Donegal nightclub has been branded as "disgusting" and "misogynistic" by furious locals.

The large advertisement for Liberty's club in Buncrana features am image of a woman wearing shorts and holding a gold club, along with the caption: "“Libertys – Your 19th hole for the summer.”

The offensive ad had been the subject of numerous complaints, with many calling for it to be removed.

Speaking to the Donegal Daily, Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said the billboard was  “just plain offensive."

"If it was shock value publicity they were seeking, then mission accomplished," he said.

"They need to cop themselves on, show some respect for our community and take it down!”

Many of the club's regular punters have also taken to the venue's social media calling for them to remove the offensive ad.

One commenter wrote: "This not funny. It's blatant rape culture. Please take it down and replace it with an image that shows a young woman who is confident, in control and sexy, as opposed to a faceless receptacle for some drunk guy's hard on."

While another accused the establishment of promoting "rape culture and misogynistic sexism."

"You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is being shared on social media and is doing you no favours. Promoting rape culture and misogynistic sexism in one poster."

The club has not yet responded to calls to remove the image.

Listen like them or not, many of us have a weird fascination with the Royal family.

I personally think they're great – but hey, that's just one person's opinion.

Anyway, they certainly are an interesting bunch of humans, in particular, the matriarch, Queen Lizzie.

Obviously, she's a Queen – so that's class, but there are so many other things that come with that territory.

Naturally, she's a very important figure, and with that, she has some pretty impressive perks.

I decided to look into it, and get the low down on the things the Queen can and can't do:

1. No passport? No problem.

So you may or may not know this, but all passports in the UK are issued by The Queen. So in that case, it makes sense that she would not require one.

2. Personal ATM.

No nipping up the road to get cash out here lads, The Queen has access to her own personal ATM within Buckingham Palace. Although, I can't imagine she needs to carry much cash on her.

3. She doesn't have to pay taxes.

That's right folks, despite being a chamillionaire, the Queen is not actually required to pay any taxes. However,  she has voluntarily been paying income and capital gains taxes since 1992. Sound.

4. She owns all of the dolphins.

This one really got me. I knew about the swans, and how the reigning monarch of the UK technically owns all swans in the Kingdom. However, apparently she also owns all the dolphins (and whales, sturgeons, and porpoises) in the waters of England. These are referred to as 'fishes royal'.

5. One cannot get arrested.

That's right folks – Queen Elizabeth is literally above the law (no that she'd ever break it though). However, if she did decide to break a few laws, Prosecutors could go after the Crown as Executive, but then the Queen's ministers would act on her behalf, and accept any punishment that was doled out.

6. Drives freely.

Oh no big deal, but The Queen doesn't need a driver's licence to operate a car in the UK. It's an example of her exercising her "royal prerogative," which is a special exemption from some statute laws. Casual.

7. Fast and furious.

Along with no need for a licence, Elizabeth also doesn't have to adhere to the speed limit.

8. Two birthdays.

You read that right lads, The Queen of England gets TWO birthdays, because well, one seems a bit common. Birthday numero uno is her actual birthday, on April 21. Her second birthday (her "official" royal birthday) is celebrated on the second Saturday in June, marked by the Trooping the Colour parade.

The end is in sight for the Peaky Blinders as series creator Steven Knight has confirmed the crime drama will finsh after its seventh season.

However, it's not all bad news. Speaking after the BAFTAs on Sunday evening, Steven told Digital Spy how he is considering the possibiltiy of making a follow-movie movie.

The show's boss told the publication: "My ambition is to make it a story of a family between two wars, so always I've wanted to end it with the first air raid siren in Birmingham in 1939.

"It'll take three more series [to reach that point]."

It's thought that the film would be released after the final season has aired, though Steven is not opposed to the idea of having it come out between two of the remaining series.

"We're getting approached to do all kinds of things – the ballet, the musical… and the movie would be great.

"I wouldn't want to do it at the very end, but maybe in between two of the series."

Peaky Blinders took home the award for Best Drama at the BAFTA ceremony in London last night, beating out Netflix's The Crown and Line of Duty

Accepting the award,  Steven gave a nod to the show's stars Cillian Murphy and Helen McCrory, saying: "I wish the people who created such iconic TV, soon maybe they will be here as well because they deserve to be."

The fifth season will air on BBC Two in 2019 and is set to be released on Netflix.

Prince Philip has been seen for the first time since he undergoing planned hip surgery on April 4.

According to Town & Country, the 96-year-old was photographed in a car at the 75th annual Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show, which is also famed as the UK's largest outdoor horse show, took place on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Duke of Edinburgh was seen chatting to the Queen at the event on Friday while she was just outside the vehicle. She wore her signature floral headscarf as she spoke to her husband of over 70 years at the royal residence.

Oh, and another exciting event is set to take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle next week – the royal wedding!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tie the knot at St George's Chapel, and Philip's appearance yesterday has sparked hopes that he is in good enough health to attend the ceremony.

Regarding whether Philip will be able to attend, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace told the Mirror earlier this month, 'We very much hope so', but said they wouldn't know for sure until 'closer to the time'.

Health wise, the father-of-four has reportedly been 'in good spirits', according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

The statement, which was issued while he was still in hospital, also said that the Prince is 'progressing satisfactorily at this early stage', the Guardian reported. He was discharged after 11 days in hospital.

We hope that this public appearance means Prince Philip is well enough to attend his grandson's wedding. And if he can't, well, he's in good company – Prince Louis won't be witnessing his uncle's nuptials.

A Spice Girl's feature film has been rumoured to be hitting cinemas next year, in addition to an animated superhero project the women will reportedly voice.

Excitement and rumours have been circulating around the exact details of the Spice Girls reunion we have been promised.

It seems that even the women themselves do not know precisely what is happening.

Mel B has hinted at a full-on tour, whilst her other band members have carefully avoided committing to anything, denying claims around new music had been on the way or that they would perform at the Royal Wedding next weekend.

One project that seems to have been given the nod is that all five band members have signed the dotted line for a 'superhero-themed' animated movie carrying their iconic 'girl power' message.

A post shared by Spice Girls (@spicegirls_official) on

The news comes as Variety reports the girls are keen to voice their own characters in the superhero movie.

"They're fired up about the idea," a source claims.

"The Spice Girls are thinking big in terms of a franchise on a global scale. They’re the most successful girl group on the planet. It’s just what Marvel or Disney needs."

However, that isn’t all we are in for, reportedly, there will another Spice Girl feature film to look forward to, hitting cinemas and perhaps even the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

According to The Sun's Dan Wootton, a 'second big movie project' has been lined up and 'pitched to potential production partners'.

It's reportedly going to be a 'tell-all' feature film, which cinema audiences will get to experience.

We for one, cannot wait!

So, you've managed to make it through four years of college, passed your exams with flying colours and even landed your dream job.

Full of enthusiasm, you dive head-first into your new role, before quickly convincing yourself that you're waaaay out of your depth.

At this stage, your inner monologue will probably a sound a little something like this:

“WTF am I even doing here? – I'm a total fraud and everyone knows it.”

Sound familiar? – You might be suffering from imposter syndrome.

First coined the 1978, imposter syndrome is a term used to describe the feeling of not being worthy of ones achievements – and it's actually more common than you might think.

According to The Guardian, some 70 per cent of successful people across all industries have experienced the phenomenon.

Albert Einstein, David Bowie, Serena Williams and Meryl Streep are just some of the well-known faces to admit to having felt inferior at some point in their careers – proving that the syndrome can indeed be overcome.

Here's some some tips to help you cope:

1. Stop being so hard on yourself

People often feel like imposters in their own lives because they are constantly striving to be better. It's hard to feel like your talents are worthy of praise when you don't believe it yourself.

More often than not, we act as our own worst critics, and it's this self-deprecating attitude that causes us to believe we're not good enough.

Instead, try to accept your skills and talents for what they are and work from there. And remember, your boss wouldn't have hired you if they didn't think you were capable.

2. Confide in colleagues

There's a pretty high chance you're not the only one in your job that feels this way.

Share your concern with close friends and co-workers, and you'll soon realise that you are by no means alone.

Knowing that there are others around you in the same position makes the fear so much easier to deal with – there's strength in numbers, after all.

3. Don't compare yourself to others

We'll admit, this one is easier said than done.

It's difficult to watch college friends and colleagues climb the career ladder while you're still stuck in an entry-level job, but don't get too bogged down with other people's achievements.

Sure, they probably worked hard to get where they are, but who's to say a little bit of luck didn't have anything to do with it?

Your time will come.

4. Learn to accept praise

People who suffer from imposter syndrome often feel as though external praise lacks authenticity.

Well-deserved approval can sometimes be mistaken for a patronising pat on the back, and it's this kind of thinking that leaves us feeling like total phonies.

Make a note of every "well done" and "great job" you receive, and read back over them when you're feeling inadequate.

5. Keep pursuing your goals

For lack of a better term, f**k the haters and keep doing what you're doing.

It takes a lot of courage to set aside the self-doubt and continue towards your goals, but pushing through regardless of how you're feeling is by far the best way to overcome your fears.

You'd be surprised at what you can achieve when you put your mind to it.

A number of female film stars came together to stage a protest against gender discrimination in the industry at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend.

Cate Blanchett, Kristen Stewart and Selma Hayek were among those who took part in the demonstration on Saturday, which saw a group of actresses and film-makers link arms as they walked the red carpet.

Speaking to reporters, Cate Blanchette made a powerful speech about the importance of the cause.

"Women are not a minority in the world, yet the current state of the industry says otherwise," she declared.

"We are 82 women, representing the number of female directors who have climbed these stairs since the first edition of the Cannes Film Festival in 1946. In the same period, 1,688 male directors have climbed these very same stairs.

She went on the shed light on the fact that just two women have been awarded the highest prize at the prestigious film festival while 71 men have received the honour.

"The prestigious Palme d'Or has been bestowed upon 71 male directors, too numerous to mention by name, but only two female directors."

All of the festivals female jury members took part in the protest which was described as a "massive milestone towards change."

Whether we're having a sh*t time at work, going through a painful break-up, or just freaking out for no particular reason, we can always count on our mothers to bring us back down to earth.

While motherhood brings its fair share of challenges, it seems to also bring an unintentional sense of awkward humour, which, when combined with modern technology, makes for some most hilarious text messages the world has ever seen.

And it seems not even celebrities are immune from the phenomenon that is 'Mom texts', as proved in Jimmy Kimmel's latest viral video.

The clip featured some of Hollywood's biggest stars as the read aloud some of the most well-crafted messages they've received from their mothers.

Anna Faris read a text that said, "My dear Ani, I hope this doesn't wake you. I just want you to know how proud your father and I are of you. As you know know (sic) we truly believe you are the greatest actress of your generation. We do someday hope you transition into dramatic work."

While actor Jack McBrayer shared a sarcastic masterpiece his mam sent him to thank him for a Christmas ornament.

"Thank you Jack. Hope you live long enough to see it in person."

Other stars featured in the video include Adam Scott, Kristen Bell, Tony Hale, Patton Oswalt, Will Forte.
