Jacqueline Wilson recently revealed that Tracy Beaker will return in her new book, however, fans are not happy with the storyline.

The popular children’s author shared that Tracy Beaker is now a single mum, who is living in a rough housing estate, struggling to make ends meet.

Fans of the famous character were delighted to hear that a new book was on the way, however, many readers expressed their anger over how Tracy’s storyline turned out.

Taking to Twitter, fans discussed the new book, “Would it not be a more positive story to make Tracy Beaker a success following her time in care?” one wrote.

Another questioned the influence the novel will have on young readers, “Jacqueline Wilson writing a new Tracy Beaker book about Tracey now being a single mum in and out of work struggling to make ends meet living on a rough London housing estate. Nice inspiring message for 8-year-olds that if you start your life poor you’ll end it poor.”

“I feel sad for Tracy Beaker that she ended up struggling and single – would have been triumphant for her to have broken the cycle of her own upbringing,” said another.

However, amongst the negative response were plenty of joyous fans who loved the original book The Story of Tracy Beaker, which was released 27 years ago.

One mum wrote, “This is such exciting news! Just in time for my 31st birthday too…looking forward to catching up with one of my favourite childhood heroines and her daughter (that bit seems so surreal!)”

Another mum shared, “I cannot wait to tell my 12-year-old daughter! She will be so excited! I think I’ll be borrowing this one from her too! Only fair seeing as I passed on some of my books to her.”

Speaking about the return of one of her most famous characters, author Jacqueline Wilson admitted to The Guardian, “Tracy has been a character that’s haunted me. She’s the sort of person who sticks in your mind.”

She also reassured fans, “ I’ve always thought that, even though Tracy had lots of problems in her life and a pretty rubbish mum who was never there for her, Tracy herself would be a good mum, no matter what.”

My Mum Tracy Beaker will be released in October 2018. The book will be narrated by Tracy’s daughter, Jess.

The book may be aimed at seven to 11-year-olds but we know there will be many grown-ups sneakily reading My Mum Tracy Beaker too.

To be perfectly honest, I spend a humiliating amount of dreaming about my future home.

I scroll and scroll through Pinterest, thinking about all the wonderful ways I will furnish my house.

The house that I'll probably never be able to afford FYI, as a result of those pesky prices.

Anyway, a gal can dream, and so I do!

One thing I always imagine having in my humble abode? A majestic book case, filled with wonderful stories, old and new.

I think I was initially inspired by Beauty and the Beast, but we'll start with a shelf, and maybe after a while I can get my library.

So without further adieu, here are some of my favourite book cases on the Internet:

Despite many companies taking strides towards gender equality, the fact of the matter is that women are still experiencing huge push-backs in the work place.

From unjustified pay discrepancies to disrespectful colleagues, female workers often need to go above and beyond in order to receive the same recognition as their male peers.

Last week, Martin Schneider, a writer and editor at an entertainment publication, took to Twitter to share the challenges he faced after a technical glitch meant that his emails were accidentally signed off with the name of his female co-worker, Nicole Hallberg.

Giving his followers a little background, he explained how his boss was always complaining about how long Nicole took to work with clients.

As her supervisor, it was Martin's responsibility to encourage his colleague to work at a faster pace – though he admits he didn't see it as a huge issue, and was only doing it to keep his boss happy.

Now, here's where the story gets really interesting.

After a string of rude and uncooperative replies from a certain client, Martin realised the problem – all his correspondence had been signed off using the the name “Nicole”.

No prizes for guessing what happened next.

After informing the client that he had taken over the project, Martin saw a huge improvement in communication.

Curious as to whether this was a regular occurrence, Martin asked Nicole if she experienced this kind of behaviour a lot.

The pair then decide to conduct a two-week experiment, during which time they would sign their emails using each others names.

Martin decided to bring this blatant example of gender bias to the attention of his boss – but as expected, he was having none of it.

The thread garnered huge attention online, with many Twitter users sharing the story in an attempt to highlight the kins of sexism that women are forced to deal with on a daily basis.

With the sad news this week that classic shopping centre store Claire's Accessories may be in serious financial difficulty, we decided to reflect on happier times.

Times when wearing fake Ugg boots with over-sized white plastic sunglasses and magnetic earrings was acceptable behaviour.

Irish gals loved a bit of Claire's Accessories, we we've compiled a list of the best, most nostalgic items to come out of the 00s mega-store.

 8. Long plastic beads

An outfit in the mid-00s was incomplete without a string of plastic beads clacking around your neck.

Extra style points if you tied the end of the beads into a knot. Look out, Anna Wintour.

7. Leggings with lace at the bottom

We don't know about you, but we weren't allowed to leave the house without a pair of leggings under our skirts – and luckily, the capri legging with a lace hem was all the rage to rock under a denim skirt and oversized belt.

You could get these in 2-packs at Claire's, and that's exactly what we spent our hard-earned pocket money on.

The height of sophistication on 2007.

6. Clip-on hair bows

Where my former scene and emo kids at? While the hair bow trend of the 00s may have begun with the scene kids, it made it's way through every stereotypical secondary clique imaginable, and Claire's was the place to get your three-pack of printed hair bows.

Used almost exclusively for side swooping that serious side fringe you had going on, hair bows were the Junior Cert epitome of both cute, girl next door glamour and edgy, P!ATD themed angst.

5. Sequin stretchy belts

These sequin belts went perfectly with our tiered mini skirts and UGG boots.

You could get one in every colour, green for Paddy's Day, sparkly pink for the midterm disco, and your choice of gold or red for Christmas mass. Gorge.

4. Oversized bracelets

There seems to be a reoccurring theme here regarding the texture of everything we used to buy in Claire's.

If it was bright, plastic and would clatter up and down our wrists as we walked, we we're having them.

Made popular by the likes of Lindsay Lohan, we all had more than a few huge bangles we stacked up for the disco.

3. Friendship necklaces

Were you EVEN besties if you didn't go around school with half a love heart necklace reading either 'Be Frie' or 'St Nds,' depending on how the heart was split?

Claire's had them in every shape, size and shade imaginable, and there was something so satisfying about cementing a day spent browsing the shops with your bestie and your pocket money with a new friendship necklace.

2. 'Fancy' jewellery

There was always one totem of bling in Claire's accessories that we looked upon with awe. Nothing on that rotating rack was made of bright pink plastic, oh no. This was rack where you got those twisty diamante clips for wedding-guest up-dos, or a sparkly birth stone necklace for your cousin's confirmation.

It was out of bounds except for on the more sacred of occasions, and you found yourself coveting the sparkly drop earrings with reverence, before choosing to buy another pack of neon shoelaces instead.

1. Kanye West sunglasses

They were never a good idea. Point blank. Period.

From breaking our necks to not being able to see out ogf them, to looking like pure and simple eejits, these were best left to the main man himself.

GIFs have become a method of communication in themselves – so when Instagram rolled out a GIF feature to accessorise our Insta Stories, we were pretty delighted.

For weeks we punctuated our night out snaps and selfies with animated emblems, but in recent days, Instagram users have complained that the GIF action no longer works on their phones.

Tech giants Instagram and Snapchat have both yanked their GIF action off the platforms after users pointed out that some of the GIFs being hosted on the social media sites were racist and degrading.

The platforms were using integrated GIFs from GIF website Giphy.

The racist GIF which caused offence portrayed a 'n***** death counter' alongside disturbing imagery of a game show host encouraging the number to increase.

The vile GIF caused the action to be removed from the sites until a review can be undertaken.

In a statement to Tech Crunch, Giphy said:

'A user discovered an offensive GIF sticker in our library, and we immediately removed it per our content guidelines.'

'After investigation of the incident, this sticker was available due to a bug in our content moderation filters specifically affecting GIF stickers. We have fixed the bug and have re-moderated all of the GIF stickers in our library.'

'The GIPHY staff is also further reviewing every GIF sticker by hand and should be finished shortly.'

'We take full responsibility for these recent events and sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended.'

There's no word yet on when exactly the GIF feature will be back up and running – here's to hoping it's soon but without the offensive content pl,ease and thanks.

I actually find it difficult to explain how much I miss Game of Thrones.

So when I see anything remotely associated with the best show ever made, I can't help but get weirdly excited.

And that weird excitement was exactly my reaction to Morrison's new fancy Easter eggs.

The eggs look just like the petrified dragon eggs, you know the ones that Daenerys was given by Magister Illyrio Mopatis as a wedding gift?

Yeah, I remember it all!

No, they won't ultimately give birth to three tiny dragons, but they are made of delicious chocolate – and that's basically as exciting.

We'd still prefer the dragons, but here we are.

ovo GIF

The eggs – which are part of Morrisons' 'The Best' range – are available in stores across the UK, and are also available to buy online, so we can all access the wonder of the Dragon egg.

As exciting as these eggs are, we still get a bit sad at the thought of not seeing the main lads on screen until 2019 – honestly feels like an eternity!

Until then, we'll be gorging on eggs and waiting.

We hate to admit that going to the gym isn’t part of our dream evening routine. We’d love to be one of those people that skips down to the gym wearing our spotless runners and finest gym gear, but we’re not.

We sulk like toddlers when we realise it’s time for our 6 pm spinning class, but we know exercising is good for us so we persevere, even though we’d much rather spend the evening curled up on the sofa.

There are dozens of benefits to exercising regularly, but despite the fact that it’s good for our mental health and bone development, we struggle to make it through our workouts.

adult, blur, casual

Luckily, a new study has found a little trick that is set to make your workouts a hell of a lot easier, and it will even make them last longer.

In a study conducted by the American College of Cardiology, researchers found that music helps motivate you when exercising.

Lead researcher, Dr Waseem Shami revealed, “Music has shown to increase exercise capacity in a smaller group of patients, which gives some evidence that music can be a key resource in a stress-testing lab and during regular exercise."

The researchers analysed 127 patients whilst they ran on a treadmill. Half of the participants, aged between 20 and 70, listened to Latin music, whilst the other half didn’t listen to any music.

They found that the group who listened to music worked out for longer than the group who did not.

Experts believe that you should exercise for at least 30 minutes every day, which is achievable if you motivate yourself.

Stick on a cheesy pop playlist or maybe some 90s rock ballads and you’ll be ready to workout.

Have you ever wondered what allowed Manchester United their years of sporting success?

Probably not, however, we recently discovered their secret – and we're very surprised.

The Manchester United manager employed 'nutritional guru' Trevor Lea, who insisted on introducing Jaffa Cakes to the player's diets.

Yes, JAFFA CAKES!

Hoenstly, if eating biscuits (or is it a cake?) can make me a superstar sports player – I am down.

Former player Brian McClair tweeted about the Jaffa experience, stating:

"In '92, SAF brought in Trevor Lea a nutritional guru, his first act was to confiscate the custard creams, bourbons & choc digestives."

"He had a Jiffy bag from which he pulled the performance enhancing superfood that was key to Utd's success over the next 16 years!!!"

The former player then went on to explain that the players were told to eat FIVE jaffa cakes on training days and three on matchdays.

A diet we can certainly get on board with!

The team ended up winning 13 titles under Ferguson – meaning that the Jaffa Cakes may actually have been their secret weapon

"Not eaten one since 1998," McClair added on Twitter. "I've had my life's quota, still enjoy the odd custard cream with a glass of ribena, full fat of an evening."

Hup the LADS.

Let's be honest – nothing brings a nation together quite like a well performing sports team.

And thankfully, on this wonderful little Island, we have an exceptional rugby team.

The lads have been killing it on the pitch, and thanks to this weekend's win, we have overtaken England in the world rankings.

How glorious?

Image result for irish rugby

Naturally, those (virtually) unbeatable buggers down in New Zealand are still at number one (for now), but this is brilliant news for Irish rugby.

The current rankings are as follows:

1 New Zealand

2 Ireland

3 England

4 Australia

5 South Africa

6 Scotland

7 Wales

8 France

9 Argentina

10 Fiji

14 Italy

Now, let's head to Twickenham this weekend, and show them how it's done!
