If you haven’t heard about No7’s latest anti-ageing product, Protect and Perfect Advanced serum, you must have been  hiding under a rock!

The latest addition to their Protect and Perfect range has been met with raving reviews, so SHEmazing! caught up with Irish woman Orla Wardlaw to talk about whether or not it actually worked.

Orla was one of eight women who took part in the Four Weeks, No Mirrors challenge to showcase just how much the serum changes your appearance.

The women were given the appropriate serum for their skin and at the same time all mirrors were removed from their lives so they couldn’t see their face.

Like most of us when it comes to a new product, Orla was a little sceptical about how good the serum could actually be.

However, after just three weeks, Orla says she could feel changes in her skin, especially in her frown line. And while she couldn’t see these changes until the four weeks was up, they were pronounced enough to be able to feel.

Orla’s typical skin care regime consisted of just washing her face and moisturising, but now she raves about the silky, soft texture of her skin thanks to the No7 serum.

Applying four pea sized amount every morning and evening, Orla was absolutely thrilled with the results.

While she admits the biggest thing to come out of the challenge is the glow that the serum gives to her skin, she was especially thrilled when she was confident enough with her skin to go into work make-up free.

Sounds like we need to get ourselves some of this!

Whether you’re in Mary I, St. Pats, Marino, or any other form of “teacher training” college, you know that we as the future educators of our nation’s youth have a variety of problems that others just don’t understand. From placement to assignments, we’re subjected to a variety of problems that you just won’t find anywhere else. So here is just a sample of the many student teacher problems faced every year:

1. The subjects

Confused-Little-Girl-Is-At-Loss-For-Words

Upon entering college as freshers, students are expecting to be challenged in terms of learning and amounts of alcohol consumed and while it’s safe to say the latter is most definitely true, the subjects studied can sometimes leave a lot to be desired for.

2. The stale jokes

laughing

“Teaching? I suppose you’re only in it for the holidays!” Every. Time.

3. Spotting pupils in public

Don’t make eye contact, don’t make eye contact…Damn. Queue awkward wave.

4. Studying for exams

Nothing is quite like a group of student teachers studying for upcoming exams. Tensions run high, people break down and you begin to convince yourself that primary school Irish has definitely gotten harder.

5. Explaining the course to your friends

confused-princess-jasmine

There is nothing quite like the look on your friends faces when you explain you can’t go out because you have to make a powerpoint based on two websites for kids. There is little joy in having to explain your course to your friends simply because they will refuse to believe that what you do is tough, which makes the fact you barely passed a module even worse.

6. Placement

This is what every student teacher looks forward to. THIS is why you wanted to do teaching right? To stand up at the top of the class and see students learning material for the first time. You taught them this, they’d be nothing without your charts and materials and worksheets.

What nobody tells you is that those charts, materials and worksheets take time. Spending 4+ hours preparing materials for the following day became a reoccurring ritual and the sound of a printer churning out worksheet after worksheets can make even the sanest person begin shouting nonsensical abuse at the machine.

Lord help you if you run out of ink or laminator sheets after the shops close.

Oh no, poor Iggy Azalea!

The rapper was performing on Dancing With The Stars when she had an earpiece mishap.

Iggy was forced to pause the performance of her hit singe, Fancy, and declare: “I’m so sorry but there’s something wrong with my ears.”

As she knows all too well, the show must go on, and Iggy recovered her on-stage performance like a boss.

The star later tweeted a further apology, saying: “I am so sorry guys! My in ears messed up and I couldn’t hear the track. The dramas of live TV. S*** happens. Still really enjoyed it.”

She definitely pulled it off, unlike a lot of other singers we know. Yes, we’re looking at you Ashlee Simpson…

Most single gals dread the moment they’re asked about their relationship status.

And some cheeky so-and-so’s go as far as to ask WHY you’re single – to which you list work commitment, toxic exes, ‘standards’ and just generally revelling in your single fabulousness!

Well, now a new Facebook button lets your friends ask you if and WHY you’re single, and vice versa!

The ‘ask’ button appears on the profiles of users who have left their relationship status blank.

Once you’re sent an ‘ask’ request, you’ll receive a notification that says: ‘Hello! I am wondering about your relationship!’

You can either ignore it or respond, with the option of sending it back to you directly or sharing it with the general public.

While the social media site has had an option to ‘ask’ for a friend’s phone number, address and email for a while now, the relationship status ‘ask’ button is a new development – and not everyone is happy about it.

One person wrote on Twitter, “If Facebook wasn’t already the biggest invasion of privacy, you can now “ask” people about their relationship status.”

Others called it ‘naggy’ with one person writing, “How awkward is that Facebook devoted a single button to ask your friends why they’re single?”

Hmmmm…we’re not sure how we feel about this ourselves!

It has been announced that Rory McIlroy has called off his wedding to Caroline Wozniacki.

The golfer released a statement reading: “There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people. The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had. I will not be saying anything more about our relationship in any setting.”

Rory and Caroline began dating in 2011 and got engaged last New Year’s Day in Sydney.

We wish them all the best, it’s never easy to end a relationship.

Before meeting and falling in love with Cory Monteith, who sadly passes away last year, Lea Michele used to date Matthew Morrison!

Lea revealed the saucy secret in her new book, Brunette Ambition, writing: “I had worked on Broadway with Jenna Ushkowitz and Matthew Morrison before. Matt had been a friend of mine for years, and in fact we’d actually dated back in the day for a Broadway beat.”

The two have filmed Glee together for the past five years with Matthew playing teacher Will Schuester and Lea playing his student Rachel Berry.

Lea had previously denied ever dating or being involved with Matthew until now, even saying in 2010: “I’ve known Matt for years. People are going to make things up. I think it’s just because we really are so close.”

Hmm, this makes us wonder about Lea denying the entire Naya Rivera incident…

Ever wonder what a 20-year-old Kate Moss looked like? Well, thanks to the release of Nick Knight’s fashion film, we manage to get a glimpse of the fresh faced model.

The film shows Kate starting out as a model in 1995 and explores the ideas of privacy and anonymity in the fashion world.

The film is entitled The More Visible They Make Me, The More Invisible I Become and is a little bit creepy, as it is shot from the perspective of a stalker.

Even though the film might be a weird, we do get to see Kate open about the realities of fame.

“You can be in a place and be leaving and everyone’s staring at you, it’s a kinda uneasy. I’d much rather they come up and say something than just sit there and stare. I suppose the money’s not bad and getting to go anywhere at the drop of a hat.”

Katy Perry and boyfriend Diplo have called it quits – because Katy didn’t want to settle down.

The 35-year-old American DJ – real name Thomas Pentz – apparently called time on their romance when it became clear that they ‘wanted different things’.

Katy is said to have freaked out when her boyfriend told her he wanted to introduce her to his parents.

The 28-year-old Roar singer thought this was way too much, way too soon!

The couple were first linked during the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in early April, before being spotted getting cosy at the Amazing Spider-Man 2 after party in New York.

Katy is still feeling raw following her February split from on-off boyfriend John Mayer, and just wasn’t ready to take it the next stage with Diplo.

Maybe being single for a while is the best thing for this pop star!

The sun may have gone, but fear not, you can imagine that you’re in sunny Spain with this delicious paella recipe.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 leek or onion, sliced
  • 1 tomato
  • 110g pack chorizo sausage, chopped
  • 1-2 chicken fillets
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 300g long grain rice
  • 1l hot fish or chicken stock
  • 200g frozen peas
  • 400g frozen seafood mix, defrosted

What you’ll need to do:

  1. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan, then soften the leek for five minutes without browning.
  2. Add the chopped chicken fillet pieces, ensure that they are cooked thoroughly without browning on the outside.
  3. Add the chorizo and fry until it releases its oils. Stir in the turmeric and rice until coated by the oils, then pour in the stock.
  4. Bring the ingredients to the boil, then simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Tip in the chopped tomato, peas and cook for five minutes, then stir in the seafood to heat through for a final one-two minutes cooking or until rice is cooked.
  6. Check for seasoning and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Tip: The best thing about paella is that any ingredients can really work with this dish. So, if you’re not a fan of chicken, you can swap it for your favourite meat, fish or veg instead.

We all live in the delusion that things might be going well at home, but little do we know that we could be in fact the irritating housemate that everyone is complaining about. Here are few signs that maybe you should take your other housemates’ feelings into consideration:

You’re messy
Ever wonder where those dirty dishes disappear to? It’s not by magic, the sad reality is that your housemates are probably cleaning up after you and aren’t happy about it either.

Drink straight from the carton
It wasn’t even your milk in the first place!

You move your boyfriend in without asking
Oh, we all had a housemate like that. Yes, you are entitled to a love life, but perhaps it’s a good idea to give some consideration to the people you actually live with, instead of just focusing on your own needs.

Short on rent
You somehow have no problem showing off that new pair of shoes that you just bought, but might be a little late on this month’s rent.

Won’t buy utilities
Toilet roll does not appear by magic and neither does fairy liquid or any other necessary house utilities. You need to buy your share as well.

Never take out the bins
Yes, it’s disgusting but the bin is probably full of all your rubbish in the first place. So, unfortunately you do need take out the rubbish every once in a while.

If you fit into any of these categories, it’s probably time to do your share of housework and grovel for your housemates’ forgiveness.
