Beyoncé's father and former manager of Destiny's Child, Mathew Knowles, is claiming that he did everything possible to protect the girlband from R Kelly.

After hearing "some of those things" about the notorious sexual predator, he deliberately kept Destiny's Child away from him for their safety.

He also admits that hearing about Kelly's horrendous reputation for sexual, mental and physical abuse played a role in stopping the R&B band from collaborating with him.

A criminal investigation into dozens of allegations against R Kelly is now underway in Chicago and Atlanta following the Lifetime documentary Surviving R Kelly.

The Ignition singer, real name Robert Kelly, is accused of holding numerous women in a dangerous 'sex cult' in his homes, as well as having abusive, sexual relationships with underage girls as young as 12. He strongly denies this.

Rumours of his behaviour have been rampant since the early 1990s, after he forged singer Aaliyah's documents to allow her to marry him aged just 15, while he was 27.

Knowles claims that he originally turned down offers for Destiny's Child to collaborate with Kelly at first because he "didn't think it was a good song", according to Metro.

The 67-year-old, who is the father of Beyoncé and Solange, commented that he never let the band members out of his sight;

"I was there, and my former wife Tina was there. The thing with R Kelly was, he liked to record late at night, around midnight. And what was different with his studio was that one room had a recording suite, and next door was a club, with 40 or 50 people dancing."

He continued; "R Kelly was managed by Sony, by someone I won’t name, and at that time, they would almost force you to record with their artists. R Kelly wasn’t cheap – it was $75,000, plus travel costs, so we’re talking $100,000 for a song."

He added that Kelly's negative reputation was in it's early stages, "I personally rejected the song, because I didn’t think it was a good song. Not just because of his reputation – this was around 1998, we had just begun to hear some of those things."

Mathew later said that the rumours surrounding Kelly's deplorable behaviour played a part in his choices for the girlband from then on, he said;

"Certainly, it was both of those things. The girls were 15, 16. When they went to the bathroom, Tina would go with them. They did not leave our eyes." They were allegedly under strict supervision, and were protected from him.

Another source for Metro claims that;

"Record labels would ask R Kelly to write songs for emerging artists as a way to help them break into the industry and he made several requests for Destiny’s Child," the source suggests.

"Mathew and Tina rejected all of them because they didn’t want him anywhere near the band which is why they are one of the few acts to debut in the 90s without an R Kelly song in its official discography," they added.

Only one Destiny's Child song is associated with R Kelly, Stimulate Me, which appeared on the soundtrack for Eddie Murphy's film Life in 1999.

Apparently Kelly did not work in the studio at the same time as the group, and the song never actually appeared as an official Destiny's Child release, so the gals are off the hook.

We're glad Mathew Knowles had the ability to keep the group protected from him, sadly other women weren't as fortunate.

R&B singer R Kelly is now facing a criminal investigation over allegations of sexual assault, rape, abuse and paedophilia after the airing of explosive documentary Surviving R Kelly.

The six-hour docu-series premiered on Lifetime and shocked its audience with its graphic and emotionally harrowing stories from dozens of accusers.

On-camera interviews with women who claim to have been held captive in incredibly abusive situations with Kelly provided upsetting testimonies, and now an investigation will officially take place.

TMZ reports that Georgia investigators received hundreds of calls once the episodes started airing in the US on January 3, and they are still aiming to speak with accusers.

The district attorney's office has yet to publicly comment on its investigation, but in Illinois, State Attorney Kim Foxx urged members of the public to come forward with relevant information.

Despite this, she stopped short of opening up her own criminal investigation, but said in a press conference that; "Listening to survivors and giving survivors a platform to tell their stories was heartbreaking,"

She also told reporters that she was "sickened" as both as a mother and as a prosecutor by the sexual abuse allegations made.

Kelly's manager has shockingly been accused of threatening the parents of Jocylen Savage, one of the alleged predator's abuse victims, in an attempt to dissuade them from appearing in the documentary.

Timothy Savage told an officer the day the series aired that Don Russell, the R&B singer's manager, texted him to say it would be best for his family if the documentary never aired.

Savage claimed himself and his wife were both involved with Lifetime's harrowing series.

Surviving R Kelly was created by feminist author and filmmaker dream hampton, and also includes celebrity appearances from John Legend and Chance the Rapper, who said collaborating with the Ignition singer was a "mistake."

Chance came under fire for admitting that he didn't listen to the women's testimony or value their stories "because they are black women".

A BBC Three documentary about the singer is also available to stream now. R Kelly has strenuously denied 30 years of abuse allegations made against him, including those made in the latest miniseries.

Warning: this article may be upsetting for anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, assault or harassment.

In case you've missed the drama surrounding R Kelly following the release of a six-hour length Lifetime documentary regarding his sexual predation, the explosive TV episodes have one again brought the dangerous rapper to light.

Horrifying allegations have been made against singer R Kelly for three decades, including an upsetting trial involving 21 counts of child pornography.

The six-part documentary made by Dream Hampton, Surviving R Kelly, retraced reports of the R&B artist's consistent manipulation and abuse of underage girls and sexual misconduct going back 30 years, for which he has never faced any consequences.

Lady Gaga is now being sufficiently ROASTED for declining to appear in the documentary, despite having collaborated with him back in 2013 on the (ironic) track Do What U Want.

Twitter users are calling her out on her debated hypocrisy, as she plays a large role in the #MeToo movement and declared that she has had her own abuser, though won't name him, yet works with known paedophiles.

Her silence in 2019 on the issue has allowed the public to instead retrace a damaging 2013 interview, where the Shallow singer DEFENDS him while in Japan;

"R Kelly and I have sometimes, very untrue things written about us, so in a way this was a bond between us." Whoa, whoa, whoa. This doesn't look good for Gaga, we have to admit.

She is choosing to remain silent for the moment, though more than a dozen victims who claim to have been raped, enslaved and abused while underage by Kelly have spoken out in the documentary.

Gaga was one of many celebrities who declined to participate in the Surviving R Kelly series, as well as Jay-Z (another collaborator), Dave Chapelle and Mary J Blige.

The move has angered many Gaga fans, given her public history of supporting sexual assault victims.

The rage online is palpable, as numerous fans have pointed out that this exact silence is how Kelly has been left to his own enabled devices for years.

In reality, he has had a support system around him who helped him with his predation.

Despite his child pornography trial taking place in 2002, hundreds of high profile celebrities have collaborated with him since, and are potentially only appearing regretful now because it is damaging to their brand.

A conversation has also arisen surrounding the notion of sexual assault victims and race, with many pointing out that if these women had been black, their stories may have ended differently.

Chance the Rapper has apologised for collaborating with the singer, but upset many people by admitting that he didn't care about the women because they were, in fact, black.

"Making a song with R. Kelly was a mistake. I didn't value the accusers' stories because they were black."

His honesty may be important in continuing this important talk, but the words have understandably hurt millions of women of the black community, who face oppression daily in America.

He later apologised for the quotes, saying they were taken out of context and explaining that the focus should be on the fact that those young black victims were never cared for.

Jada Pinkett Smith is among the celebrities who are asking the same imperative question; Do young black women matter?

Dream Hampton, executive producer of the show, told the Detroit Free Press that;

“It was incredibly difficult to get people who had collaborated with Kelly to come forward." Heartbreakingly, even friends such as Questlove declined to appear, despite believing the accusers' words.

John Legend was the only high-profile person who appeared in the film, writing on Twitter that it was an "easy decision":

#MeToo founder Tarana Burke also appeared in the documentary, as well as talk show host Wendy Williams and R. Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Kelly.

R&B legend Ne-Yo has posted his support for the series, saying that music cannot matter more than the lives of young black women.

Separating the man from the art must be examined as problematic; ignoring the actions of one can harm so many others.

R. Kelly has continuously denied the allegations and was acquitted in 2002 of child pornography charges, yet the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming.

The documentary is massively upsetting to watch, with woman after woman telling stories with paralleling patterns of his behaviour.

Families of young women are still claiming that their daughters are being held captive by R. Kelly as 'sex slaves.'

Chicago reporter Jim DeRogatis made a report in July of 2017 in which he asserts that Kelly keeps his victims captive in Chicago and Atlanta, and two victims (Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary) remain in his captivity.

"When u say teenage, how old are we talking" #RKelly #muterkelly #survivingrkelly pic.twitter.com/888SaTEBXx

Human rights organisation BlackWomensBlueprint tweeted,

"The sad truth is survivors still face push-back from naysayers who question their stories or dismiss the crisis of sexual assault- especially against black women and girls. It's a terrible burden to have to endure."

Jerhonda Pace, a survivor of R.Kelly, said, “I felt like a prisoner. I didn’t have anyone to talk to. It was just me. I went into a depression. I was mentally drained, because he would break me down, then build me up, then make me feel like sh*t again, then do it all over again."

"He would really manipulate my mind. The breaking point for me was when Rob slapped me, and he choked me until I blacked out," she concluded.

Let's not forget that when the singer was 27-years-old, he forged then 15-year-old R&B sensation Aaliyah's documents to claim she was 18 in order to marry her.

The Princess of Urban Pop later died in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001 after the unlicensed pilot had cocaine and alcohol in his system.

The documentary's film-maker Dream Hampton claims she hopes "Surviving R. Kelly" serves as a starter tool to "shift culture" and "talk about rape culture and organise against patriarchy, which harms us all."

Non-for-profit advocacy organisation Color of Change tweeted the "strength of black women & girls is determined by how much suffering we can endure. The women in #SurvivingRKelly are our heroes."

Let's hope the conversation will finally spark action and justice for these women.

The Queen B absolutely STUNNED in a white Thelma Gown and we are giddy with excitement.

Although the couple said I do all over again back in June, this is the first time we've been able to get a sneak peek into their big day.

Beyonce did upload a look back at 2018 that includes snippets of the special day, but get ready to hit the pause button as it ZOOMS past.

However, it was fashion designer Galia Lahav, that shared the image of the couple with the world.

The singer opted for a figure hugging dress, which was described as a "Victorian style gown with sheer silk sleeves and an elaborate vintage ornament, which forms an off-the-shoulder neckline."

The look was completed with a long veil and some matching sunnies – YES, gal.

Jay Z twinned in a white suit and runners.

We all crave new Beyoncé music every day, because without her collection of life-altering tunes, where would we be? God knows.

Mysterious music was leaked online the other day on iTunes, totally unauthorised.

The musical goddess has been known to randomly drop albums, ever since 2016's iconic Lemonade release, but this seemed a little too random…fans quickly realised it was old music though:

The old recordings were released under the name Queen Carter, and iTunes somehow allowed it to be uploaded until fans pointed out the strange mistake.

The albums Back Up, Rewind and Have Your Way appeared on Apple Music and Spotify, and was comprised of demos, unreleased tracks and demo songs by Queen Bey, which were removed a few hours later.

Songs such as After All Is Said and Done, a duet with Marc Nelson from 1999, Hollywood with Jay-Z from his 2006 album Kingdom Come, and another song from Austin Powers called Hey Goldmember.

A Missy Elliot collaboration from the rapper's second album was also on the tracklist, as well as Keep Giving Your Love to Me from Bad Boys II, and Control, a stand-alone song.

Beyoncé has dropped her last three albums as surprises, her 2013 self-titled project, Lemonade, and Everything is Love by The Carters.

We'll take ANYTHING she graciously offers, but unreleased songs without her authorisation is damn wrong, let the Queen have control over her own music.

Grammy-nominated R&B singer SZA was also victim to this same mysterious hacking, with old music being uploaded to iTunes under the name Sister Solana (her real name is Solana Rowe).

SZA addressed the album of old demo tracks being released on streaming services on her Instagram, calling the project "random scratches from 2015" and claimed that the songs are "def not new new!"

It's all very mysterious behaviour altogether.

Apple Music and Spotify have yet to comment on the matter, but we'd bet that Beyoncé ain't happy about this at all.

Who is the culprit making drama for no apparent reason, though? Spill the lemonade tea.

A photograph taken of our Lord and Saviour Queen Bey and arguably the world's current most popular singer-songwriter has sparked a MAJOR debate online about gender and an artists' 'brand'.

Why? Well, mainly because Ed was dressed like he was popping down to the local Spar to grab a one litre carton of milk, while Beyoncé was dressed, I mean, like BEYONCÉ. Fierce, fiesty and fabulous.

A few Twitter users have claimed that this displays an attitude towards gender norms, showing the expectations which women have on their shoulders to look stunning 24 hours a day, while men can wear whatever they damn well please.

The two global superstars performed together in Johannesburg, South Africa last weekend to celebrate the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100.

The duo paid homage to the late Nelson Mandela, who Beyoncé claims has hugely impacted on her parenting principles with her three children; Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir.

Of course, the pair simply had to perform the gift of their huge worldwide hit, Perfect, which the crowd essentially sang louder than them. Yet their choice of clothing has grabbed nearly the entirety of the focus.

Beyoncé has always worn the most EXTRA outfits in the business because it's part of her essence, her brand and her overall look.

She is a massive lover of fashion, even designing her own lines, while Sheeran has always been open about stripping back everything so that only his musical talent is on display.

Singer-songwriters always perform with the hope that their stories within the songs are what is focused on, whereas Beyoncé is a performer.

She uses choreography, graphics, lighting, backing vocals, political statements, her own music AND fashion to make her statements.

Lest we forget, her iconic Coachella performance was famed for the fashion choice as well as it's artistic mastery. Her On the Run tour outfits have changed the GAME of musical attire, her Formation hats especially grabbing the attention.

They exacerbate her talent, but we all know that if we strip Queen Bey of her dress choice, her choreography and her light show and graphic background, she would still deliver an incredible performance.

Yet numerous Twitter users argue that male artists can stand on their talent alone, whereas women must always have a more-than-presentable appearance, they must always have something else for their audience.

Ed Sheeran could wear a pin-striped suit if he so desired, but this would not run parallel with the branding behind his music. His image is the fact that he has no image; it's all about his own chill, laid-back vibe.

He has gained notoriety especially in the States for his appearance, or seeming lack of effort, yet this normal attitude towards fame is what allowed him to stand out in the first place.

He wasn't trying to get attention, he simply became a phenomenon for his musical gift alone. He was relatable, a man of simple taste with a great voice and immense penchant for songwriting. Artists should be able to decide their own looks and style, without their labels, the media or even their fans interfering.

Other humorous online statements are simply trying to dispel all the tension…

Do their outfits say more than we think?

Plenty of female singer-songwriters wear less elaborate, glamorous clothing, such as our new best friend Sigrid, who noticeably wears zero make-up onstage and sports only a plain white t-shirt and jeans.

Perhaps it would be best if we simply allowed artists, not to mention the general society at large, to wear whatever they please without having to worry about the incessant judgement of fans and random Twitter users.

Just a thought?

Before Beyoncé began slaying it on the stage, there was the iconic voice and moves of Aretha Franklin.

The whole world has been holding their breath since the legendary singer fell “gravely ill.”

The 76-year-old was recently put in hospice care at her home, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Beyoncé, as one of the singer’s biggest fans, has been especially affected by the news.

While on tour with her husband Jay-Z, they performed in the Queen of Soul’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

Surrounded by so much love for the iconic singer, Beyoncé had to take a moment to recognise the tragic situation.

She dedicated her performance on Monday to Aretha Franklin, and the crowd responded with a roar of applause in tribute.

“We love you,” the young artist spoke for Aretha fans everywhere.

Beyoncé also thanked the soulful singer for her “beautiful music”, reported Detroit Free Press.

There were over 40,000 people present at the concert in Ford Field, and they all cheered along as DJ Khaled played “Respect” at the beginning of the performance.

The Press also pointed out that Ford Field is just down the street from Aretha Franklin Way, which was dedicated to the legendary singer just last summer.

The heartwarming tribute acted as a “passing of the torch” from one generation of singers to the next.

However, no one will ever compare to the “Natural Woman” that has carved the way for African-American, female singers everywhere.

Other celebrities continue to pour out their love and prayers for the ailing artist.

Mariah Carey recently tweeted: “Praying for the Queen of Soul” with a classic photo of the singer.

Missy Elliot also urged fans: “We MUST CELEBRATE the Living Legends while they are here to see it.”

We continue to wait for news of Aretha’s condition, but we are happy that she has her family beside her and overwhelming support from her fans during this difficult time.

It has been a year since Beyoncé  last showed us photos of her adorable twins, Rumi and Sir.

And she has recently revealed more rare photos of her children on her website. They are just too adorable!

The family has been living it up while vacationing around Europe, sailing and spending some quality time together in between the singer’s world tour gigs.

In the picture, the pop star is holding both twins on her lap, rocking a retro, chic hippie look.

Her daughter Rumi is giggling and smiling while her son Rumi seems to be in a more serious mindset with his gaze fixed on the floor.

The family is shown in a few other pictures posted on the site, and they seem to be having some much-needed family fun time.

The parents were careful not to leave out their oldest daughter, Blue Ivy.

Beyoncé  and Jay-Z have always been sparse with social media posts of their children; no doubt in a loving attempt to protect them from public scrutiny.

The singing duo is continuing the rest of the world tour in the U.S. and Beyoncé's last performance will be October 4th in Seattle, Washington.

The power couple of the century is back on tour.

To kick off the special occasion, fans in Cardiff were spoilt with family footage of Beyoncé and Jay-Z renewing their vows.

The envy is real, as those who attended the On The Run II tour on Wednesday saw the couple surrounded by their three children, on the big day.

Adorably, Blue Ivy and Rumi appeared to be the bridesmaids, with Sir Carter owning the role of page boy for their famous parents.

Haute couture designer, Galia Lahav, confirmed in a press release, that the singer was draped in one of her dresses for the event.

The flawless piece is called the 'Thelma' gown, from the Victorian Affinity collection.

The Lahav gown is inspired by Queen Victoria's wedding attire from 1840.

True to its time, the dress includes features such as billowing sleeves, sheer panels and heavily-embellished train and corset.

The music producer and singer originally wed in a ceremony ten years ago.

The superstar debuted a gown her own mother, Tina Lawson had made.

However, Beyoncé openly said she regretted the decision.

In light of the (slightly awkward) situation, Tina told Today:

"She was so sweet to let me do that. She came back later one day and she said, 'You know, when my daughter gets married, I'm going to let her pick out her own dress.' Maybe she wasn't so excited about it at the time, but she's a sweetheart. "

The vow renewals gave the queen of pop another chance to walk down the aisle, but this time in a dress of her choice.

As always, Beyonce looked like she slayed in the gown.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their third child via surrogate earlier this week and their famous friends, Beyoncé and Jaz Z, have already extended their congratulations in the form of a very generous gift.

According to The Sun Online, the superstar couple gifted the newborn a $15,000 one-of-a-kind Lorraine Schwartz diamond incrusted bracelet.

The enormous act of generosity would suggest that their infamous feud has come to an end, with a source confirming the couples are “famila” once again.

The reconciliation comes after Kanye cancelled 21 dates of his 2016 Saint Pablo tour and launched a verbal attack and slated Beyoncé and Jay-Z while on stage in Sacramento.

“Kanye is over the moon as he has always considered Jay Z his ‘big brother,’ and Beyonce has always been one of his closest friends,” a source told The Sun.

“It’s only a matter of time before the play dates begin.”

Kim and Kanye are said to be delighted at the arrival of their healthy and beautiful baby girl.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star reveal the news on her app on Tuesday writing: “She’s here! We’re so in love.”

“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl.”

“We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”
