Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start planning a spooky weekend getaway.

Grab a group of your most fearless friends and check- in at one of Airbnb's most haunted homes (just remember to leave a spare bed for the ghost you'll be sharing with).

Here's a list of some of the spookiest listings available to rent right now.

The Madness Chamber (York, United Kingdom)

This one isn't for the faint of heart.

Nestled in one of the world's most haunted cities, this 600-year-old apartment, eerily dubbed 'The Chamber', is every bit as creepy as it sounds.

Those daring enough to stay here have reported everything from unexplained bumps in the night, to encounters with the real, albeit friendly, ghosts who call this place home.

“The flat is very, very old and oozes ye olde character, the ghosts are friendly too and the spooky paraphernalia great fun. You would be mad not to stay here.” -Jason, Brighton UK

The Girl in the Yellow Dress (New Orleans, LA)

While this cosy bedroom might look like the perfect place to rest your head after a long day exploring New Orleans, it might be worth mentioning that you'll be bunking with a young, raven-haired girl wearing a long yellow dress.

Host, Adrienne Parks, first learned of her mysterious house guest through neighbourhood chatter, and while her benign presence is largely accepted, no one knows what exactly she is searching for.

“This is our go-to place in New Orleans. The location is ideal, and the mansion is perfect – filled to the brim with the whimsical, hysterical, and sometimes perception-shifting.” – Michael, Florida

The Soldiers’ Asylum (Gettysburg, PA)

This historic civil war farm house would provide the perfect setting to any Hollywood horror film.

It's idyllic location and vintage interiors may scream 'quiet weekend away', but in reality, just over 150 years ago, this stately stone house was a scene of unimaginable anguish thanks to its location in Gettysburg, a battleground for the bloodiest war in U.S. history.

According to the host, Stephani Maitland, “The column of cannons, horses, bodies, and all the injured soldiers was drug down that road. It was a horrible mess.”

“Beautiful place, exciting for Civil War history lovers, and rejuvenating for those looking for an escape to the countryside.” -Atticus, Cambridge MA

The Lady in Waiting (Piedmont, Italy)

Legend has it, this picturesque property is haunted by the presence of a broken hearted women named Barbara who died for love in the tower of the Castle.

Some day that her sighs and wails can still be heard coming from the walls.

But hey, they do offer a continental breakfast for your troubles.

There are currently no guest reviews for this property, which could mean one of two things:

1. Someone is yet to muster up to courage to stay here for the night.

2. No one has made it out alive…

(We're guessing the first one tbh).

Happy Halloween!

As October 31st looms, ideas for Halloween costumes are gathering momentum.

Yet what we weren't (but probably should've been) prepared for was a sexy version of The Handmaid's Tale.

Oh, the irony.

Hours after Yandy put the "Brave Red Maiden Costume" on sale yesterday, the overwhelmingly negative social media backlash poured in.

For those of you that don't know, the Emmy-awarding winning TV hit adapted from Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel tells the story of a future in which women's rights have been taken away by a patriarchal, right-wing government.

So yes, a ''sexy'' version of those women are exactly what is needed for a Halloween costume.

The response online was obviously one of shock and disgust leading Yandy to release a statement defending the decision to advertise the costume.

They said, ''our initial inspiration to create the piece was through witnessing its use in recent months as a powerful protest image. Given the sincere, heartfelt response, supported by numerous personal stories we’ve received, we are removing the costume from our site.”

The costume was listed with a message urging the wearer to "be bold and speak your mind."

Retailed at $64.95, alongside lingerie-style Halloween costumes, some people did defend the costume as an ironic approach to female empowerment.

One said, ''I don’t get the pearl clutching over the sexy handmaid’s tale Halloween costume. I doubt it was the intention but I find it kind of subversive. Anyway let women wear what they want on Halloween and all days!''

Others were just not having any of it, with one tweeting,''I guess I don't find oppression and violence "sexy."

Following the controversy, Yandy said, “over the last few hours, it has become obvious that our ‘Yandy Brave Red Maiden Costume’ is being seen as a symbol of women’s oppression, rather than an expression of women’s empowerment.

What do you think about removing it – overreaction or eh, duh?

You can usually tell that the seasons are changing simply by glancing out the window or at the calendar on your phone, but another sure fire way to discover that Autumn is in full swing is the announcement of Lush's Halloween collections.

Arguably their most hotly anticipated of the year, the Halloween collection is one of the cutest and most innovative skincare and toiletry projects of the season.

The new line has just landed – and to be frank, it's looking spookier than ever.

Ectoplasm Shower Cream is top of the list, thanks to it's neon hue – very reminiscent of a recent Kim Kardashian wig.

The shower cream has refreshing, aromatic notes of grapefruit and litsea cubeba, an Asian evergreen shrub also known fondly as 'mountain pepper.'

The cream also comes packaging free, in the form of one of Lush's naked shower gels, however if you do opt for the plastic bottle, you can always return it to Lush to be recycled.

Another limited-edition item serving looks is the Eyeball bath bomb.

The red hued eyeball looks pretty scary bobbing around in the tub, but before long the spooky exterior bubbles away to reveal a gentle rose and orange soak.

Another new addition is the stunningly hued Magic Crystals scrub.

A lurid purple colour, it smells of delicious peppermint, and uses salt to exfoliate off dead skin and impurities.

Magic Crystals isn't limited edition, but is a permanent new invention of Lush's being released with the Halloween collection.

Recurring Halloween classics like the sparkly pumpkin bubble bar, cat-shaped Bewitched bubble bar and the Monster's Ball bath bomb are also making a return – and they're all available online now.

We know it's still a while away but we're seriously buzzing for Halloween.

Craving pumpkins, stuffing our face with eyeball-shaped sweets and, of course, indulging in scary movies makes it one of our fave times of year.

So while we'll deffo be seeing the latest Halloween, we can now add Goosebumps 2 because who didn't bloody love these books as a kid?

I was obsessed with the weird and wonderful stories by R.L Stine even though they scared the sh*t out of me tbh.

Goosebumps hit our screens in 2015 and starred Jack Black as creator Stine.

This  time around, the movie follows two teenage boys (the up-and-coming Jeremy Ray Taylor and Caleel Harris) in a small town who stumble upon a manuscript in an abandoned house that used to be owned by R. L. Stine called "Haunted Halloween."

They open it, unknowingly releasing Slappy (Avery Lee Jones), who plans to cause a Halloween Apocalypse with his monster allies and the teens have gotta stop him.

If you're looking for laughs and spooks mixed in with a bit of nostalgia then you can't miss Goosebumps 2 this Halloween.

It hits cinemas worldwide on October 12th – see ya there.

Get ready to hide behind  – well, anything, because Michael Myers has returned for one final killing spree, 40 years after his first in 1978.

The official trailer for Halloween was released last week at San Diego Comic Con and it scared the absolute sh*t out of us tbh.

The sequel follows on from the second movie in 1981 (making the wise decision to ignore the later, more unforgettable sequels.)

Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode, who is suffering from PTSD following the bloody events of that Halloween night 40 years ago.

This time, the plot goes as follows: Michael has been incarcerated in a psychiatric facility since the original night of murders when he is confronted by two filmmakers who want to learn more about his attacks.

Triggered by this, Michael escapes and heads off to stalk and torture women once again –  but he knows one thing: Laurie will be ready and waiting for his return.

There are some changes to Jamie Lee's characters backstory – in this version, she has a daughter, played by Judy Greer, instead of a son.

She is also not the sister of Michael Myers, who is simply a manic, unknown serial killer.

Jamie Lee discussed how these changes positively impacted her character at San Diego Comic Con.

According to Entertainment Tonight, she said, ''it's a movie about trauma. It’s a movie about what happens to somebody when you’re 17 years old and you have this horrible trauma perpetrated on you, and you have no help. This is a woman who has carried, for 40 years, her entire adult life, this trauma.''

Yes, we can imagine being chased by a knife-wielding masked man who has butchered your two best friends would be fairly traumatic alright.

“We are seeing in the world today, primarily women, who have been traumatised in all sorts of ways, physical violence, emotional violence, sexual violence and, in Laurie’s case, actually knife-attack violence… all of those women are having the moment where they will no longer allow that to be the narrative.”

She continued, ''no longer does that define them, that they are standing up and saying, ‘Enough’. And this is a movie about ‘enough’ at a time when it happens to be a national and worldwide message. And so it couldn't’t be timed better, and it couldn't’t have been written better.”

John Carpenter's Halloween has long been hailed a a classic and fans have been sharing their excitement on social media in the lead-up to this latest instalment.

Someone on Twitter clearly wasn't counting down or anything when they wrote, ''12 weeks and 87 days till the #HalloweenMovie drops on theatres!'' while another said, ''amazing how this movie will bring us #HalloweenMovie fanatics together. The cool thing is we have a couple of months to go to grow this family. Gonna be awesome.''

The eagerly-anticipated movie will hit screens worldwide on October 19th 2018 and WE. CAN'T. WAIT.

If you were a pre teen in the 00s, you definitely had a Bratz Doll or two (or twenty).

From their amazingly MTV-inspired clothing to their freaky pop-off feet, the dolls captured the hearts and imaginations of kids all over Ireland.

Everyone had their favourite Bratz (this writer's was Jade) and major fights could erupt on the playground over who go to be who during whatever games were played with the dolls.

They were super glamorous, despite their odd proportions, and there are definitely still a few rattling around attics across the nation.

Despite us all having grown out of playing with Yasmin and Sasha, pop culture is still obsessed with them

From the Bratz Doll-esque Snapchat filter to Kylie Jenner constantly being compared to the dolls thanks to her dramatic eye liner and full lips.

A post shared by Promise Tamang (@promisetamang) on

Now, one talented MUA has turned herself into a life-size Bratz Doll using the power of makeup alone.

Promise Tamang dressed up as Bratz Doll for Halloween, and her look left her one million Instagram followers shook.

The MUA copied the intricate and dramatic makeup which is painted onto the face of each doll, and used face paint to make her eyes appear huge and doll-like.

She also added some very noughties pencilled brows, and added mega volume to her lips with crazy over-lining.

The finishing touches were not one, but two black wigs for long, voluminous hair (though we gave our dolls many the terrible haircut), oversized plastic sunglasses, and door-knocker earrings.

The finished look is rather unsettling, but we're loving the nostalgia.

There are a few things that are heavily associated with millennial: selfies, college debt, brunch and avocados.

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen decided to pay homage to one of these millennial markers with her very distinctive (and adorable) Halloween costume.

Opting for a couples costume, Gisele and hubby Tom Brady went as our fave brunch combo avocado on toast.

Paying homage to the now cult combination, the couple scored major points for originality and relevance.

'Happy Halloween!!! I can't resist an avocado,' reads the caption accompanying the snap.

And only Gisele could literally wear a slice of toast and look fab.

However, we think their two kiddos would have looked super cute as a pair of poached eggs to compliment the look.

Then again, Benjamin and Vivian looked adorable in the snaps shared by their Mum.

Kylie Jenner has tongues wagging once again, after the reality TV star failed to showcase her Halloween ensemble in it's entirety.

Usually one to showcase her figure on Snapchat and Instagram, the 20-year-old only posted head shots this Halloween, as rumours of her alleged pregnancy continue to circulate.

The star donned what appeared to be a figure hugging angel costume, which complimented the devil costume worn by bestie Jordyn Woods.

A post shared by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

Kylie completed the look with white lashes and an icy blonde wig.

When sharing snaps online, the star only shared pictures from the décolletage up, despite the dramatic wings she sported on her back.

The social media sharing is a far cry from last year's Halloween, when the makeup mogul flaunted her enviable abs in an epic Christina Aguilera homage costume.

A post shared by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

Her new social media habits have buoyed rumours of her alleged pregnancy, but one image on Snapchat had fans questioning the alleged pregnancy.

The star recently shared a picture of a hearty plate of food, which sat on the table beside a full glass of wine, leading fans to speculate that the beauty guru isn't pregnant.

Can we just get a confirmation already? The suspense is killing us.
